Fantasy Code FERAL

Luness found herself growing bored of this mission while the boys tried their best to talk up their target and convince him that they were friendly people to talk to or whatever.

Resisting the urge to sigh out loud, Luness glanced about the area, her expression more than obvious to be a bored one. Luness had never been overly fond of politics and she sort of felt as if this was just a political mission with the teams trying to befriend some baddies.

Luckily and unluckily, the fire alarm system suddenly came on, disrupting the ever so boring mission for Luness.

Unluckily, this meant she wilted in size almost immediately, as her feathers clung to her small form now. This also meant that any of her fire abilities would be difficult to use while the ceiling continued to rain down on her.

Overhearing something attacking people in the club, Luness' eyes widened while her heart began to speed up. Even though Luness was designed to be able to see in the dark without a problem, the water kept getting in her eyes and so she had to continuously blink and shake her head a few times to get a good sight of anything.

Thanks to these struggles, it was difficult for Luness to see whatever the beast was.

As Alec rushed off to try and spot the beast or even help some of the people being attacked, Luness nodded at the instruction to help light the way for her team.

"Okay, everyone, stay close to one another and don't stray far! My light will not be that great while I'm soaking wet and water keeps raining down on me."

Closing her eyes to help herself focus, especially since unlike Leandra, Ash would have no resistance to her fire whatsoever and so Luness didn't want to accidentally burn the man.

After a moment or two passed, Luness' body then began to glow, as her faint light began to glow in the area about the team, faintly lighting the way, though it flickered quite a bit thanks to the water falling everywhere.

"This...is the best I can do, now move!"

Luness shouted this through gritted teeth, all of her focus going primarily to ensuring that the others could see, if only faintly.

At this rate, her lighting was more like that of a candle than anything else. The team would still struggle to see while their eyes tried to adjust in the darkness.

Leandra wisely kept her mouth shut while the others spoke, feeling more than out of place in the moment and feeling as if the others were doing a far better job than she herself could ever hope to.

As Beth spoke of their jobs while Simon did the hard work, Leandra felt herself tense at the mere idea and quickly hid it by taking a sip of her virgin drink. This was so stupid, having to sit here and pretend she was nothing other than some dainty woman. Ugh. Hopefully, Luness was having more fun with her assignment.

Hearing Beth hint that she had been young enough to join Simon that she hadn't even bonded with her companion yet, Leandra inwardly cringed. Was that actually a thing for girls that young to be 'bought'? Leandra felt awful to hear such a thing even being insinuated, but Marie-Lynn didn't even blink at the idea. Damn.

Having missed Simon's attempt to convey his concern for her, Leandra continued to absentmindedly sip at her drink while also reaching out to scratch Laohu under the chin a few times. Leandra hoped this mission would be over sooner rather than later.

Taking another sip of her drink to avoid making any faces to give away her distaste for Simon's supplier story, Leandra then put her glass back down before grabbing the cherry and absentmindedly swirling it about in her drink. This mission sucked.

Briefly, Leandra felt someone's eyes on her and looked up to see who it was, but whoever had been looking at her no longer was, leaving Leandra a tad confused.

Though, in this brief moment, Leandra realized she probably was doing a horrible job of acting like one of Simon's girls. Whoops. As per usual, she'd gotten lost in her own thoughts. Dang it.

Hearing Zoe's gleeful tone, Leandra almost immediately flinched, but stopped herself so she didn't give anything away. Wow, Zoe was quick to change personalities. Though, it came across both as amazing and slightly creepy to Leandra. Someone like that could be dangerously unpredictable at times.

When Zoe gave Simon a nickname, 'honey-bear', Leandra almost immediately smirked, as she noted that the nickname could be a fun way to tease Simon after this mission.

When Zoe gave her a sheepish smile, Leandra awkwardly let her smirk fade away before merely shrugging at Zoe. She really had no idea how else to react upon Zoe smiling at her like that.

Yet, not too long after Zoe spoke, the fire alarm suddenly went off in the club.

Leandra glanced around in bewilderment, having no idea who had pulled the fire alarm or why since there was clearly no fire, but soon the water began spewing out from the ceiling and Leandra gasped before worriedly looking about while club members seemed to be mostly irritated in the moment and not in any rush to leave quite yet.

Just as Leandra was standing up from her seat in disgust, she froze upon hearing the screams not too far from their group. Yet, before she had a chance to see what was happening beyond a blur of something, the lights went out and chaos ensued.

It wasn't hard to hear the terrified occupants fleeing the scene nor was it hard to hear the screams of people being attacked.

Leandra's heart raced inside, as she glanced about in terror before overhearing Alec on the comms.

Annoyingly enough, they were still with Marie-Lynn and Leandra couldn't speak over the comms and give themselves away just yet.

Whispering in a shaky tone, Leandra then said, "Laohu? Please stay near me. Don't try to be a hero or anything, just, please stay with me."

Falarion continued to squirm a bit in his seat, finding it hard to sit still for so long and finding it even harder to not speak up against the atrocities that everyone was so calmly discussing here. This was so wrong, why did everyone have to act as if it was okay!?

Aimlessly pawing at his seat, Falarion tried his best to act as if this was all normal, but he was having a really hard time compared to the others.

When Beth rubbed him behind the ears, Falarion relaxed a bit, but still looked at her with a pouty face. When would this interaction be over with?

Hearing Simon's mention of suppliers, Falarion instantly perked up, his ears sticking straight up while his eyes were slightly wide. Quickly ducking his head back down so Marie-Lynn hopefully didn't notice his reaction, Falarion then began anxiously pawing at his seat again.

Not too long after Zoe spoke up as well, the fire alarm system went off, resulting in Falarion's head jolting upright again and his ears flicking this way and that. Was there a fire in here?

Before Falarion could figure that out, the water shot out of the sprinkler system and his fur soon was clinging to his skin. Well, that's annoying.

On top of the fire alarm, though, the lights soon went off and then screams could be heard. Screams of fear...and screams of pain.

Instantly fearful, Falarion shoved his head against where he'd last seen Beth's shoulder, feeling his head bump into something and hoping it was still Beth there.

Falarion had no idea what was happening, but he wanted to make sure Beth felt safe, plus he wanted to feel safe because he was kind of freaking out internally here.

Outside, Manjano had just started on his dumplings when Kitsune came bounding out of the club with what appeared to be Jean-Marc's glasses in his mouth.

When Kitsune approached Manjano and Jimbo, briefly giving Jimbo some attitude for no apparent reason, Manjano abruptly snatched the glasses from the fox's mouth since Jimbo was busily eating away at his dinner.

Rude little critter, was all Manjano thought before Kitsune turned away and was making his way back to the club.

Shaking his head at the retreating fox, Manjano then glanced sideways at Jimbo and muttered, "I didn't know something so small could have such a big attitude."

Yet, not a moment too soon after he spoke, the fire alarm system started going off in the club.

Manjano glanced at the club in bewilderment and then stood from his seat in alarm when the power seemed to go off in the club while people cold be heard screaming in terror from within the club. Yet, nobody was exiting. What in the world was happening in there?

Frowning, Manjano then glanced sideways at Jimbo before looking back at the club. What should they do now?

Backstage and behind authorized personnel doors, Jean-Marc had just finished changing into his new attire when the fire alarm system went off and his new clothes were soon soaked with clothes.

"Are you freakin' kidding me!?"

An attendant nearby jumped after hearing Jean-Marc shout, but other than that, there was a deafening silence.

Frowning at this, Jean-Marc looked about before hearing an attendant shout nearby, "The power's down! I-I don't know why, but we can't manually turn it back on from here. Something must be wrong on the outside, not with the server."

Shaking his head at this, Jean-Marc was about to storm out backstage and ask his new 'friends' what was going on when he froze upon hearing screams of both terror and pain from within the club. What was happening out there?

Before he had the chance to ask, his two personal bodyguards were pushing him along to the hidden elevator that would take him downstairs to the basement where he'd be safe until they could figure things out.

Halting the guards briefly, Jean-Marc then shouted out, "Guards! Go into my club and figure out what the hell is happening in there! And stop it!"

Not a moment after he'd shouted this, Jean-Marc turned on his heels and entered the elevator with his personal guards before the doors shut and the elevator entrance looked like a normal wall once more.

As Jean-Marc descended to safety, about five armed guards came out from the authorized personnel entrance backstage and pushed past the team gathered there to enter the club itself.

With flashlights attached to their guns, the team formed a pentagon together and shone their flashlights about in the club, aiming to find whatever was causing the occupants out there to freak out so much.

Coming across a pool of blood, one of the guards looked down at it and gulped before quickly bringing his gun back upright again to try and find what was attacking people out here.

Simon:

Simon watched as MArie-Lynn began to shift through her purse for something after apologizing for Simon's untruthful bad luck. He watched as she produced a tablet and began to skim over something on it. Given her doissier, he knew something had to be on that tablet that might be of some sort of value to the mission.

As she stuck out her hand with a card, Simon leaned over the table and grabbed it but didn't have time to read it as an alarm began to scream from everywhere in the club before torrents of water began to rain down from above. Simon slipped the card into the inside pocket of his shirt and stood as MArie-Lynn did.

"My tailor will most certainly have my head for this now. Oh well, Ladies, perhaps we should take Miss. Lynn's advice and head for the exits?"

