Several moons had passed since the fall of the great clans. Born from the destruction, Forestclan was beginning to take root. Their new home was safe, but to many it still felt new and a bit scary. All tried to find some normality in their new lives, but that was a challenge. Cats from different clans, now living together, brought with it a sense of distrust. The new leader tried their best to keep the peace, but emotions frequently ran high.
Lillypaw sat quietly beside her brother, Harepaw, watching as older cats moved around the camp. "This is so boring," she sighed, glancing at Harepaw. "What are we supposed to do? Everytime I ask a warrior if I can come hunting, or if they could help with my training, they tell me to stop bothering them. Or they have me doing chores. When are we going to be assigned mentors?" In all of the chaos of building their new home and establishing their new territory, the clan's apprentices had been overlooked.
Harepaw was sympathetic to his sister, but he wasn't as concerned about the situation. "Everyone is busy right now," he replied, licking his paw before wiping it over his ear. "We aren't exactly a priority. Why don't you just try to relax?" Harepaw was not exactly an overachiever. He was more so the just-do-enough type. Not having to train or go on early morning patrols sounded just fine to him.
"Relax?" Lillypaw exclaimed, eyes wide with disbelief. "How can I relax when everyone else is rushing around?" She sighed, looking quite disheartened. Unlike her brother, Lillypaw aspired to be a great warrior. She was always the first to volunteer and the last to curl up in her nest at night. Since everything had changed, Lillypaw felt more and more like a hindrance, always getting in the way. " I just want to help..."
