Kyero said:
Era was rushed through the medical facility on a gurney to a sterile room with all of the doctors wearing protective and air-tight suits to prevent any spread of natural germs or bacteria. This was going to be a surgical operation, and they couldn't risk any spreading of whatever other germs were on their clothing, armor, skin, or through the very air they breathed.
Zyra, in the meantime, sat outside the room meditating.

Once inside the sterile room Era was prepped by the team of doctors and Raze. She was then propped up onto a surface that was attached to a fully realized 3D projection of her body which could be analyzed in very special ways.

"Strip the armor, clothing, flesh, and musculature." The lead doctor, Solos, ordered.

One layer at a time the corresponding elements were removed. First her armor. Then her clothing. Then her skin. And finally her musculature.

"... Remove the skeleton." Solos ordered.

The skeleton was removed, showing only internal organs and a general outline of where the rest of her body would be.

"Zoom in on the solar plexus region!" Solos ordered.

The projection zoomed in on the center of Era's chest to where her heart, lungs, and a portion of her stomach could be seen.

"All right. Strip the vital organs and enhance the Ki pathways." Solos ordered.

The major organs disappeared and the body was all but empty save for the nervous system and the Ki pathways flowing through her body. The image was somewhat mystifying. The nervous system showed up as a solid orange-red series of lines throughout the body. The Ki pathways were smooth, flowing, and a light blue coloration which followed the nervous system quite closely save for the fact that it held its origin just off center of the chest behind where the heart would be.

"Zoom in on the Core." Solos ordered.

The projection zoomed in on the center of the Ki pathway just behind the heart's location. The pathways thickened to a spherical body of Ki flowing in a near perfect circle leading out to the rest of the Ki pathways which branched out of it.

"Zoom in further! We need to see this foreign body!" He ordered.

The projection zoomed in further until the Core was taking up nearly the entire projection.

"There it is." He said at last.

Within the Core was the faintest green dot of foreign Ki. That was the parasite.

"All right, let's open her up. Flip her onto her back and we'll begin." He said.

The projection remained as it was on the wall, but flipped 180 degrees horizontally to mimic the fact that Era was turned onto her stomach. Over her mouth was a breathing apparatus as well as an IV in her arm to deliver fresh and viable blood as her blood type had been taken just before entering the sterile room.

The doctors carefully removed Era's armor and clothing from her back above where the operation was to take place, but left the rest of it as it was. They then draped a large cloth over her body and opened a hole above where they'd removed her armor. Once this was set, the first doctor swabbed her back with a reddish liquid to numb the flesh and deaden the nervous system temporarily while the operation took place.

(Incoming graphic content)

An incision was made just to the left of the spine approximately 8 inches in length vertically. The flesh was peeled back slowly revealing the musculature of her back and a portion of the spinal chord itself. The flesh was then fastened in place by surgical clamps so the doctors could move more freely.

"Scalpel, please." Soros requested.

Another doctor handed him the requested item and he began carefully cutting the lining of the musculature so that he could pry it to one side and reveal what lay beneath. The pumping heart could be seen, as well as the lungs, ribs, stomach, and portions of the upper region of her kidneys.

The doctor then brought out a specialized microscope attached to a kind of surgical needle. The microscope was capable of zooming in to over 5,000x normal magnification if needed. Such extreme magnification wouldn't be necessary this time. Maybe a few hundred times. But it was capable. Solos then flicked a glass lens over the microscope which revealed Era's Ki pathways to him. Everything but the Ki pathway was dark blue while the pathways themselves were a glowing white.

He focused in on her Ki Core once he found it, and zoomed in until he could just barely see the parasite within. The needle was moved in closer until it came into view within the microscope's outer edge. Solos then zoomed in further until the parasite was a few millimeters in length in his field of vision.

A bead of sweat dropped from his temple inside his suit.

One misstep at this stage would permanently damage Era's Ki pathways and cripple her ability to concentrate Ki throughout her body. She'd never be able to power up as rapidly, gather Ki in her hands as quickly, project Ki as precisely, or even heal properly from injuries as Ki was a necessary component of Saiyan biology as far as their natural recovery speed was concerned.

The doctor carefully moved the needle in closer until it once again appeared on the outer edge of his field of view through the microscope. Then he zoomed in one final time and moved the needle into view.

"Everyone, please remain absolutely silent." He ordered.

He then carefully moved the needle forward once the alignment had been made. The needle penetrated Era's Ki Core, and this was where things got dangerous. If he so much as twitched in his hand the needle would tear her Ki Core apart and then it'd be over. If her Ki Core was damaged beyond a certain extent, the entire Ki pathway would go dead and Era would die on the spot within minutes of the operation's failing.

Slowly, steadily, he manipulated the needle into position above the Ki parasite's location. Once it was set, he ever so gently touched a button on the microscope's controls. A tiny "whisp" was heard, and the green parasite on the projection nearby was gone.

It had been successfully sucked into the needle and into a specialized containment tube on the back, but that was only half the battle. Now Solos had to remove the needle without damaging her Ki Core. Slowly and ever so carefully he retracted the needle making sure that both it and Era's body remained perfectly still. Nanometer by nanometer the needle was retracted until at last, after nearly 30 agonizing seconds it exited her Ki Core.

Not out of the woods yet. The Ki Core had a visible hole in it from where the needle had entered and disrupted its flow. They had to wait until the Core managed to revitalize the flow of Ki. Seconds ticked by, and the hole began to close and fill. And finally it filled completely. Her Ki Core was undamaged and had returned to normal.

An audible sigh of relief was heard throughout the room.

"Everyone, a job well done." Solos said.

The doctors all began to quietly congratulate one another for the successful removal of this parasite. Era's musculature was reset and sealed in place with a natural adhesive, her skin sewn shut, and a large bandage applied to the area as well as a new numbing agent so she wouldn't feel too much when she awoke. Already on the screens nearby her power level was returning to normal now that the parasite wasn't feeding off of it as before.

Everyone was ushered out of the room save for Solos who remained by Era's side to wake her up so that she might be able to fly back to the others with Zyra and Raze.

Meanwhile, Raze was taken aside by one of the other doctors just outside the room.

"That parasite was identified by the computer as Iptus Conrachtum, a deadly strain of Ki consuming bacteria which lives and grows normally on the far side of the galaxy. How your friend contracted it, I don't know. However if it's any kind of possible answer it is most commonly found in the Ghectin species which are a subservient species under the rule of Overlord Inecros. By chance did your group encounter some of them before?"

((As I mentioned to Zuka this species was among those on the first Scout vessel that came to the planet we went to with Korvaiis as our new "home planet" before Inecros destroyed Metahnn and the other worlds. Raze would remember them.))

"Either way, your friend is safe now and should recover without any issues. But I advise that you check the rest of your team for any other signs of parasites. My Lady, there, was able to sense this parasite along with her companion. If they didn't detect it in any of you aside from this one then there's next to zero chance that you or anyone else in your group is infected. But still, a once over would be in order. If anyone does have such a parasite, bring them back here." The doctor advised.

Era then walked out of the room. She was drowsy, but on her feet. Zyra stood up and walked over to her.

"Glad to see you up and about, little one. It's time to return to your friends. Follow me." She said.

Era was too drowsy to even remember that Zyra was an enemy and she followed her order without question. They slowly flew back to the others, whom Elise had remained with the entire time. As Era landed Sil rushed to her side and gently embraced her while Zyra landed in front of Korvaiis.

"Your friend is lucky beyond words, Saiyan Commander. Your group arrived mere minutes before the parasite entered its final phase of life. I overheard the doctors telling the one with the bionic hand that had it been left like that the parasite would have utterly consumed and shut down her Ki Core which would have resulted in her death. As it stands, she will live."

Korvaiis gave a bow of his head.

"You have my thanks for saving her life."

"You are all, as of this moment, officially labeled as prisoners under my authority on this planet. You will all come quietly to the facility where you will be placed under armed guard until such a time as I decide what to do with you. Any attempts to resist will be met with death by the hand of my companion."

She gestured to Elise who's arms were still crossed in front of her chest.

"Do you understand your position?" She asked.

Korvaiis took in a breath, and let it out on a sigh.

"Yes. We understand."

Zyra nodded.

"Good. Then come with us immediately. I am not known for making decisions quickly, so once we get there make yourselves at home." She said.

