Truth be told Rune didn't want to tell Mari what thy had been discussing. Her and Alina were once good friends and he didn't want to tell her that he was going to turn her in. Good news? Rune wasn't engaged to her so she really couldn't punish him for not divulging the truth. The same could not be said for Cypres. His emerald orbs watched as she moved over to Vesta and escorted her through the double doors towards the rooms to ensure that she didn't overhear their discussion. However, Cy's response instantly turned his already sour mood into one of violence and rage.
"Pardon your fucking self, that is your fiancé you are talking about. The woman who should hold your loyalty, not some pretty blonde dragon who's skirt you keep chasing." Those eyes of his turned into slits as his glowing gaze narrowed into sharp daggers towards the man-- if you could even call him that. He felt his fangs extending in response to the threat and it took everything to fight the urge to bite him and unleash his poisonous wrath. Killing him would make him feel better sure, but it wouldn't help anything. There was no way he'd let Mari be exiled from her pack, no fucking way.
"You want my help?" Rune shifted off and leaned on the cane, his fist clenching the top knob of the intricate device as he contemplated his words, trying not to be a repugnant asshole. However Alina was joining them and he was quickly biting at his lip. He watched her hand move to Cy's back to comfort him and all he could do was snort and roll his eyes. "Growing up we had this old fairytale story. Only an act of true love could save someone from being eaten alive by shadows and becoming a wraith. Good thing she'll be marrying Leo tomorrow, the only half decent heir we have in in this kingdom." A cocky smirk spread on his face as he aimed to rub salt in the wounds. "Oh, wait, he's mated to the twin isn't he? What a shame. Guess there's no saving her. You however are set to marry the love of my life and you'll do well to remember that. She is my priority. Maybe it'll do her well if Alina turns to a wraith, then you can give her the fucking attention she deserves."
With that said Rune marched off in a limping fashion and to his room. He tossed his bag on the bed and switched to a pair of swim trunks that took him longer than he'd like to admit to change into. He hated how weak his body was, but he'd be damned if anything stopped him. With a small huff he and the damned cane made their way back out to the pool and his eyes instantly fell onto Marigold. His face heated and stars be damned, did she have to look that good in everything? Without a word he plucked two glasses of wine from the nearby waiter and carried it one hand as he moved over to her.
"I know you're trying to hook those two up but they're both fucking awkward." Rune did his best to be mindful of the distance he had to Mari as he handed her the glass, his own glass clinking with hers before he took a sip of the red liquid. It was strong vintage of wine and meant to be enjoyed slowly, so as he watched Vesta chug it like some party girl he couldn't help but snort. "Well at least tonight will prove entertaining."
