Realistic or Modern Don’t Tell Me to Calm Down

She smiled and shook her head, “I don’t know yet love. We got time though.” She mumbled, just swaying with him and watching him. “I’m glad we gave it another shot.” She told him quietly.

Clay just stared at the blankets, a little in shock but at the same time it hadn’t been unexpected for him. It just felt weird hearing it out loud.

Eddie smiled widely as he swayed with her as well "I'm happy we did too." He murmured quietly before giving her another peck on the lips.

Max frowned as she looked at her husband taking a deep breath "So.....what....what do we do? Do we take this, or do we go find another opinion?"

He frowned a little and shrugged. “I don’t know…. I don’t… I wanna see these new scans before we decide anything.” He told her quietly, starting to get tired again.

Carmen smiled and pecked his lips, pulling away to go say goodnight to Maya and make sure the house was locked up, heading up to go take a showe.

Max gave a small nod before she gave his forehead a kiss "Alright we'll do that then." She said softly as he started to nod off. Once she knew she was fully asleep she finally broke down and tried to get everything out of her system before the kids called.

Eddie made his way up to bed with her shortly after and fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. Once the next morning rolled around he woke up to the smell of food and quickly got up to follow it downstairs "Something smells delicious."

Jose was the one who called, still feeling guilty that he’d been yelling at him when everything happened alongside the fact lilah had locked herself in her room. “Is dad gonna come home today?” He asked his mom soon as she picked up.

She nodded a little and smiled. “Just toaster waffles puppy.” She told him, getting him a plate anyway.

Max took a deep breath as she picked up the phone "Hey baby, no but he'll be home tomorrow. They already told us so." She said softly "How are you doing? Did you get dinner?"

Eddie smiled happily and kissed her gently "Mmm still smells great." He said happily before wrapping his arms around her

He frowned and sighed a little. “Yeah we got some Chinese.” He told her. “Is dad gonna be okay?” He asked frowning some, worried sick.

Carmen smiled a little, shaking her head. “Eddie. Go sort yourself out. It’s way too early and we are way too old for morning sex.” She told him, knowing him too well to not know what his intentions were. “Go on you animal. Food will be ready when you’re done.” She promised, pecking his cheek and going to lay the table, excited for what the future was bringing for the first time in a long time.

Max took a deep breath and gave a small nod "Yeah he should be, we still have to see all the scans before we get the final diagnosis." She explained quietly to him "Jose, this isn't your fault okay? Its better that you were there when it all happened, or else he would have been alone." She explained trying to make him not feel as guilty.

Eddie gasped dramatically and went off upstairs to get ready. He came back down about 10 minutes later pouring himself a cup of juice before sitting down at the breakfast nook "So how much longer do we have to wait for the baby? Three more months? She said she was six months didn't she?"

Carmen nodded and smiled a little. “At least close to it I would assume.” She told him. They were in super close contact with her for the following two and Carmen was spending loads of time getting everything sorted with her but shortly after she hit the eight month mark she’d gone completely radio silent on them and Carmen was stressing. She felt like they’d had the idea of their first grandkid dangled in front of them and then taken away for no apparent reason and she’d spent the last few days trying to keep busy but failing. “Ed! We need to do groceries, you’re coming with me so I don’t go insane!” She called to him.

He frowned but nodded and just wiped his eyes, talking to her for a minute and finally hanging up to go to bed now knowing they would be back tomorrow

Eddie came into the room while still getting his shirt on and nodded a bit. He'd been just as bad of a wreck with her about the grandbaby. While he did his best to try and stay positive, something bad was nagging at the back of his head "Alright alright I'm comin." He said as he went to grab his shoes.

Max sighed heavily as he hung up and soon did her best to get comfortable and tried to sleep a bit.

She turned to look at him and smiled a little seeing he’d pulled out his old battle vest for the day. “Maya sent me a list of stuff to pick up for her as well.” She told him, heading out to the car with him. “I tried calling again last night. No answer.”

Clay woke up early the following morning and lay there frowning, all the information of yesterday going through his head a Mike a minute as he worried and just tried to process what was going to happen but it still seemed so surreal to him

Eddie got in the car with her and gave a small sigh "Maybe we should go to to her apartment..." he said sighing softly pulling his seatbelt on and driving to the car.

Max came into the room after using the restroom and gave a small smile "Hey handsome; you sleep okay?" She asked quietly

He frowned a little and shook his head. “My body hurts. I’m still tired. I’m freaking out.” He mumbled, staring at the floor.

She shook her head and frowned. “I don’t think that’s gonna do anything but make it worse.” She sighed a little, rubbing at her face.