She and Elise then led them back to the facility where the entire group was placed in a single large room with ten beds, a dining table to hold just as many, and a few extra chairs. That was it. No windows. No doors save for the one Elise was now standing guard outside of. No water. No food. Nothing. An empty room with only a place for each to sleep, sit down, or stand around. The dining table was there as a method of psychological torture reminding them of food when they were being denied it by their captors.

Korvaiis sat on the floor and began to meditate, leaving the others to figure out what to do with themselves as they waited for the floral one to make a decision about their group.

@Genon @Zuka @Anime King Kaleb @Lord Zanicus
Karas was relieved that Era was alright, but he couldn't help but be apprehensive at what Zyra and Elise had planned. They were testing the Saiyans, sure, but now they were imprisoning them. Honestly, Raid Group 02A deserved what it got. He hated this entire moronic plan. There were a million and one flaws in it, from betraying Xol's trust by blowing up a planet, to the fact that it was unlikely that anyone in the group would have the energy to destroy the planet (since they would have to work together to do so) after defeating the planet's defenders. Then there were the ethical problems. Attacking a neutral society? Killing hundreds of innocent people just trying to earn a living? This didn't sound like a 'peaceful' Saiyan race. It sounded even worse than his kind was before Metahnn got blown up!

Karas had sat down on another lower bunk, looking at Korvaiis. "Commander, I didn't tell you this before because I generally trust your judgment. But there are so many flaws and risks in this plan even if the two aliens hadn't been present that I think it would have done more harm than good had it succeeded. For one, this planet is neutral. Its population consists of members of a few dozen species-civilizations, most of which have varying stances on the Saiyans and on Inecros. Killing any one of them could be used as a pretext for their native civilization to declare war on us, which I think we all agree the Saiyans really don't need right now."

Karas would have mentioned the morality of the assault, but with Nei and Kendra so close by, it might cause an incident if he revealed how 'soft' he was. Soft. He hated that word. It was the word that most Saiyans used to shut down any criticism of their actions on the battlefield. The insult implied that if you weren't a reckless brute who mindlessly charged into battle without thinking of the consequences and exercised the utmost cruelty when dealing with innocents, you were somehow less of a person. Utterly disgusting and untrue.

Instead, he continued, "Second, how were we even to destroy the planet anyway? While the insectoid and plant-woman were more powerful than any of us could have reasonably expected, we all knew there would be defenders, and likely powerful ones too. It takes a power level of at least 250,000 to destroy a planet with ki alone, meaning that it would take me, you, and another Raid Group member to blow it up at the very least, and it would take an enormous amount of our energy reserves to pull it off. It's doubtful that after killing the planet's defenders we would have the energy left to do the deed."

"I'm not quite sure if any plan I could come up with would have taken out the two aliens we encountered, but as it stands I think this assault would have been disastrous in any case," Karas finished. His arms were crossed and he waited for a response from the commander.

Era was seated against the wall in a daze.

"Imalrite." She slurred.

Her back was numb and her mind still somewhat hazy. Her mind knew what she was trying to say, but her body was not saying it quite correctly.

"Mybakisnum an myhedhurts. But imalrite." She said, again slurring her words.

Meanwhile, Korvaiis had been leaning against the wall with his eyes closed. Karas's words came through, and as Karas awaited a response Korvaiis' eyes opened.

"... You're right." He said quietly.

Urod, Nei, and Kendra looked at Korvaiis and Karas, quite stunned that the Commander would say something like that.

"On the way here, I let something happen for which I should have known better. I let my fear of the path I put us on dictate my judgement regarding what steps we should take in dealing with him. Part of me still believes in some of our old Saiyan ways, including the idea that large scale sacrifice in the long run is sometimes the best option. But I was wrong. I fully admit that to you all here and now... And I am truly sorry." He said solemnly.

He picked himself up off the wall and gave a heartfelt salute to all the members of his squad, as well as a bow of his head. For the Commander to bow his head to his subordinates was unheard of. No Saiyan in his position with pride to match would allow himself to be caught dead in such a gesture.

He straightened himself.

"Since the battle with the insectoid started, I have been contemplating what steps we can take further from here. I have to admit that I am running out of ideas. I have been trying to think long-term, with the final result being our battle with the Overlord. But to get there almost every course I think of involves sacrifice and needless genocide of his followers at some point or another. Whether this is because of my Saiyan heritage or because deep down I still believe in the brutish ways we used to live by, I do not know. But if any of you have ideas to share, I'm all ears." He said.

EVE & ZARYTTO

Zarytto’s eyes flew open and the first thing that came to mind was Eve's unwelcomed intervention during their fight against the insect. He remembered clearly how she'd barged in on them and pulled him away once everybody else had jumped in. Claiming to have rescued him when he didn’t need saving.

Of course he’d noticed this side of her. The need to save someone. He’d used her in his first battle solely for this reason. She was his tool to ensure he came out alive in that fight. His choice. His decision. But not this time. This fight, and the event with the Commander weren’t part of his plan. He didn’t need her help.

And Zarytto felt that such an event would repeat again down the road if he did nothing about it. So he sat up and looked about himself. Oblivious and not even questioning how he was still alive or who’d brought him there. His heavy steps strided with purpose. His expression, furious and none too friendly. Then again, when have it ever been?

The brows on his forehead deepened as he spotted her. “YOU!!” he called. “I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU!!” walking up right to her face, he reached down to grab at her armour by the collar. “I DON’T NEED YOUR SAVING WHEN I CLEARLY, COULD STILL STAND!!”

---

Eve was so focused on Era, she didn’t notice Zarytto had awoken and was striding towards her, fisting the front of her armour to bring her to her feet before him, her own eyebrows narrowing down dangerously. “STILL STAND!?” She screamed back, completely misinterpreting exactly which situation he was referring to. She thrust her arm out to twist and knock his grip back, breaking his hold, the same hand with pointed finger at his face.

“YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD WITHOUT ME, YOU INSUFFERABLE, BRAIN DEAD IDIOT! YOU RUSH IN WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT AND NO ONE ELSE THINKS TO HELP YOU! NEXT TIME I WILL JUST LET YOU DIE!” Screaming like a banshee, her power level skyrocketing with her rage. Her voice no doubt rocking the room with the sheer volume of it.

-----

“THAT’S BECAUSE THEY KNOW I DON’T NEED SAVING, YOU MEDDLING BUFFOON!!” Zarytto countered. “You and the rest of the fools on board this vessel may have tucked tail between your legs after being mocked by that insect! But I can’t! I wouldn’t allow anyone looking down on our race!” he hissed with an intense glare to her gaze. “AND IF THERE EVER IS A NEXT TIME, GO SAVE SOMEONE ELSE!”

----

Eve was shaking. Her fists were clenched, her shoulders tensed, her fingernails digging into her own palms, making herself bleed. Her teeth were gritted and jaw tensed. With his last sentence, her eyes clenched down in a fury. Even her brows were pushed down.

Something snapped. She was the only person on this vessel that gave half a mind if he lived or died. Well not anymore. She’d make the injuries from his foes seem like mere scratches to what she would do to him…

She lashed out a hand to thread her fingers into his mohawk, fisting it before bringing it down and smashing his face into her knee hard, flooding her leg with Ki to hopefully break his nose in the process.

Whether it broke or not was irrelevant, she had already kept her fist in his hair, her other hand grasped at his armour and suddenly hoisted him up and over her shoulder, sending him flying with the momentum to the nearby wall.

------

When her hand lashed out for his hair and pulled his head down, Zarytto could resist and avoided maximum damage. His thick neck was especially built for it. But the mohawked Saiyan didn’t do anything to prevent it. Her knee connected to his face, right over his nose where a distinct crack could then be heard. He was then brought off balance by her wide hip before being hoisted up and thrown over her shoulder towards the wall.

Zarytto crashed against the wall, probably denting it; but instead of crumbling to the floor then, he floated in that inverted position. Blood was pouring from his nose and the mohawked Saiyan wore a smirk on his face instead of a wince. He extended an arm towards her and blasted a ki right for her midsection, where it’ll probably send her right towards the far wall, breaking the dining table and chairs in her wake. It’d happened so fast that it might have taken most by surprise.

-----

Eve wasn’t thinking clearly, she saw red like a raging bull. She was past the point of actually thinking tactically, her whole body on one mission to inflict as much pain as she could on him. The satisfying sound of her knee connecting with his face made her almost shiver, but what stunned her the most was his face.

A smirk?

