Fantasy Everything Is Not As It Seems...

He calmed himself down, then answered. "Okay sorry for that.... Just sit down would ya?" Asked him with a natural voice. He was really irritating right now, but as he was somewhat the same, he did not make any notes about him. He looked at the girl, hoping there wouldn't be any more conflict between them. "After you tell me all you know, I'll leave, but not till then."

I sigh crossing my arms and say, "The swat team. It was a test. But Tobias didn't tell us until after. We don't know when the next one will be or what it will be. That's all we know, now get out."

"It couldn't be only a test..." Answered Cole as he kept one of his hands on the wall, and put the other into his pocket. "Lake got almost killed." He said, and then after a few seconds he started to explain their meeting with the swat team. "In our case, we got shot at by a group of armed man, wearing and acting like a swat team. At last, Lake got shot by a dart, which contained some green liquid. It almost killed her. I'm sure there is more than Tobias said. What do you think about that?" His voice, and eyes were serious. He was not sure, if it was an other group that decided to kill them and they put the swat uniform up, or that they really were the swat team. He felt great confusion with the turn of events, but of one thing he was sure... Someone wanted them dead.

"As far as I'm concerned, Lake can go to hell. She was gonna commit suicide anyway. Now why don't you run along and talk to Tobias," I said with a certain coldness lacing my voice. I tried to help Lake and she shoved me away so I'm done feeling sorry for her I thought as I glared at Cole.

"You seem, to have mistaken the point of it." Answered Cole as he looked in her eyes. He was calm. He didn't want to argue, as this was something where joke had no place in. "They want us dead, and they have a way of doing so. From now on when we leave the facility, I'm sure we'll get into contact by them again, and I can only hope, that we'll be prepared enough not to die."

"Fine. The most we can do is watch our backs. Now get out," I said getting obviously irritated. I wanted him out and I wanted him out now.

After taking a deep breath, and sighing one, he stood up and turned to Oliver. "Oliver could you come out with me for a minute please?" Asked him nicely. "I would like to have a word with you in private."

I sighed. "Fine" I said stepping out of the room after one glance at Aurora "But it better be god damn quick."

Lake was lying in the medical room on white hospital bed with an oxygen mask over her mouth and wires in her nose and arms. Every time she moved it was like she was burning inside.

She had never felt so alone as right then. She felt really bad for saying what she said, but she knew it was too late to ask for a second chance and she knew that she would just screw up again.

I let out a frustrated sigh and laid back down on my bed. I stayed silent as I stared blankly at the ceiling and played with my hair.

Getting out of the room, Cole waited until Oliver came out and then he closed the door. He looked at him and started speaking silently. "You are into her, aren't you? I know it's not my business, but I like Lake just as much as you like Aurora. If that's just how I imagine, then you would like to protect her, and keep her away from danger, don't you?" He was waiting for a reply from Oliver. He had more things to say, but he wanted to be sure that Oliver will listen to him.

"Yeah of course I do" I said blandly "But thats my concern, not yours, so what is it you're asking?" I was glaring daggers at him. I had enough of this guy since day one.

"Don't you think, we could work better together on it? I know joining forces with me is not ringing quite well and I know you hate me from the bottom of your heart, but listen to me. Something really wants us to be killed. I don't know why, or who, but the ones we got encountered by weren't the same people you got tested on. If we put our powers together, we could protect them more. Even if it is only when we are outside the facility. Inside, I'll leave you alone, and won't speak to neither you, nor to her..." He said while pointed at Aurora's door. "... if that's what you would like. But when we'll be out there, surrounded with the enemy, you and I will only be able to protect the girls if we will stand there as a team. Listen... I know that for first it sounds very s***y, but just think about it. That's all I ask. And... Thanks for coming out." Cole, finishing his monologue, was waiting for Oliver's reaction. "If you want to, you don't have to give the answer right now. Just go back to her, and think about it sometimes. Think about how badly you would like to protect her, and when you will have decided, just find me."

I sighed and said "I'll think about it" before walking back into Aurora's room and shutting the door, locking it behind me. I went and sat next to Aurora in silence, running my hands through my hair and sighing loudly in frustration.

I noticed the frustration and decided it would be best to stay quiet. I sat up without saying a word and wrapped my arms around him. I closed my eyes momentarily and took a deep breath before letting out a sigh.

Cole was happy, he could persuade Oliver to think about it. After sighing one, he headed back to the medical room. Getting there, he sat next to Lake, hold her hand, and looked at her face. She seemed to have plenty of troubles in her mind, just as always. Cole smiled at her, and curiously waited to see the girl's reaction about her hands.

"You should probably get some sleep" I said reluctantly, as I didn't really want to leave "We've had a long day and we need to get some rest" I reluctantly moved her arms and stood up to leave.

I sighed internally and looked down at my hands. "You're leaving," I whispered, more of a statement than a question. I had a long day, but I really didn't care. I didn't want him to leave.

"Well I would sleep here" I said, turning to her "But the floor...doesn't look particularly comfortable to be honest."

I silently pull him down beside me and smile slightly. "You're not sleeping on the floor," I said closing my eyes as I laid my head on his shoulder.

I blushed a little and laughed nervously. "Oh" I said wrapping one arm around her "Yeah ok, I'll stay here then"

Lake looked at her and Cole's hand, and even though it hurt physically and mentally, she pulled her hands from his. "Y-you don't have to do that." She said with a raspy voice. She wanted to hold his hand. She wanted him to her her hand, just pulling away made het chest tighten, but she couldn't do it. "You don't have to be here if you don't want to… You don't have to." She felt tears in her eyes and grabbed hold of the sheets, she had to get herself together.

Cole smiled at the girl widely. He stood up, wiped the tears away from her eye, leaned above her, and kissed her forehead. Looking into her eyes again, he added: "I would like to." By that, he sat back, and hold her hand again with both of his hands.

Lake felt really uncomfortable, she wasn't made for this. She didn't know what to do with this kind of treatment. She felt her ears go red and was panicking, she wasn't in the position to deal with something like this yet. For one she almost killed herself today, two, she almost got killed and now Cole wouldn't let go of her hand, she couldn't deal with this today!

"We can't go go home, can we?" She asked in a whisper.

"If that what would make you happy, I go out and beat up the world. Finish with those Tobi mentioned, and take you home safely." He said while he caressed her hand. "After that, you only have to master your abilities, so that no one could get hurt by accident. That way you can live a new, and normal life."