Max sat beside him and nodded softly taking his hand in hers "We'll figure this out okay? I know we will." She said quietly

Eddie gave a heavy sigh but nodded some "Maybe we should send the cops over for a welfare check, what if something happened?" He said hoping it was just Emily ignoring them

Clay frowned and just nodded, closing his eyes to try and tune out the morning, just wanting to get home but shortly after they had brought him breakfast he had to put the barely touched food to the side so he could lay down again, starting g to get dizzy even just sitting up, the light fever he’d been running the whole past week starting to get a little worse too.

She frowned a little and shook her head. “Ed stop!” She snapped a little. “If she doesn’t want to talk to us then she doesn’t want to talk to us!” She told him harshly just sick of things going wrong for them and sick of being reminded about it.

Max frowned deeply when she saw his fever start to climb up. She pressed the call button and sighed softly hoping everything was okay. When the nurse came in she looked over and frowned some "His fever is rising."

Eddie frowned deeply and gave a heavy sigh "Right.." he muttered before falling silent for the rest of the ride to the store

“We can give him some tylenol but it’s going to be like this on and off… and it would be cheaper for you guys to go get some tylenol from a CVS or something. We’re gonna get you discharged here in a bit. Obviously the best thing to do is go home and rest. Then you’ve got another appointment to come in next week to discuss treatment.” She told clay who’s just nodded slowly the whole time. He just wanted to get home at least.

She got out with him once they got there, grabbing a cart and starting to head inside when her phone went off, “you go in I’ll catch up.” She muttered, picking it up

Max gave her a nod and thanked her quietly before grabbing her purse. She rummaged through it for a moment before grabbing her travel bottle of tylenol. She placed two pills in his hand once she got them out and stood up "Let me get you some water." She murmured

Eddie took the cart from her and gave a nod "Alright, just give me a call." He said before heading towards the door while she took the call.

Carmen spoke to them for a couple minutes before hanging up and going straight into the store, finding Eddie looking at the cookie aisle, grabbing his arm. “We gotta go. Now. I’ll explain on the way.” She told him

He nodded tiredly and frowned a little, watching her. “This is gonna be a long road.” He mumbled sighing to himself. They got him home by noon and he walked in, immediately getting ambushed by Jose who had rushed up to hug him before disappearing to his room. “He feels really bad huh?” Clay asked max as they made their way to the couch

Eddie frowned a bit and left the empty cart as he rushed out with her "Aw man I didn't even get my cookies." He teased but frowned when she glared at him "Whats wrong?" He asked starting to grow concerned himself.

Max got him home and gave a heavy sigh as she watched Jose rush back to his room. She gave Clay a nod and helped him to the couch "Yeah, he feels like its possibly his fault that you had to go to the hospital."

She frowned and shook her head. “She’s had the baby. Three days ago. That was the hospital calling. She’s left. She’s just abandoned him and they can’t find her. She left her apartment and everything…. They want us to go down and get him.” She told him.

Clay frowned but nodded and just leaned back, watching her. “Talk to me love.” He coaxed, running his fingers through her hair.

Eddie went wide eyed and nodded before he got into the car and sped out of the parking lot "Shit we don't even have a carrier for him! Okay lets just get there and see what we need to do. I can go get one afterwards if they'll allow you to stay." He rambled mostly just saying his thoughts outload to himself.

Max took a shaky breath before looking up at him letting a few tears fall "Lilah is pregnant....I have to set up a doctor's appointment for her." She said quietly before bursting into tears "And this diagnosis....what if there is nothing we can do? I don't...I don't want to loose you."

He froze and just stared at her in shock. “Back the fuck up…. Lilah… WHAT?!” He shouted, “no. No she’s way too young what the fu- Lilah! Get your ass down here!” He called up the stairs.

She nodded and frowned. “Don’t panic. First we just go down there and see what’s going on.” She coaxed, rubbing his arm gently to ground him. “Ed slow down please.” She reminded him

Max frowned deeply and sat up shaking her head some "Clay calm down....listen it was a mess up she made with her boyfriend. I seem to remember us doing the same with her." She pointed out before looking at Lilah as she came down "Come sit down sweetheart."

Eddie took deep breaths to steady himself and nodded some "Right....right." he said quietly as he started to slow down just a bit. He rushed in with her once they found a parking spot and took a deep breath as they got to the front desk letting Carmen talk to the nurse

“Yeah and we were almost 20 not 16. There’s a big difference. You really okay with this?!” He questioned her, starting to get a little too worked up so had to lean back and just focus on settling again.

Carmen frowned and stepped over. “Hi, I got a call to come down here. Our grandson was born a few days ago but his mother has left and has abandoned him.”
