Realistic or Modern Don’t Tell Me to Calm Down

She frowned and shook her head. “He’s passed out Wayne. He was just sad. This isn’t one of his outbursts… he just wants his little girl back but she won’t be coming back… I think this could really work this time.” She told him quietly. “I’ll call when we’re on our way home in the morning.” She assured him then hung up and went to get comfy on the bed to get some sleep.

He frowned a little seeing the lights on in the lounge and walked in slowly, smiling at his girls a little. “It is way past both your bed times.” He smiled, lifting lilah into his arms when she reached for him looking like she was fighting to keep her eyes open. “Oh my little princess. I missed you today. I got you something.” He told her quietly, reaching into his rucksack on the floor and pulled out a little stuffed animal, handing it to her.

Wayne gave a small sigh but nodded "Alright sweetheart, if its what you want then I'll support you." He said before telling her goodbye and going back to check on the kids.

Eddie woke up a few hours later groaning softly hearing the TV playing. He looked around finally off his high seeing Carmen there "Carmen...."

Max said nothing as he came in and picked up their daughter. She gave a small smile seeing how happy Lilah was now that her daddy was home. She watched as he took Lilah back to go to bed and sighed heavily shaking her head a bit.

She glanced over at him and sighed a little. “Hey, how you feeling?” She asked him quietly, reaching over for his hand to help him up. “I got some room service so there’s food here.” She mumbled

Once she was finally asleep he headed out to their room, kicking his shoes off and went to lay with her, “Bills are covered for the next month now.” He mumbled, kissing her head.

Eddie frowned deeply as he watched her for a moment. He tugged her hand to try and bring her closer cuppimg her face as she moved to lay facing him "Why did you come here? Why did you stay?" He asked softly

Max frowned as she felt the bed dip as he got in and gave a small nod "You need a shower....you reek of cheap perfume, alcohol, and weed." She muttered knowing he had spent all night at the local club. She knew he wasn't cheating, it was just where they went to talk business and everything. It was how they met actually, she had been 18 needing a job desperately, him only 20 and just starting out in the life he had chosen.

He frowned. “In the morning. I’m tired babe.” He grumbled, burying his face into her neck. “I just wanna hold you and sleep.” He murmured, keeping her close to him. “I’ve been thinking you know.” He mumbled tiredly. “Lilah needs a sibling. The money is coming in good now, we can afford the two kids.”

She frowned and watched him. “Thats a stupid question Ed. Because Jamie told me everything. And the fact you missed our daughters funeral… you’re an idiot but you love your kids…. I was worried you had overdosed. And I stayed because I love you. I always have done and I wanted to make sure you were okay.” She told him

Max sighed heavily but gave a small nod and cuddled into him some still keeping her back towards him. She tensed when he mentioned another kid and shook her head slightly "No...I already told you no and my mind hasn't changed Clay." She said seriously as she turned to face him cupping his face "Yes....we have the money...but for how long? Clay I don't know how much longer I can do this....you're almost never here....we miss you...Lilah needs her father and so would her sibling if we were to have one."

Eddie stared at her for a moment before giving a small nod and leant in pressing a gentle but loving kiss to her forehead "I love you Carmen...more than anything in this world." He whispered pressing his forehead to hers and closing his eyes.

She frowned and watched him “Bullshit. You love your kids more than me but I can live with that… you wanna try and give us one more shot?” She asked him quietly

He frowned some and shook his head. “Babe I’m working on it…. I’ve just hit a few minor road blocks but soon enough I won’t have to be gone all day.” He promised her quietly, kissing her nose. “I love you. You and our little jelly bean.” He promised her as he started drifting off now.

Eddie looked at her in a bit of shock but nodded some "You want that?" He asked softly smiling some as she nodded "Yeah I'd like that a lot." He whispered

Max gave a small nod and gave him a quick kiss "I love you too." She said quietly as he started to fall asleep. She stayed awake a while after that just trying to wrap her mind around things before finally falling into a dreamless sleep.

She smiled and watched him. “Eddie we’ve both fucked up. Maybe you have more but that doesn’t matter now… I’m not wasting anymore time and losing more of my family because we’ve been stubborn.” She told him quietly.

Clay woke up early to hands on his face and groaned a little, getting up when he heard lilah fussing about wanting cartoons and breakfast, picking her up and carrying her over his shoulder on his way downstairs, “what you want little chicken?” He asked her, kissing her head once he set her down in the kitchen.

Eddie nodded softly and smiled some at her "Where are the kids? Are they alright?" He asked quietly before he started to sit up and go grab someof the food she had ordered.

Liliah ran into her parents room the next morning giggling happily when she saw her dad still there. She woke him up and squealed some as he threw her over his shoulders to take her down to the kitchen. She smiled happily and pointed to her cereal when he asked what she wanted "Cereal please!" She said while watching him. "Daddy? Why you not home a lot anymore?"

She nodded. “They’re at home with Wayne. We should probably head back over there later so he can go home.” She told him quietly, pulling her knees to her chest, watching him. “You remember when we took them to Disney once Tilly was five?” She asked him quietly, “your first big spend once the band hit big and Jack had like three different tantrums and Lucas screamed at every character.” She smiled. “But Tilly had the best time. She always said it was one of her favourite memories from being a little kid with you.” She told him.

He smiled and got her what she wanted, getting some coffee and sitting down with her. “Cause I gotta work baby. To make money to get you toys and food and clothes and pay the bills… and sometimes my work means I don’t get to come home til really late at night.” He told her.

