Hello mister Ryan,

Asuka told me to do the better at writing. So I decided to do that by writing you a letter.

How have you been? I have been well. My finger and toe are still there. Is your arm also still doing there as it was healed? I am glad the garden healed all those things. I hope they stayed healed.

Can I ask you a question? If not, please don't read the next bit. Is it normal to be scared of things after they hurt you? I am still scared of goblins and of caves and tunnels. Are you also still scared of what hurt your arm? Was it also goblins that hurt your arm? I forgot if you told me. Sorry.

I am in Norroburry. I am looking for cats. There is a scary knight here, I think he is trying to help me be brave though. There is also a green lady and a pretty looking person. And a pink person. There are also lots of magical cats. We are looking for those for miss Cat Er Inn.

One cat turned into a lot of smoke. Did you know cats can turn into smoke?

Sorry, the paper is running out, so I will have to stop writing. Goodbye, Amice.

STORMY!!

Oh my god, I can’t believe none of my letters got to you! Well, maybe I can. STOP LIVING ON THE STREETS! Like, do something for yourself for once! I know you’re Isekai, but you need to do like the Romans when you’re in Rome! Most people here accept payment when you help them. Those are called “jobs.”

Seriously, Arashi, I’m worried about you. Heroes [something is scribbled out here]. Just take care of yourself a little, for me, okay?

So much has happened since Azuran and I already WROTE YOU ABOUT IT!! I’m super-busy, so I’ll just summarize:
- I finally caught up with Cahron.
- Yes, he was shacked up with a girl. (I told you my brother was useless)
- She’s nice. He keeps saying they’re gonna have twenty kids and she keeps hitting him. (Smart girl). I haven’t been home in a while and they’re up in The Republic a lot, so I’m not sure if I’m an Aunt yet or not.

Okay, summary, right. Forget the bullet points.

Speaking of aunts, I spent a year on Aunt Sahar’s brigantine. That was crazy terrifying awesome boring educational. I got a tattoo! Here’s a drawing: [A blue swallow is sketched here]

I have been going back to Aerie almost every year for that thing I told you about. Thanks for taking care of me in Azuran.

Hey, you wouldn’t want to come down to Widersea for a month or two before April, would you? Free donuts! I mean, I’m sure I’ll be fine, but it still freaks me out it would make me feel better to have you around, if you’ve got time. I am totally not guilting you into a visit. But come.

Crap, I got ahead of myself; I got accepted to the University! Mom is over the moon, of course. I think she had pretty much given up on me.

There’s so much more to write, but I really have to wrap this up or it’s going to get buried under my books and never get posted. Not like you’re gonna read this one, either! Where should I even address it? “Punchy Lady, Park bench, center of Crime City?”

GET A HOUSE, YA LOSER! JK

I miss you too, Stormy. Blow off those weirdos in the West Empire and go to college with me! Or at least pretend to! You can say you major you’re a professor in Criminal Justice. Haha!

Love ya!

Ryuuji,

The odd mention of you 'fancying' me when you signed a new contract has been oddly stuck in my mind lately. Whilst it may have clouded my judgement at the time, I do not believe I regret the extra allowances that I gave you. If anything, I've come to hope you shall make the utmost use of them in order to flourish to your full potential instead. You are by far closest to proving that my methods, often considered far too lenient or liberal, are paying off.

Should things end well with my brother, you can use this note to remind me that I can help set you up on some business fronts with starting capital. It is an offer that I do not make lightly. That said, I believe you know well enough your own worth and that I have shown that I value it.

As such, there was one other thing we should discuss. Have you debated owning a slave of your own? You have been granted the rights to own property and I believe you would make good use of one.

Either way, I shall only commit this to writing. Saying it would be too odd. Now that I recovered from the shock of dying, I can say with more certainty. I fancy you as well. You have been the best buy of my life and should our positions have been different, I believe I'd have gone through great lengths to make you my business partner.

Saoirse.

Marcus Banecroft's Letters....

