Fantasy Cursed Island

The mound shrugged off Siege's cold about the same as the other one had with Roy's fire. It also managed to keep a decent grip on her hammer as she swung it around.

Roy was still evading the other mound, finding that fire was actually very ineffective. He could see that Siege's cold magic wasn't working well either, so he took hold of the golden staff and tried a lightning bolt. His magic sense told that was last thing he wanted to do, though it was a bit late, as he saw that the mound absorbed and benefited from the lightning.

Emilia summoned her hellwasp to help the hounds, hoping a bug would have some sort of advantage. "Is it just me, or is nothing working?"

"Son of a! FINE!", Siege switched the weapon back to axe and let the cutting edge do the work of freeing her weapon.

"Use your bombs, Roy!", Turac barked once he'd finally freed his mouth and flung the mound into the woods. It would probably come back later, but it freed the dragon of the group to help the others.

"What is going on?", Jalin called, standing back to back with Katsuo, "I can't tell where they are!"

"Oh, right." As he evaded the mound that was after him, Roy pulled up his bomb bag and retrieved one. He knew that fire, ice, and lightning didn't work, so he just wanted anything but those. Grabbing a force bomb, he activated and threw it before getting clear. As he predicted, the mound reeled from the burst and continued after him.

Katsuo had taken up a defensive position with his axe near Jalin since he couldn't locate the enemy instead of charging to fight. "Most are preoccupied with the others, but they seem resistant to attacks..."

So delivery of force worked! How did that help them, though? Roy was the only one that could use that kind of magic, they seemed near impervious to everything else!

"We need a plan!", Siege called as she hacked at the thing and tried not to get crushed in its vines.

“I’m still working on that!” Roy reached to try another bomb before he felt a breeze rush past him. He didn’t see anything when he looked, but the mound chasing him suddenly came to a stop, thrashing at some unseen entity and trying to grab it. That turned out to be bad move as whatever it is suddenly became cloaked in an acidic cloud. That was effective.

"That thing is back!", Jalin called as the acid cloud creature... didn't appear, but revealed its location with its attack.

"Noted!", the others called.

Roy watched as the creature ripped, tore, and burned its way through the mound. It tried to flee at one point, but couldn’t manage it and soon collapsed. With that mound down, the creature charged towards the two mounds fighting Emilia’s summons. As it ran, Roy could get a vague sense of its shape from how the cloud came from it. Quadruped, tail (possibly finned), wings, horns... Gods dammit. “It’s on our side! Focus on the mounds!” He turned his attention to Turac’s mounds, crawling back from the woods to rejoin the fight.

Siege was too focused on hacking at the stupid, stupid, giant plant that kept latching onto her axe, her limbs, her head, why wouldn't it just die?

Turac wheeled around, nearly crushing one of the town wagons as he turned and reared back with his ice breath. Ice may not hurt these creatures, but surely encasing it completely in ice would stop it entirely.

Roy tossed another force bomb to stagger the mound, making it an easy target for Turac's ice.

Between Emilia's summons and the acid creature, the next two mounds were dealt with before long, allowing them to assist Siege. The creature stayed back while the summons tried to get the mound off of Siege.

The already-injured mount shook, beginning to fall right as Turac covered the thing in ice. Four mounds disabled or killed, leaving just the one Siege was still hacking at like a mad woman.

The hellhounds joined in to bite at the mound, trying to divide its attention if nothing else. The wasp grabbed at it from above. The acid creature remained at a distance, as if it knew that charging in recklessly would hit Siege with acid as well as the mound.

Siege would have fallen back if not for how infuriated she was with the stupid, stupid plant that just wouldn't die! How many times did she have to hit it before it reacted like it was taking damage?

Roy watched for a bit before deciding to help out. Siege could handle a bit of force, right? Yeah. He pulled out a force bomb and threw it in, aiming for the little bit of ground between Siege and the mound.

Siege could handle a bit of force. Her father was a gigantic chimera, after all, and she was wearing full armor. What did happen was that she went in one direction, slamming into Turac, and the mound went reeling from the explosion.

Once Siege was clear of the mound, the acid creature jumped at the chance and pounced onto it to finish it off.

Roy looked to the last one, still frozen. He wondered if a good fireball or a bomb would just break it apart, but he was going to try until they were ready to deal with it, in case it didn't work.

Siege went limp as she collapsed into Turac's shell, while the last remaining moving mound fell to the acid ccreature.

"That just leaves," Turac looked around until he spotted the acid cloak. The creature wouldd not be gettin away this time! He reared back his head and spewed his ice breath onto the creature, intent on encasing it so they could figure out what to do with them.

The creature had just started running toward the frozen mound, but Turac's ice put a stop to that. The acid cloak was still active, so it wouldn't hold it forever, but for the moment it was contained. Roy looked over and sighed before walking over.

Satisfied the creature wouldn't be running off, Turac picked Siege up on the edge of his beak and set her down in the cart, turning his ring so he could tend to the acid creature with the others. "Jalin!"

"Yes?"

"We've subdued everything, get over here." The blood mage strolled over, tapping the ice with his cane.

"It did seem rather familiar," Turac agreed. Even if the acid and the camouflage were obscurin the shape, the ice contained it in an almost exact shape around the creature. A familiar hexapodal mutant with more weird features than had any business being on a single creature born naturally. "I swear, she was frozen in my lake."

"Well," Roy gestured to the ice. "We see how well that's working." Within the ice, the acid had melted away enough that the creature could move again, though it was still inside a box of ice. It looked around a bit before dropping the ice cloak. Without that or the invisibility, it was clear for everyone but Jalin to see that it was, indeed, Shuffle.

Turac facepalmed and did a head count, "Is there anyone else from our family that's gonna get involved, here?", he looked around "Raine?! You can come out now! Nyah!"

Roy shook his head. "I don't think they're the type. Besides, I talked to Raine through the mirrors. She's home, for sure. Let's let Shuffle out of there so she can explain herself."

Turac shook his head, "This is why she doesn't have decision-making privileges," he sighed. he reached down to pick up a stone and bashed the ice box open with it.

Shuffle glanced up at him before ducking as he smashed the ice. She blinked before shaking herself off and stretching out. She sat down and smiled at them all. "Hello."