Eddie stopped his eating and frowned deeply giving a small nod "I remember it like it was yesterday...she was so happy to meet the princesses." He said quietly before taking a shaky breath and going to sit with her again "Before....before we go back...could we see her?" He asked quietly

Lilah nodded some and gave a small frown "Mommy is sad though, she says she misses you." She said softly before starting to eat her food.

She nodded and watched him. “Did Jack tell you we had an argument that morning? I called her a spoiled brat…. That was the last thing I ever said to her.” She told him swallowing back tears. “But all she wanted was to come out and see you over the summer and I told her she had to ask you and it just escalated…. And now she’s been taken away from us… she’s not going to prom or graduating and she isn’t getting married.” She was shaking by this point and sobbing as it was finally truly sinking in that she was gone.

He frowned and watched her. “I know kiddo but once your school finishes for break maybe we can take a little holiday just the three of us.” He suggested. “So you and mommy can have me to yourselves for a few days. No work.” He smiled, looking up seeing max come downstairs. “Morning gorgeous. You want anything for breakfast?”

Eddie frowned deeply and held her close to him letting more tears fall. He was eventually crying with her as well feeling it all set in for him "She didn't deserve this." He whispered

Max came downstairs giving a soft smile as she saw Lilah up with her Dad. She looked over at Clayton and kissed his cheek gently "I'll make some eggs and bacon for us."

She frowned and just shook her head, not trusting her voice anymore and eventually falling asleep curled up into him for the first time in years.

He smiled and nodded. “Sounds good to me.” He murmured. “I don’t have any work til this evening if you wanted to do anything.” He told her quietly, standing behind her and holding his arms around her.

Eddie kept her close to him letting her sleep as long as she needed while he sat watchimg the TV quietly.

Max got things to make breakfast and gave a small nod leaning into him as he held her "Oh yeah? I know I'd like to maybe have dinner together, and posssibly a movie night."

She woke up early in the morning to her phone ringing, groaning quietly but answered it in a bit of a haze. “Hello? Yes speaking… He what? Shit okay uh… I can be there really soon. Where should I go once I get there?” She asked them quickly, shaking Eddie to have him get up as well. “Thank you. We will be there soon,” she told them, hanging up and getting up, getting her shoes back on. “Lucas had five seizures in a row last night. Wayne had to call him an ambulance.” She told him quickly, getting her bag and her keys quickly while she waited for him to get dressed.

He frowned and sighed. “I just told you I got work this evening. It’s gonna be another late one too. But you got me all day til like five o’clock.” He pointed out. “Just not tonight.”

Eddie groaned when Carmen shook him awake the next morning. He grunted some but when he heard what she said he quickly got up and dressed as quickly as possible. "Alright where do I need to go?" He asked quickly as he got all his things.

Max frowned deeply but gave a small nod "Sorry I misheard. Then some lunch, maybe we could take Lilah to the park?" She murmured smiling as Lilah chimed in with a Yes from her.

She frowned and shook her head. “Just memorial…. I’m hoping it’s just stress setting it off.” She muttered as they made their way out to his rental car, getting in and chewing on her nails the whole way over. “I need you to take another look at the car too cause it’s been struggling to start again.” She mumbled, trying to not panic.

Clay chuckled a little and nodded. “I think it’s been decided for us.” He told her quietly, kissing her head. “I think mommy gets to pick where we go for lunch though kiddo.” He told lilah, moving to pick up his phone as it went off, going to take the call in the next room for a minute.

Eddie gave a small nod and pulled her hand in his as he started to drive "Hey....hey listen to me, try to stay calm okay? He's going to be okay." He said in a comforting voice. As they got to the hospital he dropped her off at the front before going around to find a parking spot.

Max gave a small smile but frowned gently as his phone went off. She finished up breakfast and put it out for the two of them. She sighed softly as he came back watching him some "Do you need to leave?"

She just nodded and frowned, going to find the room she’d been told, getting in there and quickly going to him. “Oh Lucas I’m here baby. I’m here.” She told him quickly, seeing he was awake but he still looked kinda out of it. He always had brain fog afterwards but the few times he’d had this many in a row it took a lot longer for him to come out of it again. “It’s mom baby.” She coaxed as she saw the confusion on his face.

He came back in and shook his head. “No. I told them not til tonight. They’ll be alright without me for a morning.” He promised her, taking a seat to dig in to his breakfast. “What park did you guys wanna go to?” He asked her.

Lucas frowned when he saw his mom come into the room looking a bit confused. He knew her face, but his brain fog was so bad that it wasn't connecting that she was his mother. He gave her hand a squeeze when she said she was his mother "Momma..." he murmured groaning softly.

Max gave a small nod and smiled a bit "There is a new one that just opened up in the town over, probably thirty minutes away if that. Lilah has been wanting to go since she saw it being built." she explained while eating with him. She missed this, missed having him there with them and having his full attention.

She frowned and nodded, sitting in the chair next to the bed. “I’m here baby.” She promised, smoothing his hair out of his face and just being there quietly with him until she heard eddies voice coming down the hall, “your dad is here too.”

He nodded and smiled a little, “sounds like a plan.” He murmured, putting his dishes in the sink when he was done and went to take a shower to get cleaned up and get the smell of the club off of him.

Eddie came in once he found the room frowning some when he noticed the upset look on Lucas' face "Hey...you doing alright?" He asked him as he sat down next to Carmen.

Max got Lilah setup downstairs while she went to get dressed quickly for the day. She smirked some seeing Clay come out in only a towel and water still dripping off him "Mmm lookin good papí." She murmured as she went over to him and kissed him gently.
