From what I heard hiragana is easier then kanji. You learn hiragana then kanji.

You're trying to learn Japanese and you haven't even started on hiragana and katakana yet? Oh lawdy. We started that in week two of my beginner course freshman year.

Hiragana is the basic writing system. Each one stands for a syllable. Kanji are more complex and stand for a certain meaning or meanings, such as 「食」 means food or eat and can be used in multiple words that involve food or eating.

Or 「先」which means "ahead", as in the word 「先生」(せんせい、"sensei") for teacher, doctor, etc. which includes the kanji for life as well, literally translating the kanji meaning to "ahead in life"

Kanji can also provide useful context when reading Japanese, for instance the word 「かみ」(pronounced "kami") can mean god/spirit 「神」, hair 「髪」, or paper 「紙」 depending on the kanji used. When speaking it's all about context, though.

Well Florida was fun I guess. I am an inside person and the heat and humidity was killing me. Besides that, it was alright.
