Fantasy Dragons Reborn

Lilith Tennant

Lil was thinking again, to much, and her head was starting to pound. As her eyes were still closed she felt his warm hand pressing against her forehead, much like she had done to Alicia perviously as she was passed out at the bar.

She just couldn't seem to fathom way he wasn't like the others, the rough hands always holding her down. Her neck still stung from where Lt Connel had grasped her throat earlier, a bruise still forming.

His face was right there and she even felt his hot breath washing over her face. But she wasn't threatened. She never was threatened around him, he just didn't have that rough aggressive nature she was used to. Even after the first time with Connel, training with the men at the barracks was a hard pat on her shoulder, or tripping up her feet. And she would retaliate by swinging her sword or bellowing very loudly.

Her green eyes drifted very slowly open, resting on his own eyes. Noticing the concern still soaked into his face..What could she say? She didn't know what was going on any more then him...

"Grey..."

She started, voice the softest of whispers. She didn't even know what to say but she wanted to assure him she was Ok. To stop him worrying at least. Maybe she was just tired..

And then spoke again like the words just fell out.

"You make me feel Safe. No one touches me the way you do..." She meant it in a completely innocent way. "I... don't feel scared when you are around... Without my armor... When I take my armor off I feel...cold. Exposed... but I know if you are near, I'm Safe."

She lifted her hands then slowly, slipping her hand's either side of his cheeks, holding his face there while her gaze stayed true to his eyes.

"I.. can never thank you enough....Please stay with me... forever..."

The last word slipping, her own eyes widened almost in fear. Now scared he might pull back, or run away as he had that first night when she had embraced him from behind.

Grey

Grey was snapped out of his thoughts by Lil saying his name. His attention shifting fully to what she's saying confusion begins to dye his face alongside his concern as she speaks about feeling safe around him without her armor. What was she trying to say? Was she simply speaking in some sort of fevered delirium? Then her hands came up to hold his cheeks and his confusion reached a fever pitch only to be blown away by her next words. Stay with her... forever? His eyes grow wide as he struggles to comprehend those oh so simple words. He was not so dense as to not understand the implications of those words but at the same time his mind refuses to accept them. How could she, no, how could anyone have feelings for him? Just look at how flawed, how broken, how unworthy he is. Do you really want that? He can't figure out what to do an simply stays there frozen, eyes wide in shock and his mind racing. What could she possibly see in him? What could make her feel as such? He simply couldn't believe it and yet it had happened. She had said it. She had told him to stay with him forever. He finally manages to get ahold of himself enough to squeeze out a question, "Why... me?"

Lilith Tennant

Lilly watched the confusion on his eyes and over his face, her heart felt like it had frozen then. Her breathing completely stilled. This was worse, so so much worse than what she had envisioned. Why did her voice choose to speak those very words, those exact words to him just now. All she wanted was to tell him she was OK, she wasn't sick at all. Her cheeks were hot and her knees weak, but nothing to that extent.

Maybe she had thought that this whole time, but her brain couldn't come to grips with what her heart was trying to scream at her. He finally spoke and here she almost winced expecting the worse. No, he would not stay. He would leave. She was too scared to face the world on her own anymore, the armour just did not protect her enough. Not anymore. From the moment she begged Grey not to go that night, her heart had cracked and that shell she had always put up had broken completely.

He had been there when she had cried on the couch and held her hand, told her he would stay by her side. And he was there when the Lieutenant had almost taken her again... He was the first one on the scene, the first one to rip him away from her. He was the one who had rushed him once Lil had overpowered him. And it was he who removed him from her existence so he would not hurt her anymore.

Did he not see all that?

"I look strong on the outside, but... inside I am weak. I am scared... You held my hand as I let my guard down that night on the couch... I knew nothing of your own problems... I still don't know! But you helped me regardless..." She was struggling to try and explain what she was feeling, how she saw him. Why him she almost asked herself..?

"I let go for once in my life, and you didn't run away... you stayed by my side...You still haven't left my side... If you leave now I.. I'm worried I'll just break...I... I can't do this alone anymore!" Her voice breaking even as those tears she promised herself she would never cry, where already starting to well in the corner's of her eyes.

