Crisis Prelude

"What d'you mean? Just cause I spent my adult life in the doesn't mean I don't have an eye for beauty." He continued grumbling as he got up to deck. He was a bit on edge now, because of her warning, but eventually he began to relax. Huh. Maybe this is my vacation, he thought, staring at the sky.

 

[ValkyrieRose]

Scarlet finds herself attempting to sleep, but unable to. "Must be the rocking of this stupid boat." She grumbles "I thought you weren't suppsoed to get bothered by that kind of crap." She says.


After about an hour, and a milkshake later, Scarlet links. "Somethings here." She realizes, heading up on deck. A moment later there comes a loud slam as something hits the boat.

Victor was dozing when he was jostled out of his seat and onto the deck. At first he was confused, did the boat malfunction or something? But of course, it couldn't be that benign, and a green-and-silver sea serpent reared its head.


Victor ran below deck. He was not gonna try anything on that mongrel unless he had his spear.

 

[ValkyrieRose]

"...Leviathan." She said, surprised.. "What's a great sea dragon suddenly doing awake?" She asked in shock. She looked at it in caution, taking a step back. Most of the civilianns were already screaming and running below deck. "Be careful Vic, we can't give away who we are before we even reach Wutai!" She says, her hands cackling with eletricity.

"You kidding? I've got a spear, you bout to fry the thing, I'd our cover's pretty blown!" Victor jumped off the ship, sinking his spear into the serpent. It just screamed at him, so he yelled at Scarlet -


"HEY! LITTLE HELP! OI!"

 

[ValkyrieRose]

Scarlet nods. "Just leave it to me!" She says, doing an electric powered hump. "I hope that spear of yours can withstand more than a few lightning bolts!" She says. With a quick hand motion, she tosses a bolt of lightning, striking the spear and causing the beast to cackle with electricity. "And have another one!" She says throwing a few bolts at him in rapid sucession.


"There, that ought to weaken him... hes all yous!" She says with a laugh

(i was asleep.)


Victor waiting for the snake to throw him off. When it did, he let go of Leviathan, using it's own momentum to heave himself in the air. 3 seconds later, he brought all of that force to Leviathan's skull. He backflipped off of the thing to land next to Scarlet.


"Brilliant. What else you got?"

Scarlet was about to launch another seies of attacks wehen she paused, hearing a whisper. "Yes, I understand." She says. She holds out her hands, one on each side. The leviathan goes underwater as Scarlet begins muttring something.


After a short while, Leviathan reemerges, this time with a large wave at its back. Scarlet sets up a barrier. There comes a lot of rocking and jarring, but everyone is unharmed and not drowned. Scarlet kneels, spent. "Wutai people are incoming. We should -cough- go nder the decks."

"No kidding. What did you even do to yourself?" Victor lifts Scarlet to her feet, and starts nudging towards the belowdeck stairs. All while, three words race around his head. What just happened?


(thanks for the concern, but i'm fine now)

 

[ValkyrieRose]

"I heard that LEviathan was about to unleash a massive tidal wave, so i erected a shield... but one that strong too a lot of magic from me." She says "Leviathan is leaving, it seems. Im not sure why..." She says, coughng agin. "Anyway, we need to hide our gear, perhaps throuw t overboard...we cant take on an entire ship."

"There's always a bigger fish, Scarlet." Victor pulls out an ether, forcing it into Scarlet's hands. "Drink it. Now. I need you at full strength."


He starts pulling out the clothes he changed out of, stuffing them in the bag. He winces just a little as his 1st class uniform goes in. He holds the bag in front of her.


"Here's our worldly possessions, honey. Now what do we do? Swim to Wutai?

 

[ValkyrieRose]

"With Leviathan around? That's a death sentence!" She said, thinking as she drinks the ether. "No, i think we have to bluff our way through...or take out who we can and take their ship." She says, thinking. "I can feel the life energy of five Wutai renegades, but I don't know much more about that." She says. "It's your call."

 

[ultimus9]

"Well, I dunno about you..." Victor takes off his shoes and falls into bed.


"Sleeping people don't have time to commit espionage." he says.

 

[ValkyrieRose]

Scarlet smiles, plopping into bed next to him. "That's true, and we ARE supposed to be a couple." She laughs, closing her eyes, as she hears an inspection going on outside. "Be prepare in case something happens."

Victor doesn't relax the whole he hears the inspection. He even has his spear ready.


"You speak to the planet, don't you?" he asks.

 

[ValkyrieRose]

"That's right." She says. "Im an offset of a Cetra... an ancient." She admits. "I speak to the plaent, Espers, and the like." She says "It helps me survive... and its a good source of money too...they're here." She says.


As she says that, some footsteps stop outside their door, and Scarlet braces for the worst.

"So Reyna actually pulled it off. Well, that's explains a lot. All that magic stuff is from your Cetra ancestry." He stopped, hefting the spear, waiting for the knock on the door.

 

[ValkyrieRose]

"My mother..." She says, downfallen. "Shes..."


There comes a knock on the door, and two soliders enter. "YOu two, on your feet. brace for inspection" She says.

Victor clambers out of bed, letting the spear slide to the floor.


"What's going on? Who're you?" They ignore all his indignant questions, electing instead to just search around.


He glances at Scarlet, and mouths: "We're dead if they find that spear."

Scarlet took a breath, trying to calm her nerves...this was a bad situation. IT wouould only be a short minute before they would uncover Victor's spear.


"Why do you look so suspicious girl? Is something wrong?" One of the men aske.d


"Not at all." Scarlet said as the solider looked at him "Just thinking that it's how outside."


"Hey, whats this?" One of the men said. Scarlet put her hand on one of the mens faces, and it explodes. "Come on!" She says.

Victor lunged for his spear and impaled the second officer, then ran after Scarlet.


"Where're we even going to go?" he yelled after her. "We can't swim to Wutai!"

 

[ValkyrieRose]

Scarlet takes a breath ."Well staying here and getting killed isnt exactly an option!" She huffs. "That blast was controlled, so we shouldnt have people down our necks." She says. "WE can hide in another room and wait for their friends to show, or we can tak them by surprise."

Victor stopped.


"How d'you know where they are? Can you like sense their soul or something?"

 

[ValkyrieRose]

Scarlet nods. "I can sense their portion of the lifestream...it's complocated, but I can tell where they're at...why, do you have a plan?" She asked, hoping the anwser was 'yes'

Well, maybe, but it makes Hojo seem perfectly stable.


What if we summon Bahamut, and hitch a ride on him? Bypass everyone on the boat completely!