Simon began to look around for the nearest exit sign before the lights went out and everything went black. The signs for the exist still illuminated for just such a case, Simon looked back to see the soft glow of the tablet still illuminated and he knelt down and pulled Leandra, Zoe and Beth close so he could speak to them over the noise of the alarms.

"You three go find out whats going on. Help the others. Fie and I are going to get that tablet before we leave."

Simon didn't waste any time before he looked up to where he could feel the little monkey sitting on his shoulder.

"Fie, I'm going to knock over the table, hopefully, she will drop the tablet and then we can go. Keep it pointed up so it doesn't shine in our faces until we can get it turned off. Think you can do that buddy?"

When Fie was ready he turned back to where they had been sitting and placed his hands on the table and gave it a good push towards MArie-Lynn.

Jimbo:

Jimbo looked back out into the streets outside as Manjano followed him into the little street restaurant and sat down. He watched as he pointed ou the dumplings and Jimbo smiled. It was pretty easy for outsiders to order food pretty much anywhere here. Pictures decorated the menus, walls, the tables, pretty much any surface they could stick with pictures and Chinese description they could.

Before too long a man came back with a plate of steamed bamboo. Jimbo liked bamboo, the sugary taste, and the crunchy texture was second to none. HE understood why a panda ate nothing but the stuff, but also why they ended up so sluggish and fat. Jimbo scooped up the shaft of bamboo and bit off a sizable mouth full. He looked over to Manjano as he waited for his food. The guy was obviously a lot better off in a place like this as opposed to a club filled with people.

"To many people in one place if you ask me. Not only is it just crowded as hell, but an extreme hazard should something go wrong right?"

No sooner had the words left his mouth had a high pitched alarm noise begun to echo from the inside of the club into the outside streets. Jimbo immediately dropped his food and jumped from his seat. He began to scour the outside of the building looking for smoke but saw none. Before he could turn back to Manjano to gauge what they should do, the new fox recruit leapt out of the building and began to shake himself clean of what appeared to be water. Jimbo tilted his head as he approached with something in his mouth and soon realized it was the glasses. Seeing Manajno take the glasses, Jimbo gave him a smirk after his comment.

"Heh, you'd be surprised the bite small things can have. But hey, score one for the spit take right?"

Jimbo turned back to the building, if the alarm went off then something was going on and the team might need their help. Sure enough, within seconds Alec came over the coms for back up. Whatever was in there, Jimbo didn't like the sounds of it at all. With the lights out, Jimbo would be less than helpfull in the now soaking wet club. He wasn't too worried about Simon, the big guy could handle himself. But he had a feeling that Manajno might be worried about Falarion. Then Alec called out about civilians being attacked. Jimbo's expression became angry, and he signalled for Manjano to follow him. Looking around he saw Kitsune begin to head back tot he building so Jimbo called out to him.

"Kitsune, let's try this side door they threw me an Manjano out of."

Jimbo ran up to the door and tried to pull on it as hard as he could, but it was locked. He made a gruff noise of agitation and took a few stepps back. LEts see how well the door stood up again 200lbs. of solid muscle slamming against it. Jimbo ran at the door on all fours and got a good amount of speed built up before slamming his shoulder into the door. The door burst off its hinges with a nice thunk as it hit the ground and Jimbo winced at the shock for a moment. He nodded to the other two before he turned back to dark room.

"Kitsune, I can't see in there. Call out if something gets a little to close for comfort and I will make short work of it like I did the door.

Max:

Max smiled at Kazmir as he regaled him with the story of how he obtained Luness. It was quite fascinating to hear the man boast of his power and money that his family possessed. It made Max very interested in just who his family actually WAS. Before he could ask about it however, the roulette wheel began to spin and Max diverted his attention from the group for a moment to watch the game. When the ball finally stopped and landed on the number he had not called, Maz smiled and scoffed as he drained the last of his drink once again.

"Only if you count my luck with the tables tonight, my dear Kazmir. I however, seem to have run a different kind of luck tonight."

Max reached into his pocket of his jacket and pulled out a phone and a small black card. The phone he set on before his seat at the table, but the card he kept in his hand and stood so he could be at full standing height next to Kazmir. Within breathing distance of Kazmir, Max reached for the man's jacket and slid his hand into the inside pocket, a bit more sensual than most people would be as he slid his hand out slowly.

"If you wish for a more.....private.....conversation. There is my card. Give me a call sometime. I should be in the area until my business is concluded."

Max gave Kazmir a deviously handsome smile as he fixed his coat back. Suddenly the alarms began to ring, but Max did not seem surprised by sudden situation. Even when water began to pour down from up above onto his very nice coat he still merely sighed and began to pull at his now soaking wet attire as he looked over the group admiring Luness's light before turning towards the exit sign illuminated in the dark.

"It looks as if our fun tonight has come to an end. Until next time."

Max only directed the last part at Kazmir as he stepped over his crocodile friend and gave a sharp whistle. The crocodile slowly stood back up and lurched forwards behind Max as he made his way towards the exit. As Max walked away, the small head of a rat popped out of his jacket pocket and began to sniff the air.

Surgeo, keep me pointed in the right direction. Get us out of here before we get caught by that thing.

The fire alarms rang with a deafening loudness which frankly startled Zoe momentarily. She looked up and tried to shelter her hair and her buns from the incoming downpour but to no avail. She was truly frustrated - not only did her disguise get wet and soaked but she felt a rather uneasy feeling about all this. Somehow the alarms were triggered despite there being no sign of fire everywhere and that meant that it had to be planned by someone. As she was looking left and right the power suddenly went out and the lights ceased to gleam and the girl watched true chaos unfolding around them.

" Blast it." she cursed under her breath, turning her attention to Simon as he knelt down talking to them. This mission was spoiled by this nasty surprise so she needed not to play the role of the cute little girl anymore - they now had to make sure that everyone was all right.

She listened to the com as Alec came in describing how bad the situation actually was. She scoffed at the idea that a rogue creature entered a Rogue driven establishment - the irony was just too much and she could barely hold back her chuckle. Before leaving the table to wander off she nodded at Simon.

" Be careful. She is a devious one. " she stated the obvious then turned to Beth and Leandra " I will head into the main area and find somewhere we could hold the line. If somehow the others can restore the light and we can stand our ground we could perhaps even fight this best. "

Though she could not see the two girls clearly she stopped and looked into their eyes.

" Watch out you two - I trust in you to stay in one piece and to be clever. "

Hearing how Leandra was talking to Laohu Zoe now decided to take up her disguise one more time. When Marie-Lynn advised them to flee she jumped up and dashed into the main area, screaming. Once she made sure that they were not in earshot and that she was engulfed by the chaos she looked forward, focusing. In the utter darkness the brief flashes of phones were just enough to navigate the girl towards the main area where she looked around. She spotted the bar which seemed to serve a good shelter for her so she decided to head there to seek for a decent hideout. While she jumped into cover she tried to use her com to reach Alec.

" Alec this is Zoe, do you copy? " she asked, hearing nothing but static " Blast it, it must have gotten wet... "

Looking around she saw familiar silhouettes next to her and she took up a martial pose... but as she strained her eyes she recognized familiar faces in the darkness.

" Barry? Duik? " she asked in disbelief " How did you...? Where are the others? "

She quickly realized her folly in turning towards Barry and in the twilight she shook her head.

" Oh yes, right, sorry about that. We need to hold out for just a little longer here, I am certain that once Simon and the others got the info we need we can turn the tide of this battle... "

It was then when she spotted the wrapping around Barry's hand.

" You are injured! " she exclaimed " This is no good, it could easily be infected... we need to clean it.... "

An idea sprang into her mind as she searched around the bar. Surely enough she found a bottle of quite strong alcohol, handing it to the boy.

" Here... " she said " Strong alcohol should be able to clean the wound... though it will sting quite a bit. "

Eos tried to stay calm in the ensuing chaos. Though he could not see fari n the darkness he was glad that at least Luness was able to provide some dim light to follow. He tried to concentrate and contact Zoe but the screams and the destruction around him prevented the old stag from concentrating properly. Giving up on this plan he looked left and right in anxiety.

" We are wasting time here... " he groaned angrily. Hearing Alec on the com his first instinct was to dash towards him to help him out - but his eyes were far too weak in such dark environment, even with the faint light of Luness he was unable to see too much. He had no other choice but to take up a defensive posture - if he could not save the others elsewhere then he had to stay his ground here and now... he hoped that the lights would come back soon so that they could strike as one at the intruder.

Haku watched on as the roulette wheel spun. She looked towards Max from the corner of her eye. Her tongue darting back and forth. She had missed the initial protrusion of the rat in Max’s jacket. But the second time it came out she caught it, sensing the new addition. It was the same subtle change in the air that she sensed seconds before the lights went out. She didn’t know what it was, but she knew danger. She knew murderous intent, like an apex predator entering a hunting ground. She could taste it in the air, completely different from the booze and drug induced revelers celebrating the new year. Seconds later the fire alarm started going off, then the power, and then the sprinklers. The water dampened the smell a little but she knew it was there. She squeezed herself securely as Alec lurched forward, running with a purpose. Soon they reached the other group, Duik’s group. He stood fastened to Alec’s net throughout the entire interaction. In the darkness, Haku let her heat sense take over. “What was that??!” Haku hissed, her head moving from side to side in an attempt to pick up any heat signatures sneaking up on them. She sent mental pictures of their location to Rin. Allowing him to see figure out where they were and come for backup. They had no weapons save for Haku’s poison, a bit of a backup could help in case whatever it was came back. “Let’s go, get up Alec.” She coached him as the cellphone light swept the area.

