Fantasy Element Academy

Skye sighed as she seemed to have been forgotten, so she began to wander to one of the many viewing rooms, her 'Stick tapping along the grounND as she continued on her way. She began to wonder how the contestants were doing, though it was just the beginning she knew that something had to be going down that was interestinf, if not that was just out of the normal.

@Lola Shimmer

4 gongs suddenly sounded to signal 4 deaths. The death count would go off every ten minutes to let competitors know how many people were left. Ivan looked up again. It was getting darker and darker. Was this some umbramancer's trick? Ivan didn't know, but didn't like it.

(Expect changes my next post)

Luna looked up when she heard the 4 gongs. She knew from past years, it signaled a "death". Four contestants were already out. That meant that there should be 5 other people out there. Sooner or later, she'd have to leave her cave to find food.

How long had she been here, anyway? It didn't seem like that long, but it was getting dark. It couldn't be night already, could it?

"Four down already, huh...?" Kuroha said to himself, someone jumping on out at him. A female Aeromancer, and Kuroha's classmate at that as a fifth year. "Hey, you know you shouldn't leap at me," Kuroha said to the girl. "Kuroha, you think I'd give a damn 'bout that? Y'know, you're real dense Kuroha." The girl said, spinning their staff in front of them as they flew down and at Kuroha. Raising a single hand, Kuroha caught them by the staff and with an open palm, blew them back all the while snatching the staff from them by circling his arm down as he grabbed it. "Let's fight without this thing, shall we?" Kuroha said, tossing the staff back to the aeromancer as they landed at the side of Kuroha's clearing in the forest.

"Thanks, but I don't need th' generosity." The female aeromancer said. "Very well then, Haru." Kuroha said, knowing now to be the perfect time do let out one of his 'tricks'. "Alright, time for a little fun," Kuroha said as he pulled out his staff in a really fast spinning motion that kept going as he brought it above his head, keeping it spinning really fast and everything. "Well, hopefully it doesn't take suicidal amounts of energy to create a tornado," Kuroha said as wind rapidly began picking up in the surrounding area. Soon, basically the whole forest was with a lot of wind blowing through it, the leaves all rattling and blowing all over the place due to the wind. Soon, the wind began taking visible form as a small tornado, one that was only visible from near the clearing due to only enveloping Kuroha but still leaving him partly visible.

"Bang," Kuroha said as he aimed a finger at his opponent and focused the entire tornado around the finger, shooting a sideways tornado kind of thing from his finger and it hitting the opponent before they could really react, the tornado bullet going along with them all the way out of the forest and sending them over into a cave that, unknown to Kuroha, had another person inside of it. Just as impact with the back of the cave was about to occur, the person was teleported out, albeit already unconscious from the fact of being sent flying by a miniature sideways tornado. Kuroha didn't exactly get to see if the person was out or not due to sending them way out of his field of vision, but knew it was more than likely that he'd taken Haru out of the battle.

((Yeah, Kuroha just did that. He just, out of nowhere, shot a tornado like a bullet :x Lemme know if I went too OP or something there xD ))

(Sorry for the lateness =3= Busy couple of days)

Kaia quickly made herself scarce as she heard the nearby sounds of a fight, taking shelter at the top of a tree to lie in wait for the winner of the battle. They'd most likely be tired and/or hurt, and while Kaia wasn't keen on easy pickings, that was the way the cookie had to crumble. Plus, she was eager to show off. A large spout of water shot through the trees, startling Kaia slightly, and the area went quiet, the sounds of the victor's footsteps quickly retreating, obviously wary of anyone who'd noticed their display and Kaia debated with herself on whether or not to follow them. She had to make the decision quickly, before she fell so far behind that someone else decided to take her opportunity, then she'd probably be forced to fight whomever that may be, and she might even be forced to fight whoever it was she was debating on following at the same time. That wouldn't be good.

Quickly, Kaia brought what she learned during her month long training into play. It was a secret, and even Po wasn't aware of where the girl disappeared to so often, when they weren't training together, of course. She barely ate, or slept, during that time, and she knew her friends were worried, but she refused to go down the way she had last time, even if it meant pushing her pride aside and asking someone for help.

The gravity on her body lessened, just enough to make her footsteps feather light, and she dropped to the grass, her movements jerky and quick. It was like that that she followed who she soon found to be Ivan, flitting behind trees and waiting for her moment to strike, silent as a mouse.