And before he could even respond her hands slipped from his cheeks to curl around his neck, tucking him in tight as she buried her face into his neck, trembling to hold the tears back. Nose pressed into his hair once again, feeling it brush her cheek and head soothingly. Her arm strength strong, as if to keep him from pulling away.

Magnus Cain

Magnus was sure what to do about this man who came for Willows aid against Lilith. From what he knew if any of them could help with what he needed Willow was the only one who could do anything. He was not so happy that she would be going off without them. Not that she wasn't capable of protecting herself but she isn't unstoppable. He did not forget how the cultist had tried to steal her away from them. "Go on forest and I will be fine you go on ahead." Just to be safe Magnus was able to quietly draw a symbol on the back of her shoulder that would send a message back to him if something bad happened to Willow.

Grey

Rather than helping him to understand Lil's response simply confused him further. He had stayed with her. He had honored his promise. That was all he had done. It was nothing commendable, it was simply what he had to do. He had made her a promise. He had vowed to carry her unjust burdens for her. That was all. He hadn't done anything to deserve this. He hadn't done anything that would make her feel like this. Yet she did. He simply could not comprehend it. His head was spinning and he still couldn't accept the words coming from her mouth. She says she'll break without him. Why was that? How could he hold her together when he couldn't hold himself together? Couldn't she see? She was stronger than he was. She didn't need him. She was better than he was. She deserved better than him. But why did she want him? Of all people, him. The broken one. The one who shut himself off from the world because the world hurt too much. The weakling. It wasn't right. He had to tell her. He couldn't have her wasting her effort on him. He was already too far gone. So he had to tell her. Make her understand that he wasn't worth it.

Just a few short words. That was all. Just that easy.

Wasn't it?

His mouth still wasn't working very well. It might be the lingering shock. It had to be. Right? Whatever. What he wanted didn't matter here. So he forced his mouth to work again. Forced it to say the words, to try to push her away again. It was for the best. He wasn't going to leave this time. He would just keep his distance. It was for the best. It wasn't his place to be with her. Not in the light at least. He was better suited for the dark. Keeping her safe but nothing more. He could do nothing more.

"Lil... you deserve better than me."

Kazehana said:
Willow the HydraWillow stopped in her tracks, her gaze immediately snapping to the newcomer. She listened intently on what he had to say, donning a serious expression on her face. She knew that this had to be serious by both the way he was acting and the look on his face. Her eyes widened at the description, and she simply whispered, "Lilith."

She looked to the side, a haze over her eyes. But she didn't think it was her place to intervene with that woman. After all, clashing with her would lead to the total destruction of what was left of the city. Her gaze drifted lazily back to the man, and she knew that she had to help, at least in some way. "Forrest, Magnus, let me handle this. I'll... be back soon I suppose," she said, not taking her eyes off of him.

She exhaled deeply while she closed her eyes momentarily. "Alright, let's go," she said in a defeated tone, opening her eyes back up to look at him. She gave him the slightest of reassuring smiles, hoping it might encourage him to keep hope.

Lt. Connel

The Luitenant watched Willow with a bated breath, looking for all the world like he were waiting, begging almost for her to help. In reality he was simply hoping she would part with her group sooner rather than later because he was getting impatient.

She agreed and his face lit up, in his mind not believing his luck that she herself suggested to do so alone..

What was it with women being completely gullible and trustworthy?

Connel kept his fingers entwined with Willow's as he smiled warmly. "I'm so glad you will help! Thank you!" His eyes glancing over to Magnus as he did something to her shoulder, his eyes narrowing down in annoyance, but only for the briefest of seconds.

He would have to deal with that before he dealt with Willow himself...

"Alright, come with me!" Clasping her hand and leading her away with a hurried pace. He twisted and turned through the trees, vaguely towards the town but in a much more gingerly South-East direction.

His pace slowed down then as he peered to her with a warm smile. Now they were alone he had to check this was indeed the Hydra, and he had to remove that mark...

