Fantasy Element Academy

Niou stayed close to Ivan as they ran to make sure he wouldn't get left behind. The girl's muscles were screaming for rest because helping the hydromancer with the geyser of water took so much out of her, but she would be damned if she was going to collapse now. It was shock and fear that was pumping the adrenaline through her. "Come on, come on..." she grit her teeth, glancing over her shoulder and shooting ice shards out from the ribbons of water the moment she saw the figure of a Reaper in the distance. She obviously didn't come close to injuring it despite one of the spikes grazing its shoulder, but she didn't bother to check. She forced herself to look back ahead and keep running after Luna. "We could have used the teleporting to our advantage... try and fake an attack on each other to instantly teleport to safety." she let out a laugh but there was no humor behind it.

Ivan hadn't felt this useless for many years. He wanted to help Kuroha, but couldn't. There was no way he was strong enough to even throw his trident and he didn't have the strength to use the water in any helpful way. Instead he followed Luna towards the Academy hoping everyone would make it out alive. They had just reached one of the outer courtyards and were getting close to the entrance. If the school all fought together, they might win this battle. But this was only the first step in a war and he knew it.

Before Xel could say anything else, Kuroha had vanished. He huffed as he turned to the rest of the group. Ivan was being helped by the necromancer girl and a lumamancer was urging others to follow as she led the way, lighting the path. He looked back in the direction, trying to see if he could find the last student and Kuroha. He discharged yet another wave of electricity but was hit with a sudden throbbing in his head as it cut off before it could reach. "Oh come on!" He stared down at the small pool of blood that had formed by his feet. The wound had affected him more than he had expected and pain was starting to shoot up his arm. He scowled as he gripped his arm tightly to increase the pressure and slow the blood loss. With his arm like this he wasn't going to be of any use to anyone. He cast one more glance at the forest before following the rest. "Don't die Prez."

A second pull of his staff, just as the reapers had gotten one in front one behind Kuroha. Kuroha was basically forced to strategic combat at this point. Luckily he'd re-grabbed his staff's wire when he swung around it, having had previously to let go o it wouldn't get cut by the scythes during everything as well as to allow him better movement. A dive right below the reaper's scythe as it swung, it went straight between his feet and lucky for him, missed his cloak as well. The other reaper meanwhile had been swinging diagonally at Kuroha from bottom to top, missing Kuroha's foot by inches while Kuroha's staff came in and stabbing in the ground right beside him, able to turn and pull both his feet to one side of the scythe previously between them.

Kicking with air to move from his current position, Kuroha managed get back far enough at least be able to get a crouching position, though left his staff behind albeit a wire running flat on the ground and to his hand that he could pull again if need be. In fact, he pulled his staff back right now, deciding it was now or never to get the hell out of here. About to take a run, Kuroha found a scythe flying right at the side of his head from behind him, him barely having time to block using his own left arm. Well there went use of his arm for a while, as a scythe had stuck right through the center of it running in from the back and out the forearm. Spinning his legs up, albeit with pain in his arm, Kuroha managed get a foot on the hilt of the scythe stuck in his arm, giving a good hard push to pull his arm from it.

Arm loose, Kuroha sprung from it and ruled on the ground right past the other reaper, making a mad dash and this time actually managing get a running start. Quickly placing his staff back inside his cloak, as he passed by where the first reaper was destroyed he decided it best quickly snatch the scythe as a souvenir of sorts. Plus, it would make for good quick travel as he could probably use it like a board of some sort across the water. Catching up to Kaia while making a mad dash, Kuroha came to a sliding stop. "Let's get going!" Kuroha said, blood staining the bandages around his left arm as it was clear he'd been stabbed severely by something around that area. "We need to get back to the school as quickly as possible, as I suspect we'll be needed helping out there."

School grounds were crowded with panicky students and fear was rampant when they learned of the approaching reapers. They needed every able bodied person on campus to fight the reapers but unless they calmed down then fighting the reapers as they were was suicide.

Adrienne had gotten up a long time ago when she had learned that there were reapers in the Battle of Champions and she stood at one of the courtyards with her weapon activated and standing near the shadows, waiting for someone or something to come out.She breathed and blocked out the panicky noises coming from the other students and tried the tune her ears to where she thought something would happen.It wasn't like she want panicking or scared, because she was, but she had to push that aside for a few minutes and concentrate.