She had attacked him in a rage and all he could do was smirk? Daring her to do it again, to mercilessly pound him into the ground. She was focused so much on that smirk with gritted teeth that the blast connected solidly to her mid drift and sent the girl flying into the far wall right beside Karas, crushing the bare dining table and a few chairs in her wake.

She slumped for a moment to the ground, having been winded. Only a moment though, because her rage fueled her to the point a second later she was already blasting off and towards him.

-----

Still inverted, Zarytto was so enraged and fixated on Eve that it almost appeared like they were the only two in the room. Almost. He dashed and turned himself upright as they closed in on each other. He’d a grin on his face, fist drawn back and his gaze gleamed with clear intent. He’ll have to teach her a lesson, right there and then.

------

They reached somewhere in the middle, she caught his fist mid-flight and he blocked her kick to his side with his other elbow, her arm straining with the effort to keep him back. She hissed.

Why did he keep smirking like that? It was driving her mental! “I’M GOING TO KILL YOU AND ALL YOU CAN DO IS GRIN LIKE A PSYCHO!” That was probably half the reason she was as angry as she was. It was infuriating!

-----

“You think death frightens me?” he whispered, leaning close. “I smile in the face of death! And should it be the end of me today, I’ll be sure to bring you along with me or..” his free hand shot out to grab at her jaw, fingers digging into her cheeks, bringing her face closer. “..at least give you hell before I die!” his heated breath washing over her lips as he hissed back.

Korvaiis had been waiting for Karas' reply, but the sudden change of events forced his hand.

He disappeared from view, powering up to maximum, and reappeared between Even and Zarytto. One hand grabbed Eve's throat, the other Zarytto's. He clenched down hard around their jugular with his thumbs, their carotid artery with his index fingers, and their wind pipes with his middle fingers while his ring and pinky fingers clenched down around the muscles of their neck to prevent them from escaping.

This combination of points not only blocked blood flowing to the brain, but blood flowing out of the brain as well as their ability to breathe. Because of the stagnation of blood their heads would instantly begin to swim and their vision would blur preventing them from being able to do anything further. Instinct and reflex would cause them to wildly grab at his hands to make him let go, as any animal would. But it would not stop him.

They were both powerful, but their power levels were already dropping because of the blockage and stagnation of blood and blockage of the air to their brains. A brain which couldn't concentrate on the task at hand could not focus Ki properly, thus dropping their power levels like stones making them too weak to escape or fight back efficiently.

"That's quite enough out of you both." He said calmly.

As their power levels dropped further and they began to pass out, he finally let go so they could catch their breaths.

"I truly don't care what kind of feud you two have against each other. You are part of a team and I will not tolerate this kind of treatment of one another so long as I live as Commander. If I'm dead, you two can fight between yourselves to your heart's content. But unless you have the courage to face and kill me right here and now, you will obey my orders now and stand down." He said.

His voice was calm, but carried all the authority and menace that a Commander of the Saiyan Race was known for. He was not joking around.

Urod was soon to stand by Korvaiis' side, glaring the two of them down.

"I advise you both to heed to the Commander's order."

Urod as well was not in a joking or happy mood. He may not have been as powerful as Korvaiis, but he was just as deadly serious.

Nei and Kendra still were fuming at the Commander but his authority and their history together made it impossible not to support him. It was almost instinctual for them at this point.

"Stand down this instant." Kendra growled.

"Unless you believe you can face us all." Nei added.

Korvaiis out a hand and Urod, Nei, and Kendra were surprised, but obeyed the gesture. They stood down and backed off.

"... Eve. You let something as simple as a few bad choices on Zarytto's part overwhelm your judgement of the situation and cause your anger to take control." He said in a low voice.

He looked to Zarytto.

"... Zarytto. You pretend to smile in the face of death, but all I see is a coward fleeing from his own fear behind a facade of bravery and unshakable bravado. You are not fooling anyone save for yourself in this matter." He said calmly.

He then turned his back on them, a simple but devastating gesture to any Saiyan in a subordinate position.

"You have both disappointed me with this display more than you could ever know." He stated calmly.

Era, seated against the wall nearby, was finally beginning to clear her head after the energy from Eve and Zarytto's brief squabble had struck her senses. Her brain began to shake the cobwebs and focus in on what was happening, and she noticed the stance the Commander had taken with Eve and Zarytto.

Turning his back on them in this manner was akin to saying "You are both useless."

Era slowly stood up with the help of Sil who gave her a supportive arm to lean on.

"Commander... Please don't turn your back." She said, her voice weak and her words still a tiny bit slurred.

"Please, sir... Allow me to... To..." She grabbed her forehead and gave it a light shake.

"Allow me to say something. Please..." She said at last.

Korvaiis had been watching Era from over his shoulder, and then returned his gaze forward to the door which Elise was guarding. He gave Era a nod.

Era turned to Zarytto first.

"You don't need to hide your fear. We're all scared of where we... we... Where we are going. Telling us you laugh in the face of death doesn't impress us or give us confidence in you." She said.

She looked to Eve.

"Eve... You said you wanted to protect everyone. Or... Or at least help to do so. But is fighting with Zarytto and threatening to kill him protecting him?" She asked.

The whole time she spoke her voice was weak and came out as little more than a whisper. But they were spoken with conviction, despite her physical lacking in strength.

"If you two don't learn to at least tolerate one another, one of you is going to die and it will... It will... Probably be the other's fault in the end. Something you say. Something you do. It will kill the other either directly or indirectly... We can't do that... To each other. We're better than that. How can we expect to beat Inecros if we defeat each other first?" She asked.

Era motioned for Sil to put her down slowly, and she helped Era to sit back down on the floor.

"I would like to propose... Commander... That we... We separate them, and prevent them from working alongside each other for a while. I think time apart will ease the tension." She said, concluding her desire to speak as she leaned back against the edge of the bed and closed her eyes.

Korvaiis nodded.

"A wise decision..." He said softly.

He turned back to Eve and Zarytto.

"Henceforth you two are forbidden to come within two meters of one another. Once we leave this prison, you are forbidden from coming within five meters of each other. If there is a meeting, you will stand on opposing corners on the same side of the room so as not to look at one another. Have I made myself clear?" He asked.

Eve wasn't even sure what had happened, she was going toe to toe with Zarytto to the point she was seeing red, her jaw clenched and tensed. She was just about to start charging up her Ki to let out her Avalanche Strike, her forcefield dome to blast him away and then there was pressure on her neck. It was tight, her hands clutching at it as she couldn't breath.

But despite that, her thighs drew in tightly and a weird blush covered her cheeks. She felt weird even if she couldn't breath. She didn't even hear it when Urod and the others spoke, her mind only focused on that intense pressure on her neck. And the weird tingling on her body.

Then Korvaiis let go and she slumped to her knees, curling over and a hand resting protectively around her neck, taking huge breath's inwards to try and get oxygen to her brain. Her head tilted up to peer to Korvaiis and her eyes only widened as he turned his back. His words meant little but his posture.... you may as well have gutted her right then and there... Tears where already whelling in the corners of her eyes.

And then Era spoke. Again her words only barely registered, her shame and guilt and overwhelming saddness making it unable to really absorb what was going on. They where told to seperate.

She looked to Zarytto with shattered eyes, before she couldn't handle even another moment in the spotlight, lifting herself from the floor to run now as far away as she could, to the very corner of the room, tucking herself into a ball with her head in her knees.

She wished she wasn't imprisoned in the same room as them all. Shaking to stop the sobs. But she just couldn't. She was a weak, pathetic excuse of a Saiyan, so her heart felt sobs filled the room as she faced the corner, hair covering her entire frame. Tears soaking her tights.

Weak, and useless. What a model of a Saiyan.

ZARYTTO

The intensity of the heated battle against Eve quickly subsided. Almost as fast as how it'd started. They were both being subdued by none other than the Commander himself. Singlehandedly. Within moments, they were being reminded of their place.

Zarytto coughed and rubbed his neck upon release, gasping for air before he rearranged his cracked nose. While listening to the Saiyan-in-charge's lecture, he wiped the blood from his nose. He flashed an annoyed glare to Korvaiis's own, returning the gaze without blinking. When Urod spoke, he shifted his gaze to him. And when Kendra growled before Nei added their warning, Zarytto smirked and grunted while returning each and every one of their gaze. He turned to study Korvaiis's face when he extended a hand, gesturing for his men to stand down. He listened further and wasn't exactly effected by how the Saiyan had then shown his back towards them.

Era then came forward to voice out a suggestion, but not before giving each of them her own version of a lecture. Somehow, her proposed solution seemed sound to her Commander's ear, thought Zarytto. Thus the command to keep his distance from Eve was given.

