No need to. He can't register anyone without their consent and I bet forging our signatures gets him kicked out of the Guild. Marcy hopes most of them can see that it's either a bluff or a really dumb, desperate move. (And, if it is a calculated bluff to apply pressure and spur them to reach a decision, she kind of respects him for that. Clever boy.)

Rella, on the other hand, ain't the sharpest spoon in the drawer. Doggo sees movement, doggo pounces. Gotta keep the pack together, lol.

I'm working on a post. Actually started it a few days ago, so it shouldn't take as long this time. (Actually, I'm gonna edit down most of what I wrote, in light of Rosaire's sudden move. Marcy was somewhat longwinded, but she can cut to the chase now.) Post should be done today.
if nothing else he could probably get the paperwork for said registration and come back to pass it onto the rest of the party. and getting some quests before everyone else steals them off the board would be rather nice

Made a small post. I think it'll help segway into some discussion about party registration.

So I gotta ask: is Rosaire's ability being Tosser an intentional invocation of British slang, or is that just a funny coincidence?

Edit: realized the official term is Thrower, but still...

ough, did that one way closer to bed time than i would have liked. if i mucked anything up lemme know and ill change it

Think we're close to reaching a resolution for this scene? As our party members have pretty much been decided and come to a general understanding of cooperation.

Aye, we're pretty deep in the weeds and definitely don't need to be, imo. Their individual personalities and personal hang-ups have made themselves apparent, so the scene has served its narative purpose, imo. (YMMV) Its other purposes (choosing a leader, choosing a party name, sorting out finances/living arrangements) probably doesn't need to be drawn out any further.

So, we (as in my dysfunctional ass group) may want to begin considering how to wrap this up in the OOC thread and top it off with an IC timeskip post where everyone has come to an agreement. A post something like this:

"After a few minutes, the group decided to [insert whatever financial/leadership arrangement we decided on in OOC here]. [Insert everyone's complaints / arguments here, so the dissenting members can still say 'see I told ya so' later on.] And then they lived happily every after." End scene. Fade to black.

What say you to that? GojiBean GojiBean Phayne Phayne Goonfire Goonfire ERode ERode Little_Red_Cassette Little_Red_Cassette

Salka doesn't have a new ship just yet so no staying there, but the first couple of quests probably won't warrant it.
Can you do a wrap up post to segue to the next scene then?

Like i said in my post Flower is happy to just go with the flow. She just happy to be part of a group again.

I think this opening scene has definitely served its purpose, and we're ready to move on.

So, I have no issues with a wrap-up post and a short time skip to a post-agreement where the new Leader receives the official approval document, stamped, of course, by the Guild, marking us as an official Party.

As for Party composition, I think everyone more or less agreed that one big "Party" is best. But it will be split into two teams whenever we're out doing Questing and Dungeon stuff and things.

We have the following members and Abilities:

Seirina - Assassin (front-line)
Salka - Dancer (support/back-line)
Grimm - Wardsman (support/back-line)
Flower - Shaman (support/back-line)
"Sir" Matteo/Martina - Swordswoman (front-line)
Luminita/"Nita" - Swordswoman (front-line)
Althea - Light Mage (support/back-line)
Wulfram - Bluntsman (front-line)
Rella - Fire Mage (support/back-line)
Marcelotte/"Marcy" - Earth Mage (support/back-line)
Cherreign - Water Mage (support/back-line)
Rosaire - Thrower (front-line)
Ersatz - Charmswoman (support/backline)

13 people in total. 8 support/back-line units, 5 front-line units.

Ideally, when it comes to Questing and/or Dungeon exploration/conquest, we would want as balanced a team as possible. So, from time to time and depending on the level of danger inherent in the Quest/Dungeon we're going for, the team might even decide to go all-in. But, that will be up to our characters to discuss and decide if and when the time comes. Tackling a higher Rank Dungeon alongside a higher Rank Party, for example, may warrant an "all hands on deck" approach for safety reasons, after all.

