can you elaborate summore

did another faend update
I imagine they'd fuck around with animals like livestock, mounts, pets, birds, and do weird gardening as well, plus, this magic fuckery probably wound up contaminating lakes, rivers, and maybe even parts of the coast

What made other places have sorcerer lords, but not our region? Is magic in decline because of human expansion/extermination, or are there other factors? Were/are there non-humans in our neck of the woods or are they all mostly gone?

Faends are rare in Carmondy, but become slightly more common further north, in Fyrdos, and especially beyond - i.e. in Galdos. Dyrnwald, being a borderland kingdom with the Solace ruins, probably has the most nonhumans though.

North of Fyrdos is Galdos (pictured) and another bunch of Old Kingdom ruins, the Kulmor Palatinate. (don't ask why Skerry exists twice)

Paladins and Holy Temple authorities operate throughout the Boldic kingdoms (Carmondy, Valcay, Gorwad, Dyrnwald, Fyrdos, etc.) and are known to monitor and keep registries of faends, as well as generally harass and cause trouble for them as long as they're present. Temple forces still patrol for monsters and whatnot, but nowadays they're less likely to straight-up murder humanoid faends, especially if they aren't hideous. There are also secular knights that patrol for monstrous faends known as Regarders.

The Aedor heartland is located in the east, but during the apex of their power they established various Palatinates across the continent. One example are the Solace ruins north of Dyrnwald, where Solace was the palatine capital.

Intact Aedor splinter states (Empire of Drame, Imperial Kingdom of Adirith) are still in the east.

True magick had been on the decline for quite some time, and most sorcerors and powerful monsters were killed in the last thousand or so years. The Schism between various sorceror-lords weakened the Consortium to the point where it was vulnerable to the holy uprising and subsequent magicide/widespread faend extermination. Afterwards, the fertile lands of the western Palatinates were reclaimed, save for the ones that were schism-scarred/overrun with monsters. The eastern lands of Aedor are contested between the See of Light (Aedoran Paragonites), the Old Kingdom splinter states, and the various warlords and cults that operate in the swaths of ruins as well.

The true capital of Aedor was rendered schism-scarred, so the original seat of the Emperor and the Consortium are lost, though successors have appeared in Drame and Adirith.

So the power of the sorcerer lords declined mainly because of 'environmental' factors beyond anyone's control? Is this trend towards a 'lower fantasy ' world cyclical, like magic coming and going every once in awhile, or something irreversible?

Not that it would really matter to any of our characters. I'm just sorta interested in da lore.

In old lore that may or may not be depreciated, dead fae encased in amber stones had been the source of power for the sorcerors, before they were mostly drained and supplanted by sacrificial rituals. A lot of the destruction during the schism was caused by both the rituals, and by sorcerors using up the powers in their remaining 'amber stones'.

In the bestiary, it's mentioned that faends made up about half of sorcerors near the end of their reign, so the Schism could have had some elements of a race war between Aedor human sorcerai and faend sorcerai. Some sorceror-orders/lordly families would have been all-human, others all-faend (usually of only select breeds), others mixed. All of them dipped too heavily into sacrifice, leading to Paragonites overrunning them. With lesser involvement were some necromantic orders (illegal even in Aedor, but crept back in during the chaos), that caused their own fair share of trouble.

ICly some people probably believe in something cyclical, but the main belief is that Paragon is the ultimate vanquisher of the sorcerous powers in the world, because he's so great. In Aedor, he is called the 'God of Silence'.

Felt this. I often read the posts and am just like dyin to go through the docs and stuff. Always seems like what is written for us is just a glimpse into a way bigger world. Lorsh is wicked talented at saying alot with a little

I literally use rpnation just for his stuff mostly 🤣
