Not pointing the sword at Reon. Richter would typically find using such an aggressive stance without warning highly inappropriate, kind of like how it's rude to point at people 8D;;;;

If he is a widow, I can't really see that being something they would oppose to. Besides, their character is not in on the arranged marriage gimmick. If anything, it adds to their character.

Royals are more powerful then normal citizens in there forms of magic, and it kinda is locked to region by region.

As a court mage, I think maybe a scholar or scrub can be a more general role that could encompass magic.

They properly be like an assistant to the royals in terms of stuff like law, or history, magic, and even paper work most likely.