Anyway, the exact teams for Questing and such are flexible. We can either have the Leader use the power of their position and simply tell everyone who's in what team, or the Leader can ask "who wants X, and who wants Y?" if there's multiple things going on at once. If there's an imbalance of who wants to go where, the Leader can make an executive decision for the sake of keeping the teams as well-balanced as possible.

Anyone have any concerns about this arrangement so far? Thoughts? Additions? etc?

I think that's a way to keep things moving slowly, overall.

I personally think we can clarify more or change the areangement whenever the need arises.

Well, we have the seven led by Wulfram(?) and the six led by Salka. I'm curious as to how they become the mega party... Perhaps while registering, they bump into one another?

Problem is, the IC posting took a very differnt direction. So how do we reconcile that?

EDIT: what Goonfire Goonfire just said, heh.

But there's the problem: our group doesn't even HAVE an agreement yet. That's what I'm trying to rectify here in OOC. Who's our leader, what's our pay split, what's our living arrangement, what's our party name. All of that is up in the air right now.

I will say, the pay split is something we can probably work on in the background, but as for properly designating a leader and the two parties merging, it would be worth explaining.

On an unrelated note, I'd like to also extend the offer to introduce an alchemist later. He'd serve as a sort of "shop NPC(?)" who isn't present on quests, but makes healing/regenerative potions to ease the burden on white mages or give parties without a healer a fighting chance. He could also be a client, sending low- ranking parties to gather rare ingredients or defend/deliver a package.

Maybe our respective first operation starts independently, but something happens that leads to our paths crossing and deciding to make that a long term relationship?

If GojiBean GojiBean feels like they can plan around that.

To help our group reach a conculsion, I'll clarify Marcy's stance on the matter and what she's willing to agree to:
For leader, she is in support of Wulfram.

--

For party name, she doesn't care as long as it's not silly or jokey. She would defer to the leader on that.

--

For pay, she is currently proposing a 25-50-25 split, where that first 25% goes to a party coffer, everyone lives under one roof (her manor), at the cost of 150 silver per month, paid from the coffer. That coffer is also used for party supplies, such as travel, consumables, and maintenance, at the leader's discretion. 50% is guaranteed pay for everyone who participates. The final 25% is a bonus pot which can either be evenly distributed or unevenly distributed if anyone feels someone did exceptionally well or exceptionally poor. The group decides on that via vote/discussion, with Wulfram having final say if they cannot come to a consensus. (This also means that if Wulfram feels he deserves more as a leader, he can take the bonus every time... but it's probably not in his best interest to do that unless he has shown his worth to the others.)

If pressed, Marcy is willing to come down to 20-55-25 or 20-50-30, but would remind them that we don't have a healer or tank, so taking more money from the coffer means less healing potions and less of a safety net if we have to pay for medical care. In other words, if you limit what goes into the coffer you're more liekly to be on your own for gear, supplies, travel, etc, etc. Can't have your cake and eat it too. (Her previous party put 33% into the pot because they had a tank in full plate armor with a great shield. That stuff costs money to maintain. She also kept the house's pantry stocked and prepared group meals, so they didn't have to pay for food and such, though they could still go to a tavern or buy better food out-of-pocket, if they wished. At 25% or even 20%, I doubt we'd have the funds to do that consistently, especially on an F Rank income.)

If no one or not enough people take up her offer of living at the manor, she'll probably have to find tenants. That would take away the cozy feel of living with your party mates, but would provide some passive income... for her, not the rest of you, lol.

--

Regarding the size of our group, I second the proposal that we should just go with what has played out IC --two parties-- but circumstances bring them together later. Even though I voted for one big party, it just hasn't shaped up that way and I don't wanna be heavy-handed in making it happen.

Aite, guess I'd summarize Grimm's views.

Leader:
Out of those still in the running for leadership, Grimm is most supportive of Wulfram. He would have been more open to Rosaire as a leader, if the guild and their individual circumstances were not as dire as they presently are, so he is leaning towards someone who seems more serious and professional despite their lack of leadership as an adventurer. Knowing Rosaire's antics, there is the preconception that he could lead the party astray and there may not be a 3rd chance for them.

Of course if the two groups were to merge, his stance may change to one of the others.

