Plot: In a plot to get rid of those who have fallen out of grace within their families, a number of noble and merchant families have conspired to send the black sheep of their families to their deaths by exiling them to the dark uncharted forest that stands at the beginning of an unmapped frontier that the known races of the world have declined to enter. The young exiles are told to go slay a demon king and not come back unless they have slayed the demon king or something of equal might. The exiles know that their families want them dead and that a demon king probably didn't exist anyways.
Anyways, more than half of the exiles don't make it through the first night and the survivors find refuge in the ruins of a village in a meadow in the forest. It seems the more dangerous creatures avoid the meadow for some reason and that most of them hate light. The exiles best chances are to stay in the village and find a way to develop skills to defend themselves in case they do not to head back into the forest for something. Who knows? Maybe there are sentient, benevolent creatures in or on the other side of the forest somewhere.
TLDR: You are the child (age between 14 and early 30s) of a noble or wealthy merchant and have fallen out of grace. You arent necessarily a delinquent. It is possible that you are seen as talentless or a slacker. It is a given that you barely have any combat skills due to not receiving the proper education, because you neglected to pay attention in classes or you simply lack any experience.
Races/Species: Humans, Elves, Demihuman, Dwarves, Halfling, Half-Orc, Half-Goblin, Half-Ogre, Half-Troll. (You cannot be full orc, goblin, ogre or troll as they are usually either "wild" species or in servitude in this world)
The forest: The forest is known as "The Far Forest". It is a large forest that borders the known world to the north. The known world avoids exploring it as pretty much all expeditions into it had failed and exploring it from the coast is also nearly impossible due to sea monsters. Whoever wants to conquer the uncharted lands to the north would have to be a very skilled warrior or has to develop into a monster of a warrior.
Meadow village: The ruins of a village in a meadow in the forest. It looks to be abandoned for at least a couple hundred years. The meadow is large enough to create agriculture for an entire village. A creek with fresh water and fish flows through the meadow. In the meadow is also a hill where you can overlook the forest. From the hill, you can see mountains and a volcanos far in the distance when you look to the north. Looking to the south, you can see a tower on a mountain with a beacon at night, the only bit of civilization still visible from here.
Magic system:
There are two types of spells: Voiced spells and voiceless spells. Voiceless spells require a specific level of mastery.
In terms of types of magic, there is elemental magic (fire, air, water/ice, earth/plant), light/healing magic, dark/corruption magic, blood magic/necromancy, illusion magic, summoning magic, druid magic (talking to/commanding animals), shapeshifting and enhancement magic (physical buffs).
Rules:
1. No overpowered characters. You are not the main protagonist nor the center of attention.
2. Original characters only. If you have a premade character that you use on other roleplays or use an already existing character from media, you wont be able to join.
3. Do not control other people's characters without their consent.
4. No one liners. Make sure others have enough content to deal with. This isn't a chat roleplay.
5. Stick within the setting with characters. That means no worldbreaking characteristics.
6. Have fun.
