Dreams of the Second Age - Additional IC

"One second," Zen replied as he took a closer look at the newly arrived Dragon Kings.

He particulary focused on their tattered clothes and makeshift weapons. Feral Dragon Kings had no use for weapons or mundane clothing rather than armor, as demonstrated by the Pterok above them. Could it be? Zen focused his essence for a split second, observing the patterns of the Raptok's movement and their proficiency in combat combat to determine if there is more than pure bestial instinct driving their movements.

Rolling Perception + War to determine if the Raptok are awakened and non-feral via their combat prowess and tactical thinking. Spending 6m on the second war excellency for 3 auto-sux. 5 successes total.

There is some level of communication going on here, both between the Raptok on the ground and the Pterok in the air. The four on the ground are not using any kind of intelligent tactics, but seem to be working as a bunch of pack hunters. If they are Awakened, is is just barely. Or, perhaps they are not and are getting close to the point where they can Awaken their Essence.

Zen shook his head, "Let us go. I'm not sure how much longer that minion is going to last. Although the Pteroks near the top of the tower is disconcerting. It is nearly impossible for us not to get spotted by them."

"Hmph. Well, if we do have to end up fighting them, please try to keep them intact. This is not a resource we will get a second chance at." Then he chuckles, "Though, I can probably fix them if they are broken, so really just keep them alive if at all possible." he then sets looks over to Aredin, reading the orb for deployment and saying, "Come, comrade, let us synchronize this as much as we can."

"I make no guarantees on keeping them intact, I'm more worried about our own survival. We can't complete our tasks if we're minced meat." Araneus prepares himself for combat as they get ready to head upwards towards the tower.

Taking to the air, you fly up towards the top of the Tower. The small group of flying reptiles let out cries of anger that there is an intruder in their midst and they scatter out of the way of the flying vehicles. At the top of the Tower, you can see several abandoned airships of various sizes and types, some of them have visible damage to them but others appear to be in fine shape. When you touch down on the deck and look around, you can now see that there is a group of Raptok with crude spears standing at the elevator to the lower levels of the structure. They all snarl and raise the weapons in a threatening manner and begin to crouch and stalk forward. They do not look friendly.

What do you do?

As the Pterok begin to screech, Aredin pulls out a small whistle, the piercing echo of his music reaching both above and below, his surge of inspiration now spreading sound and illusionary light within a mile of space around him. Through his manipulation of the air and light waves he would endeavor to play the melody of peaceful chatter and reunions. While allowing his caste mark to flare, he would use both his hearthstones, to communicate with all creatures, even beasts, and his mastery of their ancient language to communicate peaceful intent to speak with them and their gods.

Nikola chuckles, appreciating the audacity of the performance, as well as the potentially nonviolent resolution of this conflict. Though, that does not stop him from drawing his twin Repeaters behind his back, just in case.

The sudden appearance of the apparitions from the Charm make the three Raptok Dragon Kings take a step back as they look from side to side at the images. The one in front looks at the glowing Caste mark on Aredin's head and it turns to one of the others and says in High Holy Speech, "Get L'ron." The second one nods and leaps into the lift behind them and drops out of sight.

Looking back at the Exalts, the Dragon King in front stands its ground and says, "Don't move, meat. L'ron is coming for you." At least it is not attacking, and four of the circling Pteroks stop flying about and land a short distance away from you on either side.

Nikola nods, looking about cautiously for any signs of betrayal, though, he is relatively pleased with what at least appears to be the measured response of the Dragon Kings

'I knew we should have gotten Leeatya's blessing before doing this...' Zen-Aku thought to himself as he awaited the arrival of this 'L'ron'.

Araneus keeps his cloak active and pulled tightly around him, still looking insubstantial but keeping his guard up as his other hand grips his wrackstaff tightly. "Are we certain that was a good idea?"

Shrugs, saying, "Well, if it wasn't, it is not like we are incapable of handling things if they go awry. Besides, as I said, comrade, this is a resource that we will not be getting a second chance at, so preserving them will ultimately work out in our favor."

