Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

Ward shot Elena a disbelieving look that said something along the lines of: 'please don't goad the ice-crazed megalomaniac!' but he held is peace as Anya was likely the only one to suffer for his unthoughtful actions.

The golems were defeated and the sorcerer eyed them with a confident smile. Suddenly the sphere by his side cracked, fine lines issuing down its smooth surface.

"Well well, one of you has managed to best my storm djinn too. You are quite a powerful bunch."

"What do you want?" Ward asked seriously and the man grinned.

"My, my, gryphon. Anxious, are we?" He laughed, gesturing to the table beside him, where a velvet bag lay.

"In here I have glass shards, and I'm told it does amazing things once its in your heart. All I ask is for a test subject to try it out. How about your little sweet talking friend there?" He pointed to Elena, and a moment of silence drifted around the room. Before anyone else could speak, Banba stepped forward, eyes set.

"What does it do?"

"Oh... Nothing much." The man cackled, still holding the knife to Anya's throat. Taking a deep breath, Banba nodded, walking forward.

"I'll do it, as long as you let the girl go." The man cackled again, raising a brow.

"Why so eager, shifter?" Banba paused at the question, determined face faltering.

"A little debt repayment, is all." She said, cryptically. Picking up the bag and letting the glass shards slide onto the table, she picked the biggest one up, before turning to the sorcerer.

"Now let the girl go." She held the shard against her chest, staring down the ice man.

The rooms silence was comparable to that of a tomb. He knew that anyone of them would take the price in order to free Anya. As leo began to make his move towards the bag, he heard exactly what he didn't want to. Leo's chest dropped them moment Banba stepped up. "Banba!!! No!! Let me take the shard!!"

@Jecklyn

Ignoring Leo's shout, Banba continued to stare the wizard down.

"You have my word on my end, do your end." The sorcerer frowned, raising a brow.

"How trustworthy is a shifter's word, especially one like you." Banba didn't respond, but stepped forward, knocking the knife from his hand, pushing Anya towards Leo. She glanced once behind her, eyes landing on Leo. She grinned, letting out a giggle.

"Gotta make use of this sanity." She said before pushing the shard into her skin. It almost melted into her, past her scales. Not expecting the pain, the shifter dropped to her knees, holding the back of her hand to her lips.

"Oh... Okay. Thats pain." She identified, breathing deep. "Thats what pain feels like."

The sorcerer stared at her, curious as to how she'd react.

"How bout it, shifter? Feel any care for your friends? Maybe the lion man?"

@zCrookedz

Leo jumped to the bottom of the raised platform and caught Anya. He gave her a quick once over to make sure she was not in mortal peril, and then watched Banba and the wizard. His eyes caught hers and his heart beat seemed to slow to a crawl. It was as if everything in the chamber went quiet and time seemed to almost stop. The second the shard penetrated her his brow furrowed and he let loose a roar that shook the very foundation of the room. To sit and watch a friend do this to herself and not be able to protect her, Was more than he could bare. He turned to the others in the room and handed Anya over to them. He turned back to Banba and caught her as she was falling to her knees. "Banba, you should have let me take the blade....." He looked up at the sorcerers words, a rage filling him with every word he spoke.

"I... Don't care." She said it slowly, looking at Leo. "I mean. Not now. I was feeling pretty messed up with the whole sanity thing... but now... I just don't care." She pressed her lips together, rubbing her chest. It still hurt, but she could take it.

Laughing whole heartedly now, the sorcerer leaned over the two, grinning broadly.

"I didn't expect it to take effect so soon." He stated, grin changing to a smirk. "But since I've heard of you, you've always been an uncommon factor. But now, I must ask your friends to leave. They aren't going to find the chalice, and you're doomed to a life with no joy or love. Theres no hope for you here."

@zCrookedz

((I'd be fine if you wanted to attack him. We could do a scene where the two fight, eventually overpowering the sorcerer and then heading to the chalice room with a joyless Banba and the rest of the gang.))