Letter Recipient: Luisa Uasal Uasal
Sender: Marcus Banecroft
Letter Type: IC
Letter:

Dear Optio O'Sullivan,

It has been some time since we have last met. The memory I have of you, was of you heading off to Fort Kanna. I heard that they had managed to take the Ruined Fort from cold dead hands, only for you to thrash them all and send each and every person there on their way. Since I have not seen you and understandably so. The Empire's needs are vast and thus, I wouldn't find it unlikely that we never meet each other again. Perhaps you won't even see this letter.

However, I felt a great need to thank you. It was you in truth, who spurred me on the path of improvement. I had once fallen before we met into mediocrity. Yet now, I have become more powerful then I ever was. I have moved from the back to the frontlines of the empire, where I take my newfound might and unleash upon my enemies in service to people of my home. Had my test been easy, would I ever have been so driven. It was you who gave me a great humbling. It was you who had informed me of weaknesses to tackle. And in a world where most all despise us -- I thank you for setting me on the path to fending off those who'd stand against us.

We had incurred great casualties in our war against the insects. More than half of those sent died. I believe if I had never met you, I would be one of them. I believe I would have met my end before I could pay my dues. I believe that I would have failed that mission, when I was I sent into the hives. I owe you for not only my life, but for those lives you've helped me to save. Of my home. My people. My family. I ask you forgive me if I am being too personal.

I was but one of many recruits. I hope you train a hundred more to replace me in my inevitable death. I wish you luck in whichever path you so take. May we meet again in the next life.

Sincerely, Marcus Banecroft.

Letter:

Hello Chesire,

I cannot say I expected any letter. To say nothing of it coming from one of the Fae See.

You know of my disdain for your nation. I will make that clear here and now.

However, what truly drives me is the protection of the empire and the seeking of truth. I would protect home and I desire to know what is real, for both myself and the world. These two things far outstrip my hatred of your country. Moreover, I agree. Someone seems to rest in the shadows. And they do so unpunished and beyond the public eye -- escaping punishment which awaits them and slowing us down at every turn.

How can we face the bugs if we can't turn our backs without being stabbed.

The fire was suspicious indeed. I hardly could understand what started it. I can add to this that I had found a strange device in the cave that I ventured. It was no organic technology. It was a machine, like something found in Widersia or Duchy. We suspect it might have been causing instabilities. Neither you and I had been briefed of it's presence nor of the danger it presented to us all. It made navigating hazardous for us and seemed beyond what we've seen of the insects.

Thus, it is that I seek this truth. And I seek to combat all threats to my home -- be they foreign or domestic. Be of the empire, the see, or anyone else -- I would seek to have whatever sabotages the Empire's Efforts. So long as you present no threat to the empire, I could care less as to whether or not you are better of for it.

I would meet with you then. And whatever group assembles. So long as they work towards our goal, I care not for who they are. Thus it is that I seek to join your efforts, Chesire.

With Regards, Marcus Banecroft

Dear Baharius,

I thank you for what you have done in the scourge against the bugs. You may be fond of the Empire, but you have aided in helping its citizens nonetheless. Thus, I would like to thank you personally. You risked your life for us and even incurred great injury in the vat of acid. My heart sank when your scales melted away. But I hope you have since recovered and been compensated handsomely. I have no desire to ask anything more of you. Instead, I would offer you my Spear for those matters which you may require assistance.

Things may change, and how much time I have available may shift, but as of right now, I will do so without needing any compensation. Consider it, thanks. If the empire is not in danger, I would cross with you to the dark continent and ask for naught -- save perhaps enough food, drink and shelter to swing my spear through the monster hordes. The same can be said for being escorted through the Empire. I will be sure to inform the sure to inform any who question your status

Sincerely, Marcus Banecroft.

Letter:

Dear Glacier,

I thank for what you have done for the Empire. On that day during Rico's Raid, you had risked your life along with others, in service of something which threatens us all. But you did so on my side. Most curiously, you did not seem to wander into this as Baharius did. You would serve the Empire of your own free will. Either way, I would welcome you with open arms. All who would love the Empire would deserve to be one of it's citizens. I admit that you are interesting to me and I wonder of your motivations. Yet I will not pry more than necessary.

However, I come to you with two offers. One is more personal. I extend the same courtesy that I have to Baharius to you. I would seek to aid you in any task that you might find yourself needing a spear. And I would do it at no cost. Perhaps I would only need enough food, water and shelter to swing my spear at my disposal.