Accommodation:
He currently rents a room. However it is merely a converted storage shed that is big enough for him, given his stature. He would not be against the idea of the party moving into Marcy's manor

Pay:
His stance I think is quite clear and is largely due to the unfair distribution he endured within his former party where he got the short end of the stick. No pun intended.
After the beast tamer (person he rents the shed from) left the party, Grimm was effectively the only non combatant providing support for the rest of the party, (1 supporter, 4 combatants) yet despite covering for multiple people his % of the rewards was significantly less than the fighters. He would reluctantly put up with the lower pay. Outnumbered and already taken advantage of, it was easy for them to make him the scapegoat, so not only was he paid less he was the one the party blamed when they failed. Equal pay = Equal treatment, at least that is what he wants to believe.

Standard Isekai trope where one character is taken advantage of by the rest of their party. Less pay, more headachge, ungrateful team mates.

The Party:
It does feel like rather then becoming 1 big party, we have split into two distinct groups. >.<. I'm not that fussed either way, but if we are still allowed to make 2nd characters, id be very tempted to make another for the other party ;x

I'm not against two distinct Parties. I even floated that idea earlier on before we got started and suggested I could make two IC Posting threads once they split. And if they cross paths we can come back to the main posting thread.

So, the idea is still open for discussion/consideration if we want to let the two Parties be their own thing.

Otherwise, it might be a bit forced, but we could always have the Guild refuse their individual Party requests and force a merger since they're all demotees and "can't be trusted" to operate in smaller groups (even if the groups are like 6-7 people, lol).

So, we have options.

I'm game for whatever everyone agrees would work best. I'm leaning towards the forced merger myself. But two distinct parties can definitely be done. We'll just need to keep in good communication about things as we go, which we've done a fairly good job of so far, I think.

Kind of like Flower, Althea is fine with just going along to get along at this point. (She's desperate, and also has a lengthy history of people in authority telling her that she isn't her skills aren't valuable, so she sees the lower pay support members get as the best she can expect.) She's already accepted that Salka will be the Leader, so absolutely no contest there.

I do like the idea of the forced merger, just for the inherent conflict of it - but we could also wait and have the Guild do that to them later? I don't know what you have in mind, Goji, but I could see it being something like... they have a higher-level quest, but no good parties available for it, so they think 'what if we throw this giant gaggle of F-ranks at it instead of a smaller, higher-ranked group'.

Splitting the groups up entirely would also be feasible, especially given the size of each; however, I feel like that will eventually have to change no matter what, if we all end up at the Undying Dungeon eventually.

Rosaire, of course, would obviously be voting for himself.

He's personally against the whole idea of the party living together under one of the party member's roofs from the getgo. Something something privacy, something something trust, all that kinda jazz. He'd generally push towards his own idea of 90% split and then 10% squirreled away for flexible party usage, or to be paid out if the party dissolves. Big proponent on individual responsibility and usage of money and all. From his general perspective, he can already tell that the party's full of fuck-ups, so he wants to leave enough space for people to figure if they actually want to stick around in the long-run. That's also why he claims that he ought to be the interim leader for the period of a month or three: Wulfram can take over later, but the dude's basically a newbie when it comes to the actual work of adventuring, so he may as well shadow Rosaire before jumping straight into running things.

In the absence of a proper healer, the general idea is that everyone should be responsible for their own health, or to work out on an individual basis whether they'd want to 'donate' money to purchase potions or healing items for, say, frontliners who'd use it the most. Ultimately though, it's F-rank, and he doesn't see the work involved to be something that would consistently require intense camaraderie that you'd need out of higher-rank Parties when they're doing pretty light work to begin with.

Essentially, Rosaire is big on "let's give everyone equally as much money as they can get while still maintaining the framework of a party, and lets allow them all to be responsible for the costs involved in being an adventurer individually, whether it be equipment, rent, or pleasure." If they don't vibe together, it doesn't hurt too much to step away and find another party. If they do vibe together, they can go on to make speeches of income distribution again in another three months, where there's some more trust built up between them and they all have a better idea of how each other function.
