Fandom Dragon Ball: Limitless!

@Kyero Really love this rp and I absolutely hate to say this, but I'm going to have to leave. I'm on a crappy tablet and I'm lucky to even load most pages if it doesn't crash first. Sorry, I can't meet the one post a day thing, and it's near impossible to post at all, but yeah. I'm leaving, sorry.

It's okay. I never asked anyone to post once a day. I just asked to post when you could. But you're free to leave, and I'm sorry you don't have access to a better machine with which to post reliably. Take care, and good luck with your future RP endeavors.

Hey guys, I'm about to throw us into our first major battle so listen up!

I am setting some ground rules for you, so please pay attention...

1) If your character is familiar with either the nervous system or Ki pathways, either technique will have limits and will not make a normally unbeatable enemy fair game for you. For example, Era is familiar with manipulating and disrupting the nervous system, which is similar to Ki disruption but affects the body instead of Ki. Her ability to do this follows the same limits listed below:

  • If your power is substantially less than that your enemy, any attempts at disrupting Ki or the nervous system will end in failure so long as your enemy is on guard and aware of your presence. If the difference is big enough, they will kill you long before you get anywhere near them to execute the technique.
  • If you find an enemy which is substantially more powerful than your character but they are off guard or otherwise unaware of your character's presence, your technique will land and be effective... But the level of effectiveness of your technique will drop the greater the power difference is. For instance, if their power is normally 12,000 and yours is only 500 their power will only drop a few hundred points and you'll still get yourself killed in next to the blink of an eye. If their power is around 1,000 and yours is 300, then the playing field will be roughly even by the time the technique has been executed.
  • So long as your power is roughly within 30% of that of your enemy, your technique will be effective enough to even the playing field or, if used multiple times, make it one sided in your favor. But the larger the gap, the lower the effectiveness and the more perilous the fight will be. When the gap is too large, the technique is useless.

2) If you plan on having your character battle more than one enemy before the Raid is over, then those enemies you face must have power levels either equal to your lower than your character's own. The more even your power levels are against a singular opponent, the longer it takes to defeat them and the higher the toll the fight will take on you. Say for instance your character battles with ten enemies one after another who's power levels are all equivalent to your character's own and your character comes out on top with only a few mild injuries, you will be given a warning as such a course comes dangerously close to God-Modding. If you fight with ten enemies, their power levels better be mostly lower than your character's own. If they're all equal or in some cases greater, then you're definitely God-Modding and will be instantly ejected from the RP.

3) If you plan on having your character face only one enemy who is stronger than your character (and win), then you must make the fight as long as possible and make it believable. Consider the following...

  • If your character takes a punch to the face, and the punch lands on your character's nose, guess what? Your character's nose is now broken and their brain will register that pain before it registers anything else, effectively shattering your character's concentration for a few brief moments which will allow your enemy to land that many more blows against you while you recover. You cannot break your nose and not be momentarily distracted (or greatly distracted). It's just not possible thanks to the nervous system and the way the brain responds to pain.
  • If your character takes a blow to the abdominal region, where did it land? If it landed in the lower abdominal region, then one of two things happened. One, your character flexed their stomach muscles to lessen the effect of the blow. Two, the muscles were relaxed because your character was focusing on doing something else and your character's intestines were just violently pushed against the spinal chord causing tremendous pain and discomfort (as well as a doubling over by instinct and physical reaction).
  • If your character is blasted with Ki, how much Ki was used by your enemy? If your enemy was stronger than you, then you're not coming out of it unscathed no matter what you do unless your enemy was a total incompetent and missed your character entirely. But if your character is hit dead on, then they're taking damage no matter what. The higher the power difference, the more damage will be done.

So those are your ground rules. Within these guidelines and ground rules, you are free to have your characters fight as they please. But remember that I'm a martial artist of nearly 20 years of experience. I've seen it all, and I will know if you're abusing your character's strengths and pushing the limits of God-Modding. If I see that happening, I will call you out on it. If you're wondering how far you can push it and/or worried about maybe overstepping it, then contact me and ask just how far you can go giving me examples of what you want to do in battle and pointing out where you think you might be overdoing it.

You'll get used to the realism of this RP soon enough, but for now I will give guidelines and ground rules like these to help nudge you in the right direction.

Working on a character sheet right now. Can I get a recap on what's happened so far?
Pretty much nothing except the start of a Raid. Our characters interacted for a bit, but otherwise nothing significant has happened.

The Raid has started for our characters though, a Purge mission, and they're getting ready to fight. I'll be posting the fight tomorrow for my characters. But everyone else is expected to carry their own fights unless they specifically collaborate with the other players about getting involved in their battles.

Alright, good to know. Did you see my sheet in character sign-ups?

I just did, and here are a few things for you to work on (some are nit picky, but that's the point):

1) Please find an image that resembles your character's physical appearance, even if it was the biological appearance before the prosthesis happened. The image does not have to be exact, as your "Description" section of the profile is meant to let us know exactly what is different. Also, the "Description" must be at least two paragraphs with 5 sentences minimum in each paragraph. I know it's demanding, but there are questions on Page 1 of this very thread to help you fill it in fully.

2) The Guardian's Tools and Guardian's Sepulchre techniques need a tiny bit of revising.