Rin was mildly amused by the whole scenario. They were finally getting somewhere, somewhere useful. Then chaos erupted. He watched as just a minute before the lights went out Max handed his card to Ash. He breathed a sigh of relief, looks like it wasn’t all a waste. He didn’t miss the man putting his cellphone down either, he waited with bated breath as he hurried off. Expecting him to scoop the phone up on his way out. He seemed more concerned with getting from under the sprinklers, and soon out of the dark. As the croc made its way he stepped in quick and grabbed up the phone. He nodded as Alec ran off and he turned to the rest of the group. “Lun, thanks for the light, see if you can guide them towards the exit doors.” He said after hearing the screams. “I’m going after Dante. I can find my way in the dark. Let’s go!” He commanded. His tone left no room for arguments as he rushed away from the group. He could see where Haku’s vision was leading him and he made his way. He tripped over a few chairs, but he found Alec’s lone cellphone light towards the back of the club. He reached Alec as he ran after something. Probably whatever was attacking people. Then with a swift motion unbuckled his belt and whipped it out. A flick of his wrist and the supple leather belt hummed and straightened into the black Katana he had gotten from Nigel. “Did you see what it was?” He asked as he tried to look around at the overturned furniture. "Where are the others?"

Raven/Kitsune

Kitsune vaulted back to the club, but the door suddenly closed before he could re-enter. He skidded to a stop in front of it, raised up on his hindquarters and placed his front paws on the door. The foxes ears stood forward and erect as he sniffed at the door. Sounds of chaos from within the club weren't unexpected – it was raining water and fire-retardant on everyone after all – but the sudden scream pierced the cacophony.

"Captain!" the fox shrieked as his ears fell flat against his head and his tail dropped. He cursed his ill-fortune for not having opposable thumbs that would work the doorknob. He scratched at the door by the lock to no avail. He only moved aside as Jimbo arrived and tried the door only to find it locked.

Kitsune stood side as the gorilla charged the door. Without hesitation, he darted into the blackness barely even registering Jimbo's words. I have to get to her, he thought in a near panic. She needs me!

The darkness greatly reduced Kitsune's speed. Normally, his senses would easily compensate for it, but with the sprinklers dousing everything and the terror filled screams of the patrons trying to escape whatever was happening, it was almost too much.

Several people had their cell phones lit up and the small bits of light danced a myriad of chaotic patterns within the club. Carefully, Kitsune picked his way back through the throng, not caring so much for Jimbo's ability to follow. He had to get to Raven. He just had to!

@zCrookedz @Lioness075

* * *

When the club plunged into darkness, Raven instinctively reached for the gun holstered beneath her coat. The .357 revolver was her favorite and had never let her down before. Even during her deployments in the Middle East, she carried one as she never trusted the automatics not to jam. The simplicity of the revolver allowed her to focus on the immediate threat and not worry about whether or not her firearm would properly function.

The fire alarm continued its blaring as the sprinklers incessantly rained gallons upon gallons of water and retardant down on them. The muck had started to pool along the floor, true to Raven's prediction, and soon would be ankle deep on her.

Raven crouched but kept the weapon holstered. She tried to pierce the darkness with her eyes and ears, but it was just too dark. Her head spun in the direction that she recalled Jean-Marc had gone and saw several people with light from their cell phones heading away. She took several steps toward them when her attention was captured from the man's scream.

She dropped to a knee and drew the revolver in a single, smooth action as she turned back toward the sound. All hell suddenly broke loose from the scream but damned if Raven could find the source. Regardless, it had come from deep within the club so she started to make her way toward it.

Damn fox, she thought, where the hell are you? I can't see a damn thing in here.

@AnyoneWhoHappensToBeNearRaven

Manjano made a face the minute he took the glasses from Kitsune, as Jimbo made the spit take joke while Manjano quickly grabbed a cloth napkin and wrapped up the glasses in it. Ugh.

Tucking away the wrapped glasses in his backpack, Manjano then returned his focus to the now broken down door just in time to see Kitsune sprint inside and leave both Jimbo and Manjano without a way to see while inside of the casino. It wasn't like they wanted to check on their companions either, right?

Scowling at the selfish behavior, Manjano then shook his head and took a step towards the opening to see if there was any lighting on inside only to hear screaming and shouting nearing the opening.

Immediately feeling uneasy, Manjano took a step back and then dove to the side, as the crowd of club occupants came rushing out all at once, several with blood stains on their clothes and a few even limping or holding arms to their chests.

It was complete disarray and Manjano could only partially sit up with his elbow propped, as he watched all of the people and companions exit the club in absolute terror.

Seeing the disheveled attire on the people, the bloodstains, the injuries all just brought fear to Manjano's mind, as he wondered where the hell Falarion was in there. Not to mention Leandra and Luness. Was anyone on their team injured like these other people and companions?

Amidst the fleeing occupants, time seemed to slow, as Manjano saw a man running out of the club holding a dog companion to his chest and crying, as the dog seemed to be bleeding far too much for it to even have a chance of surviving.

For a second, Manjano envisioned the dog as Falarion and his heart went to his throat before he blinked and Falarion disappeared from his vision. Dammit, where was Falarion and the rest of their team?

Scrambling back to his feet just as the remaining occupants exited, Manjano then peeked inside the nearly vacant club to see a few scattered light sources here and there. That meant the team was probably still inside.

Seeing a glow not too far away, Manjano squinted and then recognized Luness perched on Ash's shoulder. The casino team, surely they noticed the new exit, right?

Uncertain of what exactly was happening in the club, Manjano glanced back at Jimbo and shrugged, as he wasn't entirely sure if they should try stumbling about in the casino and give anyone's position away in the process.

Unbeknownst to Manjano, though, was the fact that the beast had been going after all of the fleeing occupants...which meant it was nearby.

Duik followed Barry down to the light room, but when he saw the state of the box he drew in a breath through his sharp teeth.

"Dude that's like...beyond wrecked...Hey careful!" he cried as Barry managed to slash his hand on the jagged metal.

"I hope you had your tetanus shot." He added, trying to be funny to mask how scared he really was. As Barry took off Duik moved to follow, then paused.

"I bet you there's a backup generator somewhere..." Instead of following Barry out to the bar Duik hung back when they got to the stage. The light from the exit sign dully flashing gave him enough to see by. He made his way to the lighting rigs on the other side of the stage. Just then there was an almighty crash and Duik heard a familiar voice.

"Jimbo! Bro! Is that you?" He stumbled his way to the ape. many of the people had escaped through the door that had been broken down, but still others were pinned against another exit door, hopelessly afraid of the creature that hunted them in the dark.

"I'm gonna try and find a backup power source, Jimbo, there's some kind of monster out there..."

On Haku's command Alec struggled to stand, mindful of Rin coming up beside him.

"Whatever it is," he panted, "its big...and its pissed off." Alec gently unwound the viper from his neck and handed her back to Rin. "I don't know where they are...I ran off like an idiot." The close brush he had had with the creature made him reflect seriously on that choice.

"We need to distract it."

Just then Jean-Marc's guards appeared, flashing lights about the open space. Several times the lights only caught flashes of the creature as it vanished further into the gloom. Alec estimated it was the size of a bear at least, but it moved so fast be could barely make out what it looked like.

He did catch a glimpse of Raven and moved the few paces to close the distance between them, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"Don't freak out! Its me, Alec." He gestured to Rin behind him. "We should stay together."

But before he could say anything else there were gun shots and more screams...behind them! Jean-Marc's guards were being attacked. One it seemed had been brought down already. Suddenly the creature stopped, its eyes caught the light and reflected red. Alec could make out a set of long, razor-sharp teeth.

Without warning the creature lunged at them, roaring its anger and preparing one massive clawed-paw for a blow.

Barry stopped just at the bar when a familiar voice pierced the alarm and screams in the building. [Huh? Oh it's Zoe] He thought to himself. It was an unexpected meet up but one that he didn't mind. From what he remembered from their ball throwing, she was pretty strong and able to focus well. When he came closer and managed to see her with random phone lights flashing dimly at them. He was curious when she leaned over the bar only for her to get a bottle. He nodded at her and unscrewed the bottle as fast as he could. Unwrapping the scarf, he gritted his teeth as he tilted the bottle. It stung to high heavens. He gasped and released the bottle, letting it shatter to the ground. His hand did feel better through the warm tingling pain. He would have to thank Zoe later for that. He looked down at the sparkling bits of the bottle on the floor. He wished the alarm was off so they could at least hear whatever it was. When the guards came down flashing their lights, Barry could only catch the small glimpses of the creature. It seemed big from what he could tell.

The guards started to get attacked. The fell very quickly but in the darkness, Barry could not see the end result luckily. He jumped behind the counter along with Zoe. Reaching for a few bottles. He knew the general area of the beast. He handed Zoe some as well. The beast let out a roar like it was about to dine on some prey. [
hope this rouge has cushy feet...] He thought as he started chucking glass to shatter on the floor. With any luck, the beast would be slowed. The throbbing pain of Barry's hand was enough to keep him from thinking about the possibility of it going after them next. All he had was a knife and ball on him now.

