By the Kings Order

Alexandria had put on a dark red dress with embroidered gold corset top. She fixed her hair and washed her cuts.Alexandria looked in the mirror and fixed the dress. She put on a necklace her mother had given her and it settled into the hollow of her neck.Alexandria sighed and looked in the mirror. She hated her hair and fixed it. So it hung gently around her shoulders.

Her raven hair had become wavy from it being in braids earlier. Alexandria finally made her way to the hall where the feast was being held. Alexandria placed her hand on the door and sighed. She opened it gently and walked in with her head held high. She looked as the hall fell silent and she got stares as she walked ti the table where she was to be seated. She took her seat next to Duncan and sighed, she was not use to the attention.Alexandria breathed and looked over at Duncan with a small smile. She heard the hall go back to it's noisy chatter. Alexandria looked around the feast was grand and more then she had ever seen or been to.

Alexandria sighed and ate very little. She pushed at her foid and listened to stories. She smiled and shook her head. As a song floated through the air her eye's went to her sister. Her sister smiles and nods.Alexandria excused herself for a minute.Claire nods to Angus and kissed his cheek. Alexandria took her sister's hand and they went to dance.Alexandria laughed as she spun with her sister. She hadn't had fun with her in ages not like this.Alexandria danced with her sister and actually enjoyed herself as the song ended her sister spun her out and she stopped as she felt a hand slip around her waste. She looked up to see Duncan and smiles. "Well hello my Laird."She said. Alexandria laughed and nods to him.

Claire smiles and goes to sit by Angus. She smiled and slipped her hand in his."do you not dance?"She asked Angus and smiles.

As she entered the hall, everyone went silent. This was the first time that many would get to see her up close and how she would present her self. Duncan could see that she had made quite the impression on those in the hall. He smiled as he watched her approach the head table and how the eyes a many of the men followed her, even those that were married. As she made it to the table, Duncan rose from his seat and pulled her chair out for her and helped push it back in once she was seated, before returning to his chair. Everyone began to talk once more and the food was served. He noticed that Alexandria was not eating much and was about to ask her about it when she excused herself and took her sister out to dance with some of the other people that were enjoying the music.

When the music stopped he got to his feet and went to the center of the floor, between the tables and slipped and arm about her waist for the next dance. It was a slow one and he moved with her about the floor. He knew how to dance. That was one thing his mother made sure of. Angus when asked by Claire if he danced, bit his lower lip some. "I am not that good, but I will try." he took her hand and lead her out to where the others were dancing and took a deep breath as he put a hand on Claire's waist and the other took one of her hands.

Alexandria looked up at him as the danced to the song.Alexandria watched him and smiled. "You know how to dance? Now I am impressed. "She said. She danced with him it was a traditional known both to low landers and Highlanders. She stared into his eye's and breathed. She almost hadn't realized the song had ended. The hall burst into applause. Alexandria stepped back and bowed to him. She smiled and stepped up to him."you do amaze me at the best of times. "She said and stepped closer to him. She did not care there were a hall of people watching her. Alexandria had fallen for Duncan and her heart beat faster every time he came near her. She had slipped her arm's around his neck. Alexandria smiles and looked at him. "You are still a mystery to me one I definitely wish to know more about."She said

Claire smiles as he danced with her. She laughed when he gently stepped on her toes. She sighed. "Here just follow my lead."Claire said and danced slowly with him. When the song ended she smiles and kissed his cheek wrapping an arm around his neck."you will get the hang of it."She says and kissed his cheek. Claire walked, back to her seat with him and left her hand in his.

Duncan was lost in a world of pure bliss. He was dancing with Alexandria and everything about him seemed to dim and be shut out. It was just her and him. His mother watched the two dance, her hands clasped and rest to her breast. A bright smile was on her lips and a look of contentment in her eyes. When the dance stopped and everyone was appaluding, Alexandria ut her arms about his neck and he pulled her close to him and he kissed her. Again there was a loud appalause and his mother was loving every minute of what was going on. He son had found the woman he wanted and it had been because of the Kings Decree. Fate had a funny way of making things happen, but she did not care. She could see her son was happy and falling in love.

