Fantasy Dragons Reborn

As Grey approached and declined her juice, she oddly didn't make a sound of protest. She instead lifted the glass of crushed apple to her lips and gulps the thing down while it was a big ol' glass of ale....

Ale. Now there was something she could go for...

In her thoughts Grey had gathered ingredients and already started making a stew. Here she towered over his shoulder, possibly getting much to close to his back in her curiosity. He was making something that smelled absolutely amazing!!

She realised, as she clutched her growling tummy, she was famished and even before he had finished or walked away she had clasped the spoon he was using to stir and plopped it into her mouth to eat it!

Of course...hot stew is hot, so almost instantly she gagged and roared, slumping to the ground in the middle of the kitchen, tongue hanging out painfully, and water in her eyes. Yes, water. Not tears. She didn't cry. Ever.

@HuorSpinks
Grey

As Lil sat on the ground in pain Grey gives her a pitiless look and takes the spoon back to resume his cooking. A few moments later the soup is properly done and Grey ladles Lil a bowl, setting it on the table and sitting down to eat himself. As he tucks in he realizes that he's more hungry than he previously thought and soon finishes his bowl, getting up for another.

He has to admit, the soup isn't one of his finer creations but it does taste good and it's edible, which is really what matters in the end. He wonders if he should say something to get a conversation going with Lil. Immediately following this he wonders why he thought about that, talking takes energy after all. This is surely a mysterious problem and Grey doesn't exactly feel like trying to crack it. That said, he decides to at least attempt a proper conversation. God knows how long it's been since he's had one of those. To do this he decides to start by asking something that's been bothering him for a while.

"Lil, why do you wear heavy armor?"

Lilly fanned her tongue while he pinched back the spoon, before ladling her a bowl and himself one. Slowly she brought herself to stand before sitting across the table from him.

She lifted the bowl high, ready to slurp it down in the most unlikely of ways, before her green eyes peered over the bowl to him.. Yeah she had company and wasn't in a Tavern so should do those...manners things.

She placed the bowl down and lifted the spoon in a much more controlled manner. She'd had maybe half of it before Grey went to grab a second bowl, her eyebrow lifted. But he was so...little...even with his shirt rolled up he had no were the overpowering muscles of a real man... and yet he drank, and fought like a warrior. But he wasn't a giant! Her face was so very perplexed.

And then to break her musings, he asked why she wore heavy armour. She placed the spoon down beside the bowl with an expressionless face. Which was odd for her.

"The armour keeps me safe." She said softly. She meant it in more then one way too. "Why do you keep a bow nearby?" It was more a retortical question then a real one, to help him see her point of her view. "It creates distance... same as my armour. Even if people get close, I am safe... " Her eyes drooped then.

Grey

Stupid stupid stupid. Hadn't he learned his lesson by now? He doesn't deserve to care about others because when he does shit like this happens, or worse. Even a conversation's too much. He had heard her story at the tavern and still asked this. How worthless can a person get?

"Sorry for asking that," he says in a voice that's barely audible while pushing away his barely touched second bowl, suddenly not in the mood for food anymore. He unconsciously puts his hand on the tattoo on his left arm, looking down at the table. He should just go sleep. Yes, sleep was good. When he slept he could forget everything. When he slept he didn't have to see them all the time. When he slept he didn't have to remember how he failed them. That's why he slept so much, to forget. To forget all of it. The good and the bad because he couldn't handle it. He couldn't bear to see them happy when he knew he was the reason they'd never smile again. And he couldn't bear the moment he failed them because everything was his fault.

Lilly blinked as he apologized, her face completely perplexed. He even pushed the bowl of food away, in much the same manner as she had with the Ale in the tavern. Why? It was a legit question, he obviously didn't wear armour so she thought to explain it as best as she could.

She half stood up in her chair and leant over the table, pushing the bowl back towards him. "If you got a second bowl then you obviously wanted it... eat up.. " Her voice not even a hint of the bellowing she was known for.

It was then as she was bent over did she spot the tattoo on his arm, grasping at his wrist suddenly and yanking his arm to her face, probably tugging his whole body along with it in her strength. Eyes closing down on it. "What's this then? I've never seen a tattoo like this before... "

Grey

Grey doesn't bother to resist as he's pulled partially out of his chair by Lil in her bid to see his tattoo. He smiles at her question, a small, sad, broken smile that lingers for just a second before vanishing. Seems like that's the only type of smile that's appeared on his face lately. "A broken promise," he replies simply, not trusting himself with any more than that. He didn't exactly like sharing his secrets with the rest of the world After all, they were his burden, meant to be carried alone. It was better for him to just stay asleep. Better for everyone involved.