Ash kept his calm through all of this even when the alarms went off, he was glad he made some progress and obtained Max's card (and seeing Rin get the guys phone was an added bonus). However the moment he didn't need to be smooth and everything his eyes started to dart everywhere as he did what he could to understand the situation. The little light Luness produced was very useful however it wasn't as much as he would like. "What's going on." He muttered staying in his spot for a moment before he started to move as he began to under stand what was going on. He started to make his way to the front of the place just as he heard the doors crashing down creating an exit for anyone in the casino area. He didn't know who did it but from the crashing sound and the direction it came from...well he truly hoped it was the doors and not something else.

When the screams entered his ears as well as the gunshots Ash jumped a bit in surprise. "That can't be good...." He whispered as he looked over at the people that were screaming their heads off and panicking like no tomorrow. At this rate whatever those men were shooting at won't be the only causality if these people kept up the panicking. Narrowing his eyes he started to walk to where he heard the loud crash and soon enough even with all the heavy rain he found the exit. Seeing this he nodded and taking off his jacket he held it over Luness giving her some cover from the rain. "I don't want to shout because of whatever is going on may come to us... But I don't think these people will hear me otherwise" With that he took a calm breath before he started to shout. "Stop panicking!! People make your way to the phoenix! We are standing in front of the exit! Come over here so you can get out of this mess!" he shouted out his eyes moving to where he heard the gun shots. 'Come on people please have the sense to get a little quiet and put some oomph in your step.' He thought unable to see the others that had been separated from him.

Fie had crawled close to Simon doing everything he could to get away from the sprinkers but sadly he still got wet. Looking up at him he nodded. "Stealing!? Yesha! I wanna do that even if it means I have to get wet!" The monkey chimed. He still detested the fact that he was getting wet but he knew he could bottle up that hate if it meant he could be useful in someway! He watched Simon and waited quietly, the moment the table was up Fie was at work. He hopped on one of the legs of the table before grabbing the tablet and ripping it full force out of the women's hand. He held the tablet close to his body and with that turned to jump away.

Grinning, Xiao Hui winked at Ash, "Are you testing my professionalism, Ash? The last bar you went to probably isn't as nearly up to par as the Black Dragon, no? Plus, they didn't have me." She said slyly, letting the lie roll off the tip of her tongue as she suppressed the urge to want to take back those words she had said. Xiao Hui felt shameful and disgusted for uttering such words. Glad for the attention to be off of her, seeing that Mr. Long didn't seem interested in her as all, Xiao Hui internally cheered, however, that only made their work that much harder. He didn't seem like the type to be interested in someone quite easily, especially when it came to the opposite sex. Perhaps she should have disguised herself as a male, then again, he would probably know right off the bat. However, hearing BB in her ears, Xiao Hui smiled at the hummingbird, when she nuzzled her neck in affection. "BB, how about I get you one of those drinks later on, after this mission? Virgin, of course." She said, whispering to her companion. If she had to be honest, having BB by her side definitely lightened up the mood as she didn't make her feel lonely in this crowded place, it felt nice to have an energetic friend next to her. However, at hearing Luness' voice, Xiao Hui smiled at her warmly, "I should have, shouldn't I? That would definitely have made a spectacle and showed off how marvelous you are." At hearing Ash winning the bet, Xiao Hui high-fived BB gently, squealing in delight as Eos praised Ash as well. Smiling as the others got their drinks one by one, however, when Rin pulled a random girl next to her, Xiao Hui blinked slightly, tilting her head. At hearing Rin's cheery voice, Xiao Hui laughed quietly as she looked towards the stunned girl, "Drink up, darling there's more to where that came from. Hm . . since Rin said to be good to you, I guess I'll have to." Xiao Hui said, shrugging her shoulders before saying, "Call me May, I don't know how many times I urged him to call me that, but no, he decides to call me 'Maylee'. Men." She said, rolling her eyes as she glanced over towards Maia and Ahmose. "Come and meet my friend, darling." She said, dragging the confused woman over as she stood next to Maia, "Hi, love," Xiao Hui greeted her, "meet my entertainment for the night. It seems William (Rin) wants me to be nice to her." She said shrugging her shoulders before eyeing Maia, "Any thoughts in mind?" However, eyeing Rin's action as he wrapped his arms around Alec's waist, she resisted the urge to choke on her drink. But, at hearing Alec's reaction and acting, he made it much more believable than she would have that. But, was it just an act? Or was it true? Xiao Hui was definitely, utterly confused. Nevertheless, Xiao Hui kept up with the act and continued to chatter with the random stranger that was pulled in with her. At hearing new music and a very familiar beat, Xiao Hui's eyes lit up as she looked to see Alec's reaction. Right then, she knew who it was: Duirk. Grinning, Xiao Hui cheered on the music as she danced around with the stranger and Maia, if she wanted to join in for the time being. However, at the sound of the fire alarm echoing through the building and the sprinklers showering everyone, Xiao Hui stopped dancing and soon enough, the lights went out. "BB?" She called out in a soft whisper, "Stay on my shoulders at all cost, okay?" Feeling a breeze pass by her, Xiao Hui was confused, wondering who that was, it surely wasn't the girl and it wasn't Maia. She couldn't see anything in the dark! Reaching for her phone, Xiao Hui frowned, realizing she didn't bring it only to hear in the comms the dilemma Alec had just said to them. Her breathe caught her throat as she tried not to lose her balance. If they didn't get out now, all of them would be slaughtered! She wanted to help Alec, however, she would be useless if she didn't see anything, thankfully, Luness was able to provide some sort of faint light to guide them to an exit. What was the beast that was killing the people? Why is it angry? If it's not a Rogue, what was it? Why here? It's the New Years...? Unless? So many questions ran through her mind as she tried to keep up with her teammates. At this moment, she just hoped that the others were able to get viable information that they needed from the target and at the same time, get to a safe place.

Laohu, on the other hand, had been sitting back with Leandra, seeing her bored yet uncomfortable expression as he allowed her to scratch under his skin a few times. As long as he didn't need to speak and he was by Lea, that's all that mattered, seemed simple enough. However, hearing the topic of discussion from Simon, Beth, and Zoe with Marie-Lynn had made him angered at the thought of human slaves and trafficking, he wanted to rip the woman's head off if he could. Soon, before he could do something he could regret, the fire alarm and sprinklers came on as the lights went out. Hearing screams of terror and Alec over the comms, Laohu gritted his teeth as he heard Lea's quivering voice, speaking gruffly and protectively, he nodded, though knew she couldn't see it,
"Of course, grab onto my fur, and if need be, sit on my back." However, at hearing Simon's orders, Laohu nodded in response, "Be careful, Simon. Your orders, Lea, where should we go? To the exit signs? It's clear as day to see, but we must hurry." He said hastily, looking up towards Zoe, hearing her voice as she went off on her own and soon he tried to mindlink with Xiao Hui, "Hui! Can you hear me? Where are you?" However, he couldn't hear anything as he nudged against Lea, "We're getting you out of here, no ands, ifs, and buts." Turning around to see if he can sniff out the maned-wolf, Laohu walked carefully over towards them with Lea closely next to him, "Fally, Beth, we need to leave, now." Soon, his ears perked as he heard Ash's voice as he squinted, seeing the faint light radiating off of Luness as he urged his teammates, "Head towards Lune."

Maia Asim

There was a problem with working with new Agents; you never knew what was authentic and what was an act.

Take this Chinese girl, for example. Xiao Hui seemed quiet, maybe even demure on their first meeting outside the casino. As proper and sober as any well-bred Chinese girl Maia had ever met. And yet now, the woman seemed utterly different and much friendlier with the party girl Rin had brought to the table.

"Lots of ways to be nice," Maia said agreeably, winking at the stunned girl with Xiao. "Depends on what you lot are in the mood for. As for me, I fancy a drink for starters and let's see from there."

"'They ask Thee concerning Wine and Gambling, Say: In them is great sin, and some profit, for men; but the sin is greater than the profit'," Ahmose intoned nearby. The snow leopard reclined near the bar, near Max, looking indolent. "Isn't that how it goes?"

"Shut it," Maia hissed at her.

"Worst Muslim ever."

"Oh look at who's talking. As much time as you spend with your nose in the Bible, you ought to be a priest yourself only what Christian church would have you? Nutter."

Ahmose chuffed, an amused sound, as Maia took the other girl's arm, sandwiching her between herself and Xiao. Even as the pair entertained the other girl, Maia let Xiao take the lead in dancing. As for herself, the British Agent never let Max drift too far from her. She was supposed to play his bodyguard after all and Mr. Long was many things; harmless was likely not one of those things.

@crucialstar

---

When the sprinklers went off, Maia immediately went on alert. A genuine fire? Unlikely. Not on New Years. An accident? Possibly. If it was deliberate, it implied other parties in play. Or possibly hers. After all, her team was one of several. Though it was a little hard to imagine how badly someone else's mission must have gone that pulling a fire alarm and making a spectacle out of all this was the smart play.

Ash didn't seem inclined to make an immediate move so she didn't either. He was the important one, she was playing bodyguard and just because the casino had gone to hell didn't mean she'd abandon her cover. If anything, this was an opportunity for them to sell the play Ash and Rin were plainly fishing for.

Then the lights went out.

Alec's comment about staying together brought out a snort of amusement from her. Still, she flashed the man a smile in the darkness and said "Keep everyone together? I'll be surprised if people don't swan off in the dark to take advantage of the situation."

That's when the scream cut out over the crowd.