Angus' friends all looked and their jaws dropped as they saw him go to dance with Claire. He never danced, no matter what was said or done he would not. But there he was dancing with a pretty girl that seemed to have tamed the wild beast. They then laughed, and made merry of him, but in a good way. The red in his cheeks told how embarased he was but he didn't care about that either. He returned to his seat with Claire and looked about him with a broad smile.

Duncan finally lead Alexandria off the floor and back to their seats. The night was still young and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

As they partied, Daniel arrived at the King's castle and was escorted immediately to the King. He handed him the satchel and dispatches which the king began to read. Laying them down, he looked at Daniel. "You are not one of my messengers. How came you by these."

"I am Daniel McCloud of the Clan McCloud your magisty. We found the messenger killed, and English soldiers about. We killed them and my Laird, Duncan McCloud sent me here with these knowing you would want them as soon as possible."

The king looked at Daniel and nodded. He knew the name and that they hailed from the Highlands. Duncan McCloud had been right. He needed to see the documents as soon as they had arrived. "See to his needs and give him a fresh horse so he may return home. My thanks Daniel McCloud. Give your Laird my thanks as well." he then called for his court to be conviened immediately.

Alexandria blushed at the loud applause. When Duncan kissed her. She didn't care, she lifted his chin her hand rested on his cheek. Her lips were happily Locked with Duncan's. Alexandria smiles when they pulled away for air. She looked around and blushed. Her pale cheeks now alight with some color.Alexandria let him lead her back to there seats. She sat next ro him and slipped her hand into his gently. Alexandria was happy to be with him here. She did not eat more. She had eaten her fill even though she had eaten little. In the lowlands they did not eat much.Alexandria looked over and smiles at her husband to be.

Claire smiles at Angus. "You did an amazing job. Dont worry about it you did fine. Maybe I could teach my dear Angus.I wouldn't mind."Claire said. She winked at Angus and held his hand."is that a blush I see?"Claire asked gently.

The dinner went well with more music and dancing. Angus even tried a few more with Claire and began getting the hang of it by the end of the night. Duncan could tell that the big bear of a man was enjoying himself, and probably more then he had out drinking with his friends. When it was done the formal introduction of Alexandira was made by Heather. "My friends and Clansmen, I wish to welcome Alexandria McNally into our family." There were more applauses from the people. She turned to Alexandria smiling. "You are a breath of spring in this old dreary castle. I welcome you and hope you find happiness here among us."

Duncan looked over at her smiling. His mother already was looking at her as her daughter and loving it. There were women in the castle, mostly servants, but none that Heather could really talk to and confide in. Now she had two fine young ladies that she could relate to and enjoy their company. "Also, I would like to welcome Claire McNally, Alexandria's sister. As you all know by now what happened at their farm. Claire my dear, you are welcome here for however long you wish to stay. This is your home now if you wish."

As the night came to a close Heather closed it off by introducing her to the clan she held her head high and watched them. When Heather was done Alexandria stood slowly. " me and my sister would like to thank you more then we could ever thank you.As many of you have heard my tale and who I might be, you have heard I have the attitude and tongue of a Highlander. I did not get this in my journey here. This is who I am and have always acted. I come to love the man my husband to be is and his mother. She is the one I have to thank for this hospitality and to bring life back into the castle I am glad. I must admit I first thought of you all as barbarians and Lazy, but it seems in my journey I had much to learn as the Highlanders much to learn from us low landers and to not judge a person by rumors. I raise my glass to you Mistress Heather and your clan. Long may you live in happiness and may peace and love fill your home."She raised her goblet to the Lady of the house and hood fortune.