Ivan vaguely sensed a mass of water moving behind him, but he passed it off as an animal in his distracted state. The tournament started at 1:00 pm and couldn't have been running for more than 20 minutes. With how unnaturally dark it was, something was definitely off. He decided to scale the nearest tree to try and get a vantage point. After only a moment a dark mist rolled over him, When his vision cleared he was terrified to see three Reapers

grim_reaper_commission_by_n_deed-d5ivirq.jpg
This was more than most people see in their lifetime. What was truly terrifying was that these usually secluded and uncooperative creatures were walking in a distinct formation. There were only a few beings that could do such a thing, but considering there were probably more of them the options narrowed to only one. The dark Overlord put this together, and it appeared to be an invasion force. Why would there be an invasion force? He would need to put more thought into it, but one thing became clear. Today was the least organized all year and the teachers would be scattered an unprepared. On top of that, the students who were best at fighting and could prove the most troublesome were all scattered around in easy reach of the oncoming forces. War was being declared and the best fighters were soon to be whipped out if nothing happened soon.

Ivan jumped out of his tree and dashed straight for the lake. He would cross the river and that would help. On his way back he spotted Kaia and shouted for her to run away. He had a feeling the safety of teleportation was no longer an option over death. If he could just get to the lake, he could try to make a big enough show to warn the remaining contestants. Despite being the best in school, none of them stood a chance against a Reaper in a one on one fight.

Xel had taken down his second opponent who proved more of a challenge than the first. No easy one hit kill, an actual challenge that had left him the winner albeit with a bloody hand from injuries he had sustained while defending himself. Xel made his way out of the forest, heading back to his section. It was about time for a power up from one of those generators. "What the hell?" Xel stopped in his tracks when he saw how dark the sky had become. He had no idea what time it was but it definitely wasn't night and it only got this dark at night. His eyes narrowed as he headed back into the forest, discharging electricity over a large area to try and locate the others. They had to group up and leave. Fast. For something like this to happen, a powerful force was at work. It could even be one of them....

Sweat trickled down the side of Xel's face as a lump formed in his throat at the thought, his heart sinking.

He broke into a sprint towards the lake that one of the contestants was headed towards. Many strong students had been taken out, injured, throughout BoC. There were few capable students who hadn't participated and the rest were all gathered here fighting for the title of strongest in school. They couldn't afford to have another student taken out. They had to be stopped before then.

As the lake came into view, so did the other contestant. Ivan. He sensed the worry, anxiety and determination in him as he raced towards him. "You're the big fish! Draw them over! I'll find the leftovers who don't come and get them out!" Hell he didn't give a damn about the academy but that didn't mean he was so heartless that he'd just let someone die.

Ivan, having run further than he was accustom to, was a bit out of breath and couldn't reply to Xel. Instead he just looked over at him and gave a thumbs up. Turning his attention back towards the lake, he summoned some water to help him get there faster. Once in the lake he lifted much of it above the shore. He began to spiral it to draw everyone's attention with sheer noise and size. He also started systematically dropping some to the ground and picking it up again to make loud clapping noises. If anyone died to the Reapers... no he couldn't count that as a possibility right now.

The night was... rather sudden. No, it's not night at all. It's impossible it be night, because the air was still with slight warmth of the day. It was too early to be night anyway, and Kuroha knew it. He immediately knew what was going on. He took immediate notice of Ivan's little signal, rather quickly creating a thin tornado that was almost like a pillar holding up the sky above, shooting up form his position just a moment to let Ivan know Kuroha had gotten the signal. Kuroha had plenty things to tell him it was Ivan, but given the situation he didn't really bother looking for signs it was Ivan as he knew that whoever it was was obviously sending out a signal. Kuroha knew there to be five left, so he'd given his signal and Ivan'd given his, meaning three others Kuroha would need worry about.

((Soo... Thinking of having Kuroha run into a reaper and be put in one-on-one against them... Sound like a fun little thing to have happen protecting someone or some shtuffs? :P ))

Kaia had been trailing behind Ivan with anxiety riddled plans flying through her head one minute, and was wide eyed and confused the next. He ran right past her, and shouted one word. He didn't attack her, or do really anything but zip past, a terrified look on his face.

"Run!" He'd shouted.

That was about the moment she realized she was screwed. The fear in his face alone sent ripples of fear through her as well, and she looked up, suddenly aware that it was dark as night. Kaia's eyes widened, and as the mist grew closer she realized what she-what they were up against. How they got there, she didn't know. She didn't know how many, or exactly where, but she turned and took heed of Ivan's warning, running as fast as her body would allow. She was fast, but with the panic and fear scattering her thoughts and making her chest heave she lost control of her element, leaving her not even half as fast as she was before when she was tailing Ivan.

