Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

"Wait, Ice?" He says before slipping and falling. "Ow ow ow, this is not good" Using his sword he pierced the ice, using it as a support to stand up. "Anyone have an idea? " It's hard to counter the slippery floor, more or less manuver in it. 'How do we overcome this' he says to himself

Being furious that she was ignored by the wizard she slowly started to walk down to the place where she felt the strongest concentration of magical energy. As she went she heard the sound of battle - little more than nuisance for her. She kept walking, the lightning scorching the walls as she went.

Then she entered the great hall only to behold an epic struggle. The tiny ones, who were similar magical creatures to her - and were somewhat familiar - were fighting a creature. Her eyes opened in fury as she realized who it was.

" WIZARD! " she bellowed and threw a lightning at him, barely missing him " Your judgement has come, pathetic insect! I will sear the flesh from your bones! "

"N-nyr?" Anya asked hazily. She was bright, and seemed furious. 'What happened? What's wrong with Nyr?' She wandered to herself. "What h-happened?" Anya moved to get to her feet, her cloak was shredded, and her dress had bloodstains around her injuries. She had a gash in her right arm, apparently from a bite, hear and there she sported scratches, some deeper than others. She was in bad shape, and had clearly fled a losing battle at some point. Once on her feet, she leaned back against a wall for support, she was dizzy, but fought through it.

Alexander glanced to see the Raven, and paused his fire long enough to speak: "Nyr, be careful throwing around that lighting!" He motioned to the water pooling from the melted ice.

Wards throw was impressive. So much force behind such impressive body structure. Leo was far to focused on the problem at hand however to care about speed. The sorcerer had materialized right where ward had aimed, and It was doubtful be expecting a 350 lb lion humaniod to be traveling at insane speeds at him. Leos arms outstreatched, he was on the sorcerer in a heart beat, throwing them both to the icy ground ass over end. Leo pinned him down to the floor, the green glow in his eyes intensifying as he relized his quarry was pinned. It was then that the voice of Lilly interuoted his thoughts of revenge and pulled him back to his normal self. "Leo. As guardian you must not let your instincts take control of your body." The spirit was right. As much as he wanted to kill the creature, he needed him. Leos eye faded back to normal, the scowl remaining. As the man tried to squirm, Leo grasped him by the neck and held on tight. He used his other free hand to take both of his wrists and twist them, nearly to the point of breaking them. He pushed the sorcerer up against the wall and stared him down "You will tell me how to reverse what you have done to my friend or I will take your arms from you body." Leos eye, dead serious, waited for the answer he needed.

Banba was against the wall, staring at where the flames had danced, boiling the ice. They were gone from the room now, Alexander distracted by the dread raven, but the flames still danced in the shifter's eyes, voices sounding through her ears. Squeezing her eyes shut, Banba stood up, clutching her stinging chest, using the sword as a support, she slowly moved around the wall, begging to any deity she could think of to let the others let her go. To let her isolate herself as she had tried to before, last time she feared flames. Her chest felt heavy and cold, her breath shallow. She could see the mist passing her lips, disappearing into the air.

'Let them leave me alone.' She thought intensely, eyes flicking around the group. Leo had the sorcerer against the wall. 'Let me go unnoticed.'

The healer smiled her grizzled smile, eyes old and watery but filled with a happy light. "Its Alta."

@Lioness075

As the orb smashed the Wizard shrieked. "Fool! What have you done!?" But he had no time to react as Leo came hurtling toward him. The sorcerer snarled in pain, fear finally showing in his dark eyes.

"I-I can't reverse it. The cure is a magic I have no control over." Even now he was smiling, but it wasn't for long: As the dread raven burst into the room, lightning lashing the walls and snapping ice from floor and ceiling the wizard cowered.

@zCrookedz

Ward reeled from the force, sliding back and bracing for impact against the wall. He hit it with a hard crack, keeping his wing up so as not to break bone. He had failed to notice the spiked piece of ice embedded where he fell, felt it puncture skin. Once recovered he examined the wound, his feathers making it hard to see clearly, but it didn't look serious. He had larger problems anyway, Nyr had entered the room and she seemed enraged beyond reason. As she approached their enemy Ward saw death in her eyes.