Claire raised her glass and nods."Aye."She said and drank. She looked over and winked at her sister then smiles at Angus. "One last dance before we must retire for the evening?"She said

Irish Ice Queen

Heather smiled at Alexandria's reply. A true highlander woman she was, even if she had been born in the lowlands. If there were more like here there then things would be intresting come harvest time. When Claire asked for one last dance, she smiled and had the musicians play another song. Duncan took Alexandria by the hand and Angus Claire. They both went to the floor as the music began and other joined in for the final dance of the night. Again it was a slow dance and Duncan enjoyed having Alexandria close to him. Knowing his mother there would be other days like this. It helped keep the elders and others together and talking. Here they talked and came up with ideas and plans for the future. It was more then just a party or a dinner. It was also a way for Duncan to keep a hand on the pluse of the Clan to see how things fared and what he needed to do to make his people's lives better.

When the night was over he escorted her to her room with Angus and Claire behind them. Soon enough she would be joining him in his rooms and Claire would have the room they had now all to herself. Looking at Claire and Angus, Duncan figured, she would not mind that. If things continued the two of them would be married soon enough and Claire would either be moving to the farmstead of Angus family or the two of them could stay there at the castle. At the door he pulled her to him once more and kissed her deeply again and this time Angus did the same with Claire.

Alexandria had danced one last dance of the evening with him and smiles. She clung to him and sighed. When he walked her upstairs. She stopped at her door and looked at him. She went to say goodnight, when he grabbed her and kissed her deeply. Alexandria kissed him back and pulled herself closer. She sighed, she wished to return to his chambers, but new not till the wedding night. She sighed and pulled away, "goodnight my love I shall see you tomorrow and many day's after."She said and gave him a peck. Alexandria entered her room and sighed. She beamed and let her hair down.

Claire walked suprised at Angus and kissed him back. She melted into his arms. She when her sister went in."I bid thee goodnight. "She said and kissed him again. She followed her sister in and closed the door after bowing to her sister's husband to be. Claire smiles and walked to her sister beaming. "I am so happy aren't you."She asked ger sister. Alexandria looked up"hmm? Oh yes beyond come here time for bed."She said and un did her sister's corset and dress. They put on there night clothes and slipped into the bed next to each other. She held her sister and sung slowly." Sing me a song of a lad that is gone,

Say, could that lad be I?

Merry of soul he sailed on a day

Over the sea to Skye."She sighed as her sister fell asleep to her lullabie.

When the door shut Duncan turned to his cousin. "Well now cousin. It looks like I don't have to arrange a marriage for ye after all. Seems like your already on your way to it." he he laughed and slapped his cousin's back. Angus just grinned as they walked back down to the main hall. Like most get togethers there were always those that lingered to talk. His mother was talking to some about the upcoming weddings that were to take place at the Castle. The Parish Priest was there and when he saw Duncan he smiled.

"Twenty you told your mother. Oh that will be a grand day here." The Padre would be doing the whole thing and he was excited about it. Others also were excited. With so many people from other clans coming, they hoped their businesses would thrive for those few days. Also arrangements for putting up the Lairds in the castle with their new brides and for the others that would accompany them, places in the homes of the town. There had been a reason behind Heather having a big get together at the castle. When Duncan could he found his way to his rooms and stripped off his clothes and fell into bed, being careful not to undo Alexanderia's handy work. He felt good and he felt tired, drained from all that had been happening. He slept more soundly then he had ever done before.

Morning came and he awoke with the first rays of the sun. He was up, dressed and heading down to the kitchen to get something to eat. Leftovers from the night before, which was alright by him. Now that he was back he would have to sit and listen to complaints from his people. Most were disputes over petty things but he was their Laird and his decision on the matters were final. The great hall was transformed from a banquet hall to one of hearing the compalints. It would be something that Alexandira would be there to help him with as well. His mother usually sat in on these cases and gave her council to him. Alexandria would do the same. They both would be ruling over the clan and her word would be as if it had been given by him.

Alexandria had fallen asleep next to her sister. As the morning sun rose and shone through her window. Alexandria slept soundly next to her. As the sun crept threw the curtains, Alexandria woke slowly and turned over. She sighed and Layed in bed. What did this day have in store for her.She actually could not wait for her wedding day. Though she wished it to be only her and Duncan's wedding. She slowly slipped out if bed and went to the window. She looked down at the courtyard and sighed. Alexandria asked a maid to open the curtains and draw her a bath. When the bath was ready she went and slipped into the tub.She sighed and relaxed into the water.

