Fantasy Cursed Island

"We need a cart and supplies, right?", Sinach asked. "We might have to change currencies, for that." Being a trade hub, Sunset Port accepted international currencies, but as they went further inland, such trading hubs wouldn't be the norm, they'd have to get their money changed for this nation's currency.

"Right. We should do that first then. Maybe we should get Jalin as well so he's not waiting all this time."

As predicted, in the time the party had been wrangling Siege, searching for shops, and discussing, Jalin had made his way to the north gate and, for some reason, had put up a side show to add some coin to his pocket by juggling objects, balancing on top of his cane while juggling objects, and doing flips and other tricks, all while blindfolded. not that the blindfold affected his abilities. If he'd had some way to add fire he'd have probably made more much more coin than he did.

"I didn't know you trained a circus clown," Sinach whispered to Katsuo.

Katsuo's helmet, and the lack of flesh on his face underneath, kept him expressionless, but one could hear the deadpan in his voice, more so than usual. "I did not..."

Emilia smiled. "Nidia's gonna love to hear about this."

"Is he doing backflips?", Siege couldn't hear any of them, a la Nidia's spell, but she wasn't blind.

"Hey!", Sinach shouted, "Jalin!" The man's head snapped in the direction of the party as he had to recover a flip and landed a bit awkwardly.

"What?"

Roy spoke up. "Nidia had to stop by the apothecary to make some potions, so we're going do some currency exchange and check out the market while she does that."

"Good," Jalin reached over with his cane to hook the collection tin and stuff it inside his vest, making his way over to the others, "You came earlier than I expected."

"I have been taking action to ensure I have money to eat," Jalin crossed his arms, "What have you done?"

"They got drunk, Siege is deaf and hungover, Nidia's making a potion," Sinach shrugged, "What about you?"

"I negotiated with the captain."

"Yes, well," Jalin didn't seem phased, "I accomplished the goal."

"You got something done," Sinach smirked, "And it took all night, apparently."

Roy spoke up. "Alright, well, time consuming as his mystery methods may have been, he did accomplish the goal. Sort of. We don't have what we set to get, but we have a promise that we'll get it later. I'll say that's good enough."

"Hehe," Sinach giggled, "You're no fun." He fluttered off of Roy's horns to hitch a ride on Emilia's shoulder instead.

"Agreed," Jalin nodded. "What were you five intending to do, then, since we cannot leave without Nidia?"

“Well, first we need to make sure we’re using the common currency of this continent instead of our own, so we have to find a place to do that. Then we were planning to look around the market for anything else we might need.”

"I believe there is a bank, or this continent's approximation, somewhere in that direction," Jalin pointed with his cane, "There's a great deal of white magic there, anyway. Churches deal in currency as well." Evenn if they didn't do so directly.

Roy looked over and nodded. “Then we’ll check there first.” He turned and headed of, with Emilia guiding Siege after him.

Jalin sighed and nodded at Katsuo as they in turn followed, "They have been discussing this for some time, haven't they?"

As with almost all banks, it was nearly impossible to miss the general architecture of a building designed to keep money safe. It looked like a fortress.

Katsuo nodded. “A little while. Since Nidia stopped at the apothecary.”

Roy kept the lead as he headed into the building, glancing around inside for any indication of where to go.

Jalin sighed, "So Niudisa was right."

The part of the bank visitors could actually access seemed to be very small. A large part of the structure seemed dedicated to a large vault, around which those in the group that were casters could feel an immense and complex web of magics, far beyond what any of them were capable of. If Roy spent years trying to decipher it, he wouldn't have made a dent in all that time. This bank was secure. There were some offices near the back, in front of the vault, and their seemed to be at least two more floors based on how big the bulding looked form the outside. There were tellers set up behind a wicker-screened counter that blocked off a large portion of the ground floor.

"This is heavily enchanted," Sinach noted, looking around. His mouth was watering, all the paperwork smelled delicious. High quality paper, perfectly made uniform black ink, stamped neatly off of a printing press... "You gotta stop bringing me to buffets I can't eat at..."

Katsuo looked at Jalin. "About what?"

Roy glanced over at Sinach. "Well, the mightiest dragons have good self control, so I figured you'd be fine."

Jalin looked surprised, "She did not tell you?" Niudisa wasn't very talktative about the past, but she was pretty forthcoming with this groups' parents. "It seems to run in the family that they gossip and look for trouble where none otherwise exists."

Sinach didn't seem to hear Roy, or at least wasn't listening. On Emilia's shoulder, he almost seemed on the verge of going after all the 'food' around him. If Roy hadn't eaten in however many years Sinach had been stuck on that tightly packed shelf, he'd probably have a thing about food being dangled in front of him, too.

"This place is bright," Siege grumbled, "Too early for this."

"Well, I am not familiar with this nations currency practices, and even if I was," Jalin nodded towards the tellers, "I am fairly certain all the white magic in this place would set me on fire."

"Is there anything I can help you with?", a willowy elf woman asked, appearing out of seemingly nowhere. She had the sharp angular features and flaxen hair of a high elf, with eyes that shone with the excess mana high elves were born with. They made for natural mages, but this woman was dressed for business, with a badge on her lapel that read "Naela".

"Ah, that."

Roy looked over at the woman and gave a nod. "Ah, yes. We just arrived in port yesterday evening and would like to exchange our currency to that of this land."

"Of course," the elf smiled, "Right this way," she led Roy and the others towards one of the tellers, directing them all to stand within a square on the floor. That took some organizing, due in large part to how much of that space Emilia's abdomen took up. Naela nodded at the teller, who reached under the counter and fetched a small bell, ringing it. It rang very loudly and very sharply, before the floor they were standing on started to glow. A plate of magic formed underneath them, not unlike the Floating Disc spell Adran used to play with Emilia when she was small.

The plate lifted the party up, towards the ceiling, where a panel opened to another floor. This one was composed entirely of office space, although the vault itself took up a massive amount of space even on this floor. "The ground floor is where deposits and withdrawals are made," Naela explained, "As well as loans, this floor is for everything else." She looked over her shoulder at the party as she led them to her cubicle, "Can you... control your construct?", she asked, "Cleaning the carpet is expensive." Sinach was almost drooling.