"So... my name is Connor, what is yours? Your friends were convinced you could help... I would have thought that big bear man would have been able to take her! Do.. you have some fancy Elf magic?" Eyes lighting up in a convincing boy excitement, even lifting his tone away from the more baritone tone he usually used when he was commanding.

Willow the Hydra

She nodded to the other two, and just like that, they were on their way. She had no idea what Magnus did to her, but she figured it was harmless if anything. Besides, he wasn't one to do something without reason. With all the twisting and turning, she had fairly lost her sense of direction, and she was pretty much just going along with it at this point.

The man sure was more cheerful and confident now, but perhaps it was just because of Forrest. He did have an imposing presence after all. "Connor? That's a very nice name. Mine is Willow," she said getting the introductions out of the way. His excitement seemed a bit out of place for the moment though, and she had to wonder why they slowed so much. "You could say that. Let's worry about it when we get there," she insisted, her face screwed up in thought.

If Lilith really was terrorizing the city like she probably was, there wasn't time to waste with this, right? Couldn't this conversation happen afterwards? "We should, uh, probably get going. There's no time to spare if it's a big problem," she added, hoping he would understand the gravity of the situation. From her first impression, she thought he did understand, but his motivation for getting to the city seemed to have dwindled quite drastically for a crisis situation.

Lilith Tennant

Lilith clung to Grey tightly, her arms still held strong against his neck, keeping his face and head tight into her own shoulder and neck while she too pressed her face into the crook of his own. He didn't say anything for a long time, and slowly but surely Lil was starting to relax into him, the tenseness of her muscles waning, drawing comfort from the nearness of his body even if he didn't reciprocate. Feeling like he would not pull back, at least not yet. He was the second layer of her body, the shield of her armour. The layer of defence she keenly realised she needed. She could not wear her armour or swing her sword 24/7 but with him near, she wouldn't get hurt again, right?

Then he spoke. And his words echoed dimly in her mind. The heaviness of his heart shining through even had he not meant for it to. Her green eyes slid open slowly then as she looked to the ceiling. For such a brain dead, unobservant warrior such as she, she finally understood why he was reacting as he did.

It wasn't he didn't want to protect her, or want to leave her. But for some reason, something had happened to him that had completely destroyed his self worth. She deserved better then him? She tilted her head more into the side of his face, taking a gentle easing breath as her heart for the first time since she spoke finally calmed down.

"Why don't you think I deserve you?

Was it not
you who sat by the couch all night while I wept?

Was it not
you who was first on the scene when The Lieutenant attacked?

Was it not
you who removed him so he can not hurt me, ever again?" She asked honestly.

"Do you really believe that you are on the same level as that scum Connel? After everything you've heard and seen him do?"

She paused again, trying to think of the best way to continue. To see just how important he was to her.

"I don't know what you did in the past, that you think you are not worth anything... but... That is in the past.

You are worth something now. To me..."

"You are a greater man then you seem to think.... That's why I deserve you... no one else."

She slid her face then, brushing her cheek against his own, till her nose bumped against his nose and her eyes would blink up gently into his eyes. Almost like an animal nuzzling, gaining affection through the simpliest of touches. Her lips brushing with the faintest of touches at the corner of his mouth. If he wished to pull back now... She would not stop him. If he wanted to leave, she would allow him to. She would not hold him prisoner to her against his will. She only hoped he saw just how decent a man he was.

Slowly her arms fell from around his neck, telling him he could move away, if he wanted. But if he wanted to stay, he could do that as well. It was his choice. But she wanted to give him one final thing before whatever he chose; whatever path he did take. One last idea, maybe, to fill his self worth on how much she cared. And without another word or statement she pushed herself up on her elbows and pressed her lips gently to his own, closing her eyes as she did.

Stilling his thoughts even for just a moment.

To feel, rather than constantly think.

Grey

He felt her arms around him relaxing, maybe she had understood what he had said. But then she started speaking and he realized that she hadn't. He couldn't even do something this simple right. It really was pathetic. She reminded him of what he had done but only because she didn't know of what he hadn't done but should have. She told him that she didn't care about the past but that was only because she didn't know it. She told him that he was greater than he thought but that was only because she hadn't heard of his failures. She didn't know of his burdens and how heavy they were, nor did he want her to. They were his alone. And that's why he wanted her to stop with this, no, he needed her to stop because it was getting harder and harder to keep his distance, to not involve himself, to tell himself that what he wanted didn't matter. He felt her releasing him, good, he could regain control of himself again. He could tell her again. He could take some distance again.

