Nation Building Chronicles of Aldelor ooc

well medicine would work and shrug the undead are meant to be nice undead that co exist with the living over just being evil undead.

Nice or evil, some people believe the dead should just rest in peace and not interfere with the living

well given they are more likely to live more like a industrialized nation the living likely have a lower birthrate

Which is fine, but the treeants /dryads are explict defenders of life and nature.

To lives as an undead defys that.

It's one thing to not die, it is another come back from the dead.

Haha, a nation with no deaths will only increase with numbers as time goes on whether people are born are not. Unless of course, Kul'tir regulates his nation's population and picks/chooses who gets revived^^ Can't say if the dead even give birth, but that's up to you.

i see well Kul'tir and his people will be friendly even if yours are less so they by this point see it as very natural and likely protects nature more than anything.

well the living population likely has lower brithrates and not everyone wants to become a skeleton or ghost and those wishes are respected and their body is interred in the capitol catacombs to protect it unless dire times come.

If somoen is found practicing necromancy unsanctioned and on unwilling it is a capitol offence that gets said person forced into Lady Azalea's ghostly cohort

If I may, a few counter points

1) Few deaths (Some will choose to stay dead, maybe not many based on the culture and normalization but it is an option, so at least some probably take it)
2) If many of the undead are mindless, or near mindless they are closer to machinery than they are people for most matters of over population (needing food/clothing/space)
3)Even if they are not mindless, the percentage of workers with normal human needs is ever decreasing, making supporting them easy. Over population means little when most of your population doesn't need food, medical care, or clothing.

yep you get it skeletons are mindless with no soul attached they are more machine than anything

Which leads to some cold, but practical trade.

We are probably quite distant limiting trade and interaction.

More importantly we aren't willing to go to war just for what you are. (now if you started a huge war of expansion that's another thing).
So what can we do? Dislike your nature, but so what?

Just a cold practical trade.

well that's good is their none use of metal simply no using metal/ tools they made or pure and complete outlaw

They do not own any metal within the kingdom. Traders and such, may bring in metal but no-one will buy it. Any left in the kingdom would just get thrown in a hole, and given to the next trader to show up.

hmm what would your people even want given trees aren't exactly well known for their complex needs

Rarely will people choose to die if given the option not to, though what I mean is unless Arran'ak closes it's borders to immigrants the nation will keep growing with time. Especially if the people of Arran'ak are nice folks and Kul'tir believes death is a choice for all but the wicked~

They'll still take up space even if they don't require many resources^^

Regulation is good. Can't wait to see all this played out IC.

Arran'ak has one of the more interesting cultures.

you misunderstand coming back as a ghost costs money so not everyone gets it most people just donate their bodies and he means undeath is a choice for all but the wicked as he presses those into the ghostly cohort of his fairy. Most people when they die likely stay gone their skeleton having no memory or soul, though during solstices i assume there would be a temp cross over where it is easy for the dead to come and visit.

I see. So necromancers get paid for their work. Makes sense^^

I'm curious how Kul'tir/Azalea judges the souls that are revived. Is there a hearing for the wicked or does he/she simply see into their hearts?^^

I see the Sacred Grove is setting up it's defense system. Excellent. Don't forget that for every point in Tech Advancement is an extra 0.5 point somewhere else. You can allocate it at your own time.

So can I keep it saved until an event or something then spend as a reaction, to unfuck myself?

lol. Nope. You can place the stats at any time, but an event roll will take into account your nation's current stats. Similarly, if a nation suddenly attacks your nation it will take into account your nation's current stats (unless there is prep time--for example if the event is a nation declares war on yours, but doesn't do anything yet.)

wicked in this case means those convicted of a crime and given you can ask someone who killed them even when they are dead most murders would have issues and evil necromancy becomes apparent

I'm going to allow you guys to edit in a population roll (if you so desire) because your posts mention your character already leading people either directly or indirectly...and having your respective nations start at 0 in population doesn't make sense to me.

Hope everyone had a good christmas!

I'm also considering using the Sea Serpent names as months (only if it's okay with you) because they're epic and I like tying things together.

45 days in a month, 8 months in a year, 10 years in a C.O.K

Gonna wait for player opinions before I settle on anything tho. The standard, numerical, calendar might be easier for some.

The sea serpents wouldn't really work for a calendar in place for the past 500 years considering only half of the serpents are 500 years old. I could come up with some additional names if you wan to do it that way though. Like I said, made-up languages are fun. and on that topic...

Karcen Karcen
Is there any thought behind the names of your nation and king?
Just a thought, but they follow the naming convention I've used so far for the primordial/aquan language that the sea serpents speak. Kul'tir and Arran'ak could wittingly or unwittingly be using primordial.