With Alec volunteering to investigate the situation, Maia's unwritten esteem for her fellow Agent ticked up a couple of boxes. Brave man to go towards trouble rather than away from it. As for her, there was still some slim possibility they might salvage the mission. Discarding the pretense at being a subtle guard, Maia instead drew a 9mm from her purse and pointed it towards the ground as she also pulled out her own smartphone and flicked the flashlight option on. With a deft motion, the British Agent positioned the phone over the top of the pistol's barrel, giving her a roughly line-of-sight firing solution on anything threatening that came their way.

"Out!" she called out to the rest of her group. "Ahmose, you're on point, right? Sniff us to the exit my good woman." The Phoenix's light was a godsend at least, though it also made them a visible target. At least it was dim enough not to entirely ruin her night sight.

For all the good that did. Their target decided to take his own exit. Take him now?

When Alec started screaming for backup, Maia swore "Bloody hell" and made for his last known location. They found the black marketeer once, they could do so again. There was no bringing back the dead, though.

---

Maia arrived on the scene just as the beast, whatever it was, tore into the handful of guards sent to stop it. A Rogue? Going rogue in an institution used by the Rogues according to intel? She'd laugh if there weren't people dying right now.

"Right. Ahmose, tag team."

The Egyptian Brit heard glass breaking on the floor and knocked over a nearby table, dropping it in front of her to provide cover. Her snow leopard flanked out to the right, a familiar presence that was more sensed than seen after all these years. A flash of fang and claws and she opened fire. One round. Two.

And then something massive hit her table and broke right through it.

Maia hurled herself backwards, rolling back up into a crouch. She managed to get the pistol up and squeezed a round off before something took the gun right out of her hand, almost removing the hand with it. The Agent lunged to the side and skidded across the floor, crying out as she ran over glass shrapnel that'd skittered out of Barry's original scatter zone. She finished with a roll and came up on one knee, squinting in the relative dark lit by the hazy screen glow of nearby smartphones. Including her own, dropped when that beast had knocked her gun aside.

A black blur met a white blur and Maia felt as much as heard Ahmose streak by the murderous animal. The snow leopard lacked the weight to really handle something that big. But she had sharp claws, deadly speed and years of training to use both to full effect. Swift gashes rent the monster's fur, maybe drawing blood. Certainly drawing attention.

Giving Maia the chance to scramble for her pistol just as a dancing flashlight beam from a smartphone lit up where it lay on the floor. The Agent seized it just as the rampaging beast scored a glancing rake across Ahmose's hindquarters. Glaring at the danger to her bond companion's life, Maia gripped her 9mm with both hands, aimed and fired squarely into the mass of the monster.

At which point it backhanded a table end over end, landing it squarely across her back. Pinning her.

Real alarm spiked through Maia as she scrambled to overturn it, unfortunately trapped on her stomach and lacking the leverage in the sprinkler-slicked, glass speckled floor to get it off of her unaided.

"Tosser!" she roared at the top of her lungs.

Chaos.

Bael was trying to orient himself, but in the dark, soaked and surrounded by crashing and yelling, he couldn't think what to do. "Cedar!" He yelled. He couldn't tell where the bear was though, and his yell didn't seem to draw him. The boy grimaced, then decided to do what he was best at — help others. He began guiding guests out as well Ashe could, yelling for someone to call the police when he got out. Perhaps no one was listening though.

Bael?

Cedar, what's happening?

I don't know. When we get to safety, check out Barry's hand, will you? He cut it. Zoe had to use alcohol to disinfect it.

Drinking alcohol!?

Yes.

But if it's too weak it won't do anything! If it's too strong it'll—

—Eat through his skin cells. Yes. I know. That's why I told you.

Bael huffed and headed back in. Then he heard the gun shots. He grimaced, reaching for his whip. Things were not good.

Upon hearing Simon's plan, Leandra's eyes widened, not that anyone could see with the lighting going to shit in the club, but still.

Staying where she was so she didn't trip over something and faceplant, Leandra heard Simon flip the table nearby and couldn't resist gasping at the noise.

When Zoe hurried off to do her thing or whatever, Leandra shifted her attention down to Laohu, at least where she assumed he was.

"Um, orders?"

Feeling uneasy and jolting in place at the sound of screams in the club, Leandra uneasily said, "Let's, um, try to help the injured? I can't really see anything, though. I assume you have no problem seeing in here since you're a cat, right, Laohu?"

Seeing lights flashing about, Leandra looked up in time to see one of Jean-Marc's guards being downed by some beast and she stifled a scream at the sight when a flashlight lit up the mangled body remains.

Shaking a bit now, Leandra put her hand on Laohu's nearest shoulder before saying in a shaky tone, "Lead me to the nearest injured and hopefully still breathing person or animal, Laohu. Helping the injured is going to be the best I can do at this point."

Hearing another scream nearby, Leandra quickly added, "Or we can head for the exit and Luness. There probably will be some injured outside."

Adding under her breath in a tone that spoke of her fear, Leandra whispered, "At least, the ones who are more guaranteed to survive the night."

@crucialstar @zCrookedz

Marie-Lynn felt the tablet slip from her grasp and saw the tail of the monkey disappear.

"Damn you little creature! Give that back!" The python lunged narrowly missing Fie. But the rattled business woman felt there were bigger things to worry about at present. Without a word she slipped out from the table and left, joining the stream of people she could see heading for the casino exit.

@Peaceswore

It was absolute chaos. Even after the beast had seemingly left off killing civilians they kept screaming. As Ash yelled at them some paused, and began running toward the casino and freedom. Other soon followed and then it was a mad rush, anyone who hadn't been maimed by the creature or each other was making a break for the door.

There were several left behind, bleeding badly from gashes, or clutching crushed limbs.

The mysterious animal charged. Alec swore colourfully and grabbed Rin and Raven, throwing them to the floor and inches below the beast's claws. It landed and rounded on them again, but by that time Alec had his gun up and fired three shots. The creature screeched and vanished again out of range of the cell phone light.

Alec could hear it snort, but its footsteps had gone eerily silent.

Just then an audible yelp could be heard from its direction as the found the glass-littered lounge floor. A flash and several gun shots from Maia's weapon had it spring back, roaring with anger as Ahmose flew at it. The creature reared and flung itself about to dislodge the offending leopard, before rounding on Maia, fangs bared and dripping with the lifeblood of its previous victims.

Alec Couldn't tell what was going on, but the outraged yelling of 'Tosser' was enough to clue him in.

Not wanting to hit the veteran agent he pointed his gun upwards and fired two more shots, hoping it was enough to drive the beast off its target. He heard a loud hiss and once he had stumbled his way over to the table where Maia was pinned he found no sight of it again.

"Well, its smart enough to stay out of the light. My guess is it can probably see just fine without, but it knows humans need it."

He put his hands under the table and pulled hard, lifting it enough for her to scramble free.

"It makes absolutely no sense though, If it was a rogue, why hasn't it made any demands? Why the Hell is it attacking its partners?"

It was beyond Alec, maybe one of their psychotic experiments finally backfired on them. Would serve them right, but at the moment, the Rogues weren't the ones suffering.

"We can't fight it like this. It'll just pick us off. We need a better tactic. Does anyone have an idea of what this creature is yet?"

He looked around at the faces he had since gathered for ideas. Not long after he heard faint voices not far away.

"Leandra? Laohu? Is that you?" He waited a moment for them to answer before adding. "We're coming to you, hold on." Flashing the light at Raven, Rin and Maia in turn he began to lead the way toward the Marie-Lynn team.

"Any injuries?" Alec asked as they drew near. "That things hasn't been after you yet has it?"

He was glad to see them relatively unhurt.

"Where's the rest of your team?" He had yet to see Zoe or Beth.

Meanwhile Duik made his way slowly to the other side of the stage, trying to be as quiet as he could. The..whatever it was, lion, bear, evil ground sloth terrified him. All the training he had worked through with lec hadn't prepared him in the slightest for anything like this.

"So er, Jimbo, how many times have you faced off against crazy, evil monster beasts? Hundreds of times right?, after all, you've been an agent before, maybe you know how to handle this? Maybe we'll be fine...and maybe Alec'll start liking Taylor Swift..."

The other end of the stage seemed miles away crawling in the dark, but eventually he reached it, thanking whatever force made him that they had given him exceptional night vision. He picked out a generator easily enough among the stacks of equipment looked it up and down.

"We can't get this downstairs without a forklift, I doubt even you could carry it...but...we can plug in some of the light rigging right here."

Duik got to work pulling out cord after cord and tossing the ends to Jimbo to hook up to a massive power bar which in turn would attach to the generator.

"This thing's gonna make a lot of noise when we turn it on...it might draw...uh, unwanted attention...so I say we book it as soon as the lights come on. Deal?"

Jimbo watched as Kitsune tore off into the club the second that the door went down. A furrowed his brow, it was understandable that they would all be worried about their partners, but how was Jimbo supposed to see in the dark? Frustrated Jimbo turned back to Manjano and noticed the guy was spaced out a little bit.

Hearing familiar voices, Jimbo squinted to see Duik coming to the doorway, as well as Ash and Luness who were trying to get people headed to the exit they had created. Jimbo turned back to Manjano concerned for the guy.

"Manjano!! You alright? We gotta get the folks out of here. Think you can help Ash while I help Duik? Then we can go find Falarion."

Jimbo didn't have time to make sure Manjano was going to be alright, he had to help Duik get the lights back on. As Duik appeared in the doorway and mentioned the monster, Jimbo stepped into the dark club right behind Duik.