The second, however, is something you should immediately consider. I hear that some have become suspicious of a third party as well who endanger both the Empire and the See. And I would seek to help the Empire, whether it aids the See or not. I would venture alone in seeking the truth. However, I would like to have one such as you at my back in uncovering that which is in the shadows.

Sincerely, Marcus Banecroft.

Dear Darius,

I cannot put into words how much I should thank you. I did once before. But I was barely conscious. I do not know if we will cross paths again, as the Empire is vast and so are it's needs. But hopefully, this letter will find you in good health.

I thank you for saving my life. Plain and simple. I have never been hit by such a force as that explosion before. And I fear it may have spelled my doom. My death will come -- yet I would prefer to continue fighting for the empire and continue experiencing. Just because I know death will come, does not mean I walk into willingly. I could you fear death more than I. You were very afraid. I could see it.

Yet within that fear, you still came back for me. You still pulled me from the rubble and hauled my heavy form back -- taking the weight of my sacrifice upon your back. And you did so in spite of the unknown. I have received thanks a plenty. But if no one has thanked you, let me be the first. Do not be ashamed of how you felt that day, I implore you. Shame only comes when you let your fear freeze you like a doe. To act in spite of one's fears is the true essence of bravery.

May your life be prosperous spirit, health and fullfillment -- brother. May we meet again in this life or the next.

Sincerely, Marcus Banecroft.

Hello love~

Seeing how we'll be splitting up for a bit, I figured I'd write a few things down for you to read at your own leisure later.

For one, I'd like to thank you again for your aid, as well as for the fulfilling night. I'm definitely counting my blessings for running into you during that time. Even more so for your willingness to join me and go meet the others.

On the topic of the others. Iberis is the cuddly mage that's going to take the lead on the next mission. She knows a fair bit of necromancy and whatnot, but I swear she's a good and nice girl. I'm sure you'll find her totally adorable as well in no-time.

Scylla, my love, has a fair few antics to her. She's bubbly, energetic and cute in her own ways, but also a bit chaotic and dramatic. I'm sure you'll get along if you can see past that. Seeing how we agreed to share everything, I do hope you'll give her a chance.

I think Viokii is going to be around as well. She's a construct we saved from some thugs. Her first thing was asking us how we wanted her to treat us, so she's pretty unique and willing to serve. It's a lot of fun if you play along with her. I really suggest you try doing so.

Anyhow, enough about them. Back to you. Feel free to ask me for things; I owe you a lot after all. I'd love to see if the Coven we've got going can be as fun, enjoyable and useful to you as it is to me. I feel like I'm finally finding and working to improve a place to belong there, after all, which is a feeling I'd love to share with someone as lovely as you.

Other than that, I must admit you've had me wondering what would happen if a night like ours would be relived, just with Scylla joining us. Do you think you'd be up for that? We should ask her. The more the merrier, is what they say, no? I'm sure we can come up with a lot of fun games that'd work out, no?

Either way, we'll have a mission to work on first. We can't let our cuddly witch and queen-to-be Iberis down, after all. I'll hope to be seeing you there soon, when we figure out how to get you into the dimension as well! With some luck, it won't be long!

With love,

Kalina

[Hey Yuna, hey Zjorn!

How's it going? I managed to make my way all the way back to Ryke. It seems there is some festival thing going on, so I'm going to see if I can snag up some free food or something. I think Valerius likes art, so he'll probably want to go see the paintings as it's an art-festival.

Honestly, it's already kind-of boring. Having you and Zjorn around really livened things up. A lot. It's also nice to have someone with the same issues. It feels like nobody else knows what it's like when the screws on your head are making that annoying clunking noise or when your joints get rusty. Or when folk look at you weirdly because they can't hear your weapon like you do. You know? It's really nice having someone around that gets you, I miss that already.

Did you give Decimus my regards? Valerius wants to say 'hi' as well. I hope your mission with him will go well. It's a shame that I'd probably get in trouble if I did too much Widersia military stuff, as then they'd not let me do adventuring in every nation, I fear. If they hire foreign adventurers or something, you should totally let me know, so I can tag along again.

