Dreams of the Second Age - Additional IC

Pyter looks puzzled, but is smart enough to realize that this is a private joke between the two of you. With a brief expenditure of Essence, a small cherub appears in the air next to him. "Noble Alhat, I have a message for you from a former comrade of yours: You owe me a game of Gateway. 123 wins to 123 losses. Message ends." With that, the spirit nods and vanishes off in a brief flash of light.

"Unless someone else has some easy to answer questions I can find the answer to, I'm going to rest as soon as possible." Araneus points at the spider on his shoulder and stands up from the cushioned seat, stretching. "Yes or no is the best for getting a good answer from Fate."

Zen rubs his hands together, "You have my thanks. I don't suppose our lovely host has a board we can use, does she? Ahlat has over a millenium of extra practice so I will need to make up for lost time. I wasn't kidding about the game record."

He turns to Araneus before he thinks deeply, "Will Lilith of the Lunar Exalted be able to help us? I was on good terms with her, although I'm not sure if she is still alive."

Araneus nods and taps the spider tattoo, "I don't know that she'd be willing, after all the misery she was subjected to, but we can at least find out if she is there for us to talk to." He nods to the tiny glass spider when it crawls up his arm and asks "Is Lilith the Lunar still alive, and if you can find the answer, where is she?"

The response to Araneus comes quickly, "Lilith lives, and is currently in Marisco's Fine Tavern in Nexus."

Pyter shrugs. "Who knows what an Elder Lunar will do? They are a fickle bunch; hardly knowing what they will do from one moment to another. I suppose it would be possible to contact her and try to keep her from either killing someone or fleeing as she fears a trap from the Sidereals. But getting her to cooperate will be a epic struggle."

Zen nods sadly, "I wouldn't blame her. I tried to help her but Desus," Zen spat the name with utter disgust, "that disgusting bigot had too much reputation and support to overrule, even for an Exalt of my stature. It didn't help he had developed disgusting charms that allowed him to bypass censure by the Deliberative and those of his supporters. It made me sick to my gut seeing her suffer without being able to even help. I appealed with the Elders but they refused to lift a fingers, too embroiled with maintaining their own stations."

"The Usurpation happened for a reason, and like I said before I can understand WHY it was done. If Desus's shard came reincarnated to a new Exalt, it would be likely be Lilith's target. I have half a mind to hunt that Exalt myself and show him exactly what Desus did and how she suffered. This is why we need a different Deliberative, rather than the corrupt and blighted one before."

Pyter looks surprised at the level of passion in your voice. "But would that change anything that has happened? Would it make you any better than Desus was, when he was so horrible to her? It is time to undo all of that; not bring it into the present with more hatred and death."

"It would keep the mistakes from repeating itself. I have no intention of harming him, but I won't allow another Desus to come into existence. His new incarnation needs to know about his crimes and why he should never even consider following the same path," Zen exhaled as he visibly stilled his emotions in a heartbeat. It was a rare sight for Zen to allow his emotions to reign over his behavior, but it was easily quelled.

"I apologize for my outburst. The thought of him makes me sick to my stomach."

Aredin mused on their discussion for a moment before adding on to the end, "I think the real issue here is unraveling the pattern." he spent a moment focusing his gaze on his Sidereal companions for a moment, "The Hierophant, Desus, Merela, and the rest of our seniors made enough of a stink to warrant near total annihilation of the Solars. What we should be asking is why. These people were heroes, they helped break the bonds of the gods themselves. We need to find what almost universally led them down the path of corruption and keep that change from happening. Hunting down some poor addled bystander who might have vague, at best, impressions as to what they are and beating the realization of their past life's sins into them is unlikely to produce a productive result when they simply can't understand what happened."

"We can deal with that when it comes to it. First we need to take care of this city." Araneus stands and stretches, not wanting to let his muscles relax too deeply.

"Try to go too big too fast and we'll come smashing down faster than the Bronze did on your elders."

"Perhaps, though there is something to be said for not giving them time to prepare, but since we can't just reconquer the world and solve all our problems, I s'pose sleep will have to suffice for now." Aredin finished with a smirk, then leaned back as he extended his coat into a long fur mantle. He sank into it's warmth and padding and tried to get comfortable before nodding off to sleep.

Morning comes after a quiet night spent enjoying the hospitality of the Lizard Queen. As you rise, Leeayta comes to see you. "I have made the initial contact with Relza and Shining Flower. They are both excited to be a part of any effort to restore the great city of Rathess to its former glory."

What are your plans for the immediate future? Do you go to the suspected sleeping chamber of the sleeping Dragon Kings, or somewhere else?

"I need to go speak with Filial Wisdom, I need to at least try and mend his madness. Either way it turns out, I can meet back up with the rest of the group shortly afterward."

"I don't particularly enjoy the idea of splitting us up, but if he truly is mad, one is better than an entire circle of us showing up on his doorstep. Perhaps the rest of us could at least take a look into the chamber and find out what's there, while we wait for you. It is as good a place as any for you to find us afterwards."

