Fantasy Farewell to Kings: Elide’s Tale

Bart leaned over the railing and sighed. There were so many stories like those. Winter and Bart, taking the world by storm. Those were good times. No, they weren’t.
”He’s my little brother, did you know? Don’t ever call him George. If you call him Georgie he’ll turn you inside out.”

"I don't have any siblings... It's always been just me," She said softly as she stared down at the ocean waves crashing up against the cliff sides, the breeze dusting through her hair.

Bart turned towards her and crouched. “It’s not just you, you’ve got the caravans right? Winter and I traveled alone for years. Rode on every wagon from here to Dominion. I don’t know, I guess hatred was inevitable.”

"Well we've got each other, right?" She asked as she turned to look up at him

Bart smiled at her. “Of course. All this reminiscing is making me forget myself. We still need to pack for the trip. Want me to get the paint and meet you back at the inn?”

"Oh! Yes! I need to go find a local caravan anyways," She smiled brightly

“Well, lets get to it.” Bart said and led Eli down the stairs back into town.

How would she find a Gypsie caravan? Bart wondered. He headed towards the Church of Mitra. Upon entering he greeted the men of cloth and presented a gilded talisman. He told them a story about a cleric treating sick villagers and how they needed more paint to finish curing the town. He left with several clay jars of paint: white, red, green, and black.

She waved to him as she went off towards the long line of shops. Elide pulled her veil over her face as she began to search. There were a few shops set up, with sheets hiding them from the rain. But there were few who basked in the rain, which were the ones she was looking for. She looked towards them and bent down to her feet, slowly ascending as she twirled her hands before dipping into a bow. That's when the crowd began to form. Women poked their heads from out of shops and other small places as they walked over to investigate this newcomer. "Join me sisters. Join me to celebrate the first tears of the sky." Elide smiled brightly.
They pulled Elide into a warm embrace as they introduced themselves. They then rushed to gather the necessities for this sacred ceremony, before following Elide back towards where she promised to meet Bart.

They met at the stables. Bart, Tess, Winter, Elide, and the caravan. Tess and Winter each had horses, as did Bart. The last having taken longest to arrive, as he came through the stables with a light gray foal that was smaller than Ladybug.

”it’s young and thin skinned, so it’s appropriate for the girl.” Winter muttered to Tess.
“Nah, she’s a tough little cookie. I think she’d die to protect him... I mean the horse... her...” Tess coughed.
“Drink too much?” He laughed at her.

“She doesn’t have a name. I bought her for you” Bart said and handed her the reigns. “It’s a gift, to help make you a stronger ally!”

A look of utter joy over came her face as she ran to the foal. She ran her hands over its muzzle with a bright laugh. "I love her!" She exclaimed as she embraced Bart in thanks.
"I already have a name in mind, Azalea." She smiled as she returned to the small foal, "It was what my mother called me, her little azalea." She said softly

Bart gushed with emotion, but thankfully his helmet hid most of his visible feelings from the others.
“You’re- you’re very welcome” Bart said. He didn’t have the purple gems anymore. He hawked them a day ago. Easy come, easy go. That was Bart’s motto of life.

Winter waved the caravan to start moving north. Tess rode over to Eli and Bart.
“Winter wanted me to tell you he’s not staying long. He was more colorful about putting it, but he’s not interested in genie magic stuff. I’m ready to party though!”

She smiled brightly as she walked Azalea back to the stables before returning to the group. "Well! Follow us!" She grinned as her fellow sisters walked with her down towards a large lake.
The rain pattered against the water tops, sending a feeling of belonging over Elide. Elide sat on the grass as paint was applied to her face and her body. The group helped paint each other, buzzing with excitement before turning towards the newcomers. "Are you guys ready?" Elide asked brightly.

Bart and Tess donned the face paint. They felt like warriors on the path towards glory, but to everyone else they were enthusiastic.
They rode on past the guild hall and the riverbend. They kept riding until they found a choice field of muddy puddles and a grassy pond.

Bart wondered out loud if they should paint the horses too.

"No, they don't do well with the paint" Elide explained as the music began to play.
A few members of the caravan were tasked with providing the music, in which the others began the dance. Elide joined with the others and danced with the rain in a gentle melodic way.

Bart got off his horse and ran into the party like a loose bull, throwing himself onto the mud with his belly and slid past everyone. Tess ran in behind him and did the same while laughing her head off. Bart stood up, just to get knocked over by Tess and falling face first into mud.

Elide giggled at the two as they enjoyed themselves. Once the dance was finished, the caravan stripped to their undergarments before running and leaping into the lake, Elide following close behind. The cold water knocked the wind out of her, but she didn't care.

Tess and Bart joined in too. Bart did a belly flop while Tess hit the water like a cannonball.

Emerging from the watery depth, Elide saw all of her favorite kind of people together. Friends, family, and ... would she call him a love?

Gah I think she would!)

She dove beneath the waves and into the waves of the lake with a laugh. She spotted Bart's legs and yanked him underneath

Bart sunk and spun around to see Elide. Lucky for her he didnt have a spear, else he might’ve attacked. Lizard men existed after all. He kicked his powerful legs to swim towards her and grab her by the waist and pulling her towards the surface. He emerged with her in his arms and started laughing.

She yelped, giggling as she splashed water into his face before she disappeared into the water once more, her white hair flowing around her peacefully. Elide giggled and waited beneath the waves.

Bart dove down again and met Elide underwater. They floated together for a little bit. He gazed longingly into her eyes, wanting to hold her and carry her to the surface.

Her heart stopped momentarily as she stared at him. She loved him. With every ounce of her soul. Elide felt as if the water and the excitement that was happening all around her had ceased. She felt as if it was only the two of them.

He moved himself closer. The love was beating inside his chest. He couldn’t stop himself. He pressed his lips against hers. In that gentle aquatic bliss, he felt his soul collide with hers.

She felt herself melt at his touch. Her heart swelled as she curled her arms around his neck.