"Lead the way Giggles"

All around the sounds of fighting and screaming seemed to penetrate the darkness of the club. Then there were the sickening signs of the creature that was the cause of the chaos. Jimbo kept close to Duik best he could, he could obviously see much better than he could and could see the generator to get some light back on in the club. He was nervous and scared, and Jimbo didn't blame him one bit. The sounds the creature were making sounded like something you would not want to bump into a back alley.

"Sorry buddy, just the one. And that one nearly killed the entire team."

Jimbo knew it wasn't reassuring, but he couldn't say much else until he knew what they were facing. Finally, they reached the generator and Duik began tossing plugs to him. One after another Jimbo began to push plugs into sockets until the bar was filled. With the lights plugged in Jimbo looked to Duik and nodded to him.

"Deal. On the count of three. One. Two. THREE!!"

Jimbo shielded his eyes from the coming light as he flipped the massive switch and the generator whirred to life, and as soon as he could see better, he tore after Duik. Wherever he was headed.

Simon couldn't see a blasted thing, but the sound of Marie-Lynn's panicked screams told him that Fie had managed to get the tablet away from the woman. Simon smiled to himself in the darkness, wich was short lived at the sound of a very large snake hissing and striking at a glowing square that was bouncing across the floor.

"Fie!!"

Simon climbed over the chair behind him and went around the other side of the table after the glowing rectangle. He found a small monkey attached to it and scooped him and the tablet up as he continued to run through the lounge area.

"Good job Fie, I got a bag of gummies in my pack back at the hotel with your name on them."

Simon took the tablet and slid it into the inside of his jacket as they both exited the lounge. Simon placed a finger to his ear and pressed the com link.

"Package secured, does anyone have eyes on what the hell is in the club?!"

All he could imagine was Amber scolding him for not having planned this mission out more before jumping into it. But until they got back to HQ, that would have to wait as he and Fie made their way out towards the screams and pandemonium.

@everyone

Zoe watched how quickly did Barry tend to his wounds, even without hesitation. She found his bravery quite admirable yet she just watched for now as he threw the bottles to the ground. It took her few seconds to realize what his plan was and nodded, hurling the empty bottles herself to the floor which was soon to be a very dangerous place to tread upon.

" Bold move but a risky one. " she said after the boy finished tossing the bottles, creating a minefield for their opponent. " Let us pray that nobody gets injured by that from out squad. We need to get to the others, I think I heard Alec's voice nearby... "

She tried to look left and right but she could barely see anything. It was then when she looked up and it seems that the lights were coming back up. Immediately she turned her attention to Barry to inspect his wound from close up.

" Blast! " she hissed with anger. It seemed quite ugly though it did not seem to be deep or lethal. Putting her hands on his shoulder she looked into his eyes " Follow me closely and DO NOT try and be a hero. Though I know you are aching for a fight we must find the others to provide at least some sort of medical... "

As she stared into his eyes she stopped and frowned.

" You already know that, don't you? " she said with satisfaction. His eyes told her anything so she just turned around, spotting Alec with some others and turned to Barry. " Let us make haste then! "

Moving through the volatile field of glass proved to be a difficult task but they managed to get to the others with relative ease. Finally getting to Alec, Leandra and the others she knelt down next to them. She did not even pay attention to the scenery just yet, her priorities lied elsewhere.

" Thank heavens you are all right! " she exclaimed with a relief " It is good to see all of you mostly unharmed. Barry has a serious wound on his hand, it has been sterilized temporarily by alcohol but it needs proper cleaning, a bandage and medical attention as soon as possible. "

She turned to Barry, looking at him with a serious expression. She was not about to let an agent suffer again on the battlefield.

Eos was startled when he first heard the shattering glass and the screams. He watched as the terrified civilians tried to escape and he was relieved that they could manage to do so in the end. But he could wait no longer, he closed his eyes and sought for the mental image of Zoe, trying to find her. In utter darkness it was night impossible to locate her but he noticed that the lights were coming back on. Uncertain whether he could make his way cross the field of glass he decided to take a deep breath and make a run for it. His hooves allowed him to ignore any small obstacles though he could barely avoid some of the fragments on the ground. Finally managing to reach the small group he panted and dropped down into cover.

" What is the situation? " he inquired from everyone, his heart pounding in excitement and from the adrenaline.

Barry

Barry waited for any reaction to come out of broken glass. A sharp screech could be heard over everything. Though it made him feel better, the fight wasn't going to be over just because it stepped in glass. Just then, the lights turned on. Barry's eyes had to adjust to the brightness but soon he came to. As this was happening, Zoe took his hand to inspect it. Though it didn't look pretty, it wasn't terrible. Probably a scar and some stitches but not much else. He realized his neck was showing since he ditched the bloody scarf. He took out his backup and wrapped it around. He heard Zoe speak of getting to the others to get it checked up but Barry just gave her a focused gaze. He knew it needed to be checked up, that would come after they take care of this thing. He could still use both hands. One would just sting is all if he used it. A small price to pay for victory.

They bolted to the group that formed. He looked at all of them. It seemed some had already stepped in the path of this creature. Inspecting, he noticed Maia had been cut up but glass. He grimaced at the sight. His plan was risky and a teammate paid the price for his hasty thought. He would have to apologize later on. She seemed fine for now so he would push it to the back of his mind. It seems the missions were more than he thought they would be. That didn't mean he would back down, just that he would rather work with a group this time. BARRY! a familiar voice rocketed out.

BB

She was minding her own business while everyone was talking the guy up. What was a little bird going to do in gambling anyway? It seemed like things were a bit shaky but manageable. Nothing problematic was going on at the moment so she let her mind wander a little while Xiao did her thing. BB waited patiently in her hair until the lights went out. She started freaking out and got tangled up in her hair for a moment before unwrapping herself. She started to take off, but screams had her scared. She immediately found her way back to Xiao. Oh god, oh god, what is happening! What are those screams?! A little later, the lights came back on and everything was damp. A small group was forming. There, her buddy Barry had run up. She flew to him as fast as possible.

Leandra continued to have her inner freakout moment until she overheard Alec's voice nearby.

Tentatively raising her voice, Leandra responded, "Y-yeah, we're over here. Wherever 'here' is right now."

Well, she was still near Marie-Lynn, but after hearing a hiss of the snake companion, the pair had seemingly vanished in the dark (wait, does that even make sense if it's dark everywhere?).

Hearing Alec much closer to them and asking about injuries, Leandra glanced about in the dark in a feeble attempt to look at Alec, but quickly gave up and shrugged. Except nobody could see her shrug, of course. Stupid darkness.

"Uh, no injuries here unless my pride counts as an injury. I never want to be on the 'befriend the rich person' team ever again to be frank."

Hoping her feeble attempt at a joke somewhat calmed things (as if that were remotely possible with some rampaging, murderous beast in the building), Leandra narrowed her eyes in a vain attempt to see any expressions around her, but only managed to see outlines of the slowly gathering team. Eh, close enough.

At the question of where the rest of her team was, Leandra instantly responded, "Well, Zoe went all commando on us so I can only imagine she's clashing with the beast at this rate. I'm assuming Cedar ran off after her. Simon flipped the table at Marie-Lynn and then Fie stole her tablet. Unless my hearing is shitty, Simon should actually be here still."

Before she continued speaking, Leandra suddenly facepalmed, as she remembered having packed a flashlight in her medic bag in case she ever needed to help someone in the dark. Planning was a go here, but quick thinking clearly wasn't her forté. Oh well.

Shifting about in the dark, Leandra soon managed to rummage around in her bag long enough to find her flashlight, which had a handy red light on it that helped one see in the dark without screwing with their vision.

Turning the flashlight on, Leandra then quickly flashed it about the gathered group and blinked in surprise when she saw Zoe and Barry joining the group. Whoops, hopefully Zoe didn't take offense to the 'commando' comment if she'd overheard it. Not that it was necessarily offensive, but one could never be too sure.

Mustering whatever confidence was left in her, Leandra then continued, "Okay, well, it looks like my team is all here now."

Pausing at the sight of Barry favoring his hand, Leandra then brushed past Alec and walked straight up to Barry before using her free hand to tentatively take Barry's now clearly injured hand.

Frowning at the sight of it, Leandra then quickly changed the lighting of her flashlight to white so she could get a better view of the wound.

Seeing some liquid mixed with the blood from the wound, Leandra asked out loud, "What have you done to treat this so far? What's mixed with the blood here?"

While waiting for a response, Leandra instantly grabbed one of Barry's shoulders and led him to the nearest chair and promptly shoved him into it before kneeling down and taking off her med bag. Rummaging through it, she produced some bandages as well as a stitching kit. Putting her flashlight in her mouth, Leandra then kept it aimed at Barry's hand, which she moved onto his thigh so it was facing the ceiling and she had a good view of it.

Unable to speak now, Leandra simply hoped Barry was paying attention to understand pain was incoming, as she quickly cleaned off the wound are with a spare, clean cloth before grabbing her stitching kit and pausing to wait for the answer to her question of what had been mixed with Barry's blood. She couldn't close the wound with something that would potentially further injure him.

Having been completely distracted from the problem at hand, Leandra almost missed the whole lights back on thing except that she was temporarily blinded by it and so it was kinda hard to miss.

Blinking, Leandra pulled her flashlight out of her mouth and made a face for a second at the sight of her saliva all over the handle (um, ew) before she wiped it clean on her pants before shoving it back into her med bag. Hopefully nobody planned on borrowing it from her in the near future.