Ivan was beginning to regain his strength. Students were everywhere panicking. A few were trying to maintain order with the teachers, but it wasn't working. He needed to think of something fast.

Relief washed over Xel as he absorbed electricity. The bleeding had been stopped and the wound was now well bandaged. He could feel himself regaining the strength he had lost with his blood and looked around him at the panicking students. At present, he could only think of one way to calm them down. Show them that they had a chance against the reapers. It would raise morale or at the very least alleviate their fears and panic he hoped. Problem was which people could team up and take a reaper down? Their ever influential president had yet to make an appearance and if anyone could persuade the entire student body it was him and yet he was nowhere in sight. Xel stared in the direction of the arena. If he died then things were only going to get worse. "Come on Kuroha where the hell are you?" The mist had thickened considerably since they fled the arena and it was now like an approaching dark cloud of nightmares.

Ivan had recovered enough energy to try and make an announcement. He climbed to the top of a wall and banged the end of his trident down. "LISTEN!" He exclaimed. Many people turned towards him and stopped talking. It was the best he would get. "Yes, Reapers are closing in. That doesn't mean we have no chance. Form groups, grab your weapon, and create a plan of attack. Upper classman, protect everyone you can. Do not go out of your way to attack one and never approach one with less than two companions. We can and will win." He was never one for inspirational speaches, but he hoped they would trust him on this.

Luna looked around. Most people were grouping up with their friends. She searched for a familiar face, but saw none, so she headed towards Ivan. "Umm...Wanna work together?"

@Shog

Kaia seemed surprised that Kuroha had caught up so quickly, but nodded, her eyes lingering for a moment on his arm. A humorless smile twisted her lips upwards and she chuckled, turning to sprint towards the school. "At least you didn't die."

Her thoughts flickered to Po and worry puckered her brow, causing her to push her legs a little faster. There could be more reapers anywhere on the grounds, and she'd feel a lot more confident fighting with Po on her side. She burst onto the grounds, met with panicked students and chaos. Her lips pursed and she paused, assessing the situation. There wasn't a chance of them defending themselves and winning like this.

"Hey," She said suddenly, having to raise her voice a bit in an attempt to talk over the noise as she glanced over to Kuroha, "do me a favor and keep an eye out for Po? Oh, and get your arm taken care of before you do anything stupid." She didn't have time to wait for a reply and slipped through the crowd, sighing in relief when Ivan took things into his own hands and everyone settled down a bit. She needed to splint her wrist until she could get to a healer, but she knew she wouldn't be able to fight with it like that, so settled for searching for bandages. After that, she'd help strategize. And look for Po.

@Kiyoko Tomoe @Halcyon

"Yeah, but I did lost most use of my left arm. At least I got a souvenir out of it, the scythe of a reaper that I'd been fortunate enough to have get destroyed while the three reapers were trying their damnedest to kill me." Kuroha said, spinning the scythe forward and jumping onto the blade of it as he held it upside-down, tip facing back. He'd ride it as he was all the way there to the school, using wind to make it move. Scythes were really useful it seems, having a blade to stand on as well as create wind around to propel himself forward. He kept a pace matching Kaia's though, mainly because he was low on what he could do at the moment.

When they reached the school, Kuroha nodded to Kaia as she left, letting her know he got the message about getting his arm taken care of and everything. First things first though, he hopped off the scythe and spun it, placing it across his shoulders and walking on over to where Ivan stood attempting an inspirational speech. "Hey Ivan, never thought I'd see the day you gave a speech like this," Kuroha said quite smugly, having taken down his hood and undone the bandages around his head so it'd be easier recognize him. The bandages were all for show and weight anyway, so he didn't need them on or anything like that.

"Anyway, disregarding that, I bet everybody by now can guess what the hell's up with my arm by the current events and the fact I'm holding a scythe..." Kuroha said jokingly, keeping the mood light but serious at the same time. "Anyway everybody, as you can clearly see, we have reapers to deal with. Don't panic though, because the situation's not as bad as it seems for us. I want you all to be in groups of three and four, preferably in diverse groups when it comes to elements. The recommended groups are as follows: Gravamancer, fulgurmancer, and aeromancer; Umbramancer, geomancer, and floramancer; then for teams of four, Hydromancer, pyromancer, lumamancer, and ferramancer."