* The first one, being a the mace or shield or whatever else he can think of in the future, can in fact break on contact with another being's body if their radiated Ki (their aura) is more powerful than the attack itself. Ki clashes like that often end with explosive (even if small scale that don't harm either combatant) results. Also, it won't burn on contact in the case of the enemy being more powerful as well. Their aura protects them from the heat as long as their aura is stronger than your attack. But if they're weaker, then yes it will burn like hell.

* The second one, as his ultimate attack, will be an energy drainer of massive proportions if the attack really does what you describe. Also, just like any attack, for it to be effective it must be at least have been produced during a time when your character's power level at the time of release of the attack was at least as powerful as the enemy, preferably more powerful. An ultimate attack that comes from someone significantly weaker than you is no different than being attacked normally after all.

4) The personality section is long enough, but needs to be two distinct paragraphs for ease of reading. Just count 5 sentences and then hit "return" twice to space them out.

5) Training history needs to be at least two paragraphs with 5 sentences each at minimum. The list of questions which can help you fill out the Personality, Description and Biography sections can also help you with the training history.

However, if you'd like the training history to be merged with his Biography, then please make that a note in the Training History section (such as: "Training merged with Biography") so I know to expect the merger and count it as part of the Bio section. Just make sure that there are plenty of details in the bio to go off of. Just knowing that he was training and fighting when he was young isn't enough. Who was training him? Who were his peers? Names. Ages compared to his own. Locations of training? How long spent training per day? Etc, etc.

6) This one is just for minor details: Saiyans don't have phones or wallets. They have a Scouter for communications, and a special card with microelectronics inside which provide them with access to their Credits and monetary accounts back on their home world wherever they are in the universe. If the card is destroyed, they are cut off from their funds unless they return to their home world and get a new one.

7) The details of your character's arm being literally torn off are a bit too outlandish. Saiyans are naturally prideful and spiteful towards those who defeat them, but they wouldn't resort to that kind of brutality against one another. They'd blast him all over the place, and if that happened to burn the arm so badly it became useless and required amputation later, then that's acceptable. But they're not so barbaric that they'd just rip it off. So make that edit for me and everything will be good.

That's about it.

Take care of these edits for me and let me take another look at it when you're finished and you should be good to go and start posting once I give you the go ahead.

Awesome. You're good to go.
So...what do I do for an intro post? I was thinking that my character was running low on money so he was talked into doing a Planet Raid on the condition that he only fought enemy soldiers. What do you have in mind?

It's really up to you, but if you want in on the Raid you can say your character was part of a Raid Group already as its chief mechanic and maintenance man or something along those lines. Given that this is a Raid, it's very likely that their equipment such as Scouters and even ships from time to time would become damaged and be in need of repairs. Your character sticks mainly to the outskirts away from battle whenever possible, but keeps an eye on everyone to make sure everything is in order when they return.

The choice is yours really. You're free to play as you see fit so long as you stay within my rules and guidelines. If any course of action confuses you or makes you wonder if it's overstepping bounds, just ask me and I'll let you know.

okay seems I wasn't clear enough. before you two attacked the enemy my character came in to help
You were plenty clear. I chose to ignore the interference as I hadn't planned on anyone doing so from the start. My pause in posting was meant for everyone else to set themselves up for their own battles, not join in on mine. That mix up is entirely my fault for not making that clear on my end. But given the scale of the battle your character could have done that for anyone, so feel free to continue from where you left off for another group of NPC's who were in the same position.

If I want your character to intervene on my character's behalf, I will ask you (or someone else) to do so. In this case, I did not want such an interference. This was their fight, and their fight alone for me to control and play out so that's what I did.

If you want to collaborate and involve your character with another player's, the polite and proper thing to do is contact the owner of the characters you want to involve your character with about your intentions. If they agree, you can collaborate on a joint battle or operation. If they do not agree, then you'll have to choose another course of action.

As it stands I was the one in control of both the girls and that NPC enemy, and your interference and direct writing in action for the NPC as a reaction to what your character did borders on Power Playing by writing for the NPC without my permission. That's a no-no. Unless you control the character, your rights as a role-player are limited to preparation for an action, but the result is mine to control.

Had you let get my recent post in before trying to intervene, you'd have known that these beings can sense power levels. Your character's approach would have been well anticipated, and the NPC would have reacted to his attack very differently than what you wrote for him.

So be careful, and as Rule #5 states, be vocal. If you want to involve your character with someone else's, you need to say so. Lack of communication OOC leads to all sorts of problems. Being a role-player means being responsible and respectful towards those who you share the RP world with. If you just write for their characters (even if it's an NPC), that shows a lack of respect and is made even worse when you don't say "I want to have my character interact with yours." Collaboration is a two way street, not one way.

Ill get a post up on the weekend hopefully, it's just been a busy freakin quarter for moi

@Genon, hate to break it to you but your character's time on the Raid just got even more boring. Saiyans don't have recorded music to listen to to pass time. Sorry. No phones. No iPods. No laptops or tablets. Nada. They get jack. So he's stuck basically waiting and sitting unless something happens to throw him into a confrontation which he cannot win (which I'd highly suggest you get to work on soon). He'll never grow more powerful if he's not pushed to the brink.

Good luck!