Niou stared up at the sky from the cliff that peaked over the lake, her eyes narrow and her brow furrowed in confusion. Time seemed to sleep away from her a lot but this was ridiculous; it couldn't possibly be night. The girl looked down at the spiral of water that seemed to summon by the lake, and it wasn't hard for her to figure out who was behind it. The frown on her face deepened... something caused the battle to be put on hold. Something was wrong. In an instant she took a few steps back to get a running start, and she quickly made the jump to meet Ivan on the top of the tower of water. Her feet merely rippled the surface, and the ribbons of water around her fell down to join with the tower as she focused her own energy into helping Ivan create more noise through it. "What the hell's going on?!" she shouted as she strained herself to help Ivan build the power of the water's waves.

@Shog

"I don't have all the drains," Ivan shouted back, "but there's Reapers. I only saw three, but they seemed to be in some sort of formation that indicates there are many more. I'm just trying to notify the other contestants. Xel is finding others as we speak and I'm pretty sure Kuroha got my message."

Luna heard water rushing and peered out of her cave. A column of water was high up in the air. It looked like a geiser, but she realized it was a signal, a warning. She was about to send up a column of light when she saw what looked like a reaper, or a really scary umbramancer. She waited until it passed before sending up a beam of light and sprinting to the lake where she found Ivan and Niou.

"I...I saw a reaper. I think. Please tell me I'm wrong." She panted shakily.

@Shog

@AoRo

Making mad dash toward Ivan's geyser, Kuroha found himself spotting reapers while running atop the trees. He knew stuff was up for sure at that point, leaping out from the forest and spinning upside-down midair, facing toward the forest. Behind him was the lake with everybody there, and in front of him was, well, the forest. "Hurry on up everybody! We've got a bit of a reaper problem!" Kuroha shouted, stretching his whole body out before throwing himself into a curled position and spinning backwards into the water, having stretched straight last-moment to properly dive in. He quickly shot on out of the water and onto land, bandages a bit soaked now but the cloak pretty well-off due to being water-resistant.

((Soo... Who wants to be the person Kuroha protects at the cost of an arm? xD ))

"R-Reapers... what? Now? A-and here of all places?!" Niou exclaimed with a slight stutter, fear plain in her eyes. BoC was one thing. Sure, there were a few injuries here or there, but no one actually died from the fights. But with something so powerful now invading the game, it was possible, and it frightened the girl.

She looked over at Luna as she met up with them via her tower of light, and with a slow shake of her head Niou silently said no. Her muscles were quivering not just from the strain of helping Ivan with the geyser of water but from terror coursing through her veins. This was all supposed to be a game for fun, to claim who was the strongest. That's all she wanted; she didn't ask to risk her life like this. "What do we do?" she panicked.

@Shog @Kestrel

Xel discharged yet another wave of electricity as raced away to track down the other contestants. His urgency and desperation had surged significantly when an earlier discharge had notified him of a worrying presence. Reapers. He glanced at his hand. He was losing more blood than he had expected. He had to get out fast to treat it. The discharges of electricity sent him changing course. Everyone had headed to the lake. Way to go Ivan. He turned around, sprinting back to the lake. The reapers were getting closer and he definitely couldn't afford running into one with his hand in its state. Hell he wouldn't have had a chance even if it was fine. "That's everyone! Let's move!" He shouted as soon as he came within range of the lake. His eyes widened when he saw Kuroha dive into the water for who knows whatever reason. "Not the time for superman to make his appearance Kuroha! We got to get out of here now!" Xel flinched, turning around when his discharge warned him of the proximity of the reapers. They were just behind them. How the hell had they gotten here so quickly? Shit, shit, shit. "GO!"

((Go for it, Kaia's the only one left. @Kiyoko Tomoe ))

Kaia came flying, quite literally, out of the trees. The mist had caught up quickly, and she could feel the reapers gaining momentum behind her. Panic wound around her heart and for a moment it seemed it was beating so hard it'd disappeared altogether, until her foot caught on a branch hidden by the thick mist. Time seemed to slow for a moment, a loud yelp of surprise slipping past her lips, before she landed with a groan. She was dizzy, having hit her head rather hard on the ground, and could vaguely feel a throbbing in her wrist.