Beth felt little triumph as the ploy she and Simon set up seemed to work enough to get them started. She really did want to feel successful, and she knew that they were, but the idea of what she had just passed herself off as made her sick. Being a bought-and-paid-for slave for a man would make any woman shudder, for good reason. Beth felt Totus suddenly push in to support her, and her stomach settled again.

Just in time for the fire alarm to go off and douse them all in a gross mixture meant to smother flames. She gasped as the coldness hit her neck and bare legs. Annoyed, she mused, like this could get any worse...

So the lights went out, as if only to spite her.

Their host reacted calmly, until the sound of a scream. It was obvious to Beth that Marie-Lynn knew what they were up against. But she instictively mentally reached out to Totus in the darkness, distracting her from the others. What brought her back was Simon grabbing her and giving some kind of instructions before flipping the table and allowing Fie to grab the tablet. Marie-Lynn was gone in seconds.

Beth shook herself out of her daze and drew the handgun she had hidden under her skirt. Her other hand went to Falarion, who was seeking her out.

"Stay very close." She said, as more screams sounded. They had to get back to the team before they got picked off as well. Beth tugged on Falarion and rushed in the direction of their voices, but halfway there the lights snapped back on. Dazed by it, Beth stumbled to a stop. Instinctively, she now looked for the creature that was attacking them. When she found it, she rather wished she hadnt.

Hearing Leandra's uneasiness, Laohu supressed his emotions that made him feel useless, right now, he could only concentrate of getting Leandra to safely, especially since well. . Lune and Hui would have his head before he could even speak. Sticking close to her, he heard his voice as his eyes adjusted quite well to the darkness. He was thankful to be able to see, however, seeing in the dark isn't all fun and games since he knew right now this whole blasted club was an utter warzone. Hopefully, Lea's distracted enough to not even see the mauled bodies and the blood splattered, if and when, the lights turn back on. "More like a 'big' cat, I'd rather not be just referred to as a cat, Lea, it hurts my pride." He teased, trying to make light of the situation but returned back to business, "Of course, what kind of medic would you be, right? Yes, I can take you towards the injured here, if that's what you want, are you sure?" Laohu asked her, worried that the only people that will be alive in this club would be them and their teammates. If he allowed her to take care of anyone in this. . club besides them . . he'd afraid to scar her too much. Hearing another scream, Laohu heard Lea suggesting to go to Luness instead since there may be more injured people outside than there. But, at hearing Lea's whisper, Laohu chuffed in response. Soon, hearing a slight yell and a hiss, Laohu looked over to see the python charging for Fie only for Simon to get him away as Marie-Lynn soon fled the scene. Laohu internally whooped at hearing Simon's remark, glad Fie gotten the tablet and nothing was for naught. However, before they got a move on he saw light flashing in their direction and soon enough a voice in the distant: Alec. Watching him carefully in the dark, Laohu made sure he didn't step anywhere that could potentially harm him. As Lea answered Alec, Laohu kept his eyes and ears open. "We're fine, Alec, at least, to some extent. It didn't attack us here, thankfully. However, Zoe should be around somewhere. . . Beth as well . ." He said in a hopeful tone, hoping the others were okay. As Lea found a flash light in her bag, Laohu's perspective was much better with both Alec and Leandra's flashlight as he looked around for Xiao Hui among the crowd. He hated being a wet tiger, especially having his fur all dampened. Shaking off the water droplets off of him, Laohu accidently may have made the others even wetter, but then again, all of them were soaked, so what's the harm in more water? Looking at Alec, Laohu tilted his head, "How are you? Are you alright? Is anyone else injured? If so, bring them to Lea, let her take care of the wounded." However, before he knew it, the lights was brought back on as he saw Zoe and Barry walking towards him. Well, an injured Barry in that case. Sniffing the air, he smelled a mixture between dried and fresh blood. Growling lowly, he shook his head, feeling uncomfortable with it along with the dampened air, drugs, and alcohol.

As soon as Barry made his way towards them, Lea quickly headed over to him to tend to his injuries as she concentrated on fixing him up. Observing the girl, Laohu took notice of the way she was acting throughout the night, but even more so at her determination on setting her mind on patching up Barry. Seeing her act that way, he could only assume that it was the only thing that kept her well . . sane and going.
"Zoe . . How are you? Did you see anything? Don't run off like that next time, especially during such a disadvantage." He scolded lightly, positive Eos wouldn't not have liked to know Zoe had gone AWOL for a while. Soon, Laohu walked to Lea's side, letting her knew that he was by her side, if she needed. "If you need any help, Lea, I don't mind." He said, before looking towards Barry only to hear a panicked and high voice zooming pass them. Seeing BB frantically asking what's going on, Laohu calmly spoke towards her, "BB, take a deep breathe and let's calm down first. We don't know what's going on . . especially if this really wasn't a Rogue attack or maybe. . an experiment gone wrong. Whatever it was, our targets fled the building." Laohu said to her softly as he turned his head towards Alec, "Since the comms are going in and out, some of us weren't able to communicate clearly. But, hearing you before the comms died, Alec, you were the closest along with. . ?" Laohu asked in wonder, the question up in the air as he wondered who else was with him. "What were you able to see and get from your encounters?" He questioned before glancing around to see any of his other teammates as he spotted Rin , Maia and Ahmose, and another person he had yet to meet (Raven) in the direction Alec has came. However, realizing the beast still be around, Laohu planted his paws on the ground, being on high alert once more to feel the presence of the unknown creature. What could it be? Laohu looked around once more as his eyes landed on Beth and Falarion, however seeing their expression, he looked to see what they were looking at. As soon as he did . . Laohu stood there frozen, feeling his heart beat drop, as the blood in his veins felt as if it turned ice cold. "N-no." He managed to let out, mind linking his partner, quickly, this time getting a hold of her, "Hui." However, hearing Eos' voice, Laohu didn't turn to look at him, but spoke, "The situation just got worse, if we don't think of something quick and fast." He said solemnly.

On the other hand, Xiao Hui was ushering people that she came screaming or literally attacked her, screaming for help. Slowly, one by one she was able to guide them towards Ash and Luness on the other side of the casino to head outside. She made sure to count her steps as she took the people back and forth. However, to help quicken her pace, she broke her heels, hoping the Watch didn't mind, then again, her whole outfit was already wet. Nevertheless, the girl she had been dancing with surprisingly stuck by her side, helping the people out, or what was left that were still living. Soon, when they finished, Xiao Hui was glad the girl had gone as well. However, throughout the whole thing, Xiao Hui's stomach churned as she heard fighting, yelling, and gun shots throughout the casino. Not knowing where everyone was and where the creature was was frightening, however, she had to use and work with what she had by listening carefully and watching her steps to not get caught in the crossfire. As she stood by Ash and Luness, Xiao Hui took a deep breathe,
"That's the last of them, but, through-out the whole hurdle, I never saw any of our teammates. They're still in here somewhere and hearing the constant gun shots, yells, and noises, it's only right to stay here, but how can we get the beast's attention? Any plans, Ash? Lune?" She asked them, only for a slight moment, Xiao Hui's face paled as she didn't feel BB on her shoulders, "BB!" She called out, only for the hummingbird to quickly zoom back on her shoulders. Breathing easily now, Xiao Hui calmed down her beating heart as she nuzzled BB gently. Her heads shook slightly as she attempted to get her comms to work and soon enough the lights went back on. Hearing a voice in the comms, Xiao Hui's expression brightened slightly, "Simon!" She managed to say as she spoke as loud as she could, "Ash, Lune, and I are near one of the exits. . . the others. . ?" Xiao Hui said, looking around the casino as she squinted, spotting a small group huddling around. Sighing in relief at the sight, she spoke through the comms, "We're all in the casino still, where are you? It's not hard to miss a group of people. Are you okay?" She informed and asked him politely, as Xiao Hui dropped her fake facade instantly, knowing the mission was already over

Making her way over towards the group, Xiao Hui was relieved so see no one badly injured, even moreso that Laohu seemed alright. But, before she could even come as close to the group, Xiao Hui stopped in her tracks as she managed to take a look around the area. Her heart dropped at the sight of what had occurred in the dark. These all-too familiar scene was only a reminder of a bad memory she had in the past. Her irregular heartbeat and shallow breathing continued as her eyes scanned even further when she saw the distorted bodies on the floor, the blood splattered everywhere, and the mauled people. But, the one thing that made her wish that they were somewhere else other than this moment was when she heard Laohu's voice through her mind-link. Xiao Hui looked over, not realizing BB had already gone off too see Barry. Her hands shook lightly as she stared in disbelief. How is it alive? Wasn't it. . dead? A myth. . ? But, as soon as she heard the beast screeching and moving around constantly. Xiao Hui sharply inhaled as her hand shook slightly. She stared at his big, round eyes, his grinning, hungry fangs, those large claws. . . long tail . . a body as big as a bear or elephant and most of all, the horn on his head, screamed everything that proved it to be Him. She needed everyone to group together and fast, especially since He's back. Tapping her comms, she tried it out,
"Hello? Can you hear me?" Xiao Hui spoke a little loudly, hoping the others in the room could hear her, if not then through the comms. "Listen to me carefully." She spoke, as she resisted the urge to shudder, "The beast. . . is not a Rogue. Nor will it ever become a Rogue. The beast marches to it's own resolve and own personal desire." Xiao Hui said, letting those words sink into everyone's ears. "His name is 年 (Nian), which means "Year". Every child in China knows the legend of Nian, though none would believe the myth to be true. . until . . well, now." Xiao Hui said, taking a deep breathe, before beginning the story," Nian is a beast that was said to live in the mountains or under the sea. He comes out at night on New Year's Eve and down to the village (China) to torment the people during New Years Eve. Nian attacks people out of rage since he hates people. He likes to eat their livestock, to wound them, and then, most of all, kill them. It was foretold that if you put up red decorations such as lanterns and scrolls on one's doors, it would drive the beast away. Not only does that drive the beast away, but, to frighten him, the people would beat on drums, gongs, burn bamboos, and light firecrackers and fireworks to scare him away from them." Finishing the story, Xiao Hui remained quiet for a few moments as she spoke up again, "That's how red became a lucky colour during New Years and why red is everywhere during this time of the year. Fireworks weren't only just for show. We need to make noises, quickly before he attacks us again. It was said that the beast was killed. . .but here he is, alive and angrier than ever before. There's no reasoning with him."