Zarytto lowered his head. Then his shoulders and chest began heaving. A low chuckle came from him before he threw his head back and bellowed unto the ceiling. Then he grinned and faced first at the Commander.

You mean the power, right?” he paused. “Because I do have the courage to face you right here and now.. Just not the power to kill you..! Nor do I have the desire to! And even if I wanted to, I doubt you would even DARE come on common ground and equal footing to face me! You would rather use all of your powers and even have me surrounded by your loyal goons to teach me a lesson.. Am I wrong?” he boldly challenged, eyeing Urod, Kendra and Nei as he said the word goons. “But as I said, I have no desire to.. And what was it that you mentioned about me, a coward fleeing from fear hiding behind a brave front?” Zarytto grunted at the oxymoron. “A contradicting statement wouldn't you agree? And from how tough you appeared before us now as oppose to how you'd begged for the enemy to listen to you then; I'd say you spoken through experience! Oh, and I've never aimed to please anyone, let alone to you! So expect more disappointment coming from me as much as I've learnt to expect more from you!

He turned to address Era then, “And don't put me into the same flock as you! If you're scared for your life, that's your problem! Don't go telling the whole universe it's alright to be scared! Tch!” he scowled, looking away for a moment before he muttered, “The gall calling yourself a Saiyan!” He then returned to address Era further, “And don't you worry about us killing the other, at the rate we're going, your beloved Commander would see to it that we'll all die under Inecros's underlings before we get our revenge!

Zarytto then turned around and started walking towards the far wall, hands resting on his waist, “And I've got a better solution for you, oh mighty Commander..” he mocked without even taking a glance over his shoulder, “Henceforth, I'll keep my distance from everyone here! And once out of this prison, I'd go on my own ways and leave you lot be!

It was the only sound solution he could come up with. Since the moment he'd joined the crew, he have been rubbing everyone on board the wrong way. Nobody seemed to understand him. Nor could he understand them. Therefore, in order to avoid further conflict, he'd decided to seek revenge in his own way. Alone by himself if need be. Taking no orders or petty and childish command from anyone but his own.

It seemed like everyone enjoyed barging in on another's affair rather than leave matters be, and settle themselves under its own terms and condition; thought the mohawked Saiyan as he leant against a wall. Failing still to grasp on the Commander's willingness to die than to see their race fight each other. No feeling of obligation as to how Era have helped unlock his Zenkai. Or at how much the Commander himself have invested in training him up to where he now stood. The impudent fool gave no thought on those subjects whatsoever. Before he rested chin to chest and shut his eyes, he glanced at the figure sitting with head tucked between knees in the far corner of the wall, Eve. Tch! At least keeping their distance apart was a more satisfying punishment than having to work together! The notion of being bounded to each other while carrying out a single task as a way to sort their problem out would definitely be the worse kind! Thankfully, none have come up with such a devious plan.

Korvaiis watched and listened to Zarytto's speech, and crossed his arms.

"If you want to remove yourself from this company, then I've no further use for your power nor will I let you enjoy it any further. Era... remove his Zenkai." He said.

The room gasped.

Sil, Urod, Nei, and Kendra all had the same thought in that moment: Is that even possible?!

Era stood up from her seated position and looked to the Commander.

"Commander... If I do that, he'll-"

"He won't be able to power up after battle any further. Yes. If this fool wants power to dominate, then that's exactly what I will take from him... His power."

Korvaiis powered up and disappeared before reappearing behind Zarytto and striking his neck to knock him unconscious.

"That should keep him still long enough to fulfill the task. Now do it." He ordered.

Era walked over to Zarytto, knelt down next to him, and placed her hand on his back. She closed her eyes and steadied her breathing. She focused deep within him until she felt that Ki which had been the birth of the Zenkai. By concentrating on it and flooding his body with her own Ki to better take control, she forced it to collapse in on itself thereby forcing it back into its previously dormant state with Era's Ki acting as a safety lock. And because it was Era's Ki which birthed the Zenkai in the first place, his body did not fight against it.

With the Zenkai in remission, Zarytto would no longer be able to power up after recovery until such a time as Korvaiis gave Era the command to remove her Ki from his body and unlock his Zenkai once more.

She stood up.

"It's done, Commander... But why?" She said softly.

Korvaiis nodded.

"If he's going to abandon us to our fate when he is free of this prison, then he doesn't deserve the power of the Zenkai. I asked you to unlock the Zenkai within us all because we all agreed to see this through and defeat Inecros together. We all hold respect for the Zenkai... He, obviously, does not. He's proven that he is no longer worthy of this power." He said.

Era went back to sit down, closing her eyes once again as Sil, Urod, Nei, and Kendra were all slack jawed.

"C-Commander... You knew this was possible?" Kendra asked.

Korvaiis nodded.

"Of course I did. If something can be released as the Zenkai was, it can also be sealed. It's common sense." He said.

"But how did Era know?" Nei asked.

"I asked her on the way here. I've been curious about it for some time, and she confirmed for me that she is capable of the task a few days ago."

"So she could do that to any of us at any time?" Kendra asked, giving Era an evil glare.

"Relax Kendra. She made it clear she has no desire to do so unless it's by my direct order and for a good cause. Zarytto is becoming unstable and his power is corrupting his judgement. I refuse to let him grow any further without learning some humility and respect for the power he holds. That, and if he wants to pretend to be brave, let's see him face the universe with a once again stagnated power. We'll see how brave he is then." He said.

With that, the conversation ended. Nobody had the will to speak any further from the veteran team. Urod, Nei, and Kendra all went silent and sat on their respective beds while Korvaiis leaned against the wall again. Era fell asleep, and Sil sat beside her to keep an eye on her condition.

What happened when Zarytto woke up was anyone's guess, but everyone knew he wouldn't be too happy about having his Zenkai forced into remission like this.

Karas was considering how to respond to the Commander's words, but was coming up with nothing. Simple as it may seem, it was a rare thing indeed for any Saiyan, let alone a Commander, to admit a wrongdoing so blatantly. Saiyans were on the whole far more likely to beat their critic to death rather than consider their words. The possibility of violent retaliation increased proportionally to both the amount of emotion in the argument (which was expected even among more civilized cultures) and the correctness of the critic's words (which was significantly more irrational). Of course, the possibility of violence was also inversely proportional to the power level difference between the critic and the criticized. Karas liked to call it the "Violent Idiot Formula."

And the Violent Idiot Formula pretty much encapsulated the entire situation between Eve and Zarytto. Well, not completely. Zarytto didn't initiate the fight, but he was certainly an idiot. One with a laughable idea of what courage is. Naturally, the emotion value was high, but the correctness was low. He supposed the emotion was all that mattered in this case. Karas silently watched the entire situation unfold, only able to think about what the guards outside were thinking. Were they laughing? Did they think the Saiyans had gone mad? Were their prejudices being affirmed by Zarytto's tirade?

In the end, Zarytto's Zenkai was forcibly taken away from him. Karas was of two minds on what to think about this turn of events. On the one hand, removing an "ally's" Zenkai, when the Saiyan race was going up against enemies more powerful than anyone had dared to imagine, was the equivalent of a death sentence. While Zarytto could very well be having his judgment corrupted by power like Korvaiis said, it was also possible that he would charge into battle once more, putting his honor before his reason, and die within seconds. And as much as Karas disliked him, it was hard to watch a man willingly plunge into certain death for almost no reason.

On the other hand, Zarytto was also one of the worst Saiyans Karas had ever had the displeasure of sharing his company with. He was arrogant, insolent, brash, self-righteous, wrapped up in his own ideas of honor, inconsiderate of others, quite stupid, and had done nothing of value during his time with Raid Group 02A. All he had done was charge recklessly, get himself nearly killed, and then yell at his savior for daring to save his life. He didn't contribute to the ship, he didn't contribute to strategy or planning, he did nothing but train, eat, and sleep. He didn't even contribute to the battles. He took out, what, one or two grunts last time? Then, he charged recklessly against the insect-woman and almost got killed, again. He never learned from his mistakes, and in his first battle, Eve nearly died trying to save him. He had no sense of gratitude, and no respect for others. So, why not just let him die? If he craved to have his honor satisfied so much, then why not let him have it along with his complimentary grave?