Aredin shrugs, continuing to play the small clay flute out of boredom until this "L'ron" showed up.

An uneasy stillness fills the air as the Dragon Kings glare at you. Several minutes go by before six more Raptok come up from the lift. One of the reptile men stands out from the others, because he is wearing a lightweight breastplate and is carrying a sword made of Orichalchum. His eyes gleam with intelligence as he looks you over.

In a quiet voice, the Dragon King says in High Holy Speech, "I am L'ron. Who are you, and why do you intrude upon our nest?"

"Ah I am Aredin, the Song that Mends the Soul and chosen of the Sun. I am here to inquire to the state of affairs of Rathess and see if there is something I and my traveling companions could do to get this place, and it's residents, in tip top shape once more." Aredin would speak in his practiced Dragontongue though unashamedly allowing his ancient eastern accent color the tone of his voice.

Zen-Aku took a sharp glance at Aredin, "They can do without the jokes, Aredin." he said in High Holy speech. The last thing they needed to do was to piss off potential allies.

He turned back to L'ron and nodded his head in greetings, "I am Zen-Aku, the Endless Blades of the Sun and Dawn Caste of this circle. I apologize for my friend's... demeanor, he means well. We are a circle of Exalts although we hail from much... Earlier times than this one current era. We originally came here to seek Relza's aid in reclaiming the city from Filial Wisdom. We had no idea that this was your nest, but regardless we were planning to seek your aid as well in the task of reclaiming Rathess after we got Relza to vouch for us." he replied in fluent High Holy Speech.

Aredin takes a moment to blink in shock, then looks to Zen, "Excuse you? You accuse me of foolery while repeating my sentiments? Is this YOUR idea of a joke? If so your humor could use some work my friend, cause you embarrass us with this nonsense." Aredin is still speaking openly in Dragontongue.

One of the other Dragon Kings lets out a sharp hiss when Aredin talks, and L'ron holds out a hand to quiet his companion. "Chosen of the Sun? It has been a long time since one of your kind has come here, and to see Relza." He slowly walks around to the airships you used to get to the top of the Tower. "You flew in these? The knowledge of how to use such devices is long lost to us. But you have come here to reclaim the city, and you wish our aid? Why should I trust you? The Solars have gone mad, destroyed by their own hubris, leaving Creation for hundreds of years and now you are here."

Aredin removes a pair of Plasma Tongue repeaters and a satchel of fire dust from his pocket handing them to the leader of the leader of the survivors, "Where others have found defeat we found new paths. Where they found madness, we found counsel and humility. I bring you the gift of wealth, health, and sincerety, what more would you ask of me?" Aredin spoke handing over his prized flame pistols and some ammo as a show of good faith.

Araneus watches the exchanges back and forth with curiosity, and slight amusement at the quickly failed wit between two of his companions. However, he also does not sense this going too well, and prepares himself just in case, his eyes darting back and forth between all of the dragon kin surrounding them as he uses his foreknowledge of fate to prepare himself should they decide we're lunch.

Spending 6m to activate Prior Warning

L'ron takes one of the offered pistols in his clawed hand and looks it over. After a moment, he looks up. "You offer pretty trinkets. But we have no need for such things." He hands the pistol back. "You wish to help us? What I need is help restoring my brethren to what they were once, long ago. Speak with Leeayta. She has been trying to help my people for many years, to bring back the knowledge of the Elders that still lie below the city. Help her reunite us with our Elders, and I will consider your words to have some weight to them."

Aredin pats Niko on the shoulder, "Looks like your up to bat friend, should be a cakewalk. Same drivers?" Aredin said as he raised the small globe.

Nikola chuckles, saying in Dragontounge, "So I see!" he then looks to L'ron, saying, "If you wish to restore their alacrity, and awaken their minds once more, this is something I can do, and I can do it well. All I need is some time, as well as a semblance of order so as to not be in danger, and I can make them all they once were, and then make them superior to that!"
