Fantasy Cursed Island

"Something like that," Siege grumbled. They'd have to clean and pack away the cookset, but with the Waterstone that should be pretty easy.

Roy nodded and focused on finishing off the last of his food. He was eager to get moving again, even if they didn't have a definite goal at the moment. It was better than sitting around, at least.

"Who's got the blue rock?", Siege asked as breakfast was concluded, "Let's clean shit up and get out of here."

“That would be me.” Roy spoke up as he stepped over to the cooking pot. He lifted his hands to call up a torrent of water around the pot to clean it out.

"Well," that was easy! "Nyah's gonna wish she had one of those!"

"Let's just load up," Turac said as he hitched the horse back up. "We've gotta get going if we're gonna get to Woodvale by nightfall!"

“Right.” Roy quickly wiped the pot down so it wouldn’t drip and get anything else wet before storing with the rest of their supplies. Emilia climbed into the back of the wagon after him while Nidia got up front again.

Siege jumped into the wagon as Jalin climbed in. he reached to take her arm but she just smacked his hand away.

"Arms and legs inside the ride," Turac repeated the instructions of yesterday, "At all times!"

Onward they went, rumbling down the dirt trade road to Woodvale! "What's the map, say?", Turac asked Nidia when he couldn't figure out where they were.

Nidia took a look at the map. "Ah... Hm..." She tilted her head. "There's not a lot of landmarks around here besides trees, but those don't stick out on the map or in our surroundings. If I had to guess by the way the road seems to curve... I think we've passed the border? Maybe?"

"So it is covered in woodland," Turac grinned, "You hear that, Siege?"

"I will jump out of this vehicle!"

"I will stop her," Jalin spoke up as the morning light filtering through the trees began to show more of the world around.

Roy smiled and shook his head before he flicked his ear as a sound caught his attention. Nidia could hear it better, being outside the wagon, and looked around to determine the source. Off to the side in the distance, screaming and yelling could be heard. A smaller path led that way, less used than the main road, but still wide enough for the wagon.

"Well, that's not good," Turac noted.

"Think we should help them?", Jalin asked.

"Book, go check it out," Turac stopped the cart and looked back at Sinach curled up on the lounging Emilia's chest.

"What?", Sinach didn't look like he'd heard that right, "You want me to go towards the screaming?"

Roy nodded. "People in peril would be grateful to their rescuers."

Nidia looked back at the others. "And helping them is the right thing to do anyway."

Sinach looked around at all the eyes on him. "FINE!" He fluttered his wings and lifted off of Emilia, "But if I get hurt my ghost will eat all of you!" He fluttered out of the wagon, flitting from tree to tree to work a path back in his head as he went towards the screaming.

Down the path, Sinach would come upon a village under attack by a group of about five decently large mounds of animated plant matter. Most of the people were running and hiding, but some tried to fight with no success.

Sinach took one look at the scene, at the massive mounds of animated plants, and decided that he'd not be sticking his paper neck out today! He darted back to the wagon, relayin an exaggerated story about a massive evil tree growing out of the ccenter of a town killing everyone, hoping that would dissuade them from getting involved.

It had the opposite effect on Siege, at least as she hefted her axe and grinned, "Good, I been wanting to kill something!"

Roy nodded. “We can handle a tree.”

Nidia looked at Turac. “Then it’s settled. Takes us down that road!”

"Ah, shit," Sinach looked terrified as he burrowed into the supplies to hide.

Turac turned the cart, but as soon as they were close enough to see that Sinach wasn't fully honest, the horse absolutely refused to go any further.

Roy was standing by then. Seeing that the horse wouldn’t move, he hopped out. “Our supplies won’t help in a fight anyway.”

Emilia and Nidia hopped to the ground as well.

Siege was already on the ground, strolling right ahead with her axe drawn as Turac secured the anchor to the wagon.

They may not have been trees, but they still seemed plant-like, so Emilia summoned a pair of hellhounds, commanding them to attack the plant-creatures.

Nidia let the others go ahead of her, playing her music to support them from behind.

Roy grabbed hold of his staves, starting off with a fireball to draw the creatures' attention away from the villagers.

Siege advanced to the shambling mounds, her axe an armor glowing as she decided now was a goo opportunity to test that mana source she'd gotten. The armor glowed an formed around her, more complete than she'd managed before, and crackling with electricity as her axe steamed in the air. Her strength bracelets were eager to strengthen her as her axe turned to a hammer, and she brought it down with enough force to make a small crater. "Hells yes!"

Turac, seeing the actual state of the village, made a mental note to punish Book for lying about the mounts as he turned his earring and brought his massive jaws down on one of the mounds. surprised at the resistance a plant could put up, so he decided to boil it like Nyah's collared greens, spewing his steam breath into the thing.

Jalin found it nearly impossible to identify the shambling mounds from the other large bulks of the town's wagons, damaged structures, and regular foilage, and being giant plants, he couldn't sense their blood, either! He was useless in this fight, he couln't help fight what he couldn't detect.

The mound beneath Siege's hammer reeled from the impact, but then it began grabbing onto her hammer, wrapping vines around the head of it.

The mound in Turac's mouth likewise started grabbing, taking little damage from the steam flowing over it.

Roy succeeded in grabbing the attention of one, but the flames hardly singed it as it lumbered towards him. He stepped back to try a large flame this time.

Emilia's hellhounds were likewise struggling against the remaining two. Their flames did little, and close attacks resulted in getting grabbed, which only made the fight harder.

Well, that wasn't going to do! Nothing ever just refused to take damage when Siege hit it with her hammer! "You little-" She poured mana from the crystal on her chest into the hammer, pouring cold magic into it as she thrashed to free her hammer and smash it to pieces!

Turac growled and chomped at the plant now clinging into his mouth as he thrashed his head, pulling it up by the roots as plant juices dripped down his maw.