Once Alexandria was clean, she had a maid help her tighten her corset and zip up another black dress she had brought. The sleeves hung from her shoulders. It fit her like a glove, it also came with embroidered gold. She had a maid help her put a gold ribbon in her braids.only part of her hair was up again. She sighed and used candle wax to make her lips darker and fire pit ash to line her eye's. She sighed and looked back. She normally did this at home, for no reason. Here was almost the same. She finally made it to the door letting her sister sleep. She walked down to the kitchen. She spotted Duncan and her heart fluttered. She nods to him."my Laird, how was your sleep. Hope all is well. How are your stitches holding up? Do you feel ill at all?"She asks him gently. She had walked over to his side. Her face full of concern for him.She watched him with gentle eye's.

The cooks and kitchen staff stopped what they were doing and looked at Alexandria as she walked in, as did Duncan. He smiled and shook his head. She was always surprising him now with how beautiful she was. "I slept quite well, better then I have in a long time." he told her. Then when asked about how he felt and the stiches he grinned. "Still there and not torn out." he chuckled. "I feel quite good in fact. Ready for a long day of settling disputes. Grab some food and come with me. This is something that involves you as well when we are married. Your voice will be heard in the matters of the Clan. We are not like some that keep the wives from advising their husbands. Sometimes a woman's out look on things can be a deciding factor." He waited for her to get her food and then he took her up to the Main hall where a smaller table had been placed with a couple chairs behind it. On the table was papers that held the written complaints of those wishing to be heard.

He sighs as he sees them then pulls one of the chairs out for Alexandria to sit and then seats himself and looks through the papers. Those making the complaints were allowed in and the stood waiting for their name to be called. "My mother usually helps me with this, but now that will fall to you. I am glad I only have to do this twice a week. Everyday would drive me insane. It will take up most of the morning."

Alexandria smiles as the cooks mouths dropped at her entrance. Even her Husband had stopped to stare Alexandria smiles and watched him.She stopped and looked at him curious as he asked her to grab some food and follow him. She grabbed some water and an apple. She cocked her head and followed him. She took her seat and let him push her chair in. She looked over the papers. "How wonderful to take up my morning and I thought. I was going to be bored." She said with a hint of sarcasm. She sighed and looked over the papers. She had to strong of opinions for something like this. She grabbed a knife from her boot and cut a slice out of her apple and ate it slowly. She looked as the gaurds moved. Once she had swallowed her mouth full she looked at them."you need not worry this is for enemies and apples only. if you are neither step back and stop hovering. "She said.Alexandria turned her eye's back to the documents. Her eye's skimmed over the pages. "Well here we go." Alexandria said. She looked up and called the first name her face solemn as she waited for there complaints. She sighed and breathed in with a slight huff.

The cases began and there were several of them. A cow sold that gave no milk, sheep that one claimed was his and another claimed to be his and many others like them. He listened to each side and here and there found that the property in question was not theirs and they knew it, just wanted what they claimed. These people he fined for lying and sent men to see that the property was returned to the rightful owner. Many of the cases he looked at Alexandria to see what advice she would give and what punishment for wrong doing she thought was proper.

Heather watched from a balcony, and smiled. Duncan was showing her a side of being a leader of people that few seldom saw, unless they were facing him as those did that day. He had many responsibilities as being the Laird and he took them seriously.and did them, even if at times he wished he could be elsewhere. It made the morning go quick but they got through them all and Duncan sat back and sighed. "I am ready for a bit of lunch and then a nice long ride." he chuckled. "This time we will make sure you have your own horse."