Araneus pulled his scarf over his shoulders, letting it hang loose to the ground as he steps up and speaks.

So we have Aredin going off to meet with Filial Wisdom, while the rest of the Circle goes into the Underways to get to the sleeping Dragon King Elders?

Aredin loads his pockets, sockets his gemstone of spoken language into his orb and prepares to head toward the center pyramid where the Goblin King resides. Most of his weaponry would be concealed within the Elsewhere pockets his amulet creates with the rest hearthstones mounted either in his back or his Infinite Resplendence Amulet. "This orb can move at 150 miles per hour, I will be back momentarily, one way or the other. If you chose to go ahead without me, perhaps Leeayta can help me catch up." Aredin clarified, shortly before moving to depart into the morning sky.

Aredin rises up from the ground in the transport orb and heads for the main Pyramid of the Sun. From your altitude and from past trips to the once glittering jewel of the East, you can see a large plaza, big enough to have thousands of people gather in it to hear and witness ceremonies on the pyramid steps. Instead of the sparkling clean mosaic tiles, the plaza is littered in garbage and debris, but does show signs of having been used recently. There are several hundred people (and I use 'people' as a general term. Some are quite monstrous) gathered in the plaza for only Sol knows what. They see you flying over, and several point and shout. Others run inside the pyramid, presumably to warn the Solar known as Filial Wisdom that you are there.

Where do you land?

Aredin

Aredin speaks to the masses, voice clearly audible to the Goblin King's servants within a mile as streams of golden light began to orbit the translucent orb, "I am Aredin, and I am here to aid your king. Let him know I wish to speak with him." pulling the orb downward, Aredin would move to land toward the entrance to the pyramid.

Activating Heart Compelling Method for 6m and First Performance Excellency for 3m. My Appearance is effectively 10 due to the amulet for the purposes of MDV penalties. Jewel of the Lawgivers authority should also reduce the difficulty of the roll by 2

[dice]5616[/dice]

This Charm supplements a Performance-based roll to rouse emotion in others. It exerts unnatural mental influence on every valid target of this roll. If their MDV is less than the extra successes on the roll, this Charm inspires the desired emotion intensely for a scene. Resisting the influence costs two Willpower.

For this activation, I'm trying to promote the general emotion of respectful awe. So unless their MDV is at a 9, they should have to either pay the will or feel the emotion effect.

At the Pyramid

Several members of the crowd go running into the pyramid, most likely to gather up their master. A few minutes later, and two men and one woman come walking out together. You can tell that they have positions of power from the way the crowd is acting around them. The first man is wearing Jade heavy plate and wearing a daiklave of the same material. The woman is not wearing any armor that you can see, but is wrapped up in all black, even over her face. The only reason you can tell that it is a woman is her figure. She also has no obvious weapons on her, but if she is an Exalt of some kind, that doesn't mean that she isn't a potential threat. The third figure is wearing golden armor of the Solars, and has a grand daiklave strapped across his back.

The one in the orichalcum armor plants his hands on his hips and looks up at you in your transport. In a great voice, he calls out, "I am Filial Wisdom, King of Rathess, and any Exalt that can see the wisdom of aligning themselves with me is one that I am willing to speak with. Please, come down and join me in my throne room. I promise that you will not be harmed in any way unless you initiate hostilities against me and mine."

In Leeayta's Sanctum

Do the rest of you wait for the return of Aredin, or do you go ahead and start to head into the Underways?

Araneus

Araneus does his morning stretches and looks around at the group. "He knows where to find it, perhaps we could at least do some scouting, see what we can find?"

Zen is one of the first of the Circle awake, spending his time meditating until the others awake. His armor and weapons are at the ready and he is prepared to head into the Underways.

Leeayta's Temple

The Lizard Queen tells you, "The smaller chamber that you are looking at is far below the surface, but you won't have to walk the entire way. The subway trams are partially usable in that part of the city, but you may have to fight your way to a tram station. But with Exalts as powerful as you are, there is little in the city that can pose a real threat to you. If you would like, I can help guide you to the hidden chamber, or I can wait here for the return of your friend on his way to meet with the Goblin King. It's your call."

Araneus

"Stay, both to make certain you stay safe and to make sure he knows where to go when he gets back. I can get us there well enough."

Araneus pulls out a small golden compass, and probably makes people wonder where the hell he keeps stuff if it isn't in Elsewhere. "Once we're outside, this will show us the quickest path."

At Leeayta's Temple

Stepping outside, you are greeted by bright rays of light from the sun. The bodies that you left behind in the outer courtyard are all gone, just some blood to mark where they used to be. Pyter frowns at the sight, but says nothing.

There is an entrance to the Underways just a half block away, but in the opposite direction, there is a tram station about the same distance off. From what you have been told by Leeayta, it is likely that the tram station is being used by the forces of the Goblin King. Unless they are Exalts, though, they will stand little chance against you. Which route do you take?