And then she kissed him.

His mind, that he had only just regained control of, blanked out once more as he again struggled vainly to comprehend what was going on. All he could think about was how soft her lips were. No, that wasn't right. This shouldn't be happening. And yet it was. He tried to get himself to pull away but instead found that he had subconsciously put his arms around Lil. An intense mental battle began to wage within him. He couldn't help but think isn't this alright? while at the same time hating himself for thinking that. He both never wanted this moment to end and couldn't wait for it to end fast enough. Despite this, he held on, be it by subconscious action or conscious choice, he held on.

Forrest the Lovable Bear PersonForrest sighed and let his ears and shoulders droop as he let Willow and the other guy walk off. Magnus had told him to go, but he was far too afraid that the elf would send him back, and not nicely, either. He shook his head and sat down, scooting a few feet behind him to lean on a nearby tree. "No," he said after closing his eyes, "I think we should just leave her alone. If she doesn't come back before dark or something, which shouldn't be long, then we'll go back and see how she is. In the meantime, I'll be right here, taking a nap. You can never get too much sleep." Forrest's eyes opened and he turned his head to Magnus. "Wait, can you get too much sleep...?"

Lilly couldn't hear a single thing other then her heart beat now thundering in her ears, echoing to the exclusion of all else. She wasn't aware of Grey's internal struggle, between what he wanted and what he thought he deserved. He may have been telling himself to pull away, to distance himself from her, but she was completely oblivious. All she knew was that when she had put her lips to his, he had not pulled away as she half expected him to. And to add even more surprise, he even curled his arms around her as if to hold her to him as she had done earlier. How was she to know his internal struggle when he could not speak? Perhaps that was for the best...

Why wasn't she terrified, she thought to herself? His body was up in her personal space, with his chest shirtless no less, and her without her armour. And yet she didn't mind... if anything rather than feeling keenly embarrassed or scared, she felt the opposite. Warm and safe. His arms like a blanket to tuck her in, soothe her. Was it simply his half hesitation for everything he did? Did that come off as slow and gentle? Non-threatening?

Slowly, she withdrew her face then as her eyelashes gently blinked open once more to peer to his face. Even as her lips finally pulled from his, she found her breathing erratic as her chest continued to hurt. Like she had run a Marathon or after a Huge great battle. Waiting for his response. Her eyes flicking to focus from one eye to the other, reading his face though even now his facial expression remained an enigma.

"You don't have to say a thing.... just... lie with me... please?" Reaching up then to tuck a strand of his hair behind an ear. "Lay with me... and sleep... Think about it tomorrow..."

Here she actually shuffled over a fraction to the other side of the bed as her fingers curled along the blanket edge, peeling it and exposing the warmth of the main bed, invitingly. She even patted the exposed sheets with a soft smile. "You stayed up all night on my vigil, and now it is my turn... so. Rest." Her tone sharpening like there were no other options, friendly but no nonsense. And to make things even more absurd she even gave a half grin. "If you don't do it, I'll just force you to... you know I will."

Maybe that was the key. Maybe it wasn't about trying to explain everything, other wise his mind would cave in on itself like a black hole. Maybe she just had to focus on Action. To give him no opportunity for his self doubt. She smiled knowingly as she gazed to him. If there was one thing Lilith was good at it, it was Action.

Lieutenant Connel

354398_1330301062949_201_251.jpg

The crimson eyed man watched Willow with a raised eyebrow and despite his pushing she didn't respond to his question to her powers. Here he slowed his pace down just a fraction out of time so he was behind her and over her shoulder. Troublesome. He could push further but the tone of her voice already indicated that he was loosing his grip on her confidence, so he had very little time left to try and pry some information out of her. It was here he realised with a raised eyebrow that it didn't even matter if she were the Hydra or not, if he drugged her and took her away and it turned out she was just some regular Elf, he could always use her to serve some other purpose...