It was then that he noticed Eve, in the corner, crying. One part of him, his traditional Saiyan side, mentally recoiled at the image of a Saiyan warrior in such a miserable state. But his enlightened side sympathized with her plight. He had heard about Saiyan Authority Syndrome (@Anime King Kaleb, I think this fits better than 'commanditis.' Do you? If you don't, I'll change it back.) , and how its sufferers sometimes broke into fits of inconsolable crying after having an authority figure give them anything from mild irritation to thorough disappointment to outright rage. He had seen it firsthand in the PDC.

@Zuka

Thus, he went over to Eve and sat down next to her in the corner, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Listen Eve, we both know Zarytto's an idiot. His words and actions hold no weight. Just remember that. He's a self-important bully who wants everybody to listen to him and accept his moronic way of thinking, and gets upset when things don't go his way. Next time this happens, just ignore him. Don't let his tirades get to you. After all," Karas gave a devious smirk, "On the list of things that hurt a Saiyan's pride, being ignored is pretty high up there." Karas meant that in both a physical and a social sense. Just as last thing a Saiyan wanted to see was his opponent not flinching to his blows, a quick way to piss a Saiyan off was to ignore them.

Eve was curled up. She refused to lift her head or even look in the direction of that arrogant, idiot mo-hawk Saiyan. To be truthful, in the heat of battle she promised herself to inflict more pain on him then any of his foe's; she knew that she had lied. No matter who joined the Raid Group, be it nice and civil or the bane of her existance she would be the one to pick them up and carry them. Ironic it was her who had donated a portion of her energy, had carried his limp body to the prison in the first place.

No one else cared if he lived or died, except her. He didn't even care if he lived or died. She put more value on his life then he did himself. Why was that, she wondered. What had possibly happened to him to cause him to be so wreckless, so coarse and unwilling to do anything but for his own need? Had he really been that alone for so long? To completely lose his sense of sympathy or empathy? Maybe he never had it in the first place.

In her thoughts he challenged the Commander, she tensed but did not spin around. The only semblance she had been listening was a quick glance over her shoulder as Era relocked his Zenkai.

She should have been releaved. But now her mind was heavier then before. Without his Zenkai he would never grow, he would continue to charge in without a thought and Eve would be the one to risk herself to get him out. It would be her because none other would. She turned back to face the wall with a soft, tired sigh. Stay away from him? Yeah right...and Saiyan's jumped over the moon....

It was then she felt a hand on her shoulder, her tears all but stopped though her cheeks remained wet. She turned to look to Karas with a half smile. A broken smile. You could see the guilt still plastered all over her face, like somehow she blamed herself for the whole incident...if she had never attacked in the first place...it didn't occur to her most might have a violent response to being lifted off their feet by the collar. Karas did have a good idea...when did he ever not have one? And though she nodded, she knew it was impossible. She could never truly ignore him.

She wiped her eyes with the back of a hand, voice a soft whisper so only he could hear her. She even leaned to the side and placed her head against his shoulder, needing the closeness to restore at least part of her shame. "Thank you..." Her words only meant for him. Saiyan above knows what the other Saiyan's would think of her weakness.

Hours ticked by largely in silence, but finally the time had come.

The door opened, and Zyra stepped through as Elise closed the door behind her.

"I have come to a decision regarding your stay." She announced.

Korvaiis silently watched her with his arms crossed while the others casually and lazily glanced her way.

"Your ship is hereby confiscated, and your access to it revoked. You will accompany me to the courtyard where we will discuss this plan of yours to defeat Inecros. Upon further analysis and discussion with my partner, we will make a final decision about whether or not to let you leave."

"Does that mean 'leave alive,' or just 'leave?'" Kendra asked.

"It means whether or not to let you leave. Plain and simple. I have decided not to kill any of you this time unless you give me justifiable cause to do so such as attacking any of my subordinates or my partner."

Korvaiis nodded.

"Very well. Please step aside. I request to speak to my group privately for five minutes before joining you in your courtyard."

Zyra contemplated a moment.

"As you wish. But my partner will observe you from a distance, and this is non-negotiable."

Korvaiis nodded, and Zyra stepped aside to let them all exit the room.

However...

As he exited the room Korvaiis cast a glance back at Zarytto, who had been forced to remain behind everyone else. His face, body language, and voice were all as calm as could be as he spoke.

"You are not coming with us as you have disgraced our company and the Saiyan Race with your words and actions. A fighter who charges blindly into battle feigning fearlessness is not a warrior or a Saiyan at all. He's just a pathetic fool. The Saiyan Race has no room for the pathetic, and I will not allow you to shame us or our race any further. I will also not allow Eve to continue throwing herself into harms way on your behalf when you take on more than you are capable of handling. If you want to leave this company then this is your chance. Find a ship, negotiate your departure, and begone from our lives forever. But we shall be the ones to take down Inecros and bring more honor and glory to the Saiyan Race than you could ever dream of in the entirety of your pathetic existence..."

He then turned his back on Zarytto once again.

"Good-bye, Zarytto."
He said calmly.

With that Korvaiis left the room, and Zarytto, behind to rejoin his team.

Once outside Korvaiis walked over to Elise and requested that she detain Zarytto if he tried to fly over to them. She agreed, and he then led the group a short distance away. Elise was watching from nearby but remained outside of earshot as Korvaiis turned to his team.

"Everyone... It's time to make a choice. I intend to explain fully our plans, our Zenkai ability, and our intention to destroy Inecros with our ever increasing power. If you do not agree with this course of action, then speak now. I would hear all of your thoughts on this matter." He said.

Nei and Kendra looked to each other.

"I have had my problems with what you've said and done recently, Commander. But with our right to leave this place in jeopardy, I believe honesty is our best course." Kendra said, though begrudgingly.

"I agree." Nei added.

Urod simply nodded, affirming his agreement.

"I believe it the best course as well. If these two don't wish to kill us and are truly not blind pawns of Inecros, perhaps telling them everything is best."

"I concur. At this stage there's no point lying to them." Sil added.

Since Karas had approached her with his words of wisdom, and she had thanked him, the Saiyan girl turned back to the wall with a dull look. Her shoulders heaved, her back was curled, everything about her posture told the others she was defeated. Not physically, her bout with Zarytto left her with little injury, but mentally...

Eve was a shell of what she had been previously. Like whatever fire or light she had retained since she joined them, the passion...like it was just gone. The two women entered the room but Eve barely even blinked. Her expression vacant. Eventually she lifted her body from the curled position in the corner. Turning her body to face them but her head was downcast. Eyes sunk to the floor.

This, the same girl who had held her head high, with a cheery laughter as she had observed Karas while he built the Reguvination Chamber. The same girl who had sat alongside Raze to ask all the fancy words in his medical textbooks, though she still had no clue what they meant, and she smiled regardless.

This girl, who had the same hair and eyes of the old Eve, was a body and nothing more now. It was actually frightening just how life less her eyes had become. She gave one last, blank look to Zarytto as they left before she fell into line with the others. They gathered in a group to discuss some matters and Eve wedged herself in her usual spot between Raze and Karas, only her body was half turned as she held onto one shoulder.

She barely acknowledged they were there. She refused to look anywhere but the ground and she looked a few inches shorter just by how much meeker she looked. When asked her opinion, she didn't even use her voice, she just shrugged with indifference.

There seemed to be alarms bells coming from how vacant she was if anyone bothered to notice.

@Kyero (Sorry I've been gone for so long. I went on a over night school trip without access to the Internet DX)

@Genon (We'll just use both. Saiyan Authoritive Syndrome being the version of commanditis that last for a life time. AKA Stage Two commanditis. xD )

Raze watched as Korvaiis grabbed both Eve and Zarryto by the neck, squeezing a little. As he dropped them he reprimanded them, watching as first Urod, Kendra and Nei backed up the Commander. Then the commander did something that any subordinate would be devastated by ( As if they just finished fighting a a deep voice rumbled, "Finish Him!"). Korvaiis turned around refusing to acknowledge the two. Raze felt bad for Eve knowing her diagnosis, meaning that she must've taken very hard. He started to go comfort her as she went into the corner, but stopped as Zarytto started ... Laughing?