Leos starred blankly at Bamba. The shard had taken away her joy, her hope, everything that Leo had come to know Banba by, she had lost. The chalice had taken her insanity, and now the ice had taken her very being. The room was quiet to his ears as he gazed upon his friend. It wasn't until he heard the sorcerer speak of no hope that the world returned to him. A single tear rolled down the side of his face as it began to contort into pure rage. His brow furroed, his eye fixated on the magician leaning over them. The spirit of the forest began to resonate with Leo's being, providing him with a large amount of energy straight from the earth itself. A flash of green enveloped his good eye and his hands began to glow with a somewhat green flame. He stood tall and in a mighty leap mad a lunge at the sorcerer with his massive claws. Aiming for his face he attempted to grab the monster by his grey robes and rip and tear at the mans throat with his teeth like a wild animal.

((I hate to be the only one kicking this guys ass, but then again it doesn't seem like anyone else is online.))

Ducking out of Leo's way, the sorcerer gripped the crystal ball, rubbing it as he backed up to the edge of the platform. In front of him, one more golem, the size of leo, popped up, and immediately charged forward, meeting whatever charge the guardian was aiming at him.

Banba, meanwhile, stepped off the platfom, standing among the rest of the group. She frowned, still trying to remember how feelings felt on a sane mind. Slowly she came to recognize it as sadness- she had caused the fight to break out, she looked behind her, locating the large daggerLeo had handed her earlier. She had set it down when she moved to the front, deeming it unnecessary and a bad idea to have when she went up.

@zCrookedz

" Perish. " Nyr whispered as a forked lightning vaporized the two unsuspecting guard the the gates of the palace. As she continue to move forward ever so slowly she snapped with her fingers as a gale wind bashed the frontal doors in.

Walking in the ice ridden halls traps and summoned defenders of the sorcerer appeared to subdue her - a foolish mistake on their part.

" Die. " she said plainly as multiple bolts of lightning arced from her body, killing few guards instantly. The remaining soldiers who decided to strike were knocked away by the gale wind protecting her. She did not care about the fodder, she wanted to destroy the main culprit at any cost.

(Oh, but I do love how you're kicking this guys ass)

Elena shot Ward a look of "I know what I'm doing." She would volunteer for whatever the sorcerer had in store and then act as a distraction to grab Anya. When the time came though in which she could act, something expected occurred. banba, the sweet lizard girl volunteered. When she did, Elena was ready to step up in return, but it seemed the other was set on her choice. Instead, she materialized her sword once more and awaited his move, feeling guilt for setting up the moment. She wouldn't have taunted if she knew someone else was going to take the blow.

Elena watched the shifter girl move away from the platform with apathy and sadness. Leo attacked first, then Elena jumped in. Sword tight in hand and calm anger overtaking her expression, she awaited the sorcerers dodging, should he attempt to do so. When he did, she sprinted into the platform area and with both arms and all her force sliced at his neck.

Ward could not find words. Banba, moments after gaining her mind had sacrificed her heart. The thought made him angry. he watched the man cackle and felt a growl rumbling deep within his chest. When Elena charge he was right by her side, he followed up her attack with a full-body charge, opening his beak to grab the man by a spindly arm.

((@Jecklyn Would you like to continue controlling the sorcerer if you're around?))

Perking her ears towards the werewolf, Luness watched and listened intently as the healer shifted into her true form and then began to howl the song. The one true way that any were animal would sing. Taking a tentative step towards the healer, Luness continued to listen for a moment and then subconsciously joined in song, closing her eyes as she let the song envelope her mind and heart in a warmth that only a mother could bring to her child. Matching the song with the healer in song, Luness felt a lone tear begin to roll down her cheek, though it soon disappeared into her fur, leaving a small wet trail as remnants of its existence. The song was as follows...

"I have never loved someone the way I love you

I have never seen a smile like yours

And if you grow up to be cat or wolf or human

I will say you are my favorite one in the pack

I have never held a hand so soft and sacred

When I hear your laugh I know heaven’s key

And when I grow to be a poppy in the graveyard

I will send you all my love upon the breeze

And if the breeze won’t blow your way, I will be the sun

And if the sun won’t shine your way, I will be the rain

And if the rain won’t wash away all your aches and pains

I will find some other way to tell you you’re okay.

