The Ferryman
Christian’s smile slowly faded when Del asked him why he lied. Christian averted his gaze. “Er.... you see, uh...” he said, trying to find the words he wanted. “I... never showed anyone... my demons. I’ve always hid them.. even from my parents,” Christian said. “Truth is... you’re the first person to ever see what my real powers are. Well.. I guess our class is gonna find out soon enough anyway but... they didn’t see what you saw. I was afraid because.. I didn’t want you to see that I was a monster.. or rather just monsters,” he said. “And I like you,” he blurted out without thought. His face began to burn up. “I think... you’re really nice, and stunning, and caring and a great person and you give me peace at mind and a whole bunch of other amazing stuff but... I didn’t want you to turn me away because of what my powers are...” Christian finally admitted. It really sucked to be here, spilling his guts to her. It made him feel vulnerable and that was terrifying but... it was the right thing to do and like he said... he owed it to her.