Alexandria sighed as she listened to each complaint. She put her two sense in when she thought her husband was not being harsh enough or to harsh. She was fair and all, but she definitely was getting irritated near the end. They had petty things like this, but they were resolved in a bar pub brawl. She however wasn't supposed to know of things. She however did and enjoyed the brawl better then people whining and complaining.

she was rubbing her temples by the end. The worst part about being married to. Laird was all the things she had to do with him that were either mundane or not of interest to her. When Duncan finally called for lunch and a ride. She hesitated a moment till he said her own horse."Now that would be lovely. But I seem to have a headache and dare not ride.I am sure it is just because it is hot in here is all."She said.

Alexandria excused herself and walked outside for some fresh air. She leaned on the balcony wall. Her cheeks felt flushed, but the cool air of the day hit her cheeks and she sighed. Alexandria had not had head aches like these in a while. They normally rendered her useless and she must lie in bed do to being dizzy. Alexandria had no good explanation for it. It just happened when ever she became to warm and hadn't eaten much. Alexandria was feeling a dizzy spell. She tried to shake it off "I am not weak. You will not pass out."She said. Alexandria felt her knees give weigh as she slid to the balcony floor. Alexandria closed her eye's and leaned back against the balcony wall. She heard voices. They sounded so far away, one above the others made her eye's open slowly. Duncan her blurry vision made out his shape.

He could see the idea of going for a ride was something she wanted, but he saw she was not feeling to good. He thought that perhaps so many complaints and listening to everyone had caused it. Also she had not eaten nothing but an apple so that might also be the cause. But when she swooned on the balcony, that worried him and he was at her side picking her up in his arms. "Fetch the doctor." he called out to one of the men in the room. The guard ran out of the room and then Heather was there a worried look on her face as well.

"Don't you worry none my dear, you are in good hands here." she said. Heather had Duncan follow her up the stairs to Alexandria's room where he laid her on the bed. Claire was awake by then and looked on with wide eyes as they brought her sister in. A bit later a man entered the room. He looked out of place for the highlands. His clothing and manner was definately not highlander, and when he talked he had an accent. "This is doctor Peire Du Bla. He is going to have a look at you." Heather told Alexandria.

Alexandria could barely hear them. She felt her body lifted, in a dream like state.Alexandria felt her body being set gently in a bed.Alexandria moved her head and sighed. Her sister had seen this many times. She looked as a doctor walked in. Alexandria looks over. She felt dizzy very dizzy. She sat her self up slowly. "I am okay no need for a physician. "Alexandria said. She sighed and let him check her out. She answered his questions. He nods."girl just needs to eat and she will be fine a couple's day rest will do her good. Give her room. This other young lady must stay else where. The only ones I shall allow in for now are Master Duncan and that maids. Mistress Alexandria needs rest is all." The doctor says. Alexandria lay on the bed and went to sit up fully. "I am okay I swear."She said and held her head. The doctor pushed her down."no rest, Mistress. "He said. Alexandria sighed and layed back down. Her hand went gently for Duncan's."can you give us a minute." She said to the other's. When they Left Alexandria looked at him. "I am sorry if I scared you my love. Please do not go my dear. Will you not stay with me?"Alexandria asked him with pleading eye's. She wanted to stay with Duncan.

Irish Ice Queen

Duncan sat on the edge of the bed. When the doctor had left, Duncan ordered food to be brought up. "Ahhhhh now it my turn to nurse you and keep you resting." he chuckled. He sighed, "I guess it was a bit much for you this morning. It is a boring and draining responsibility. But it keeps them from fighting each other and perhaps killing one another in which case I would have to take severe actions and perhaps start internal fueds within the clan. That I can not have. One day perhaps I will give that responsibility to a Magistrate, once I find one that will be fair and just and not corrupted." he was talking and going on, probably because she had scared him and it was his way of calming down. "Of course I will stay." he told her and held her hand.

Angus was there and took Clare by the hand. "She will be fine. The pain of dealing with such petty squables probably is the cause. Come I want to take you for a ride somewhere. He lead her out to the courtyard and hoisted her up onto the saddle behind him. He turned the horse and took the same path they had on their walk but he went beyond where they had stopped and turned back. He went over the hill he had pointed out to her the day before. When they crested the hill, they could see a farm stead below and the crops being grown. The house was large as was the barn and a couple other outer buildings. They could see four people working in the fields. He slowly roade down the hill to the farm One of the figures noticed them and pointed and all four stopped what they were doing to watch him come down. They then moved back to the house and waited. Once there Angus dismounted and helped Claire down.