He gently pulls free from Lil's grip and, in order to try to stop her from wasting her worry on him, he sits back down and starts eating again, mechanically moving his spoon without so much as tasting the soup. He tries to act as he normally does, to just be Grey, the lazy mercenary for hire. Grey, the carefree bastard who takes nothing seriously. Now wouldn't that be nice?

Magnus Cain

Magnus could not believe it when Willow just pick him up in one of her mouths and started carrying him. She could of at least of put him back next to Forest, but no she had to show him how angry she was. He saw no point in trying to defend himself for what he did. Besides he knew well enough that because he knew her secret that he might want to get used to this. He could see from the height he was at that they were on there way towards a village. No doubt she had a reason to go there and whatever it was he would help in any way to keep her happy.

@Salt Lord @Kazehana

Willow the Hydra

After a while of traveling, they were quickly approaching the village. Perfect. She placed Magnus back with Forrest, no longer having time for these shenanigans. Time for her to get real. When she got to the outskirts of the village, she leaned to drop the two off, no wanting them to get in her way. Once they were, she took her foot and delicately place it on top of the nearest building. This pleased her, as did the screams of the locals. Without any regret, she immediately smashed it beneath her foot, satisfied with the snapping and the crunching and everything about the feeling. Now that she started, there was no percent chance of stopping. It was a beautiful day for murder and destruction! The town now starting to panic, she ignored them and stomped on another building, very much enjoying herself.

@Salt Lord @Quinlan63

Forrest the Lovable Bear PersonForrest sighed in relief as he quickly and shakily climbed down Willow's scales, the feel of touching the ground satisfying to a great degree. He even went as far as to fall onto his chest and hug the grass with a warm smile, not noticing Willow was destroying buildings and murdering people when a distant sound of crashing and screaming reached both pairs of his ears. He would roll onto his back and poke his head up immediately, frowning as the dark outline of a hydra stomped mercilessly on houses and humans alike. He looked up at Magnus to ask if he wanted to do anything about it. "Uh, you see what she's doing too, right...? Do you wanna go over there and try to convince her not to do a mass murdering or whatever killing a lot of things is called...?"

@Kazehana @Quinlan63

Magnus Cain

Magnus had to actually think of what to tell Forest. On one hand he was pretty sure that there was nothing they could say to stop her from killing and destroying. On the other.... nope there was nothing that they could do but either watch or join in with her. "Forest buddy I hate to say this but even tough what she is doing is bad I think we should just let her do what she wants. We got to go do what we wanted so it is only fair no matter what it is that she get to do this." Sure Magnus didn't really feel right about it but heck he did want to repay her so might as well start now. What was one village compared to Willow's happiness. Also he kind of didn't want to get stepped on like those villagers.

Willow the Hydra

Willow hardly payed attention to much as she just kept demolishing buildings. Ahh this was just so relaxing for her. And if she expended enough energy, she could probably go back to normal! She just kept on demolishing buildings, some crushed beneath her weight, some knocked over with her tail, and some she just sat on. After about 1/4 of the small village was destroyed, they tried firing arrows at her. But it wasn't like they did anything of significance to her. They bounced off like little pebbles being launched at her, she herself paying them no mind. So she kept right on going, not particularly prone to stopping her rampage in the near future. It was just so much fun! 1/2 way through, she started to slow down, feeling the pull of exhaustion take her. While she was pumped with the enthusiasm to destroy, she couldn't prevent herself from being drained of her spunk.

With a disappointed snort, she stomped off back towards the forest, crunching the leftover rubble under her weight as she went. At this point, she was beginning to wobble, losing the energy to keep her balance. Nevertheless, she dragged her feet into the trees, trying her best not to slow down. She didn't want any of the villagers to follow hastily or see her transform. To them, she would just be some random dragon. About 100 or so feet in, she suddenly shrank down to the size of a large dog, yet still smaller than a human. Now that she was free from her hyper form she was free to change back into her elven form, relieved to have gotten that out of her system. In her haste and lack of awareness in general, she had no idea where Forrest and Magnus were, and frankly, she was too tired to care. So she leaned back against a tree and closed her eyes, taking a well deserved rest.

