Darkness in Elaria [ACTUAL RP]

Skudi looked to Ausinoe.

"And what lands surrounded these mountains?" Skudi asked. He filled two bowls with dragon meat stew and handed one to Ausinoe.

"To the south were the Veshvem, a human kingdom separated by the Sakasim mountains. To the north were the Nangar, nomadic tribes who travelled the northern plains and raided the cities of old. To the northwest was the ancient 3aresh landbridge." Ausinoe pronounced the 3 in 3aresh as the arabic letter ghaiyn. "It was where we migrated from Mu to the mainland."

(So how do you pronounce 3aresh, sorry I can't do that letter on my iPod)
I guess I did do it cause its a number, I'm a jacka**! LMAO

(Sorry but that link didn't help me)

"And the tribes of the north, what were they like?" Skudi asked hoping there were people out there like his.

"The Nangar were nomadic herders, they were very warlike. The roamed the plains north of Encathan and Dholmun, raiding our caravans whenever they could." Ausinoe paused, a look of resentment spreading over her face. "They were savages. They had no literature, no art, nothing that a civilization SHOULD possess. however, they posed little threat until a warrior named Anesuras united them as one. Then, they laid seige to our cities. Dhomun was set ablaze and Encathan was literally cracked in half with earth magic. They drove us to the southern part of the river. That's where Shushannu came in. He was the one who saved us from anhilation. Even if it was unwise, we idolized him and pledged out allegance to him. His power allowed to to wipe the Nanger from the plains."

Skudi felt… offended.

"I do not like the way you speak of them, yes they attacked your people and raided your goods and that gives you all the right in the world to dislike them, but the way you describe them is… offensive, for they began the same as my kingdom began… were your people not savage in the beginning? You cannot downgrade people simply because of the way they live… maybe they thought of your kin as the savages? I'm not trying to anger you… your my friend, but maybe you should look at things from both sides?" Skudi said to Ausinoe as he ate his stew.

"I'm not saying that it was right to wipe out the Nangar, but that's what happened. The Murutha and the Nangar are sworn enemies. In Muruthani society we believe that all of humanity starts as savages, yes. But we tend to assign respect to other peoples based on their level of Arapi or nobility. I do not means this as a matter of blood, but as a presence of humanity and civilization. Odeklundr, for example, would be highly regarded by my people. You have a culture, morals, stories, a literature, a language, and knowledge of living peacefully and in harmony. The Nangar did not possess the same level of sophistication. That is part of what I mean when I call them savages. I suppose that the translation was faulty, but I keep it because they also committed brutality in their war. There are noble nomads on the plains, even noble raiders. They can be civilized and wise and moral. I simply say that the Nangar were not in part because they rejected learning and change and also because of their barbarianism in war... Entire cities were leveled. Feilds of men and women lay impaled. Encathan was cracked in half.... I cannot forget this. Only Shushannu has proved to be more cruel and brutal than the Nangar. I am sorry if this offends you, but the resentment I hold towards them is justified by their actions. If they had not attacked my people, instead of calling them savages I would have called them "saplings" or "unlearned ones". I dislike them only for the pain they have caused my people, like your people dislike the orcs for what they have done to you."

Skudi listened and took in her words.

"I… hate orcs with every fiber of my being, but I respect them, for their prowess in combat and stealth, orcs are warmongers and they're ways are brutal… you would not understand the way I feel, because truly the only difference between Odeklundr and orcs is that DAM*ED MOUNTAIN!! I'm sorry… I'm not hungry anymore… I think I will go and sleep, goodnight to you both and help yourselves to anything." Skudi excused himself as he stood up and went to lay down on one of the beds.

Ausinoe sat, stunned at Skudi's outburst. She assumed he was angry over being exiled from Odeklundr. A pang of guilt hit her hard. Had her conversation set him on? Probbably, but she refused to gloss over or hide her beliefs. She didn't want to speak of them anymore.

"Sheva, I'm going to meditate in another room. You should get some rest."

Ausinoe fell asleep slumped agaisnt the wall, feeling like a peice of sh*t.

(Well Skudi knows that southern dragons are valuable allies in battle, even if its only one, we'll just bring her along and hope Skjorn doesn't have a problem with it!)

(Okay, I'll PM Goddess of God)
Ausinoe awoke with a start. Morning had dawned and rescued her from another nightmare. All people infected with the shadow had nightmares from it. It was a natural part of the curse.

Skudi awoke early and smoked his pipe outside the outpost and at the mouth of the cave, watching the sunrise. It wasn't so be could see the beauty or majesty of it, but when it happened, because that was the time that they would leave.

Ausinoe assumed the three would be heading to the dead marsh, to rescue Skjorn. She gladly accepted the idea, as she owed Skjorn her life. However, the swamp was certainly a place of dark magic. She would have to keep herself calm and prevent contaminating others with her taint. The curse could not be spread, and the first step was to warn Skudi and Sheva of the danger. She arose and approached Skudi with her warning.

"Good morning."
(I was thinking we should get to the Nangar plains and force Ausinoe to stay put for a while)

The dragon was up and early far more awake then Sheva was. He yawned but it sounded more like a low raor. Sheva was moved by his tail, awaking her from her slumber. Her eyes stayed closed as she looked around,. Han moved his face in front of her's and opened his mouth. Fire began to well up as if he was going to burn her. Sheva felt the intense heat and had to open her eyes. When she saw the fire slowly crawling up it's throat she pushed his head away. "Oi so not a fun way to wake someone up."

(I thought the Nangar plains were in Ausinoe's lands?)

Skudi looked to Ausinoe, he felt bad about last night.

"I'm sorry for my outburst last night… I'm just frustrated is all…" Skudi apologized. "We need to get moving if we're going to catch up with Skjorn, do you remember if he traveled with anyone?" Skudi asked as he hit his pipe.

( Well, they need to contact the Murutha for aid. Why don't we find a way to go there?)

" He went with Cypherion, a general of Ebonhold..." Ausinoe was quiet for a while. "Listen, my friend. I need to speak on something serious, and since we are going into a place as tainted and dark as the dead marsh, now is a good time. I've mentioned that I am infected with the shadow before. You remember, yes?"

Skudi chuckled a little.

"I think I remember more than you just mentioning it!" Skudi said remembering the day before when the creature took over Ausinoe.

" I need to warn you of it's danger." Her face took on a grave tone. "The curse was unleashed by Shushannu on my people after we fortified the mountains of Asparas. Because he could no longer attack us directly, he began possessing our people. By doing this he could cause terror and destruction within us, even with our fortress city in the mountains." Ausinoe explained

"It is a vile and incurable disease. I was infected 5 years ago, and the only reason I am not an avatar today is because I was born with the Sain. It's a genetic immunity to the curse that allows my will to overpower Shushannu's. However I can still spread it. Even to you."
