Karas was relieved that Era was alright, but he couldn't help but be apprehensive at what Zyra and Elise had planned. They were testing the Saiyans, sure, but now they were imprisoning them. Honestly, Raid Group 02A deserved what it got. He hated this entire moronic plan. There were a million and one flaws in it, from betraying Xol's trust by blowing up a planet, to the fact that it was unlikely that anyone in the group would have the energy to destroy the planet (since they would have to work together to do so) after defeating the planet's defenders. Then there were the ethical problems. Attacking a neutral society? Killing hundreds of innocent people just trying to earn a living? This didn't sound like a 'peaceful' Saiyan race. It sounded even worse than his kind was before Metahnn got blown up!Kyero said:Era was rushed through the medical facility on a gurney to a sterile room with all of the doctors wearing protective and air-tight suits to prevent any spread of natural germs or bacteria. This was going to be a surgical operation, and they couldn't risk any spreading of whatever other germs were on their clothing, armor, skin, or through the very air they breathed.
Zyra, in the meantime, sat outside the room meditating.
Once inside the sterile room Era was prepped by the team of doctors and Raze. She was then propped up onto a surface that was attached to a fully realized 3D projection of her body which could be analyzed in very special ways.
"Strip the armor, clothing, flesh, and musculature." The lead doctor, Solos, ordered.
One layer at a time the corresponding elements were removed. First her armor. Then her clothing. Then her skin. And finally her musculature.
"... Remove the skeleton." Solos ordered.
The skeleton was removed, showing only internal organs and a general outline of where the rest of her body would be.
"Zoom in on the solar plexus region!" Solos ordered.
The projection zoomed in on the center of Era's chest to where her heart, lungs, and a portion of her stomach could be seen.
"All right. Strip the vital organs and enhance the Ki pathways." Solos ordered.
The major organs disappeared and the body was all but empty save for the nervous system and the Ki pathways flowing through her body. The image was somewhat mystifying. The nervous system showed up as a solid orange-red series of lines throughout the body. The Ki pathways were smooth, flowing, and a light blue coloration which followed the nervous system quite closely save for the fact that it held its origin just off center of the chest behind where the heart would be.
"Zoom in on the Core." Solos ordered.
The projection zoomed in on the center of the Ki pathway just behind the heart's location. The pathways thickened to a spherical body of Ki flowing in a near perfect circle leading out to the rest of the Ki pathways which branched out of it.
"Zoom in further! We need to see this foreign body!" He ordered.
The projection zoomed in further until the Core was taking up nearly the entire projection.
"There it is." He said at last.
Within the Core was the faintest green dot of foreign Ki. That was the parasite.
"All right, let's open her up. Flip her onto her back and we'll begin." He said.
The projection remained as it was on the wall, but flipped 180 degrees horizontally to mimic the fact that Era was turned onto her stomach. Over her mouth was a breathing apparatus as well as an IV in her arm to deliver fresh and viable blood as her blood type had been taken just before entering the sterile room.
The doctors carefully removed Era's armor and clothing from her back above where the operation was to take place, but left the rest of it as it was. They then draped a large cloth over her body and opened a hole above where they'd removed her armor. Once this was set, the first doctor swabbed her back with a reddish liquid to numb the flesh and deaden the nervous system temporarily while the operation took place.

An incision was made just to the left of the spine approximately 8 inches in length vertically. The flesh was peeled back slowly revealing the musculature of her back and a portion of the spinal chord itself. The flesh was then fastened in place by surgical clamps so the doctors could move more freely.
"Scalpel, please." Soros requested.
Another doctor handed him the requested item and he began carefully cutting the lining of the musculature so that he could pry it to one side and reveal what lay beneath. The pumping heart could be seen, as well as the lungs, ribs, stomach, and portions of the upper region of her kidneys.
The doctor then brought out a specialized microscope attached to a kind of surgical needle. The microscope was capable of zooming in to over 5,000x normal magnification if needed. Such extreme magnification wouldn't be necessary this time. Maybe a few hundred times. But it was capable. Solos then flicked a glass lens over the microscope which revealed Era's Ki pathways to him. Everything but the Ki pathway was dark blue while the pathways themselves were a glowing white.
He focused in on her Ki Core once he found it, and zoomed in until he could just barely see the parasite within. The needle was moved in closer until it came into view within the microscope's outer edge. Solos then zoomed in further until the parasite was a few millimeters in length in his field of vision.
A bead of sweat dropped from his temple inside his suit.
One misstep at this stage would permanently damage Era's Ki pathways and cripple her ability to concentrate Ki throughout her body. She'd never be able to power up as rapidly, gather Ki in her hands as quickly, project Ki as precisely, or even heal properly from injuries as Ki was a necessary component of Saiyan biology as far as their natural recovery speed was concerned.
The doctor carefully moved the needle in closer until it once again appeared on the outer edge of his field of view through the microscope. Then he zoomed in one final time and moved the needle into view.
"Everyone, please remain absolutely silent." He ordered.
He then carefully moved the needle forward once the alignment had been made. The needle penetrated Era's Ki Core, and this was where things got dangerous. If he so much as twitched in his hand the needle would tear her Ki Core apart and then it'd be over. If her Ki Core was damaged beyond a certain extent, the entire Ki pathway would go dead and Era would die on the spot within minutes of the operation's failing.
Slowly, steadily, he manipulated the needle into position above the Ki parasite's location. Once it was set, he ever so gently touched a button on the microscope's controls. A tiny "whisp" was heard, and the green parasite on the projection nearby was gone.