@Salt Lord @Quinlan63

Forrest the Lovable Bear PersonForrest could only let his head fall back onto the grass as he realized that Magnus was completely right. Willow had saved the both of them more than once, so she deserved to be allowed to destroy a town and kill hundreds. Of course, it didn't sit right with his morals, but what could he do? Calm the dragon down with a soothing voice and grow a garden to show that there were things worth not being killed?

He sat up when he noticed that Willow was sluggishly veering off towards the forest and shrinking down, not knowing what was happening. Were hydra hybrids just unable to hold such large shapes for a while...? Well, that made sense. The bear stood to his feet and stretched before walking in the direction she had lost her form at, motioning for Magnus to follow.

She watched his face while he gave a half smile. It was a smile but it was a sad one. Her eyebrows furrowed down and her body tensed. For whatever reason she wanted to ask more, to ask why, she wanted to rip his arm back and demand an answer.

But then he was eating his soup... Just as she had asked him to. She still frowned in a concerned manner, leaning back in her chair then and continuing to eat her own soup, still watching him with curious eyes.

He was trying to act normal, and even someone as brain dead as her could see him failing miserably. Her voice seemed hitched in her throat. The awkward silence was deafening. The sound of a spoon lifting, a slurp of soup. Suddenly she couldn't take it and threw the spoon across the room, watching it crash into a wall. A wide swing of her arm sent the last of her soup bowl flying the other direction, fists clenched.

"You don't want to tell me, I get it! A broken promise?... Some promises have to be broken! Through no fault of our own! But.. but.. "

Here she stilled, what could she say. He was hurting and she couldn't fix it. Her brute strength couldn't help this situation and it was driving her mad!

"I lied at the Dragon fight... without you Running to get the potion for Alicia we would all be dead... including me... so.. thank you.."

The last part barely above a whisper face focused at the table under her fists.

Magnus followed Forest to find Willow, it didn't really take long to find her. She was lying next to a tree with her eyes closed. He knelled down to check if she was a wake. She seemed to be asleep mostly likely a result of her going on a rampage and using up her energy. "Hey Forest I think she fell asleep we might want to just wait here while she gets some rest." Heck he was talking about her getting rest and he was about to fall over a die from that last spell he used. He laid down and just tried to just gather what little strength he had.

She of course heard them coming, but was too lazy to do anything at the time. When Magnus laid down, she cracked open an eye, mainly just to confirm that he was, in fact, trying to sleep in the middle of a forest. She felt as though she should be too tired to comment, mainly because she had just gone into hyper mode for such a long time. "Well if you boys are done being lazy, we should head out," she stated, stretching from her seated position. Slowly yet surely, she managed to drag herself up into a standing position, trying to get herself ready for more shenanigans.

Grey

Grey watches impassively as Lil shouts at him and throws things about, what was the worth in reacting? He's sen this before and Lil has every right to be angry just as he does not. But then... She thanked him... Why did she... Thank him? His eyes widen slightly in surprise. Why? He doesn't deserve thanks, he brought Alicia down. If he hadn't been there they wouldn't have needed the potions. He he hadn't been there they would have been better off for it. So stop it. Stop thanking him. He doesn't deserve it. He'll never deserve it. He tries to tell her that but his voice isn't working very well at the moment. That's odd. Why isn't it working. It should work right? He looks up to find her looking down at the table. Stop it. Stop looking down. Be happy. You deserve it. You of all people deserve it, with the shit you've been through.

Oh... Now he gets it. This is because of him. He should have known. It's usually because of him. That's good. He can fix it in that case. Who wants someone so broken around? Who wants someone who will only keep dredging up old, buried pain? Someone who can't even hold a single promise? So he should leave. If he leaves she can go back to being happy right? Of course. She'll definitely go back to being happy, won't she? He has to believe that. What else could it be? What else could be the cause besides him? And since that was the case he had no right to stay any longer. He stands up and looks at a Lil, "I'm sorry. I should have realized sooner. Don't worry anymore, I'll leave," he says quietly, the same broken smile on his face as he turns to go down the stairs.

Lilly lifted her gaze as he spoke, then he stood and for a moment she just stared at him with a bewildered look. Realised sooner? Realised what sooner-? And leave, whatever for-!? She had thanked him and now he was apologizing and trying to leave. It didn't make sense! She was thinking and it hurt!

She lept up from her chair, hearing it crash behind her. "You can't go-!" She exclaimed suddenly. And for once in her entire life, she looked scaried. That's not entirely true. She had been scared once... terrified even. And it seemed odd that after all the foe's she faced, all the monsters she had killed... this would be the first time she looked scared since that day.