Oh right, do you think we should try more bonding rituals as well, at some point? Now that Irihi has taught us about them, I think I like them. We might not even need Irihi herself to do them, I think? Just like the pinning games! Either way, I'd be down for it if you are! Also, regardless of that, we should totally visit a new bathhouse in the future. I heard there are floating sky islands. Can you imagine bathing in a bath that's floating the sky? That'd be so cool. Let's go there some day.

With regards,

Almeida and Valerius

P.S. Did your underwear also go missing after the fight against that demon guy in the bathhouse? I should probably buy some new stuff, but going without any has been surprisingly similar to going with it thus far.]

Hello Phoebe,

Seeing how I had to focus on presenting my evidence directly after the mission, I hadn't really been granted much time to thank everyone for helping me out. I really did get into some hot water in Clockhaven for a moment, which would've gone badly without you all helping me get out of it.

Seeing how we just met looking to get into a library in the Grand Duchy, somehow met again travelling to the bottom of the Continental Lake, then ended up going all the way to the Kingdom of Rotia, only for you to come help me out in Widersia as well, it feels like we've really been all over, haven't we?

Anyhow, I'm not the best at showing gratitude or being friendly, so I feel like I'm out of my comfort zone already. Do you drink? I'll just buy you a round. Or an evening's worth of booze, if you want.

If you're interested. I met the Spirit King. He had some nasty tricks waiting for me, but I got a bit closer to figuring out titles. Yet he's wanting me to go to the first continent for it to meet some 'Overseer' entity. I'm pretty sure it'd be suicide for me to go there alone. Yet I can't really ask others to join me. Not when the chance of them dying is so much higher than any mission thus far.

What do you think? Should I just give up on my chest to figure out titles?

Anyhow, I hope you're doing well and all,

Victorique

How's it going? Valerius and I really wanted to write you to say hello again!

How have you been? What have you been up too?

I still think the bath and bear were great! I went to a really modern bathhouse in Widersia that had some construct thing that broke down and lots of steam and metal with my new friend Yuna and with this old man Decimus. He also took Valerius with him, just like you did! Then I went to a bathhouse in the See to resurrect our Elf friend Irihi who died in the mission before, after which we did lots of bonding rituals and beat a demon down into hell. Have you ever done bonding rituals before? They're pretty great.

Oh, I also beat up a some demons in Widersia and a really big and dangerous bug. Now I might go back to Ryke, so let me know if you're around! We should hang out again!

By the way, Valerius keeps telling me that you two bonded as brothers. More so than Decimus at least. What does he mean by that? He won't tell me!

Anyhow, see you soon, hopefully!

My brave little scientist,

Is it going to turn out that your words are merely some empty words spoken in a daze? I do ever so recall that you requested something of me. Yet you never got to live to the expectations set by what you requested. How am I to take this?

You had my word and my letter alike, you could've become my special guest at any time. We could've had a whole lot of fun. Or, perhaps, I could've had a lot of fun with you, should that be why you asked me to begin with>

Yet, here I am, still waiting. Perhaps I was too lenient by telling you to set up our date? Perhaps, you'd like to come visit me and have a nice 'playdate' by my rules and likes instead? I can, at the least, assure you your life and a lifetime experience.

Things have finally calmed down in the Underbelly. In as far as they are ever calm, at least. You can still consider yourself an ally of mine in turn, though I must say, I am disappointed by your lack of a follow-up visit. Yet it's not too late to make up for it yet.

Don't keep a lady waiting even longer.

Dearest Master Zolgen,
How is the season treating you? Were you able to refill the ranks of your cute little goblins? So far the season finds me at Louvier Manor. I am currently about to begin my study into healing with my papa. I hope it is easy to learn. I also recently acquired 4 new teddy bears and named them after you and the other Masters. I named the white one Master Zolgen as you are always so congenial. That is also how I picture the white bears you know. They are the gentleman of the plushie world, much in the same way that you are the gentleman of the demonic world.