"Gravamancer, fulgurmancer, and aeromancer should be fighting only in open spaces where they can keep a distance and with plenty of things to shift the gravity of, preferably the gravamancer using gravity to attempt holding the reapers at a slower pace and such." Kuroha said, groups beginning to form at this point. "As for the Umbramancer, geomancer, and floramancer; your advantage is places like caves and forests, where it's dark and there's a lot of raw material to make use of. Preferred that floramancers and geomancers do the job of shifting the terrain around them to slow down the reapers as well as trying to do things like trap them in pitfalls, meanwhile the umbramancer take care of the main combat but prioritize safety. Don't even think of going suicidal to kill a few reapers."

"Now then, the group of four, pyromancer, hydromancer, lumamancer, and ferramancer. You'll deal with more tactical locations, playing your strengths like being able to easily traverse water, as well as the fact that some hydromancers can freeze on large scales thus making it possible to do a hot-cold kind of cooperation between hydromancer and pyromancer. You'll also work as sort of messenger groups with your abilities that allow easy creation of visible structures like shooting flames, creating pillars of water or light, etc."

Kuroha was pretty much trying take charge here, let everybody have somebody to call their leader and give them the will to fight. "Do note that if you feel a certain grouping of elements would be better by the style of the people, come to me or a member of the planning committee from the Student Cultural Society, as they're all trusted by me when it comes to tactic and such. Explain to them or me why you're better off in that group setup, and they'll judge whether or not it's a good idea. There are also many of you oriented to healing, so please go and apply to help heal those who wind up injured if you feel you're not up to combat."

Finished with his little speech, Kuroha took stroll from the place beside Ivan and on over some healers he knew pretty well, having them begin work immediate on his injured arm all the while the sporting of a reaper's scythe on his back enough to give just a little more confidence to everybody by seeing that reapers could be beaten. He'd keep silent about the fact he didn't exactly beat a reaper himself though, and that it'd been a lucky break in which one reaper hit another to pieces. Even then though, it let Kuroha himself know tactically making them hit each other could work on reapers assuming that tactics, speed, and luck were on their side.

((Keh, you think you're just so high n' mighty showing off like that, don't you Kuroha? >~>))

"Yes feel free, but I do have to make a stop first," Ivan said to Luna before Kuroha made his speech. He then raised his voice once more for a final announcement. "Before you get too settled into you groups, I want the Academy's best strategists to meet in the observatory. We will formulate plans and take stock of our current situation. If we do this right, we will see the mornings light tomorrow." He then stepped down and began making his way towards the school.

Adrienne listened to the speech and narrowed her eyes slightly.The was only one or two others that she really knew that was in her house.She looked around and she slipped off into the shadows and stayed there for a little while.

Xel grinned when he saw Kuroha appear beside Ivan. The scythe on his back raised his hopes and all around him he could sense and see the hope it had given other students. Soon they were following his instructions and forming groups according to their elements. Everything was going great and now actually had a fighting chance. All he had to do now was find a group. Except he didn't know any aeromancers or gravamancers other than Randall, Kuroha and the girl who made it to finals.

She had struggled when the teachers had escorted her to the battlegrounds. She had struggled to remain still as she waited for the gong to go off. She had struggled to move when it eventually rang in her ears. Now, Marissa was struggling to comprehend why she had not come in contact with any of the other finalists.

Marissa knew time must have past for she had watched the sky darken above her. Yet she couldn't help but feel unnerved about her situation. Once she had left her starting section, Marissa had gone to the forest zone figuring that was where most of the others had ended up. While trekking through the trees Marissa thought she heard faint sounds of people fighting. However the closer she moved to the sound the fainter it got until all she could hear was the leaves rustling in the trees.

Worry and confusion began to build inside of her even more, when Marissa heard a loud splash come from her left side. With haste, Marissa tackled through the forest plants reaching the rim of the trees where she spotted a lake. In the distance she saw small dots moving quickly, which she assumed were people. Joy filled Marissa as she made her way to the water's edge but paused before going any farther. Marissa almost forgot that the competition was still going on (although it ain't). Using her energy, Marissa coated her skin with electric pulses and created another barrier of lighting a few inches wider around her. Now more cautious about her actions and no longer seeing the dots in the distance, Marissa moved forward in the direction she saw them unaware of the dark figures coming up from behind her.