Grey

Grey stops in his tracks at Lil's outburst. She was calling him back. That wasn't right. Why would she do that. This is for the best, surely she realizes that. He turns to tell her that but is stopped by the look on her face. Why was she scared? With all her armor why was she scared? Why? Why? Why? The question kept echoing endlessly in Grey's head. Why was she scared? What could make Lil, who fought the skeletal dragon with excitement and bravado, so afraid? Surely it couldn't be him leaving right? Why would she want him near her? Doesn't she realize what that means? Don't do this. Don't do this to him. Grey can't handle it. Not again. He's learned his lesson. It's better for both of them... right? Suddenly Grey wasn't as sure as he was a few moments ago. He couldn't stay. He couldn't bear to stay and fail her too. He's already broken enough.

But.

How could he leave if this is what it does to her? How could he leave her in such a state? Isn't that failing her too? The smile has left his face by now, leaving all of the brokenness behind as it went. Not knowing what else to do he speaks up, "This is... for the best... isn't it?" he asks, his voice coming out uncertain and pained.

Lilly was watching Grey's back. And he turns to look at her. She wanted to hide that fear that seemed to be covering her entire features. She didn't even understand why she didn't want him to leave, was she worried he'd pass out like he had in the tavern?

He was so tired earlier...almost collapsed on the couch before he made the food. Did she did not want him to go because she knew he needed rest?

The girl was utterly confused at herself. All she knew was there was a small opening somewhere in her heart, and now like the trickle of a dam, it was starting to crack at an alarming rate. Crack and spill all the fear she had kept hidden for so many years.

Her chest was tightening up and she clasped at it, her eyes watering again. Her breathing fast, too fast, and her vision started to blur. Hyperventaliting now she took a shaky step, before the tall, proud warrior collapsed to a knee. Haunching over herself protectively. Trying to calm herself but she couldn't. She was suddenly petrified and panicking. His last words unheard.

Grey

Grey watched Lil fall to one knee and a wave of worry washed over him, despite the fact that he didn't have that right. But at the moment, he had stopped caring about that. Lil came before that. He may be worthless but if he backs away now he'd be even worse then that.

In this sort of situation Grey only has one thing he knows how to do, sleep. Sleep was his defense mechanism, his way of cutting himself off from the world so that he wouldn't have to deal with his failures and the scars they left. He didn't know if sleeping would help the woman before him but it was all he knew to do. So he steps forwards and lifts Lil in a princess carry, grunting slightly under the weight. Even so, he carries her steadily to the couch and lies her down before sitting on the floor with his back against the side of the couch. He could stay with her until morning at least. Yes, that was it. He'd watch over her until morning so that she might have some peace. Despite being worthless as he was, he was capable of that much. And god knows she could use some peace, a chance to shed the shell she had made around herself, if just for a minute or two. And while she did that, he would watch over her, until the morning came.

Lilith was curled up and the world was swimming with emotions long since past. She vagually felt a sense of anti-gravity, in that she was moving but her feet weren't on the ground. The lady should have been surprised he could even lift her, but she was far to traumatized for that.

She felt her back against the couch and she instantly curled up and rolled to her side to face the backing, her whole body shaking now. Fingers curling against her own biceps. She felt cold... very cold suddenly.

Like a scared little girl, huddled up against the couch. A soft sob escaping and tears flowing where she never thought she possessed them anymore. Down her soft cheeks. Whimpering like a lost little puppy.

Grey

As Grey hears Lil begin to cry he gets up and walks over to the cupboard and pulls out a blanket. He walks back and spreads it over her before sitting back down in the spot he had just vacated.

Maybe it would have been better if they had never met. Maybe Lil wouldn't have cried. Maybe she would have. But they had met, so playing a game of maybes was useless. They had met and Lil was crying over him, the worthless, broken, husk of a person that he was. She could have chosen anyone else for her care and her worry, yet she chose him. He wished that she had saved those tears for something or someone more deserving of them, but she hadn't. And because she hadn't he couldn't leave her yet. Not when she was at her most vulnerable.

"Lil, I promise I'll stay until the morning comes," he says quietly, even as he knows that he of all people has no right to promise anyone anything. Even so, he still makes the promise. He still creates another burden for himself despite how wearying his load already is. Because, he's not the important one, she is. Even if his back bows and breaks he must carry his load, as is his fate. But she's different. She's innocent. She bears the load of another by no fault of her own. So Grey will take it and bear it as best he can in her stead. He will not tarnish this promise. He will not fail her.

She's already suffered more than enough.

