Darkness in Elaria [ACTUAL RP]

Skjorn exited the tent leaving Skudi to his thoughts and searched for Ausinoe. He saw her as she was looking around, taking everything in he approached her and nodded.

"I believe we have things to discuss?" Skjorn asked looking down to her.

"I believe we do." She returned with gratitude. "I take it that Skudi must have told you of Dartak's true nature?"

Skjorn looked back at the tent then back to Ausinoe.

"Little, he has many things to think about, now he said I could help you… what do you need done?" Skjorn asked as he escorted her to the firepit where they had heard the song of the lonely mountain.

"Truly... I don't know where to start." She knelt upon the ground with fatigue, both in body and in soul. "I had no plans of battling darkness when I came here. I have no plan, I came here as a refugee fleeing persecution. Thus, I cannot say what I need done." She paused. "But I can tell you of everything I know."

"After you left with Cypherion for the Dead Marsh, I decided that I needed to learn more of this land, to see if your urging rang true or not. I travelled to Odeklundr, and was welcomed by the king. Skudi was to be my guide around the hollows, and when I spoke of my magic, he took me to a carving of the dark wizard Dartak." She began "Initially, I could not read the runes, but as I examined the stone, I noticed a passage scribbled in the Classical Encathani Dialect of the Murutha."
" The most clear of these runes was the passage Lam arashme Aeshin Shushannu Ateo, meaning "The Lord Shushannu, may he reign forever". The rest if the runes were of a later date, describing Shushannu's actions in a poem.... at this point I knew Dartak's true nature. Dartak is not a free agent. He is an avatar - prehaps a willing avatar - of the dark god Shushannu... formerly the god of my people"

Skjorn took this in and looked to Ausinoe.

"If Durtak or Shushannu or whoever he is, is still here then that must be why the Orcs are on a warpath… we will need more than just what we have here… we need to get back to Odeklundr." Skjorn said in response to this revelation.

Ausinoe's face broke it's tradition of stoicness to warp into a mask of pain, sorrow, horror, and dread. It was the face of a witch watching the inquisition light the fire to burn her to ashes, the face of acknowledgement of dammnation. "You will need more than Odeklundr, Skjorn. Although it may not seem it, I am a warrior who has fought against this god all my life. Thousands of years ago he won the favor of my people, and closed a grip upon our souls stronger than the steel of any forge. We rebelled, and he sent upon us a curse, a plague, both in a literal and figurative sense. He wants our destruction... he has wrought HIGH FLAMING HELL upon the east. He will not be pacified..... no.... Odeklundr cannot be enough. My people have a poem of what he will bring upon this world, as he plans.... it rings in my ears as he approaches. Skjorn, Elaria... nay the world... must battle against a dark GOD."
in Ausinoe's head

into your streams

into your streets

into your drink

into your bread

upon your cattle

upon your sheep

upon the oxen in your field

until you break

until you yeild

I SEND THE SWARM

I SEND THE HOARD

"I am no fool foreigner, we need to return to Odeklundr to assemble an army and the south to Ebonhold and Al'Sadirhimina, this threat requires the attention of all, like in the Age of Mana, we will stop this or die trying." Skjorn replied.

"There is more." Ausinoe responded, a glimmer of hope rising within her chest. "To the east of here lays the Muruthani Unitary, my old home. We have battled Shushannu daily as a means for survival... he considered us his chosen people, but forsook us when we rebelled against him. For some reason we have been able to retain magic, and we have powerful weapons to be used against Shushannu. For example, an Umbrometer is a magical instrument that pinpoints the presence of darkness - whether it be in the form of orcs, the undead, or dartak. We could use it to find Dartak if he should be alive and battle shushannu directly. Furthermore, to the south are the Veshvem - they call themselves the Neravi - who may very well aid us with their fire magic. The east would be a great aid to the west in liberating the world of this evil." She said.