There was an elderly man with greying hair and beard and an elderly woman and two young men. He held Clair's hand and made the introductions. "Mother, Father, this be Claire McNally the sister of Alexandria McNally who is to become Duncans wife. Claire this is my mother and my father, and these two brutes are me brothers, James and William. His mother's eyes went wide when he helped Claire down and introduced her. His father just grinned as did his brothers. She did not look to be a highlander and they did not know her, but the way Angus was acting they all knew she had captured his heart. "Come in, come in my dear." his mother finanly found her voice and smiled.

Alexandria listened to him ramble and smiles. "My love it's fine I am sorry for scaring you."She says and took his hand gently. "Why not come lay a while beside me. Were both still fully clothed and I was hoping to have a picnic with our ride today. I guess will just have it inside .Alexandria said and layed on her side. She had made room for him and would love to lay in her bed and talk to him all day. She knew she had worried him and it was definitely not her intent. She wanted to make up for it.

Claire looked at Angus as he lead her away from her sister. She wanted to say no. She looked at the door with strained eye's. "But when my sister has dizzy spells I spend the day in bed with her. I don't want her to be mad."She said. She worried and followed him. She looked at him as he got a horse. He knew she could not ride. He helped her up behind him and she clung to his back as they rode. She watched where they rode. It was a different way, Claire watched and hid into him as he rode.

Once they got there he helped her dis mount and Claire hid half behind him as introduced her to his family. Claire nods and bows to them. She had gone quite and looked at Angus. She wasn't sure if she should talk.Claire watched all of them. They knew she was not highlander. Would they not approve of her. As his mother invited them inside Claire thanked her and followed Angus in.She help his hand and stayed at his side. She wished her sister was with her.

No one was around. It was just the two of them in the room and as she said they were fully clothed. He did however take his sword belt and sword off before laying next to her on his side. "A picnic inside it will be." he smiled. Yes she had worried him and in time he would be worrying her even more. For what he saw in those documents the King of England was amassing an army to send north while he kept one in the south to protect the southern part of England from any attempted invasion from France. From what he had seen it was a large army and he knew their King would be sending out the call for fighting men. He was hoping that the highland clans now would come down and help with them taking lowlander wives. Duncan was not sure how many would answer such a call, but he knew he would.

As he lay there he touched his wound. "You know you should teach some of the other women how to do such things and what you have learned about herbs and such. We but have the one doctor and he can not be everywhere at once and it would be good to have those that could assist him when he need it."

Angus saw how shy Claire was with his family and he moved behind her so she could be seen. As they went inside the humble home, it was much like her own had been, but a bit larger. His brothers punched him in the arm as they grinned and took seats by the fire place. "Don't be shy my dear." Angus' mother said. "You can speak your mind here." His father took a seat at the table and poured some wine and handed it to Angus.

"Well boy tell us about how the two of you have met and the like." his father said.

Angus took Claires hand in his and held it tightly. For he knew what he had to tell, she would have to feel the pain again. He related what had happened and what had happened to her parents. Like Heather, Angus' mother took Claire into her arms and hugged her. "Oh you poor dear. Well you be welcome here any time you wish to come and talk or just to come visit. Our home is yours."

Far away, in London. The King of England stood by a table filled with maps and one on top of them all. One of his generals began speaking and pointing. "We have Welsh bowmen that will move from the south up to the rally point. Conscripts have been brought in from the west and north to be trained as best they can and will continue the training on the march North. We have a thousand calvery that will surely make short work of the barbarians. They are ready to rid north at your command. We have the expiernced troops sailing up the coast to York and the will form the center of the army."

