Fantasy Farewell to Kings: Elide’s Tale

"Hey Tess!" Elide waved as she coiled her whip up, hooking it up onto her belt.
She kissed Bart quickly before walking towards Tess and helping her with her catches.

Tess hummed happily and handed Elide the rabbits. “So you two are officially an item now?”

She glanced back at Bart "I hope so, or else I'm kissin' the wrong man" She laughed, as she put up her long white hair into a ponytail.

She smiled. “You’re good for him. Bart can’t connect with any of us very well, not since the war. If not for you, I wouldn’t have expected his help finding my parents. You did that. Recognize this power, and use it wisely.”

She nodded with a smile. "And we're happy to help."

Tess nodded. “I appreciate it. Just know that I’m fully prepared to find bones in an unmarked grave. I hope that power of yours will be helpful finding them.”

She nodded and called upon the aether. The wolf took form and let out a happy yip. "She'll be a big help"

Tess smiled. It was quite a sight to behold. “Well don’t waste your energy. We’ve got days of travel ahead of us.”

She shrugged, "she's still good company". She jogged back over to Bart, leaning over his shoulder, "what are you up to?"

Bart had the bag of feed in his hand. The same one from earlier. He looked at the bag and sighed. “Pocket is light. I’m hoping for rich bandits right now.”
He looked over to Eli. “Ah, see here? I keep valuables in with old corn. When thieves grab my bags they think it’s just food and move on.” He bragged like it was a stroke of genius.

"I hide mine on myself. Unless they were lookin' fos somethin else I'll be fine" she smiled, sitting down next to him

Bart smirked and grabbed at her. “Oh yeah? So I’ll find some treasure on you somewhere? That’s easy. C’mere.” He was tickling at the same time he went for her pockets.

She squealed and squirmed against his touch with a laugh.

He tickled her until she got back a couple steps. Though he did find a gold coin on her person. He flipped the coin back to her by flicking it with his thumb.

There was something about Bart with no facial hair that Elide noticed. He had a freckle right on the corner of his mouth. He also had what looking like a scar from an animal on the right side of his jaw.

The sun was setting, and it seemed like everyone was going to camp here tonight and head northeast in the morning.

She gave him her best threatening look, trying to hide her smile. Elide glanced up at the darkening sky and then back at Bart. "I guess we should set up camp for the night and head out tomorrow"

Bart set up his tent away from the campfire. He was on first watch tonight. Eli was on second, and a built-looking caravaneer named Job was on third.

Bart had a beer and sat by the fireplace, poking the ash with a stick. Dinner was cooked. Fox, rabbit, and fresh skipper from the mud fields were on the menu; Plus some wild carrots and onions cooked into a soup.

“Hey man” Tess said to Bart. “You serious about her? If so, you better commit now or leave. I don’t need any more hurt feelings on this journey.”

“I’ve already committed. I knew when we signed papers that she was a fantastic young woman. I’ve enjoyed myself more than a kiss could give just by staring at the stars next to her. Leave your worries with me.”

Elide finished setting up her own tent. She had changed into her night clothes, heading out to say goodnight to Bart. She embraced him tightly.
"love you, don't forget to wake me" She pulled him into a kiss, standing on her tipy toes in order to reach

Bart was surprised by the kiss, saying something like “oh!”

“Love you too. Are you okay with second watch? It’s pretty crappy. Have a drink before bed.”

"It's fine, I'll be good" She smiled taking a small sip of his beer with a smirk. "Love you, see you soon" Elide smiled as she walked back towards her tent. She slid underneath her blankets, following sleep's lullaby

Sleep didn’t come for awhile. So many thoughts in her head, and the azure crystal blade was bugging her.

“Your brain is broken now. Poor little girl... wrapped up in the embraces of a barbarian. Warm flesh. That’s all you will become. Warm flesh for him.”

“You’re mad?!” It screamed. “I’m trapped with a useless girl who refuses to draw me out and kill! I’m furious!”

She leaped out of bed, her heart pounding. Elide fell to her knees and began to cry, her body shaking