"No Nyr, not like this!" He rose and rushed toward her, standing between her and the sorcerer, still pinned and helpless in Leo's clutches.

"Nyr..." The gryphon's expression was pleading.

@DawnAntalios

As soon as Alexander dealt with the ice Leia rushed to Banba's side, unsure how to calm the shifter. She reached out to steady her. "Banba! Its me, Leia. Ban?" @Jecklyn

Annoyed at her missed shot she took flight and tried to locate the cowardly man. Only then did she see the massive lion like guardian flying through the air and tackling the wizard. This surprising act startled her for a moment but then concentrated again.

That is until Ward stood before her.

" Out of the way, gryphon! " hissed the raven furiously " I WILL make him pay. The fury of the storm demands it! "

Luness nodded at Alta and said one more final thank you before she turned towards the town's gates and dropped to all fours, sprinting out of the town. Once outside of the town, Luness found that there was no discerning trail left by her group or any scents to catch in the wintery storm. Luckily, her eyes were still able to see through the snowfall and swelling gales around her. Lightly sprinting over the snow with her natural snowshoes to thank for that, Luness soon came to the edge of a lake that was frozen over, having followed the eye of the storm. Cautiously eyeing the ice, Luness stepped onto the lake and tested the ice just to be safe. Still hesitant, but satisfied that she wouldn't fall through, Luness then began sprinting along the frozen lake towards the castle beyond.

Upon entering the castle, Luness noted several lifeless bodies of what had appeared to be guards. Skimming around the bodies, Luness soon heard a fight ahead of her and trotted to the large room where she found her group attacking someone who appeared to be able to control magic, despite them being human. A sorcerer... Luness hadn't seen one before, but he looked dangerous despite being held against the wall in the grip of Leo. Shaking her head, Luness stood up on her two hind legs and then flinched at the sight and sound of Nyr.

Nyr was covered in wounds yet again and her eyes were completely black and clouded over, showing that she most likely had no control over herself in the moment. Luness would know since she'd just returned from such a state. Hearing Nyr's anger, Luness flinched again, but she still walked towards the trio, Nyr, Ward, and Leo. Luness had no idea what she could do to lessen Nyr's anger, but she still felt that she may be able to help. At the very least, she could stop Nyr's bleeding with the powder that she had been given, which was in the knapsack hanging across Luness' chest. Luness could see that Ward was injured as well, but Nyr still looked worse off than Ward did.

Elena smiled subtly at the broken pieces and thin painless cuts on her fingers. The wizards shriek brought her attention up, just to be knocked away and back into the nearest solid object by Nyr. Getting up slowly, she approached Ward and Nyr, concerned for Nyrs mental state and Wards hard landing. She climbed a piece of ice on a pillar, legs shaky but solid when finding a place to stand so she was close enough to see the raven clearly and closely. Everyone was falling apart on this trip. It needed to end. Now. Her eyes steeled over with resolve.

"Nyr. My friend, listen to me." She said loudly over the wind and static in the air.

"Please. I need you to look at us, your friends. We know you want to hurt him, but you need to think clearly! Please calm yourself.."

Leo watched a Nyr burst through the room. The sorcerers shriek alerted him to the danger she presented and he immediately jumped out of the way, still clutching him by the throat. Once out of the way of Nyr he turned back to the wizard. Squeezing a little tighter with both his hands he growled at the man "Tell me who might know of this magic you speak of, or I will let my dread raven friend have you and she is 1000 times more vicious than I!!"

Banba shrieked as Leila came near, pushing herself sliding back on the ice still around the wall, holding the sword between the two girls.

"Don't touch me! Don't touch me, leave me alone!" She struggled to keep her voice from cracking before she stopped, staring at the sword in her hands. Tears fought their way over her eyelids, running down her cheeks. The icy coldness in her chest grew, numbing the shifter's scales. She looked to Leila, eyes distant.