Oh, I also learned how to make my mother's famous fruit tarts. I shall endeavor to make you some if I get the chance. I am sure you will absolutely love them. Perhaps, this Rosette will invite you to visit her family home one day. Then I shall serve You and the gobos with the full tea service as has been passed through the Louvier family since time immemorial. I shall invite you to regale us with the tales of your adventures in the world beyond which we as humans are not a part. Greetings Young Master Agrigore,
I have not yet mastered the demon talk so I am unsure if you can read this or not, but in the case you can not I have taken good precautions. I used Ink and paper that is not hazardous to eat even for small babies. I figure if you are unable to read what I wrote then you or one of the pudding men will simply eat the letter. I also soaked the paper in sugar water to give it a sweet taste. It will be a bit sticky, I admit to the failure in this, but a maid must do what she must to get on in this wild world. That is a Rosette exclusive quote, but I give you permission to use it.

Here is a curious thing I learned. I hear tell human meat tastes like pork. I wonder if this is true or just something Lilibeth made up to trick me. It seems reasonable because of the salt content in humans, but I suppose I have no way to know. Maybe if you ever find out you can share with me the truth of these things. Oh and thinking on it, what about elves and such? ham too? or will they be more gamey like deer?? Either way, whenever I eat ham I pretend it is human meat so I suppose it doesn't matter in the end. Well, I shall leave you there. Take care Young Master and I shall look forward to our next encounter.

How fair you Master? Well, I shall hope. I was just thinking about you, and telling my elder sister about the shirtless demon that I spent a bit of time with. You should have seen her eyes when I told her that. You'd have thought I'd told her that I served tea to the spirit king lol. Such a silly girl she is sometimes. I shall share with you one tale of my glory Master Dreayth. When we were younger Lilibeth would pick on me something fierce and all because she had magic and I did not. So I let it slide for a time but not for forever, no no. I saved up my allowance and in town I bought medicine that's for constipation. Well the next time she had magic lessons with our Grandmother, I laced her breakfast juice with it. It was like a muddy fountain mid spell, i near died laughing. I will add that the punishment I received was no fun, but 100,000,000 percent worth it. One does not simply mess with this Rosette and walk away unscathed. Needless to say we have grown to get on much better since then. Well I should go, Take care Master Dreayth and I shall see you again next time.

Dear mister Roswell,

Whilst I might have started writing this a tad early, as you are still out there finding dear Tiger, I have been able to learn that you have been rather pivotal in having my kittens returned to me safe and sound, as well as without causing any hostilities in the village.

Truthfully, hearing about of some of the 'antics' that my kittens and your colleagues were up too, already, I must say it must've taken you a lot of patience and mental fortitude to attempt to resolve things diplomatically, tactfully and peacefully. It takes a man of great character to remain calm and collected amidst such chaos. I'm all the more glad you decided to help out on this mission of mine.

Between learning that Luna's been playing so rough that you were injured enough for Sprinkle's little charm to come into play and learning that Oreo has been treating you less than appropriate, I must humbly apologise. All the more do I wish to give you credit for your aid and performance, despite such troubling circumstances.

Having gone through many of my own adventurers, back in the day, I would like to encourage you to stay as you are. One does not need extremities to get far in life, one merely needs patience and the ability to think straight regardless of circumstances.

Should you wish to revisit Noroburry, do drop by for a cup of tea under more calming circumstances, you are always welcome to do so.

With regards,

Lady Felinus

What's up my fellow appreciator of the finer things in life?

I'm not gonna lie. Things were rough here. I had the worst hangover in like, ever. Just how much did we drink? I vaguely remember trying to climb atop that big muscular elephant guard and asking you for a boost..? Not sure what happened after.

Anyhow, I kinda woke up with a headache bad enough to split the seas and in jail. It seems they didn't like that stunt. Or the bathhouse stunt. It shouldn't be too bad, I hope, as I'm just gonna be told to go all the way back to home north again, I think, which is what I was planning to do regardless.

I don't recall you being caught. I hope you weren't, as they'd probably not go as easy on you. I just gotta worry about my dad when he learns of this. Gotta keep my tail tucked in the meantime. Perhaps I'll need to come over to wait things out, if you got a place I can crash at. Either that or I'll just weather the storm as usual.

By the way, how did you like my sketches? I know a few amazing artists that draw them. Totally out of this world. If you're ever around, you should come with me and I'll introduce you. Well, after my dad might no longer murder me, of course. That'll be a scary thing to look forwards to for real.