He watched in utter shock as the complete idiot started giving the most idiotic, out of reality, and contradicting speech he has ever heard in his life, given what all has happened. This raid group is the only reason he's alive and all he's done is be rude, disrespectful, and overall useless. He acts as if he could best anyone in the universe despite always being the first one down. He then reprimands Eve for saving his life, knowing that on multiple occasions he would have died. He acts first and then thinks second ... Scratch that. He acts first and thinks NEVER. Everyone in this room has experienced the idiocy of the young Saiyan but being not much older but much MUCH wiser, they haven't broken his spine yet or incinerated him into nothingness. He's destroyed things that Karas and Raze spent time and effort on improving and demanding that he be treated as a king, although his behavior is more of that of a toddler. Raze thinks he would've enjoyed Rakton (speaking of which, where is he @Kyero @Genon ) before being punished by Korvaiis more then this insolent prick. Yet here he stands actually having the gall to insult Korvaiis and everyone else who have done nothing but accept him into their family-like group.

Raze felt the urge to incinerate and decimate Zarryto right then and there but Korvaiis decided to punish the Saiyan by taking what he loves the most : his unlimited power. Korvaiis knocked him out and Era proceeded to lock his Zenkai, making Raze smirk. When the plantlike lady came into the room and told them they didn't have their ship any morn and tharpt they have to go to give up their plans Raze didn't have any better ideas so he just agreed with Korvaii.

Before leaving the room, with Zaryyto in it, Raze turned towards Zarryto and said, " You are not and never will be a Saiyan as no Saiyan is as foolish and stupid as you. It's no wonder that your old raid group abandoned you."

With that he walked behind the rest of the raid group. He patted Eve on the shiulder and gave her a big smile, just in case she needed it. But watching her, he frowned as he noticed how ... Different she was. She lost some of her height and looked to be a vacant lot.

"Eve, are you alright", obviously testing her. Raze's heightened sight gives him a photographic memory, so he can tell if she's acting differently.

ZARYTTO

As soon as Korvaiis gave the order for Era to remove his Zenkai, the whole room seemed to gasp. Zarytto however, showed no indication of surprise whatsoever. In fact, he'd expected something to such an extend. With his eyes still shut and chin still resting over his chest, he pushed himself away from the wall, sensing the Commander's approach and seemingly appeared to be offering his neck for the Saiyan to knock him out.

I was partially right.. You really don't DARE to face me on equal ground. You'd rather use your full power to subdue me... I was wrong to think you'd stoop low and have me surrounded by your goons.. Instead, you took the cheapest method..

Thought the mohawked Saiyan as he swam in the sea of unconsciousness. Hours went by and when he woke up, Zarytto rubbed on the throbbing ache behind his neck. He sat up against the far wall of the prison. Away from the company of others, he began contemplating. Not long after, their enemy returned, bearing terms.

Tch! Saiyan's negotiating terms with the enemy for their lives?! Requesting peace over war?! Ancestors above, what have our race come to?

Zarytto rose to his feet and folded his arms. Standing far behind the group. His mind attempting to conjure his next step of action. There was nothing he could do. When Korvaiis approached him, Zarytto's gaze held his. In silence he listened. But in his thoughts, its voice clamoured with defiance.

Disgraced the company and the Saiyan race with my words and actions? Which word? Which action? And as if the rest of the group charging in wasn't just as blind? Pathetic fool? Look who's talking! You're the one nodding and pleading to the enemy with tail so far up between your legs! Shame our race? Me? Did you receive a major head trauma on one of your raids? Which race are you confusing yourself with? Good, I've been trying to tell her to do the same all day! Yes, this is my chance indeed! I told you that! Or haven't you been paying attention to what I've said? Can't blame you though, you might be too busy licking your wounded pride and ego to actually hear what everyone around you are saying! I'll be long gone if you would stop blabbering nonsense already! Take down Inecros? Sure, if you say so! Bring more honour and glory to our race? Ancestors above! I don't even know which race you've swapped yourself with. The thought of its take on honour and glory escapes me!

When Korvaiis was finally done addressing him and had bid him farewell, Zarytto turned his head and looked away from the Saiyan's retreating back. Silent still. He didn't even appear to have heard what Raze have said. If Korvaiis thought that by locking his Zenkai, Zarytto would change his ways or even faked submission in order to get back into the team, the Commander was wrong. Especially after accusing him of being a coward and hiding behind a brave facade, that he'd fooled nobody but himself. Instead, he'd given the mohawked Saiyan no reason whatsoever to stay. Uncorrupted by power like Korvaiis had assumed. It's just the way he is. Perhaps his demeanour was a little too intimidating for the party. Especially perhaps to the Commander in particular. So he would leave with what power he'd gained and the bitter taste of a bad experience.

Odd though, he thought as he glanced over to the group for probably the last time, the only Saiyan he would miss there was perhaps the very same one who'd annoyed him the most; Eve Zefara.

Back with Korvaiis and the group, everyone was more or less in agreement with the Commander's choice, so he left the group alone to find Zyra and discuss with her the information she requested.

Meanwhile, Era began leaving the group. She walked a short distance away before floating into the air in a daze.

She had recovered from her surgery ordeal, but still she was light headed and not clear of mind like she usually was. She should be. The drugs had worn off and her body was recovered but... She couldn't clear her head. She felt a little fresh air would be good for her, but as she floated a bit higher Elise suddenly appeared before her.

"You venture too far, little one. Stay where I can see you, or face the consequences." She ordered.

Era was able to understand her, but following the command was a bit harder. She had to think about descending from flight, something that hadn't bothered her since she had learned how to do so when she was a child. As she floated down she stumbled and fell to her knees, causing Elise a brief instant of concern.

"What ails you, little one?" She asked.

Era shook her head.

"My head won't clear. The drugs wore off and my body has recovered from surgery... I should be clear of mind but-"

Elise had powered down immensely in this moment, but kicked Era upside the head sending her flying across the ground towards her companions who had to jump out of her way as she slammed into a boulder burying her under a heap of rubble. Elise flew over to the group and landed, powering up once more just in case any of them thought to try anything, and stood before the heap with her arms crossed.

"If that didn't wake you up, I don't know what will." She said aloud, hoping Era would hear her beneath the rocks.

Urod, Nei, and Kendra were all ready to fight, but were holding themselves back from doing so. It was useless. With Elise at her current power level, there was nothing they could do. Sil floated over to the rubble to see if Era was okay, but felt for her energy and found that it was largely unchanged which was a relief. Era pulled herself out of the rocks a few moments later, but didn't seem to have shaken off the mud in her brain despite Elise's effort to 'help.'

She stumbled back over to the group where Sil helped support her.

"Hmph. Whatever ails you, lille one, you'd best shake it off soon. That kick should have awoken you from whatever stupor you're in." She said.

Era frowned.

"I don't think it's that simple..." She said, holding her stomach.

"I believe that wretched time of my cycle is about to begin." She said as she shook her head.

Sil blushed a bit, and Elise cleared her throat as she turned halfway to the side.

"Well... Then that is your issue to deal with." She said.

Elise flew back to her post, keeping an eye on the Saiyans who remained outside.

The conversation had ended, the party had split once more. Korvaiis had gone and Era had started to move away. Eve barely even recognised the group meeting had concluded till she felt a warm hand on her shoulder. Here her gaze slowly lifted from the ground, almost unbareably so, staring back at Raze then.

He asked if she was alright and it seemed to go in one ear and out the other. She was blinking but it was like no one was home. At this rate she could barely function in a social sense, it begged the question just if she would function in a fight at all. Would she just stand there blankly staring? Not caring if she got hit or killed?

It was then Era was send crashing towards them, wizzing past her so close Eve's hair fluttered before resting against her shoulder once more. And as if to prove the point Eve didn't even flinch. Her gaze still half focused on Raze. Like she didn't even notice the girl flying past her.

Then her gaze dropped to the floor once more.

Raze frowned.

This was not like Eve at all. The didn't respond and just looked back at Zarrytto then back at Eve.

Is it really possible that she Raze thought. Then he dismissed the thought. He had other things to worry about, such as what they were doing next an where they would live without their ship and what happened to everyone else on the ship.

Korvaiis and Zyra returned a short time later, and he was rather upset to find Elise had kicked Era in such a fashion but otherwise did nothing to aggravate the matter.

"Everyone, our host, Zyra, has heard our story and has decided to join the cause as neither she nor anyone on this planet harbor any love or loyalty to Inecros despite his threats to destroy them if they betray him. However, neither she nor her partner, Elise here, will actually be joining us on our vessel as we continue our course to destroy Inecros' supply line. They will take their own vessel and take care of other matters which they know will assist us in our efforts. At this time we've taken a few major steps forward, and we are definitely on the right track. But there's yet more work to be done, and Zyra has informed me of a few key factors at play which will aid us in our time ahead."

He turned to Karas.