"I don't know whats happening... I don't know!" She called, her hands slowly dropping. "This all happened before and yet I know nothing! I didn't mean to! Stop it!" Dropped the sword again, clutching her head, breaths heavy as she squeezed her eyes shut.

"Its too confusing. Its too confusing."

Surprised that even a human approached her Nyr flew backwards raising her hands defensively, both arcing with lightning.

" I warned you all once. I will not to it again. " she said, preparing to strike should it came to blows " Out of the way or I will burn you with the mage! "

Luness quickly stepped between Elena and Nyr, knowing that humans were far weaker than any of the magical beings in here. One electrical strike from Nyr would kill Elena for sure. Looking at Nyr now, Luness cocked her head and then calmly said in her raspy tone, "You're injured, Nyr. Let me aid you. Leo already has the mage restrained. The mage isn't going anywhere and you won't last much longer in this condition." This said, Luness took a cautious step towards Nyr and then held up both of her paws in a calming manner while pausing to wait for Nyr's reaction.

@DawnAntalios

"Im not moving Nyr. I trust you."

Elena stood her ground. She.did really trust Nyr. She wasnt afraid of death, and should Nyr do what she was planning to do, it wouldnt truly be the raven. It would be rage taking over. Elena wouldnt have it.

"We are here to help Nyr, not prohibit you.. but killing in cold blood isnt what you want."

When Luness arrived, Elena watched her attempts but stood her ground before the raven in front of the wizard.

There was real fear in the wizard's eyes now and he struggled against the guardian's grasp. "I cannot be sure, no matter how much you wish it. But I will say this: based on your actions just now, if you cannot melt the shard, then I daresay no one can."

@zCrookedz

Ward stayed where he was, blood beginning to stain the ground at his feet. "I won't move." He said sadly. "Not if it means letting you become the thing you have always tried so hard not to be." When Elena and Luness stood beside him he gave them a frightened look that pleaded for them to stand away. @DawnAntalios

Leia backed off, watching her friend suffer was torture. "Leo!" She yelled, looking back frantically at the guardian. "She's getting worse! Please! We have to help her!" @Jecklyn @zCrookedz

Alexander just watched, he was not close with the raven, and judging from her current state, he doubted that he could do anything to help. Based on the lighting arching around her, it seemed that this was not merely the effects of the challis. He stood, and headed back towards Ashley and Quincy. "Let us move ahead and try to obtain the Challis, perhaps we can use it to calm Nyr, either way, it appears that we cannot do much good here."

"Is... is that Jack Frost?" Anya, still in a bit of a daze, asked to no one in particular. She then noticed Alexander was moving, and listened. "I, uh, I know w-where to find it. It's upstairs... at the top, a-above us..." She moved to follow them, she wanted to help, and clearly fighting was not an option right now. "I can help..."

@Shimakage Thunder @Flutterby

" Do NOT dare to tell me what I can survive, cat! " she roared angrily when Luness suggested tending to her wounds " I was thrown out on a distant rock by my own parents to die, but before they left me to die they pecked my very flesh to feel the agony. Do not tell me about pain. "

She looked agitated.

" But it matters not, I am going to ask one last time. Let me enact vengeance on that pathetic excuse of life, he deserves it. "

Leo stared into the eye of the man and saw the truth. He let a cold smile cross over his face and without looking left the man to his fate. "Nyr!! He's all yours!!" With a swift fling of his arm, Leo tossed them man in Nyrs direction. Without looking back at the mans fate, he turned to Leias plees. He whipped around franticly trying to find Banba, finally laying eyes on her on the ground. He sprinted towards her until he was only a few feet away. He took his ax off his back and placed it on the ground. He got down close to the ground and held out his hand to Banba, "Banba......banba its me Leo. It's alright, everything will be ok." He began to inch his way closer to her, not wanting to cause her any alarm.