Xel cursed when another discharge turned his attention back to the forest. How could he have missed it? How could he have let himself get so overwhelmed by the reapers to the point that he had failed to notice that one person hadn't yet gotten here and was now dangerously close to the approaching reapers. He glanced at his arm then the rest of the people present. Almost no one ever survived an encounter with a reaper and even if they did they never got out unscathed. His armour was probably the weakest and provided the least protection due to it being designed with the intention of prioritizing speed and mobility over defense. Still if he used his magic, he might just be able to get there and back far enough to avoid an encounter with a reaper. If there was even a slim chance that they could get out of this without anyone having to face a reaper then he'd gamble on that chance no matter how dangerous. "Get out of here and find the teachers first! There's still someone left by the forest."

Ivan gently-ish put down the water back in the lake. "I'll take care of her," Ivan announced. "You just…". He was cut short, suddenly feeling oddly dizzy and almost like he might throw up. Had he just exerted his powers too far? He didn't think so, but he didn't have time to contemplate it. He fell to one knee, staring that the ground, trying to gain control again.

"You kidding me Ivan? You just expended your energy to draw everyone over here. As it is you can barely stand. If you go to retrieve her you'll just add your name to the list of dead people that we will have to report to the teachers. Just get the hell out of here!" Xel blasted Ivan in response to his attempt to go retrieve the girl instead. "I'll go retrieve her. I'll be back for sure so the rest of you should just focus on leaving. If it's me then the chances of facing the reapers is lower even if only by a bit."

"Ivan!" Niou ran over to him, staggering a bit herself but somehow she was maintaining. She felt drained of her energy too, but it was mostly the adrenaline at this point that was keeping her from collapsing like the hydromancer beside her. "Com on... X-Xel's got this." she looked over at said man and gave a grateful nod. "I'll help him out. We better see you again." she demanded as two ribbons of water came from the still-unsteady lake, surrounding her like she had up before for defensive purposes. "Can you get up?" she focused her attention back to Ivan worriedly.

Ivan grabbed his trident and planted the butt into the ground. He used it for support and shakily stood up. "Get her, and get out. Don't try any hero crap and try fending the Reapers off. Everyone else, get back to the school. It's our only chance."

(@Kiyoko Tomoe If you want to go fight a Reaper, do it now)

"No, all of you just get away from here. I''ll handle it, while you all get out of here." Kuroha said as he placed his staff behind his back inside his cloak, not giving the others a moment to even say yes or no as he would vanish on the spot to prevent the others from stopping him. He was the president, it was his job to help the students out. He couldn't call himself student government president if he let somebody else risk chance with reapers for his sake. This time was different than usual on the teleport though, in the sense he didn't bother hold back the high winds he'd create upon moving, as there's no time to waste energy just to hold back wind. From his movement came winds that could cut a person up if they were right next to the source, but since they were all at least a little bit away from him, it was just a heavy amount of wind in their faces.

Kuroha headed right to where he'd heard the scream, finding himself right above the person who'd screamed with his back facing downward towards them as a reaper swung its scythe. "Run! To the lake!" Kuroha shouted, just momentarily grabbing the reaper's scythe and diverting it enough to keep from hitting the girl. One foot landing on the scythe that currently stuck in the ground, Kuroha's other foot flew right at the reaper's 'head' with a blast of wind knocking it back a tiny bit but without managing to make it fall. Kuroha landed on the ground, spinning out his staff as two other reapers were there just behind the first. "Well damned if I can kill all there," Kuroha said to himself as he was immediately thrown into combat once more.

One reaper quickly rushed straight in front of Kuroha, scythe swinging fast at him with him being made block using the sharp tips on the end of his staff. Another had managed get behind Kuroha before he could do anything else, swinging at him as well with him forced to let go of his staff a moment and spin over the staff, back real close to it as the scythe went right by his face but missed due to Kuroha kicking the scythe's hilt last-second and barely moving it upwards so it wouldn't tear his head off. The third was what would be the most difficult though, Kuroha knew. Grabbing his staff from behind him, all that'd just happened was in mere seconds with the third coming as well and from the opposite direction Kuroha'd gone in while going over his staff.

The third reaper's scythe coming from underneath, Kuroha used his staff like a javelin and slammed it down on the scythe's hilt with a ton of wind wrapped around it, pinning the scythe momentarily. A foot placed on the scythe, Kuroha kicked off and went completely sideways in the air, one scythe going over him and another below him. He was literally dancing with death here trying to distract them long enough let the other person get by. Spinning around so his back faced up as the scythes passed by, Kuroha grabbed hold of the scythe that'd gone over him, being dragged with it and letting go as the scythe came to a stop, sliding off to the side and out of the way of the reapers just a moment, sort of moving away from Kaia.