You’re okay..."

" Where. Is. He. " she gripped the throat of an unfortunate guard, raising it to the sky. Not saying anything her eyes narrowed. " Wrong answer. " she tossed the creature to the ground then stepped on its neck.

Looking at the pillars carved out from ice she yelled.

" You hide like children! " and with a furious sleight of hand she levitated all the cowardly soldiers out from hiding tossing them to the ice walls like toys.

" Do you hear me, wizard? " she bellowed with a deep, booming voice. " I will kill every underlings if I have to to get to you. You will burn! "

The healer stopped and the faint lines of a smile could be seen on her age-white muzzle. Your mother would be happy with the fine young were you have become," she said, going to grab another thin log in her teeth and toss it into the hearth. Suddenly it had gotten much colder. Beyond the window the healer could see the weather had taken a turn for the worse seemingly in an instant.

A low rumble escaped her jaws. "There's dark magic in that storm. I hope your friends didn't go out in it."

@Lioness075

The Wizard waited until all allies were upon him before he pulled his cloak up and vanished, sinking into the very ice under his feet.

He reappeared in another place and laughed excitedly. "Aww, you must have more than that!" With one wave of his hand the snow that covered the entire floor condensed and froze to a perfect sheet of solid ice. Ward who had missed his mark completely slipped and landed on his chin, sliding painfully into the throne. Chair and gryphon rolled, stopping in a heap by the wall.

He tried to rise, unsteady on the new terrain, his claws slipped and he could not gain a purchase.

"We can't attack in anger." He concluded slowly, shaking his throbbing head to clear it. "We must defeat him together."

Ward watched their enemy closely. It was just then the third golem appeared by his flank, sending its club hurtling down and missed the gryphon's head by a feather. Ward rolled and scrambled to his feet, legs splayed as he tried to stay upright.

He thought for a wild minute, which allowed the golem to recover and attack again, this time Leia's air spirit intervened, blowing the creature back, which was much easier to do on ice.

That gave Ward an idea.

"Let me give someone a boost." He said enthusiastically, but kept his voice low. If he used his strength to pull someone forward the momentum may be enough to catch the old wizard by surprise.

((The orb is also a source of his power, we can destroy that too))

When the healer finished singing, Luness stopped as well and opened her eyes again, quickly swiping at the wet stain in the fur on her face to hide the tear that she had shed. Smiling at the compliment, Luness watched silently as the healer added more wood to the fire, though the cold was beginning to pierce this place anyways. Her smile vanished instantly at the mention of her friends, though Luness was still wary of calling them that.

Walking to the window at the mention of a storm, Luness saw it and then felt a chill at her very core. No doubt that group had meandered into that danger. Looking away from the window, Luness felt herself torn in two. She wanted to stay here where it was safe and rest up, but despite finding some of the members of the group to be annoying, most of them had gone out of their way to help her when she was in need of it. What should she do?

The golem the wizard had conjured before Leo was dispatched quickly. It immediately attempted to swing a club at Leo but was easy to catch before it smacked him in the head. With hardly any effort, he smashed the club with his bare hand. Leo immediately reached up and grasped the golems head with both his paw like hands, the green flames licking at the creatures face. It began to make a humming noise as cracks from the pressure of his hands began to spread until the it finally busted into a thousand little pieces. The golems body froze and fell backwards down to the floor below. Leo turned to Ward after hearing his idea. He was ready for wards plan and prepared himself for the attack, but did not release his power his anger was providing him.

@sliverflight

Elena slipped and crashed into the wall as she missd and the floor turned to ice. Rubbing her should sorely and trying to calm herself so thoughts were clearer. She stayed down and crawled to WRd to check on him.

"Did you hit your head..?"

Ward suggested giving someone a boost, and unsure, she nodded.

"Alright. Sure. What can i do?"