Luness' ears perked at Nyr when she roared in anger, though Luness didn't even flinch under the anger that Nyr intended to exact. She'd dealt with such anger plenty of times with werewolves before and other beings. Keeping her head cocked to the side and a calm posture, Luness then said quietly, "Both of my parents left me when I was younger. My mother was killed by the very werewolves that had followed my father. They attempted to kill me as well and nearly did, but I managed to get away at the last second."

Luness blinked after saying this, the scar running over her right eye seemingly itching after Luness brought up the memories. She also had scars along her chest and a bite scar on her left hindquarters. She'd survived a dark past and so had Nyr. Narrowing her eyes at Nyr and lowering her paws to her sides, Luness said plainly, "Killing that mage isn't going to solve anything, Nyr."

Eyes widening at Leo's choice, Luness let out a snarl and leaped into the air, tackling the mage aside before he was thrown into Nyr's shooting range. Landing in a heap, Luness then stood on all fours over the mage, growling at Nyr defensively. Granted, Luness would love to put the mage down as well, but he could still prove to be of some use to them.

Banba didn't resist the closeness of her leo this time, though one had to wonder if she were still mentally in the room.

"I didn't mean to, I'm sorry. He just..." She sniffed, chest heaving. "He just was there and then I wasn't. I wasn't there for a long while. And he... He couldn't have been there too..." She was gibbering quietly, eyes downcast, tears still flooding down her cheeks.

Elena felt her confidence waver. When Nyr expressed her feelings as to how her parents abandoned her, Elena knew talking would be harder than she imagined.

She looked to Ward with deep concern.

"Im not leaving you to stand alone, Ward. You're bleeding out.. let me be strong to." She said quietly and gently.

Back to Nyr, she continued.

"Can you weigh a life? Decide if a pitiful thing should die? Why not leave him bare and take away allthe power he has? Dont decide what life is worth living. Im not moving so back down."

Baffled at Luness' choice she raised her hands.

" Fine, if you protect that being that you shall die with him! " she yelled and shot a bolt of lightning towards her.

Or she would have, but she could not. Looking at the werecat she could not fire, even though the fury compelled her to.

" I... Why can't... I do it... " she roared in fury, trying over and over again to no avail. From the corner of her eye where it was consumed with rage a small drop of tear appeared.

Ward gave Elena a puzzled look. "Bleeding--Oh..." He had just noticed the red stain but swallowed and turned his attention back to Nyr.

"Because this isn't you." He stated as calmly as he could. Watching with a new hope as she couldn't bring herself to fire at Luness. "This, this is what your clan wanted you to be."

The sorcerer, now powerless cowered wretchedly under the paws of the werecat.

((@KattRai don't forget about the giant werewolf guarding the chalice xD ))

Elena approached Nyr, slowly and carefully. Each movement was made with purpose. She held a hand out to the wrath filled raven and sighed, letting her guard fully. She now trusted Nyr to not attack. Taking a breath of relief, she spoke softer, trying to find her friend.

"Nyr, please.. he has nothing.. and killing him will only leave you with less. He will suffer enough. Lets end this the right way. I dont want the Nyr we know to leave."

She was close enough to touch the other, but kept her hand open for the Raven.

Luness stiffened as Nyr readied to fire lightning at her and merely closed her eyes to brace for the impact. Yet, it never came.

Confused, Luness opened her eyes again to see Nyr struggling with herself.

Staying where she was to keep the mage from trying any escape attempts, Luness said boldly to Nyr, "You risked yourself earlier to save me despite my attempts to harm you. Now I'm returning the favor. You said that your parents left you to die. By surviving this far, you've shown them that you're stronger than they are. Like Ward said, you're becoming what they wanted you to be. You've proved them wrong once before, you can do it again."

In her peripherals, Luness could see Ward was bleeding rather profusely and knew that she could help him with the powder in her knapsack, but she needed to bring Nyr back to reality first.

Seeing Elena approaching the still dangerous dread raven, Luness let out a low, warning growl since she was restraining the mage and couldn't get Elena away from Nyr in the moment.