By the way, if you ever go to the lake nation, do write me back. I'm so curious if Orc and Shark folk are as amazingly muscular and cool as folk say they are... I'm drooling already!

Anyhow, hope you're doing good in life and all. Perhaps we'll meet again!

Letter: (In response to Marcus' Letter - written during downtime)

Greetings Marcus,

It is a pleasure to hear from you again, my friend. I have not expected to hear from you so soon but admittedly you have also been in my thoughts since the hive invasion. You fought well and long-fought like a true knight. It is crucial I commend you for that, from one warrior to another.

My feelings for the Eastern Empire are not wholly personal, only taking in regards to their views against non-humans. I fought because of the threat the hive had against all of us. I am aware it doesn't apply to every single citizen - you are living proof of such - but alas ideologies do not die so easy. Though the fact they went out of their way to repay me with a new set of self-repairing armor has helped softened my views against them somewhat. Do rest easy knowing that it was my armor that got eaten away, not my scales. However I imagine prolonged exposure would eventually cause injury to myself.

I also appreciate extending your hand to help me whenever the time comes. I shall keep it in mind, for it would be an honor to fight alongside you again. Whether I have business within the Empire or calling for arms across the sea. Just know that the same applies the other way. Should you need me, I will come and assist you without question.

As I am writing this letter, I am in Rotia helping to assist the locals with the coming freeze that connects both continents together. It's mere preparation work but I have already had my first taste with the monsters lurking up north. They are fierce and worthy foes. Makes one wonder what else is lurking within these cold harsh forests.

Alas, this is merely what I have been doing since we last met. Stay strong and take care Marcus. We shall meet again in due time.

Dear sister,

It's a bit odd to be writing you like this, but I feel like I need to clear my head of all the conflicting thoughts and emotions.

Seeing you return from your long absence was a happy moment, yet realising your choices immediately after have left me feeling conflicted and insecure. Why did you decide not to come see me first? Why did you do something as strange as to start waiting tables?

Do you not trust me to be able and willing to listen to you? Did you not think I'd be eagerly awaiting to hear what's been going on? Did you feel like there was some barrier between us?

It's incredibly regretful that circumstances immediately disabled us to talk things through. I tried not to get distracted, but I couldn't shake off the feeling. Have I fallen short in being a sister to you?

When I saw you suddenly tear up and hug Leos, I had the weirdest conflict of emotions. Part of me felt happy for you to be able to express yourself. Another part was hurt that you would suddenly fall apart due to the kindness of a stranger, after you hadn't even been willing to make your presence known to me before. I've rarely felt such a strong wave of self-doubt wash over me.

Figuring I'd bottle it up and clear my emotions, I now realise that such an effort is fruitless. I cannot help remain questioning. What did I do wrong? What else could I do? Part of me even makes me wonder if I should make you report to me as Marshall, just so I have a moment to try speak to you as a sister. It's pathetic, isn't it?

Even so, I hope that despite how hurtful this was and how confused it leaves me, I hope you know that I care deeply about you. You've been by my side through thick and thin, before I got even close to where I am today. So please, come see me as soon as you're ready.

With love,

Your sister.

Dear Teuihua,

Time really seems to fly, doesn't it? Or do you not feel the passage of time as others do?

Either way, I believe this moment is a good one to write you again as a word of thanks. From what I've gathered, you're yet on patrol today, as all others. The barony, as well as I, can both feel a lot safer with someone like you around.

As always, I still feel truly blessed to have someone to rely on. Whether it is going to strange islands with even stranger creatures, visiting magic towers, chasing down magically appearing apples, dealing with bandit attacks, enjoying a fair or even just thinking up ideas on how to improve the barony, it seems like you're always ready and willing to help.

It almost makes me feel bad that I'm not able to help you out as much in turn. Perhaps, should my schedule allow, I can help find some more of your missing crystal-parts soon. Or perhaps more remains of your ancient civilization.

Although I don't think I did anything to deserve someone as loyal and capable as you, I shall be selfish and blatantly state that I hope for you to stay by my side for many years to come.