Zelnite wakes from his deep slumber. "Did I oversleep?" he asks himself. He quickly got up, took his sword, and rushed outside. He realized most of the party went ahead so his only guide was the footsteps in the snow. After his journey he is finally at the door of the castle. Bursting in and crashing through the throne room. "Did I miss anything"

The healer looked Luness up and down and rolled her eyes, standing on her hind paws she reached for an old, tattered scarf hanging on a hook by the door. Her paws morphed slightly into hands as she fastened the cloth around Luness' injured limb.

"This should let you use your leg for running, but no more bone-breaking y'hear? Or it'll be ten times worse when you come back. Those dang fool tourists don't know this climate like you do. You'll probably be a good deal of help."

She made sure to fasten the cloth about Luness' chest as well to keep it from slipping off easily.

"Make sure that stays on all the while you intend to use that leg." She cautioned. "And don't get yourself killed."

The last bit was the she-wolf's gruff attempt at affection.

"Take this too." She hung a leather pouch around the werecat's neck, next to the charmed water keeping her mind together. "This powder will staunch bleeding, but it won't heal anything and doesn't do broken bones, and there isn't much so use it wisely."

When all was done she opened the door and swore colorfully as the icy wind hit her in the face.

"Well?" She prompted. @Lioness075

"My skull will be very sore tomorrow." He admitted to Elena, trying his best to help her to her feet. "Are you hurt?"

Then his eyes darted quickly to the orb. "We need that thing dispatched." He told her softly, looking at Leo and confirming the plan.

Ward leapt for Leo, allowing the guardian to grasp his wing.

The downstroke of a swan's wing can break a human leg. The downstroke of a gryphon's wing can jolly nearly break through stone, and it was this force that Ward used to hurl the big cat forward straight at their enemy. @zCrookedz @Bea Delaine

"Zel!" Leia shouted and nearly slipped off her feet. "This ice guy's nuts! he turned the floor into an ice rink!" The golems had been defeated but the sorcerer was still standing. "What can we do while we can barely stand?"
@PhantomNightmare

Alexander watched all that happened. Ice, great I hate ice, its just another form of water. One I can deal with, though. He thought to himself, leaning closer to the sheet, he blew a steady stream across it's surface, careful not to hit his friends. One cannot truly fight when hindered by ice, he figured if he could melt it away they would have a better shot. The ice melted away immediately under his flame, and the warmth slowly spread outward.

Anya, upon being thrown to her friends finally forced her eyes open. She had regained consciousness barely, before. She had seen a man who seemed like ice, but she couldn't stay awake to do anything about her situation at the time. Now she fought hard for her groggy consciousness, struggling to understand her surroundings.

Luness was taken by surprise at the healer's kindness and patiently waited while she wrapped the scarf around her injured arm and then around her chest. Letting the healer put the knapsack on her, Luness nodded at the bit of information and then quietly thanked the healer.

Watching the healer open the door and wait for her response, Luness nodded and then stepped outside before turning around to face the healer once more. "I, uh, I can't thank you enough. For everything," Luness said. Pausing Luness cocked her head and added, "I don't believe I ever caught your name...?"

Feeling the brittle and cold wind hitting her back, Luness was more than ready to make her way to wherever her group had wandered off to, but she felt compelled to know the healer's name before she left town.

@SilverFlight

Banba picked the sword up, turning it around in her hands, ignoring the feeling of ice suddenly under her feet. Looking back at the others fighting the wizard, she gripped the blade tighter, watching the others to see what they would do. Using her one foot, she pushed herself towards the others, but turned immediately when fire began splaying across the floor. Taken off guard, Banba slipped on the ice, desperately trying to push herself away from the flames, eyes wide with fear.

Motioning for Ashley to stay beside her, Quincy slipped toward the door of the room. She had an arrow nocked and as she stepped into the doorway, she draw it back as she sighted for a foe. There seemed to be only one, so thats where she set it. The arrow sped directly toward the side of dark wizard's head, a lethal shot if not stopped.

Elena nodded, examining him once more to be sure his was alright. She nodded, not sure if it was the time and place to continue or try to take care of injuries. She I've began to melt and she gave him a purposeful nod, taking that opportunity to scramble to her feet and find the orb. She took the object in her hands and nelt down to her knees. She smashed the object on the stone under the melted layer of ice as hard as she could.