"Karas, I believe if Tragedy and Comedy are to continue being of use to us they must be upgraded as much as possible. Zyra has sent information regarding what resources are on this planet to our ship's main computer, and I will send the information to your Scouter once we return to the ship and have given the information a thorough read through myself." He said.

He looked to everyone.

"We are advised to remain on this planet tonight, and by my order the ship is not going anywhere. I would advise everyone return to the ship and get some rest. We've all been through a lot today, and having fractured our group with the exile of Zarytto hasn't helped the matter."

His eyes trailed to Eve.

"If anyone is feeling particularly upset by today's developments, they're free to bring their concerns and complaints to me directly or to Sub-Commander Urod."

He then looked back to the whole group.

"If you feel you require some time in the Rejuvenation Chamber to clear your mind and relax your body, then do so. Otherwise, you are free to roam about to your heart's content within the boundaries of this facility and so long as you don't cause trouble if you wish. But I advise resting as much as possible. Come tomorrow we will be leaving this planet to return to our primary mission. That is all. Dismissed."
He said.

Nei, Kendura, Urod, Sil, and Era saluted the Commander and all walked off in different directions. Nei wandered off towards the edge of the facility to sit down on a storage box. Kendra walked over to the ship and sat down against it to rest her eyes. Urod went inside the ship and began sifting through the ship's computer to see what information it had for Karas so he could prepare to send it upon Korvaiis' order. Era and Sil walked off to the edge of the clearing they had their meeting. Era laid down in the grass as her head was just beginning to clear, and Sil wouldn't leave her alone until she was sure she was all right. Sil sat beside Era as she lay there resting, keeping her eyes on the ship, the facility, and on everyone else who wandered about.

What everyone chose to do now was up to them until tomorrow when they would depart.

@Genon @Zuka @Lord Zanicus @Anime King Kaleb

Eve barely lifted her sky blue eyes as Korvaiis detailed the plans of what they would all be doing. Eve said nothing because there was nothing further she could say. It hit home just how little use she was to the Raid Group.. Raze had his medical expertise, Karas was the engineer... They both complained that Zarytto did nothing, and yet Eve did just a little! If anything she only seemed to get in their way or delay them further on there projects, while Zarytto kept his distance...

The girl took another long sigh, though as Korvaiis's eyes drifted to her, almost like he was directing the information at her while addressing them all, she took a meek side glance, hand lifting to rub her arm gently in her nervousness.

As much as she didn't want it to, today's events did rock her. The fight while uncalled for was easily forgotten, even the reprimand from the Commander would be overcome in a day or two...but with Zarytto's Zenkai locked, she knew he would not stay. Not with them all. And this seemed to be the biggest reason for her overwhelming depression. She should be happy he was out of their hair, hell no one else seemed to care but...

Her heart hurt. A lot.

She realised despite everything, how Zarytto and her seemed to do nothing but bicker, they had actually not said more then a few heated words at each other since he joined.

She needed to talk to him, before he left, to answer some questions that were plaguing her mind. And she could only do that with the Commander's approval. The last thing she wanted was to go behind his back; not after he was already disappointed in her.

Once the group scattered, some returning to the vessel, some training, Eve held still for a moment before she suddenly jogged forward, dashing up behind the Commander and in a strangely sudden gesture, and probably completely out of her position, she grasped at his arm to gain his attention.

"Commander..." She started, but stopped, trying to work the courage to speak. Her eyes lowered to his boots in shame, like a child still upset from being reprimanded recently. "A...moment of your time...please..." voice drifting to a mini whisper.

@Kyero @Anime King Kaleb @Lord Zanicus @Genon

Korvaiis had just begun to tell everyone to go about their business and was preparing for his own when he felt a small tug on his arm. He turned and saw that Eve had approached him, quiet as ever, almost as if she was expecting him to lash out at her or something.

"If you have something you wish to say, then speak up Eve. I didn't bring you along on this journey so you could keep your thoughts to yourself, you know. That's part of being a member of this group: speaking your mind is a must." He said in a calm but firm tone.

ZARYTTO

The mohawk-ed Saiyan had his head turned away from the group. Uninterested and not one bit curious of what was taking place. He remained staring at a distance in deep thoughts with arms folded. Not even the little commotion with Era could bring his attention to them. It's now down to a waiting game once again. Wait for the results. Wait to be dismissed. And probably wait to be killed.

So when he noticed a mass of movements from the team as each and everyone of them was being dismissed, Zarytto grunted, unfolded his arms and dashed himself away from the group. He flew as if towards the horizon, stopping mid flight occasionally to get his bearing. It didn't take him long to find the battleground from where they'd first encounter the two female aliens.

He searched the ground for quite some time before landing and picking it up. Dusting away dirt before he placed the gadget on his ear; the Scouter he'd dropped before the fight. Then he flew off again to a different location. Finding one he could use as a temporary stay, he sat down on a boulder and began searching for one particular frequency. Briefly, he paused over the “teleport to vessel” prompt. If only he knew how to pilot such a big ship, he'd probably get himself on board and go about his own way. Then again, knowing Korvaiis, he'd probably have Zarytto shot down by those aliens and left for dead in space to join the rest of the Saiyan on Metahnn in the afterlife.

“Dandel! It's me! Do you read!” he called over the Scouter. “Dandel!” he repeated.

“Identify yourself, soldier!”

“It's me, old man!”

“Zarytto? Boy, we thought you're dead! We lost your...”

“Save it, old man! I don't want to hear it! Listen, can you lock in on my location now?”

“Haven't changed one bit, have you? Making any friends, lately?”

“Tch! Can you or can't you?”

“Boy, how'd you get your hand on that model? Yes, I got it!”

“Then send someone here to get me!”

“Zarytto, you... haven't heard? Metahnn is...”

“I know what's come of it, old man! Just do it already!”

“Hahahaha! Sure, my Lordship! Hahaha!”

“Tch!”

“Relax, boy! No need to get so serious!”

“How long?”

“Two days! One and a half, tops!” the Commander paused. “And am I reading this right? 50,000? How'd you get it up so high?”

“It's a long story! I'll tell you about it some other time!”

“You better, boy! Now, sit tight and ready some food for us when we arrive!”

“Tch!”

The private conversation ended and Zarytto lowered his head with a sigh. Then he slumped down the side of the boulder and leaned back against it, staring up to the sky. Zarytto then dropped his power level a lot further, mimicking those of the planet's wildlife. Not long, he was gone. He'd even deactivated the Scouter and had walked on foot as well as swam away from his last known position.

Eve took a huge breath in to try and steel herself, but even as she tried she felt herself shaking. Her arm dropped from his. It took her quite some time to even figure out what she needed from him, and even longer to find the courage to say it.

"Zarytto he..." She stopped, frowning more at herself, taking another deep sigh before she slowly lifted to gaze to stare at her Commander.

"I need to speak with Zarytto....with...your permission..."

She was shaking and she didn't know why, but she had a sense of dread and it showed on her face. "Please Commander...."

And finally it let slip....her facial expression...she looked distraunt. Her chest hurt and she wrapped her arms around herself. "Please..." whispering softly.

Korvaiis held an authoritative but silent gaze as she spoke, listening to each word as short as the request was.

"I don't know what you hope to accomplish with that one, Eve. But if you really must speak with him then be on your way. However..." He said, as he turned his eyes off to the last place he had sensed Zarytto's presence.

"He's hiding his power level. I doubt even Era could sense him now. Finding him won't be easy." He said calmly.

He turned his gaze back upon Eve.

"Be on your way, and be back by morning. That is all." He said.

@Zuka

Eve silently had to agree to her Commander. She herself wasn't even sure what simply talking to Zarytto would accomplish, maybe it would do nothing, but she needed to try! Her gaze turned along with Korvaiis as they looked to his last known location and her resolve dwindled.

She was afraid of this, of him hiding and then leaving for good. He held no ties to the Raid Group so why would he stay? The Commander gave her the all clear though she had to blink innocently when he said to be back by morning. Talking wouldn't take that long, surely? Then again it may take that long simply to find him...

She nodded. "Thank you Commander." Here her back straightened to attention, her feet snapped together and she gave him a formal salute.

Then not a second later she had blasted off. Towards the last known area they had sensed him, towards the battlefield. She flew in much the same fashion, blue eyes scanning the dusty area, looking for anything, any sign at all. But she was no tracker and if someone did not want to be found then it would be nigh impossible to find them...