With love,

Regula

Hello Asahi

You probably don't know me because we never actually met in person, but do you remember the woman in Ryken that you help with cooking Japanese foods? I'm her daughter and she told me a lot about you. I want to thank you for helping my mother, once I told my my parents about my origin I never thought much about it anymore, at least not how they feel about it. The KFC you teached my mother to cook made me realize that I might have made them worried about me too much. I've talked more with them and very grateful about it.

Also I never expected my mother would actually found someone else from Japan faster than me, and I'm the one actively searching. If you find yourself in the Duchy I would like to meet with you in person. I have a lot of things I want to talk about.

May we meet soon,

Howdy Martin,

Checkin in on ya after that hectic rescue mission we did fer Yume. Never thought that ya'd choose me for it, but nonetheless I wanted to say thanks fer bringin' me along.

However, somethin' has been gnawin at me mighty badly since we parted ways the Church o' Thorns. Call it the need to... confess sumthin. And I'm tellin ya this because I feel ya might've discovered it unintentionally. I knew that look in yer eyes, as was the weight of yer arm pressing against me clattered cloth, and don'tcha think I aint aware of your lil' smartass phrase ya finished me off on! But also that I seem to trust ya enough with keepin a secret. But once ya know, it'll be best ya burn this letter and not tell a single soul about what you read. You can say my life depends on it...

Right then.

As ya probably already figured out, I aint part o' the livin. Underneath mah attire of thick clothin n rags, I'm nothin' but bones underneath. A full-ass skeleton, literally speakin'. In other words, I'm undead. Even "Cassidy Flint" aint my real god-given name. Nor do it be the ONLY other name I got. But my real name I was born with be "Jebidiah Boone". Kinda ironic aint it? It be a remnant from my past life. But I stress and implore ya to listen to me when I say I aint part o' the grand monsta scheme or whatever. I aint here to cause trouble to da innocent or good folks like you. Now I have done bad things in my previous life before I got 'ere... terrible things I'll admit. And if ya think I've been in this ere state since I got to this realm then pardner you aint know nothin about me. I can tell ya that story anotha time, but in short I wuz undead even back then. And by my calculations... I've been alive for jus' over a century.

Damn it all I'm old.

But yea. That's mah secret. Congrats! Yer the first person I admitted to 'bout dis since I got 'ere. But if you tell anyone else about this and I swear on my mama and all that I still care for that I WILL find ya... and I will kill ya.

That's a Jeb guarantee.

Anyways, hope to see ya again soon pardner. Take care now.

You three kinda became my "usuals" for about a year now, and it's been really fun! Going to have Yume meet some new people for a change, but I've loved seeing her grow close to Jeb, Fae Hero, and especially Martin. Hope to RP again sometime in the future! Also, Sax, hope you're okay...

Just wanted to let you know the dedication to keeping things running is appreciated! Very neat experience you've created here. The time you put into grading, system updates, or even just chatting to keep the community talking must be crazy, but I imagine it helps a ton with keeping people interested and engaged.

...also appreciate how you don't shy away from some of the spiciest takes I've ever seen in a public chat lol

Gaius Danius Griinia Gaius Danius Griinia

Had to mention you, 'cuz you're consistently one of the funnest people in chat. Love the silly memes and off-the-cuff chat RP. When Saxon called me a "Borderline Patchi," I secretly took it as a complement ...but don't tell anyone. If you ever need a broken ice cream machine, you know who to visit.

Moonberry Moonberry

I haven't told anyone this (mostly 'cuz it's awkward and tends to trigger people), but you're actually the reason I joined IH, and not just because of the recruitment drives. I saw one of your RPs for Aedri, which had unique AI pictures for every single post, and - since I love to do the same (time permitting) - ended up inspired to join. I love seeing the pictures you post in media, and it makes me a little less lonely to see someone else having fun making them.

... Also, Yume & Aedri are just kinda funny together. Still hoping they get to make each other miserable on a date. In case it doesn't happen, I'll leave you with what could've been~

We haven't spoken in a while, but I remember you being really welcoming when I first joined. It really helped me get settled in. Your characters are all pretty interesting, and I'd love to RP together sometime. Crazy how we haven't done it after a whole year, but I guess that's just how it sometimes goes.