((Okay so I know that this is late and door about that. Also ignore dots as in plural the only possible human by that time she could have seen is Kuroha))

(To try and pick things up a bit, I will now accept two characters per person. All rules apply, but your two characters must oppose each other (@Kiyoko Tomoe is an exception because she has had her heart set on the other character for a while now, but only if Kuroha stays to fit with the interactions between her two characters). This is also a point to make a fresh start. You may scrap your first character if you desire. Just keep in mind that if you do that your character will have missed 35 pages of RPing.)

Ivan had just left the art room to grab some supplies to help sketch out their plans when a voice invaded his head. From the reactions of everyone else around him, everyone heard it too. "I am the Dark Overlord. I have sent the Reapers here, but fear not. Unless you try to escape they will not attack you. They have stopped their progression on the Academy. War has come to this world, and I must make sure you don't interfere. The other Academy is now controlled by the Earth Overlord. Don't think of this as a prison. If you join us, you will be free. If you betray us, however, you will meet a swift and painful end. My allies in this fight, are the elements of Earth, Plant, Water, and Gravity. Those of you that have been marked, you may now reveal yourselves."

Ivan felt a burning sensation in his right arm and knew what it was, but was confused as to why it was burning now. Those of you that have been marked... Those words echoed in his head and he hoped he was wrong. He rushed towards a more populated area and saw both students and teachers pulling their sleeves up to reveal slightly glowing symbols of the elements named by the Dark Lord, including dark, on their arm below their shoulder, just like his. Why was he part of this, and why didn't he know it? He just had to keep it a secret until he knew more information.

(envision the whatever symbols you like, I'm not describing them all)

Adrienne clutched her head from where she was standing and she fell to her knees with a thud.Her scythe dropped to the ground and she placed her hands on the ground,the "Dark Overlord" was making her ears hurt some with the voice in everyone's minds stuff but that wasn't what concerned her right now,what did was his name and the houses he called.She stood up,slowly and shaking,and when she went to grab her scythe her right arm started burning like nothing she felt before but she gritted her teeth and tried to not show her pain.When the sensation went away she lifted up her sleeve to find a black crescent moon that was glowing a black color and that is when she dropped her sleeve,grabbed her scythe which she transformed back into its bracelet form,and she ran out to go find someone from one of the houses that the guy called out.Who can I talk to that is from the Water,Plant,Earth,or Gravity houses because I can't find anyone from my house.

Ivan saw Adrine lift her sleeve long enough to see the mark. She seemed panicked and began to run away. As much as he would rather not tell anyone about his mark, she seemed just as confused as he did. Perhaps they could try to figure this out together.

He darted off after her, feeling a bit bad for leaving Luna behind, and resisted the urge to yell at her to stop. He finally grabbed her arm. "I saw your mark, but you're not like the others. The others seem to already be in on this." He looked around quickly before briefly showing the trident symbol on his arm. "I don't get it either. Do you know why we were marked?"

Once Adrienne had gotten a distance away from all of the other students and teachers she felt someone grab her arm and she panicked more.She struggled some before realizing that it was Ivan who grabbed her.She listened to him talk about his mark and when he showed her she almost had a panic attack.I can't believe something like this is happening,why would the Overlords do something like this?Adrienne turned so that she faced Ivan and she gripped the place where her mark was since it had started to burn again but once it stopped she was shaking violently.She looked up at him and breathed in before speaking."I don't know and I have no one to help me and I'm so scared."She started crying after that sentence and she used her left hand to wipe tears away as they came down her cheeks.

@Shog

Xel clutched his head when he heard the Dark Overlord's voice. "My allies in this fight, are the elements of Earth, Plant, Water, and Gravity. Those of you that have been marked, you may now reveal yourselves." Xel looked up, dropping his hands to the side as he watched the students pull up their sleeves to reveal marks and once again he was sending wide spread confusion. The reapers won't kill us if we don't try to escape. The Dark Overlord's allies are the four elements he mentioned...Then what about those who weren't? What about others like me? Xel quickly escaped from the crowd to the rooftop of the school trying to find someone who wasn't from one of the four elements mentioned trying to figure out what to do.

Luna's head pounded. The Dark Overlord had been in her head, and so she was a little more than freaked out. She was partially relieved that she wasn't marked, but she was very clearly not an ally. What did that mean for her? Would the Overlord come after her and her fellow lumamancers? If there was a war like the Dark Overlord said, what would her mother, who was an umbramancer, do? She left the crowded hallway to find a non-Earth, Plant, Water, or Gravity elementalist.