Raven/Kitsune

With the introduction of the creature, things became a lot more interesting. Raven discarded her intention to track down Jean-Marc and returned to the chaos that was the main club. Innocents needed her now as flashbacks of the unintended casualties of war surfaced in her memory.

She kept her pistol drawn, but couldn't find a target. Someone pulled her just out of reach of a large, slashing paw. Raven rolled with the momentum through the ankle-deep water and came back to a crouch, down on one knee. "Thanks," she called out to whomever it was that had kept her from harm.

Gunshots rang out on occasion and along with the few flashlights, handful of smartphones and a slightly glowing phoenix, Raven found it difficult to discern where the creature was. There seemed to be no pattern to its attack as it randomly moved through the din. She re-holstered the gun; there was no use in taking the chance of hitting someone who wasn't the creature.

Raven nodded and followed along with Alec. "No, not injured," she reported with irritation in her voice, "but I have no idea where my damn, good-for-nothing fox has gotten to." Regrouping was a good move and Raven tried to make a quick head-count of who was in their midst but she was still having trouble putting faces to names being so new to this collection. Sprinkler soaked clothes and hair didn't help either as not everyone appeared as she remembered them when they were ... well, drier.

Then, seemingly from nowhere, Kitsune appeared. "Hell of a thing, eh captain?" he said nervously.

"Oh, so glad you could make it," Raven retorted dryly. "Far be it from you to be helpful in any way." Kitsune's sopping ears drooped as he looked down. "We'll discuss your performance later," she added.

Before she could go on, a voice on the comm detailed their current nemesis as something other than a Rogue. "Hell, now what?" Raven spat to no one in particular. Sure, they could fire off random shots in the crowded club, but there was only so much ammunition to go around. Raven had made sure to have plenty on her, thanks to the hidden internal pockets of her long coat so expertly crafted by Nigel.

"Ok, we should set up a perimeter around the thing," she suggested, "in a semi-circle with those of us who are armed. We take turns firing shots until we can drive it into a corner, then we finish it off." Her eyes cut down to Kitsune. "Unless someone else has a better idea?"

Manjano shrugged at Jimbo, quickly realized how stupid it was to do that since the club was still in darkness, but saw that the gorilla had already left with Duik. Well then.

Hearing Ash shouting and directing people towards the exit Jimbo had made, Manjano moved inside and off to the side.

With what little light Luness was able to provide, Manjano really couldn't see far enough into the club to find Falarion, which was making his heart race.

Falarion, mate, are you okay? What's going on in there?

As Beth moved over the with the gathering group and comforted him, Falarion worriedly glanced about before hearing Manjano's thoughts.

Um, I think we're all okay. Barry got a cut on his hand and the new girl has small cuts on her from glass that was on the ground. I, uh, never got her name.

Okay, where are you guys?

We're near the bar.

I'm coming.

Wagging his tail upon hearing that Manjano was coming to them, Falarion let out a small whimper of joy before shuffling a bit in place and trying to not be obnoxious.

A few grunts and muttered curses later, and Manjano walked up to the group just as the lights came back on.

Scowling and covering his eyes at first, Manjano then muttered, "Shit," before he blinked a few times and his eyes readjusted. A warning seriously would've been nice.

In a flash, Falarion left Beth's side and leapt up into Manjano's arms, leaving him to stumble backwards in surprise, though he did catch himself, while holding Falarion in his arms.

Falarion immediately began excitedly licking at Manjano's cheeks before Manjano let out a small chuckle and struggled to set Falarion back down on the ground.

Nice to see you, too, mate.

Pouting at Manjano, Falarion then whined, "I was scared and you weren't with me! I mean, Beth was with me and she's a great petter, but still!"

Rolling his eyes in amusement, Manjano smirked down at Falarion while thinking, Chill, mate. I'm here now.

Shifting their attention to Xiao when she spoke up about the beast, Falarion shifted closer to Manjano's side, his side against Manjano's leg now. He lowered his ears against his head and tucked his tail between his legs, as Xiao described Nian to the team.

Speaking of, Manjano turned his head around to glance behind himself and froze when he saw Nian. This outta be interesting...

Barry was practically yanked to a more secluded spot, away from potential fray by Leandra. Though he had not met her yet, the med kit was enough information to know what she was up too. When she asked him what he did to clean it, he just kept a straight face. It's not like he could talk. It didn't matter any way. Near instantly she was at work with the cut. A few spikes of pain from the thorough cleaning and some uncomfortable feelings when the cloth rubbed against the wound were all he really felt. For one reason or another, she didn't stitch it shut. He noticed she was gazing at him for an answer. A small feeling of unease was in the air now. Casually, he pointed to the shattered alcohol and glass on the ground. Clean? He signed, hoping something could get across. His gaze rose up from her now. His eyes caught the sight of something strange.

He wasn't sure what to make of the thing. A Nian? [
Why can't it be a rouge? i've already seen a few people with mythological friends. What makes this one so different?] He questioned in his head. Looking upon it, the sight was daunting. The thing was pretty huge compared to those in the group. D-Don't worry Barry. We can do this. She whispered as to not draw attention to her in particular. We just gotta make some noise right? Big booms like Xiao said. As BB said that, Barry remembered the fireworks pinwheels that were outside. They were a little too far up on the building for him to even get close to reaching. Maybe they could be used as a final push? [How did this thing even get here in the first place? There is literally red and noise everywhere?]

Leandra continued to awkwardly wait for an answer from Barry until he pointed at the glass scattered about on the ground along with spilled alcohol. Right, he's a mute. Duh.

Resisting the urge to facepalm at the moment, Leandra nodded at Barry and then gave him a blank look when he tried to sign to her. Yeah, maybe learning sign language would've been a good idea at one point.

Leandra's eyes widened slightly when she realized what Barry was hinting at. Someone put drinking alcohol on his cut? First of all, ew. Second of all...well, ew.

Shrugging at Barry, Leandra quickly went to work stitching up his hand after she cleaned it a second time and then poured some of her rubbing alcohol on it.

While stitching Barry's hand, Leandra said, "Sorry, I don't sign, Barry. I also have no idea how helpful that kinda alcohol is for a deep cut considering that alcohol is recreational, not medical. We'll just have to hope that a lot of it didn't get in your cut because I'm pretty sure it could cause an infection instead of preventing one. But hey, we'll stay positive and assume that counteracting it with rubbing alcohol and bandaging it, plus stitching it up, will still help prevent infection!"

Once she'd finished speaking, Leandra grabbed her bandages and swiftly wrapped Barry's hand before shoving all of her medical crap back into her bag and slinging it over her back.

Standing up, Leandra then froze in place when she saw the Nian, which she'd overheard Xiao speaking about just now. Not to be pessimistic or anything, but they were probably screwed. Like, everyone was going to be mauled to death kinda screwed.

Totus took up the silent-but-wise owl act for most of the mission, as the others seemed to have it handled- or at least thought they did. He tried not to be amused by it all, even though their antics were. That is, until one of the unfamiliar agents pulled the fire alarm, dousing them all in wet, heavy fire retardant. His feathers were not meant for this kind of weathering. The owl would have snapped at the agent, if not for the chain of events that followed.

As soon as the lights went out, he was on high alert. This was not part of a fake fire response. People began to scatter, especially after a piercing scream rang out. Instantly, he was worried about Beth. He flew off of Bael's shoulder and into the main area of the club, trying his best to make due with his heavy feathers. What he saw made him stop in his tracks.. er, flight.

Even with his ability to see in the dark, he couldnt make sense of what was happening. A massive something was attacking people in the club, but he couldnt make heads or tails of the beast. All he could tell right then was that it had very sharp claws and a very fierce appetite.

He knew Beth was just beyond, and as much as he wanted to help the other people, there was nothing he could do right then but regroup with the team. So he went, blocking out the terrified screams.

Before he reached Beth, the lights kicked back on and everyone saw the beast. Beth reacted the same way he had- froze in sheer awe and terror.

"Beth!" Totus screeched as he dove toward her. It snapped her out of her blank stare and she moved with him to the group that had taken cover. She darted over, as Falarion ran to Manjano, with Totus just behind her. In her hands she held her gun, but she had yet to take a shot. Would the little thing even hurt the monster? She thought back to the rifle she had worked with for the last three weeks and suddenly wished that she had had a purse big enough to bring that along. Xiao gave a run down of the monster, Nian. Now the New years traditions made sense. But would they really be able to save them now?