"I have heard of some southern elves who wish to find new lands, they have built ships and flown their dragons out to sea… we should find them!" Skjorn offered.

"That would be excellent. Furthermore my people have skycraft to live in the mountains: if need be we may even be able to smite the undead from high heaven..... but back on topic. I give my oath to remain with you and fight for this cause. I will share all of my knowledge and devote myself to the wellbeing of this world, as is my duty as an Ashaltum." Ausione smiled. Finally, after millenia, there was a chance, a REAL chance that the world may be free at least. She had dreamed of such a day from when she was very young, as all Murutha had. "But I must give you a dire warning before we go off to war. Shushannu's wrath upon my people has taken the form of a curse.... no, a plague. It is known as the shadow, and I posses it. It is EXTREMELY dangerous, as part of the same darkness of Dartak and the orcs lies in the host... and in me."

"I will to the best of my ability. All that I ask of those around my is to stay away from my blood. You will know when you see it: it will be black."
Suddenly something stabbed in her mind, something she'd forgotten after all of the talk of war and curses and mother. "Wait.... I've forgotten a detail of the past. When Skudi and I were banished by King Thror, we stayed a night in the same outpost you sheltered me and Cypherion in. There we saw an orc... and Skudi said his name was Gorgon. The orc told us that you were living on borrowed time and that they would take your life soon..."

Skjorn grew an animal like look as he heard the name, he stood in anger.

"GORGUN WILL SOON MEET HIS FATE!!! He most likely knows more about Durtaks whereabouts then we do, and that is probably why we have been hounded by his scouts! I long to meet my axe with his flesh!" Skjorn bellowed, "Forgive me, I know of Gorgun far better than anyone in Elaria…" Skjorn said as he relaxed and sat back down.

"Then it is good that I told you. Now, tell me of these wolfmen. Who are they?"

Skjorn smiled and looked distant.

"They are… good friends to have, they roamed Elaria long ago until they were accepted into Odeklundr by my ancestors. When Havgre told King Thror of dark magics he banished them… much like you and Skudi. That was long ago though, they roam the lands once again, protecting weary travelers and destroying the undead… do not have fear of them, for I think them to be of magic! Speak with Havgre, he has things to speak with you about before we make for Odeklundr." Skjorn explained, now looking to Ausinoe.

"Of course, Honorable Skjorn. And in retrospect, I thank you for sheltering me from the storm the first time we met. Is the general of Ebomhold here as well? If he is then we may have an easy time of winning Ebonhold's support."

Skjorn looked down.

"The general is… gone. Captured by orcs and slain by a particularily nasty one. We will have to bring this news to Ebonhold ourselves. Go now, Havgre awaits you." Skjorn said thinking of the slain General.

Ausinoe bowed and searched through the camp for Hagre, she found him by Han, and greeted him immidiataly. "Greeting, Havgre of the Gunnaruflr. Skjorn has bade me to speak with you on urgent matters."

"Very well, I imagine you have many questions." She wrapped her cloak around her as a shawl for warmth and kept pace besides the wolf man. Her analytical mind was already wondering what circumstances had brought a wolfman race into being, what culture they had, and the strength and purity of their Arapi.

"If I were not exiled..." she thought, "I would surely write of these peoples and bring this knowledge into the cannon..."

Havgre greeted his friends as he led Ausinoe off to the stream where Eimin once rested.

"I could smell your magic… child of the east. It has… darkness within it, but within you I see a light… mother moon has told me you would come." Havgre began to explain.

"Smell?" Ausione smiled. "I did not know that magic had a smell. But, yes, I do carry a darkness. Hell hath wrought me with a curse that I must take care not to spread, as my blood is it's path and gateway"
(be back in 15 min have to go get groceries)

Havgre smiled.

"Mother Moon has given us the form of the Wolf to hunt out darkness in the land, since before my time my people have sought out darkness, all magic gives off a distinct scent, even yours which is foreign and unfamiliar to my land." Havgre said.