As Eve was floating in mid air, it only just caught up with her how exhausted she was, how much of her Ki she had drained with both the two alien ladies and her rage filled bout with Zarytto. Her eyes were already slipping halfway in her exhaustion. Maybe she should just give up, go for a round in the Reguvination Chamber and try again tomorrow...

As appealing as the idea was, she was too stubborn for that. The longer she waited the further he would go. She was simply flying aimlessly now, eyes scanning the wilderness for anything really.

As much as her stubborness was pushing on, her body was giving out. Her vision started to blur, and her eyelids were blinking less and less wide with every blink. She spotted a boulder then, and tried to focus in on it but her body could not take anymore.

Eve's eyes slipped closed fully, unconscious even before she had landed, her body suddenly dropping like a lead weight out of the sky.

EVE & ZARYTTO

Zarytto was standing right outside the mouth of a cave he’d found, holding the carcass of a less intelligent habitant of the planet by it’s neck. A tug from a fighting level caught his attention then. His head turned and his gaze raised to the horizon. A confused frown masked his expression.

Who could it be? Did they send someone to kill me? Will they go to that extend?

A figure then appeared, levitating over the area he’d once been. The mohawked Saiyan squinted his eyes and he couldn’t believe who he saw. She was the last person he’d expected to see. But if it’s an order to kill, then she’s probably the best choice.

He powered up just enough to give him the speed and floating ability he required. All of a sudden, he saw her plummeting towards the ground. It took him by surprise for a brief moment. Almost had him frozen mid flight before he dashed towards her and dove down before he grabbed her. Falling headlong beside her, he wrapped an arm around her waist while the other tuck her head towards his chest. She was unconscious, so he brought her back to the cave with him. Laying her down surprisingly gentle beside the bonfire, he then retrieved his intended meal and sat across of Eve.

-------

Eve had no idea how long she was out for, but slowly her fingers twitched and her eyebrows pressed down uncomfortably so as she groaned. Her back was cold, but there were the soft sounds of a fire crackling nearby along with a steady warmth on her side. Ever so gently one leg lifted up, knee bent and a boot resting flat against the ground and her arms tensed as she sat up slowly on her elbows.

Her blue eyes were probably the last to function, slowly blinking wider but still halfway in her exhaustion. “W… where am I?” She whispered, peering around suddenly. It was only then her gaze fell on Zarytto sitting across from her, eyes widening in surprise. “Zary… tto? But how come… Why am I…” She was woefully confused and it showed.

Was she dreaming?

She knew she had been looking for him and half her surprise was simply having found him.

--------

He had a couple of meat skewered on a stick and cooked over the flame while he sat and munch on a huge chunk. With his mouth full, he wiped his lips with the back of his hand and held Eve’s gaze. The familiar frown returned. His glare none too kind whatsoever. He did after all wondered if she was here to kill him. Swallowing down a mouthful, he grunted and then, “Tch! Why’d you come after me? Did Korvaiis sent you to finish me off?”

There was no beating around the bush with Zarytto. He spoke his mind. Perhaps a little too straightforward that some might find it rather offensive or insulting. Well, maybe it’s more than just some.

“You can try, but before that…” he reached for a stick with the cooking meat on it and tossed it to her. “Feast!” he scowled. “You need the strength for I won't make it easy!”

-----

Eve blinked innocently as he glared her down, he had done nothing but glare at her since they had met and she was so used to it now it didn’t phase her in the slightest. Though he asked if Korvaiis had sent her to kill him, to which she shook her head.

“N..no! I asked him if I could talk to you...Why are you not at the ship with everyone else?”

She single handedly caught the meat skewer with that same bewildered look on her face. So he assumed she was going to kill him, and he was giving her food to recover? What kind of Saiyan did that… She started to wonder if he was the cold blooded killer everyone had assumed he was.

“Your Zenkai is locked… It’s not safe out here on your own… What if someone took you by surprise, a stronger opponent… You’d be killed!”

She didn’t mean for it to sound like she was worried but it must have shown on her face by now.

-------

“Talk to me?” he was utterly confused when she said it. “And why I’m not on the ship? Tch! So you would stick around those who’d thrown you into exile?” he asked. “Not safe on my own? I’ve been safe on my own all these years until I joined the party! And I’m already dead when I was left to fend for myself in the wilderness! Yes, my Zenkai is locked! But I don't plan on hanging around and beg for it to be undone!” he exclaimed before tearing at the meat with his teeth.

----

Eve’s eyes lowered to the floor, suddenly not altogether hungry. She would have responded with of course she would stay with those who exiled her, but she was different. She always had a bad habit of hanging around while unwanted, which only proved the point more why she was there in the first place.

She threw the meat stick back to him, a long sigh escaping and that dull look returning to her eyes.

“So… you are leaving m- ....us, then?”

Curling her legs up to her chest, that overwhelming sadness returning. Like a black cloud that wouldn’t leave. What purpose did she have now without Zarytto to constantly fight for?.. It was selfish, probably, but without him she felt useless.

-----

The mohawked Saiyan stopped chewing and tilted his head sideways with a deep furrow between his brows. Did he just heard her right? Was she going to say “me” instead of “us”? He returned to his meal after catching the food from her. No matter how much he stared and studied this female before him, he just couldn't get his finger on her intentions.

They were always bickering most of the time. Always in disagreement. In conflict with one another. Everybody knew that. So just what was she doing here? What did she want with him?

“Tch!” Zarytto grunted. “I thought you were a strong Saiyan before! Now…” he paused. “Tch! Chin up! Always hold your head up high! Never show weakness to your enemies! Such is the Saiyan pride! Never forget that! Never forget our Saiyan pride!” he finished, concluding his statements without answering her question. As if it was his last words for her.

-----

He spoke with such conviction that she found her gaze lifting from the dirt ground to stare at him.

“I don’t see you as an enemy!” She bellowed suddenly, her own eyebrows pressed down in anger.

“I don’t care if a single other damn Saiyan on that ship gives a Saiyan tail if you live or die, but I don’t want you to go!!” Here she tightened a fist and smashed it against the ground, her vision blurred with the tears she was trying to hold back.

“Forget Saiyan Pride if that’s why you're leaving, I want nothing to do with it if that’s why you’re running away! Because that’s what you are doing...you are running away from me!”

She thought for a moment of correcting herself from me to us, but she was so emotionally torn it slipped even before she could stop it.

-----

Zarytto straightened his back and tossed the meat in his hand into the fire, sending ember across the side. His face contorted with anger. Teeth baring like some animal before he stood and stomped over to the mouth of the cave. Fists clenched and his limbs trembled with adrenaline.

How dare she? Forget Saiyan pride? Running away? Me? Who does she think she is?

“If that’s how it looked like to you,” he ended up saying. “So be it! I am tired of trying to understand the whole lot of you! And I don’t blame all you simpleminded fools to understand me either!” he glanced over his shoulder. “Go back to the ship! For the umpteenth time, I won't return to a place where I've been thrown out of!” then, he turned forward and started to walk away.

-----

She watched him stand, tremble, she even flinched expecting him to attack her or swing at her like he had earlier today. But he didn’t. In fact, if anything, rather than argue back at her he simply blamed them all, and told her to go back to the ship. Like somehow he was angry that she may have been partially right. He must see he’s running away, doesn’t he?

So that was that then. Zarytto would not return, and she would likely never see him again...she froze and watched his back retreating; fearful and saddened once more.

And then she did something she didn’t even understand herself. She leapt and ran straight for him and threw her arms around his middle, the side of her head pressed hard in against his back. Her arms tensed with the force to hold him there, still, flush to her front. Her eyes closed waiting for him to smack her or throw her off. Blast her away?

She kept her eyebrows furrowed as she waited for his reaction, her arms tucked under his, allowing his shoulders full movement. “Please don’t go…” She said barely above a whisper.

Kyero said:

@Genon @Zuka @Lord Zanicus @Anime King Kaleb
When Korvaiis gave the order to dismiss, Karas decided now was as good a time as any to bring up his issue with Korvaiis. It hurt to see what Eve was going through. Saiyan Authority Syndrome, or severe commanditis, was apparently worse than he had ever imagined. It was one thing to burst into tears when reprimanded by a commanding officer. It was another to outright break, to become so traumatized one was an empty shell of their former self. That was what Eve was right now. Broken. And Karas could not stand to see a fellow soldier in such a pathetic state. After Eve had left, Karas walked up to Korvaiis. His face was perhaps more serious than most had seen him out of battle.

"Commander, we need to talk. About Eve."