Lilly felt the softness of a blanket wash over her and for a moment her tears and sobs stopped. It was a small gesture, he probably only did it because she had been shivering. But there was another purpose to the blanket in her mind.

A secureness, a snugness, similar to how her armor made her feel. Keeping her safe and protected. Covered, a barrier between herself and anything else. Where no one could touch her, and made her feel cold, exposed. Her eyebrows pressed down as her eyelids stayed closed. She took a shaky breath, starting to calm down now, her shivers slowly dissipating.

Then she heard Grey speak. Softly. Something she wasn't used to. People had only ever been aggressive to her, been rough with her physically. So she had adapted by being rough back. But not him. Grey had stayed his distance, his tone always non-threatening. If not half asleep...sleep...she took a yawn then, feeling exhausted. She didn't want to sleep and expose herself to whoever...but...Grey said he would stay. He promised.

She swiveled down, turning on her side to face him. But her eyes still closed. Cheeks still wet but tears stopped for now. Her face free of the harshness she has had up till now. The stern look she had always carried. Her face looked gentle... soothing.. almost surreal.

As the last few seconds of exhaustion claimed her, her hand sneaked out from under the blanket, snaked to find his own. Slipping her fingers between his, simply holding his hand, gently. Gaining comfort from him with nothing but his nearness.

For once allowing someone else to protect her rather then the way around.

Grey

Grey listens as Lil's crying dies down, glad that she's able to find some peace for now at least. Despite being surprised when she reached down and took his hand Grey makes no move to pull away. If he can provide a comfort to her, no matter how small, he would. He had to, to repay the trust she placed in him despite the fact that he wasn't worth it. He had offered to take her load and she had given it to him, he could not falter now. In a way he wished that the morning would never come so he wouldn't have to leave and Lil wouldn't have to shoulder her unjust burden once more. But he had to leave. He would only bring more unneeded pain to her life otherwise. But for now he could stay. Stay and watch over her for the night. He would wait for her to wake up. Let her know that he had been by her side all night, that he hadn't broken his promise and abandoned her. She deserved that much. He knew that doing it this way could make it harder to leave as she might try to stop him but he couldn't do it any other way. She deserved to know that her trust had not been betrayed, that he had stayed true to his word for once at least.

And so Grey held his sleepless vigil, waiting for Lil to wake up and the morning to come.

After faling out of the rp for awhile being sent flying away by the dragon's. Koziak awoken outside of the destroyed town. He held his head as he sat up. Ah god, how long was I out? He groaned as he asked himself. He got up and saw the destroyed town. No no no no no no no no. This can't be happening. God I hope everyone is okay. He runs forward heading towards the town. He wasn't worried about the dragon, because he no longer heard or seen any signs of a dragon being around. Alisa I hope you're okay. He sees that the tavern was in perfect condition, and sighs of relief. He walks in and buys himself a room and a drink. I'm going to sleep now. He drinks the ale completely the plops on his bed, and closes his eyes.

Lilly slept uneasily. Unlike Grey, Lilly would do anything to avoid sleeping. Train with her sword to all hours of the day and night, drink Ale, polish her armor, sharpen her sword. Anything to avoid her dreams were she had no control. That's the thing that terrified her the most, the brave warrior could face any adversity as long as she was the one in control, swinging her sword or bellowing her lungs.

But in dreams, she had no control. She would just relive old memories long since past, the rough hands and her unheard screams. She clenched Grey's hand and with a start she sat bolt upright with sweat pouring down her frame, shaking visibly. Her screams echoing in her own mind, though her lip's were closed in the real world. She sat like this, heaving, collecting her thoughts for the longest time. Eyes gradually going from petrified, to hard, eyebrows narrowing sternly along with it. Creating that shell over herself.

After some time she turned her head, spotting Grey still sitting beside the couch, her green eyes drifting down to her fingers still entwined in his. Her eyes narrowing further in her curiosity.

The man so fond of sleep, had stayed by her couch all night, awake. This confused her to no end, was it not he that was always complaining of being tired? Why would he of all people stay awake just to watch over her? To keep his promise?

As the questions raced, giving her a headache in the process, she though to slip her fingers away from his hand. But... she didn't. Every time she went to she found her fingers only clenching harder, as if to tell her, don't you dare! To hold him there, beside her, to prevent him from leaving if he had the intention.

If he had stayed all night by her side, it would be weird he would suddenly up and leave, right? What would one more day be her mind thought? But her eyes must have seen something in his posture, so her fingers refused to let go.