His face donned a maniacal grin as he lifted one gloved hand to press against that symbol, in a similar gesture like one might a friend. So there was no reason really for her to get suspicious. His palm grew slightly warm as he attempted to transmute her very skin to remove the pesky symbol... however that silly man had somehow put some sort of protection to prevent him doing so, and all he got was a burning sensation that caused his palm to reef away with a sound similar to disgust from his lips.

That human man was a dead man when he eventually encountered him again.

There was no way to prevent the detection symbol, then, but The Lieutenant figured by the time her friends found out he would have dragged her out of this forest and far away. Half way relieved now, he straightened as he completely dropped the stupid, innocent bystander act, his eyes narrowing down at the back of her head and another sound of distain left his lips.

"You caught me." He said suddenly in his real voice, a deep commanding Baritone tone which would no doubt make her head and body swivel to face him in surprise. Everything about his posture changed, his eyebrows narrowed, his shoulders squared and legs a strong stance. The posture of a Warrior and Man of Statue. "I'm sick of this façade...You're coming with me whether you like it or not, Hydra...."

Here he gave an almost blood chilling grin, one hand ducking into his cloak pocket while the other suddenly snatched at her bicep, reefing her entire frame closer to him. The hand in his cloak suddenly pulling out what appeared to be some sort of cloth though it smelt weird, forcing it rather painfully against her mouth and nose. She might have felt slightly woozy, like her legs ceased to work. Like the world were spinning similar to a vicious roller coaster ride, unable to breath in the sweet smell of fresh oxygen and instead whatever strange compound was on the cloth.

Her last views may have been him standing over her, that same maniacal grin on his face, crimson eyes full of malice.

Willow the Hydra

Her attention was far gone when he started drifting behind, and she had hardly felt him touch her. Her mind was preoccupied with the thought of Lilith on a rampage, killing people for sport. Willow herself wasn't too much better, but at least she focused more on destroying buildings rather than people. This man was quite fast to have been able to find her so fast. How did he find her anyway? They were in the middle of the forest doing random shenanigans.

The only reason she even payed attention was his sudden outburst, causing her to stop and turn herself to look at him with an incredulous expression. Why did he take the time and effort to act like he was helpless? She much preferred to consort with men that were powerful rather than meek. His new stance and his commanding voice earned an eyebrow raise. This was a nice surprise. Perhaps he wouldn't be as annoying to deal with as she's thought.

As he yanked her closer, she simply looked at him with curiosity, not sure herself how to handle the situation. She didn't even attempt to fight back, simply letting it happen. The chemical wasn't pleasant smelling, but she assumed this was her punishment for not seeing through the rouse earlier.

As she lost all of her energy, she slowly fell to the ground, still looking at him with curious eyes. What was he up to? She still pondered about this as she slipped into the chemical induced unconsciousness.

Grey

It was over, the moment was over and Grey still couldn't be sure if that was a tragedy or a cause for celebration. He wasn't really sure of much anymore to be honest. Just a little bit ago Grey would have told you with full conviction that he could never have a relationship with someone, that his desires didn't matter, that no one would want him but now, now he wasn't so sure. Now there was a worm of doubt in those statements. A doubt that Lil had planted within him. Maybe, if an innocent person like her accepted him, than just maybe he was worth something? No. Don't be stupid, you let them die after all didn't you? But... she said she cared about him right? That's just until she realizes your faults, your failures, your burdens. Then she'll see you for what you are and cast you away. And who could blame her? But she said that that was in the past. She said that he was worth something to her. She said that she deserved him. Maybe... just maybe... she was right? Maybe he could finally move on, with her?

Lil interrupts his struggle once more with the request, well command really, that he lie down with her and sleep. For once, Grey doesn't try to argue it, rather he wordlessly takes off his coat and boots before climbing into the bed. He was tired. Tired from staying up too long, tired from fighting Connel, tired from the confusion, tired from his inner struggle, tired from his burdens. Maybe she was right. Maybe he should just forget it all for now and just sleep. As he lie there, beginning to drift off, in that state of half-consciousness in which people reveal what they truly want and fear asks something of her, something he would never ask say otherwise, a request far too selfish for him to even accept contemplating.