As the reaper who's scythe he'd pinned pulled their scythe up and launched Kuroha's staff in the process, all three came rushing right at Kuroha. Pulling his right hand in, Kuroha had a wire attached to his staff, pulling it in really fast and sending wind spiraling around the staff heavily by transferring it through the wire. He managed hit one of the reapers before even they could react, which was saying something about how fast his scythe had moved in thanks to that wind. That was one down, as that staff of his managed divert one reaper's scythe into smashing through another. Kuroha meanwhile letting go of the wire attached to his staff. Really, he'd been lucky on that one but he was already starting to tire out against these reapers.

This time without time for Kuroha to react, the two came swinging scythes at either side of him. All he could do was, well, force out a tornado right then and there, block the scythes just long enough for him to get on out of that specific spot where he'd get cut to pieces. "Sheesh... Since when were reapers cooperative like this!?" Kuroha shouted to himself, managing reach his staff only to be in same position again but this time manging block both scythes with the ends of his staff. Unfortunately, Kuroha knew it'd only last a second or two as if he'd used to to try and permanently hold the scythes, they'd break his staff to shreds.

Because of the fact Kuroha's staff would break if he tried using it too long to block, a quick twist of one side of the staff by detaching the other allowed him change the flow of the scythes just a little before dropping his staff to the ground, using it like a pole and swinging around to give hell to one of them. A hard kick toward the reaper's side, Kuroha heard bones crack just a little but not even come close to breaking. Damn... Not enough strength even with my wind... Guess my only option's either holding them off or getting them to destroy each other like they did to one of each other, and I don't think I'll have as much luck as I did previously...

Kuroha's thoughts were going by real fast, him trying to figure out how to get through this alive, hopefully unscathed. No, he knew that would be impossible, getting out unscathed. Heck, he'd probably wind up dead but it was better than somebody else dying. Pushing off from the reaper he'd just kicked, he barely avoided getting his leg taken off and spun around his staff once more, also barely avoiding his face getting torn off by the other reaper as he let go of his staff, flying past the two reapers and even further from Kaia's previous position. Kuroha really hoped Kaia would be gone by now, as well as that no more reapers would show up before Kuroha could escape as well. Really, Kuroha was expecting to die here without getting a second reaper down.

So much had happened in such a short time, but given it was reapers, it made sense everything would be so fast-paced. Kuroha was breathing a little heavily right now, awaiting his death as he tried live as long as he could. At this point he was just dodging everything and anything by mere millimeters, and honestly he knew he'd get hit eventually. It wasn't really a matter of if he'd die or get hit at this point, just a matter of when. He was hoping though, that 'when' for Kaia running, was a while ago. Kuroha had gotten to a slightly denser part of the forest at this point, enough so that the reapers would be hitting trees down as Kuroha dodge, delaying their scythes ever so slightly which would at least help Kuroha live a little longer.

@Moony

((Yeah, I know... Nine paragraphs, pretty long but it was just so fun typing up Kuroha just about getting killed a few times by the reapers :3 Also a few things I think you might want me to change Shog, but hopefully I handled this all properly and make it an enjoyable dance with death...? :P ))

Kaia blinked, still a bit dazed, and looked up as someone stood between her and the reapers. Another person telling her to run. Her eyes widened and she seemed to come back to her senses when a scythe was aimed at her and Kuroha, as she now saw, diverted it so it just barely missed her. She tried to stand, but nearly fell again when she placed her right hand on the ground, a sharp pain flaring in her wrist. Once she got to her feet, cradling her wrist, she backed a few steps and watched Kuroha, debating with herself on whether to leave him or not. If she left now and he died... But she wouldn't be much help as a close-combat specialist, whose wrist was badly sprained on top of that. What he needed was a strong elementalist to help him out, and once again Kaia was rendered useless. They'd probably both die if she stayed, and then his stupid attempt at protecting her would be a waste.

Grimacing, both angry and upset, she decided to listen for once. "You better not die Air Head!" Kaia shouted loudly at him, and then turned and sprinted towards the others, trying to push away the sudden turmoil inside her head and ready herself for whatever was to come next.

Luna turned towards where she thought the school was. By now, it was so dark that she couldn't tell which way it really was. She summoned an orb of hovering light and looked around. The group seemed tired and scared, but mostly unscathed. She finally spotted the school in the distance. "This way!" She shouted, running to the school with the light orb.
