“True, true.” Emily nodded. “Plus, everyone gets THOSE thoughts at some point or another.” Even She was guilty, but obviously wouldn’t say so.

Lavender definitely agreed with that. Being the sister to a 20 year old brother, it was easy for her to be introduced to those thoughts quite early. "For me, unfortunately, it just had to be early."

“That sucks.” Emily spoke in a more somber tone. “But in a way it’s better to be early than late, in my opinion.”

"Hell yeah it does," she muttered. "And I suppose there's truth in that." Better to be early and prepared than late, she supposed.

“But, that depends on the person. Some people probably would prefer to wait as long as possible to be exposed to that kind of stuff.” Emily remarked.

"That is true," she nodded. "My sister waited long after she was 18 to be exposed to that kind of stuff, and I'm forever grateful for that."

"I know what that's like," she replied. "Trust me. I can't count how many times I've been horrified by how fast kids learn...especially my siblings."

“It also seems like kids are learning younger and younger.” Emily sighed. “Remember when most of them were so innocent?” She laughed lightly. “I don’t. But I know there was a time.”

"God, I remember so well," she sighed gently. "My sister was 11 when we left Korea, and about a week of staying in America, she asked me what the number 69 meant. I was horrified as to exactly how she knew this."

“I can only imagine.” Emily said. “My worst fear would be over explaining and corrupting them even more. I’d feel both horrified and guilty.”

"Oh, that's a terrible experience," Lavender cringed. "When I had to do that once, my little ten year old sister wouldn't let go of my mom for days and always stayed away from my dad."

“Aww, that’s awful.” Emily said sympathetically. “I hope nothing bad happened between the two of them to make her that way.”

"Nothing happened that was too bad," she replied reassuringly. "It's just that my sister was on Instagram and found out how to make babies." She shuddered.

“And that is why kids should not be on the Internet. Exhibit A.” Emily spoke lightheartedly. “My dad didn’t let me use the internet or have a cellphone till last year.”

"Seriously?" she asked. "My dad only gave me a cellphone at eight years old so I wouldn't pester him in the future. I didn't go onto anything bad; I only really read online books and took care of my plants on this virtual flower shop."

“Yeah, My dad was always pretty overprotective over me. For good reason too.” Emily responded. “I never minded too much. Whenever I needed to go somewhere I got to borrow a flip phone where I could only call him.”

"I honestly wouldn't have pestered him," she said quietly. "The phone could barely fit in my hands. And honestly, I think it's good that your dad protected you. It sucks to learn about that stuff early."

“Oh believe me, life still found ways to teach me. Just because I didn’t have a cellphone doesn’t mean my friends didn’t.” Emily laughed bitterly.

"God, that must've sucked," she commented scornfully. "They still your friends?" Her hands had gone to pull a lighter from her pocket and flick it on and off, keeping it a distance away from Emily.

“Nope. Not a single one of them.” Emily said in a tone that showed she wasn’t bothered by it. “Not like I had many to begin with though.”

"Really?" Lavender said, grateful that Emily didn't seem to care. "I would've thought you were the type to have a bunch of friends. What you just described sounds like me."

“Well, most people get scared away when I talk about my interests, like anime and stuff.” Emily said. “But I don’t like pretending to be someone I’m not just to make friends, so I let them run if they choose.”
