As she leapt, Quinn dropped. The great ape's arm flew harmlessly overhead. The Captain reached up and jammed his knife into the monsters rippling bicep. Holding on tight, Quinn was lifted into the air by the attacking monster. The beast stood over 2 feet taller than Quinn, and had nearly 600 pounds on him, but Quinn looked it dead in the eye. "Aye mate."

The jamming his knife in the bicep would be considered auto-hitting. You might want to change that so that it is more like he then proceeded to jam his knife.