Spoiled Bread Spoiled Bread

Very random since we don't talk much, but you posted right before me, and it reminds me how every time you post a new character idea, I end up loving it. All the "adorable, quirky goober" types I tend to enjoy RPing with/as. We definitely should RP together sometime.

Skyswimsky Skyswimsky

You're not super active here, so maybe not the best place, but while I'm at it, thanks for being my friend for 50 billion years, despite my not-so-occasional spicy opinions. RP more. You write pretty good. Just do it a little less good so I can have more of it. It's a silly hobby, my expectations are not that high.

I heard you died recently. Sorry to hear that. If it was the spear guy, I'd love to get revenge on him together sometime. Let me know, mmkay? I have some fun ideas involving a python and a small field mouse~

Guess what: I remembered your name! Fae Hero Eris! Are you okay? I've been considering learning healing magic because of the scare you gave me. Maybe teach me sometime? I'd be happy to teach you how to eat brains in exchange, if you're interested. I could teach you some of my own magic in exchange! We could be Study Buddies! Magic Mistresses! The Fantastic Fae!

Part of this letter is hastily erased, and still legible...

Hello, from a secret admirer! I have a gift for you. Something precious I've been holding onto for you. Come see me sometime. I'll be opening a special shop in Ryke sometime soon. Next time you're there, look for "Yume's Fantasy Emporium" (name pending).

Dear Marcus,

I received your letter safely, and I apologize I’ve not answered sooner. My duties here keep me busy, though I don’t mind that as much these days. It still feels strange to be thanked for something I never expected to do. In the moment, I only knew you were in trouble. Fear tried to stop me—believe me, it tried—but letting you die alone in that place felt far worse.

When I read your words, it gave me a new kind of courage. Strange, how it can happen after the danger has passed. You’re right: bravery isn’t about never feeling fear—it’s about not letting it decide your fate. Hearing that from a man like you, who has faced so many horrors and still stands, means more than you know.

I appreciate what you said about my actions. My rank, my station—these are all temporary. But to know my choice mattered to you, that it kept alive someone who does so much for the Empire, strengthens my resolve. It may even push me to seek bigger challenges in service of our homeland.

As for our crossing paths again—well, I hope we do. The Empire may be vast, but so is your spirit. I suspect we’ll meet when it’s time. Until then, I will carry your encouragement with me. It reminds me that no matter how bleak some battles get, we endure for each other. You’ve shown me that true victory is never won alone.

May you keep walking forward, Brother, free from shame or regret. And may the gods bless your shield arm and guide your spear. I’d be honored to fight at your side again someday.

Yours in gratitude and hope,
Darius

Hey babe!

I am not great at writing letters. I have been staring at this blank paper wondering just how I am going to put down everything any of what I feel when I am with you, and not have it be completely inadequate. You know I prefer to tell you in song, so I am going to do that too. But I am supposed to be gone tomorrow; doing that concert over in Cass Landing, so I wanted to leave you a note, at least.

I love you, Lauren Lin. That is how I feel, and I feel it stronger today than any day prior. You keep making me feel it more and more with your actions, your words, and your body and spending your time with me. I love watching you work. I love it when you listen to me compose. You make the mundane exciting and fun. Every day spent with you is a day for which I am richer.

Tomorrow is going to be a day for which I am poorer.

But, at least I will know you read this note and found the present I left you. That thought, and the anticipation of flying back to you will be carrying me through to
morrow.

Dear Desmond,

I'm glad to hear you're doing well. I'm doing well as well. Which is swell.

I'm always tired. Magic is tiring. Summoning is tiring. Summoning Magic is more tiring. Then teaching is also tiring. So Teaching Summoning Magic is ultra-tiring. It's why it's good to have good students like you! The lunch you summoned was great. I still haven't been able to summon him again. Such a shame.

It sounds like you summoned some great creatures. But if you find a good hotline chant for more lunch-summoning, let me know. Or come summon me a grand buffet to celebrate you becoming the greatest summoner in the world.

If you bring or summon me lunch, or breakfast, or dinner, or perhaps late-night-snacks, you're always welcome to come learn from me again. I'm working on using ingredients to summon food in turn, but so far, I'm just turning them into ashes and one time I summoned a dragon instead.

May the mana flow through veins like an inspiring wave,

Anna Professor Anna