Even in this state the twin notes of desperation and hope can be heard in his voice.

"Please don't leave me. I don't want to be alone anymore."

Lil rested up on an elbow as she peered to him, watching him take off his boots and slip into bed. The second his back had touched the sheets, she had flung the blanket over the top of him and tucked him in like some sort of burrito. Nice and snuggly warm. She figured that's how he would like it, because that's how she would like it. Watching his body now struggling to stay awake, she reached a hand forward to softly stroke from his forehead into the threads of his hair. Getting to the back of his skull before lifting her fingers to start again at his forehead.

She watched him with a weird look on her face, something akin to adoration but she wasn't aware why she even looked that way. Sitting up on her elbow and half leaning over him, chest barely brushing his arm, she watched his lips move and soon he spoke.

Her strokes through his hair stilled for a moment as her green eyes focused in on his face. Was this dejavu? She could have sworn she had told him that very statement long ago, it certaintly felt like forever ago with that kiss inbetween. She could still almost feel his arms around her, his warm lips pressed to her own.

"I'll never leave you....I promise." She said honestly. "We can do this... together...Now stop thinking so much..." Here she let her fingers slip from his forehead to brush over his eyelids to close them if they were still open, or keep them shut if they were not. Her fingertips slipped across his cheek and nose, before they gently grasped his chin and tilted his face up a fraction.

She closed the distance with her face, body half leaning over his own as her front pressed more solidly against his side, at least what it could with a thick blanket between them. Her long brown hair cascading to tickle and brush against his face and neck and she once again put her lips to his.

Only this time her kiss was far more then it had been previously, pouring as much of this weird emotion she had only just become acquanted with. That thundering sound of her heart returning, her chest hurting and a swirling in her tummy.

She broke the kiss only for a moment, only long enough to whisper a single word, in a breathless eager tone.

"Grey...."

That was it, just a confirmation of his name, before she kissed him again, as her hand slid to cup his ear and drag his face closer and up to her own.

As he drifted off he heard Lil mention that she would never leave him and a faint smile graced his face in the moment before she kissed him once more. However, this time Grey was still in that odd half-asleep state in which one can be completely honest with themselves and those around them. As such, and unable to fully tell if this was a dream or reality, Grey shed his inhibitions and responded to her affection in kind, his years of loneliness and pain lending a sort of franticness and desperation to the kiss as if it was the last time he would ever get the chance and that he was terrified of that. When she broke the kiss to whisper his name he wrapped his arms around her once more, pulling her to him just as she dragged his face to hers. Raising from his position laying down he embraces her sitting up, eyes closed as he focuses his entire being on the feeling of her in his arms and on the kiss. His right hand slides up from her back to the back of her head, running his fingers through her hair as he presses his lips to hers with a sense of passionate urgency. He had stopped thinking entirely, acting entirely on the desires he had repressed for so long. Despite this he still isn't rough with her, nor does he attempt to grope her or move his hands anywhere but her back or head, simply holding her firmly yet tenderly.

Alicia Red

Alicia sat there silently watching the entire emotional yet adorable scene between Grey and Lilith. Parts of it brought tears to her eyes due to how sad it was. Honestly, at first, Alicia did this out of personal preference of thinking those two should get together. But now? Now she honestly thought those two were perfect for each other and deserved to be together. Not only did they both seem to have terrible and emotional pasts, but they just seemed to fit so well together. Lilith had kissed him a few times, but Grey didn't seem to return it; not entirely. She debated on expending a bit more energy and tipping Grey closer to Lilith, but luckily she didn't seem to have to as he soon kissed Lilith himself. Quiet passionately, in her opinion, at that.

At that point Alicia jumped up and cheered excitedly. "Yesss! Finally! Woohoo!" She shouted. Then her eyes grew wide as she realized she'd made her presence known, also the shouting didn't help her headache much at all. She quickly flew up and clung to the ceiling outside of the door like the creepy creeper she was, still continuing to watch the scene unfold. Namely to see if things got more 'fun', though it was highly unlikely.