Maka was freaking out from this, since she had the mark that the Dark Overlord had mention on her arm. 'First, I was late to join the BoC, because I was looking for some gems in a cave, and now this. What on earth is going here, and why is the Overlords doing this to us?' thought Maka. She didn't know what to do, since nobody had talked to her at the academy. Maka was holding on to her hammer nervously, since nobody is going to help her now, so she ended up putting her hammer on her back, and went to hug a random girl, who had the mark in fear.

Jampo laid still and emotionless. Her body was limp and unmoving. A completed flower crown laid next to her hands that were folded together so perfectly. Everything was calm and safe in Po's little world. She had nothing to worry about at thsat moment. Her grades were good and her friends were happy. She could live like this forever.

"Po! Jampo wake up! Hurry!" Po was awaken from her sleep, causing her to bolt upward. Her heart was racing slightly from the sudden outburst but she soon calmed down, laughing slightly as she looked at the fire elementalist. "You've got to get up Po. There's been word that reapers are on campus." Po sat there on moving until she yawned, placing the flower crown on her head. "Oh dont play silly pranks. I know better than to fall for that." She giggled. The other male just huffed, glaring at her before taking off in a sprint, down the hall. Po stood up slightly confused but as she did so she gained a slight headache, joined with a voice. As soon as she heard about his allies she widened her eyes. "Kaia..." She whispered.

Po quickly ran down the hall, soon passing the male who woke her up. She had never run so fast in her life but she was beyond worried. Did this mean her best friend was going to kill her? Po finally exited to the very edge of the castle. Standing outside under the sky she heard screams and voices as people paniced. "Heh... Looks like Jampo the great aeromancer isn't so great anymore." A low growl came from the side of her.

Po turned her head quickly, noticing a floramancer with dark looking vines traveling up her arms. 'Didn't take long for some people to join the dark side.' She thought, taking a step back. Right then a vine shot out at her. She quickly fell to the ground trying to dodge it, her cheek getting slightly cut from the thorn. "S-stop it! Gyahhh! You dont have to do this!" Po tried to reason with the female but got a wicked laugh in return. "Are you kidding me? It's my turn to shine now. I'm tired of people thinking I can't do anything because I'm a floramancer." Once again another vine shot out at Po, wrapping around her ankle. She kicked her leg, trying to set herself free. She was done. Done trying to get killed. With that, Po set Into battle mode. She didn't look very menacing due to her small stature and flower crown, but her glare said it all.

"You've been warned." Po hissed, taking a large breath before letting all the air out. She could clearly hear the girl struggle to stay put with the vines, but it was no much for the tornado strength gust. She finished the breath, watching as the floramancer pumbled across the ground, unable to move very much afterwords. "Dont mess with me." She huffed like a child, sticking her nose in the air. Now all she could do was hope to spot Kaia and talk to her before power overcame her as well.

Kaia had just entered the infirmary, which was empty, and grabbed a roll of bandages off of a cart next to one of the beds when the voice sounded loudly in her head. The bandages fell to the ground and rolled away and she jumped up, eyes wide.

What?

This couldn't possibly be happening. She suddenly got the strange urge to laugh, and for a moment it appeared she'd gone into shock. "-the elements of Earth, Plant, Water, and Gravity." Her skin paled.

This couldn't be happening. This couldn't be happening. Her arm burned as the mark appeared, but she didn't move or blink or do anything. She stood there and stared in front of her blankly. They were going to pit children against each other? Friends? What about Po? What about all of the friends she'd made that weren't on her side of the war? Was she going to be forced to fight them? But why? Why?

Kaia's shock slowly melted away. She was getting angry. Her sprained wrist forgotten, she stomped out of the room to go look for people. Anyone. Perhaps she was looking for someone to yell at, or someone to empathize or join up with, or, or, someone to rebel with. She didn't really know. But she knew this was wrong, and she'd be damned if she was just going to blindly listen to some old dude who was telling her that her and her best friend were now enemies. The gravity in the hallway to the infirmary suddenly lessened greatly, pulling her purple pigtails out to float beside her. It didn't seem to affect her anywhere else, though, as she continued to stomp down the hallway before turning right to head back outside.

Reckless, as always, Kaia growled under her breath. "Screw that."