It had been successfully sucked into the needle and into a specialized containment tube on the back, but that was only half the battle. Now Solos had to remove the needle without damaging her Ki Core. Slowly and ever so carefully he retracted the needle making sure that both it and Era's body remained perfectly still. Nanometer by nanometer the needle was retracted until at last, after nearly 30 agonizing seconds it exited her Ki Core.
Not out of the woods yet. The Ki Core had a visible hole in it from where the needle had entered and disrupted its flow. They had to wait until the Core managed to revitalize the flow of Ki. Seconds ticked by, and the hole began to close and fill. And finally it filled completely. Her Ki Core was undamaged and had returned to normal.
An audible sigh of relief was heard throughout the room.
"Everyone, a job well done." Solos said.
The doctors all began to quietly congratulate one another for the successful removal of this parasite. Era's musculature was reset and sealed in place with a natural adhesive, her skin sewn shut, and a large bandage applied to the area as well as a new numbing agent so she wouldn't feel too much when she awoke. Already on the screens nearby her power level was returning to normal now that the parasite wasn't feeding off of it as before.
Everyone was ushered out of the room save for Solos who remained by Era's side to wake her up so that she might be able to fly back to the others with Zyra and Raze.
Meanwhile, Raze was taken aside by one of the other doctors just outside the room.
"That parasite was identified by the computer as Iptus Conrachtum, a deadly strain of Ki consuming bacteria which lives and grows normally on the far side of the galaxy. How your friend contracted it, I don't know. However if it's any kind of possible answer it is most commonly found in the Ghectin species which are a subservient species under the rule of Overlord Inecros. By chance did your group encounter some of them before?"
((As I mentioned to Zuka this species was among those on the first Scout vessel that came to the planet we went to with Korvaiis as our new "home planet" before Inecros destroyed Metahnn and the other worlds. Raze would remember them.))
"Either way, your friend is safe now and should recover without any issues. But I advise that you check the rest of your team for any other signs of parasites. My Lady, there, was able to sense this parasite along with her companion. If they didn't detect it in any of you aside from this one then there's next to zero chance that you or anyone else in your group is infected. But still, a once over would be in order. If anyone does have such a parasite, bring them back here." The doctor advised.
Era then walked out of the room. She was drowsy, but on her feet. Zyra stood up and walked over to her.
"Glad to see you up and about, little one. It's time to return to your friends. Follow me." She said.
Era was too drowsy to even remember that Zyra was an enemy and she followed her order without question. They slowly flew back to the others, whom Elise had remained with the entire time. As Era landed Sil rushed to her side and gently embraced her while Zyra landed in front of Korvaiis.
"Your friend is lucky beyond words, Saiyan Commander. Your group arrived mere minutes before the parasite entered its final phase of life. I overheard the doctors telling the one with the bionic hand that had it been left like that the parasite would have utterly consumed and shut down her Ki Core which would have resulted in her death. As it stands, she will live."
Korvaiis gave a bow of his head.
"You have my thanks for saving her life."
"You are all, as of this moment, officially labeled as prisoners under my authority on this planet. You will all come quietly to the facility where you will be placed under armed guard until such a time as I decide what to do with you. Any attempts to resist will be met with death by the hand of my companion."
She gestured to Elise who's arms were still crossed in front of her chest.
"Do you understand your position?" She asked.
Korvaiis took in a breath, and let it out on a sigh.
"Yes. We understand."
Zyra nodded.
"Good. Then come with us immediately. I am not known for making decisions quickly, so once we get there make yourselves at home." She said.
She and Elise then led them back to the facility where the entire group was placed in a single large room with ten beds, a dining table to hold just as many, and a few extra chairs. That was it. No windows. No doors save for the one Elise was now standing guard outside of. No water. No food. Nothing. An empty room with only a place for each to sleep, sit down, or stand around. The dining table was there as a method of psychological torture reminding them of food when they were being denied it by their captors.
Korvaiis sat on the floor and began to meditate, leaving the others to figure out what to do with themselves as they waited for the floral one to make a decision about their group.

Karas had sat down on another lower bunk, looking at Korvaiis. "Commander, I didn't tell you this before because I generally trust your judgment. But there are so many flaws and risks in this plan even if the two aliens hadn't been present that I think it would have done more harm than good had it succeeded. For one, this planet is neutral. Its population consists of members of a few dozen species-civilizations, most of which have varying stances on the Saiyans and on Inecros. Killing any one of them could be used as a pretext for their native civilization to declare war on us, which I think we all agree the Saiyans really don't need right now."
Karas would have mentioned the morality of the assault, but with Nei and Kendra so close by, it might cause an incident if he revealed how 'soft' he was. Soft. He hated that word. It was the word that most Saiyans used to shut down any criticism of their actions on the battlefield. The insult implied that if you weren't a reckless brute who mindlessly charged into battle without thinking of the consequences and exercised the utmost cruelty when dealing with innocents, you were somehow less of a person. Utterly disgusting and untrue.
Instead, he continued, "Second, how were we even to destroy the planet anyway? While the insectoid and plant-woman were more powerful than any of us could have reasonably expected, we all knew there would be defenders, and likely powerful ones too. It takes a power level of at least 250,000 to destroy a planet with ki alone, meaning that it would take me, you, and another Raid Group member to blow it up at the very least, and it would take an enormous amount of our energy reserves to pull it off. It's doubtful that after killing the planet's defenders we would have the energy left to do the deed."
"I'm not quite sure if any plan I could come up with would have taken out the two aliens we encountered, but as it stands I think this assault would have been disastrous in any case," Karas finished. His arms were crossed and he waited for a response from the commander.