The king nodded and looked over the maps. "Robert the Bruce will not be able to field an army that could ever be a match for this one. We will out number him three to one. He will have no chance at all. As soon as the conscripts are, armed and equiped have them sent on their way north. General you will go with them, and lead them all. I want Robert the Bruce's army destroyed and our army to move north to capture as much territory as we can."

"What of the highlanders your magisty?" the general asked.

"Ha, they will not come down from their presious highlands. Oh a few may but they think they are impregnable in their highlands. We will show them how wrong they are soon enough." The King said and left the room.

Alexandria looked at him and nods."I cannot, for even my ways I am considered a witch and I may burn if I teach other's of my way."Alexandria said and paused she remembers when she had almost burned at the stake for learning the ways of medicine. In her village that was unacceptable and she was proven innocent but marked a witch. Alexandria sighed and breathed in. She searched for his hand."I must have you promise me one thing. If you must go to war. You will take me with you for I could not bare to be away from you.I would rather die at your side then be separated from you."Alexandria said

She played with his hands and trailed her fingers along his.Her blue eye's watched him.She sighed. Would he allow it or deny her that right. She would just follow him any way.

Claire listened and looked away. When they asked about how they met. Claire now really wished her sister was there. She held in to Angus and sighed. Claire hugged his mother and nods."Thank you for your kindness. "She said. She sighed and shook her head."I live your son he has been there for me I know I am not my sister or a Highlander. I just wish to make him happy and hope to be at his side for years to come."Claire said. She looked at Angus and bit her lip.

"Well we will have to see about that. Your knowledge is important and can come in very handy. I will have a talk with the priest and let him know that you will be teaching other women of the clan how to deal with wounds and such. It may one day save many lives." he smiled and chuckled. "Also as Laird of the Clan I can make what decrees I wish. I think or local Priest will not have a problem with it. As for taking you with me if I go to war....." he kissed her, "I would have it no other way." Some of the women followed the men with the wagons that held supplies and tents and extra weapons. They were there mainly for cooking and washing of clothes, chores of camp life so the men could concentrate of the fighting. But he wanted her there with her knowledge and hopefully a few others as well. For after a battle there were many that died of wounds that didn't have to if they had proper care. Duncan could see the need for skills as Alexandria's.

Angus put an arm about Clair and pulled her close to him. "And that I am." he told her. His mother smiled and kissed her cheek. "It matters not if you be lowlander or highlander. I can see you have captured my son's heart and he is happy. Now that all that matters." she chuckled, "You will learn the ways of the highlands and be as bold as any of us. Now who is up for something to eat." At the mention of food the two brothers moved quickly to the table. They like Angus were bear of a man, and could be seen to have taken after their father.

Alexandria kissed him back and sighed. She looked at him when he said he talk to the priest about her. She stopped and looked at him. He would decree that she was no witch. She sighed and moved closer to Duncan.when he said he have it no other way. She kissed him deeply on the lips. She was happy to hear such words come from his mouth.

Alexandria sighed and nuzzels into his side. She looked at him."on last thing my dear I love you. I approve of everything you do. I just may our wedding not be on the same day as the other's. I wanted nothing more then to ve married to a man of your stature. But I want it to be special I understand if you say no. If I never asked I would always be wondering of what could of been."Alexandria said and looked up at him.

Claire smiles at Angus he was so sweet. She leaned into him and nods to his mother. "Thank you very much for your hospitality, but I do not wish to be a Highlander woman in the such I act more boldly then this. I am not my sister and I never will be. I am a lowlands woman and proud to be one. I do not wish to change who I am to be a good wife to Angus should that be allowed. "Claire said.

He lay there and thought. They could have theirs the day before the others. That way they could preside over the entire thing as husband and wife. "I think that can be arranged." He said. "The day before they are all to be wed we shall have ours and preside over the whole affair as husband and wife. Of course it will starting the celebrating a bit early." he laughed, "and most if not all of the Lairds coming will be there for it." It would certainly be a day to remember. He did not think that there had been a gathering of the Lairds like that in the history of the Highlands.

Well Angus didn't even have to ask he to marry him. She had already said yes by the way she was talking and his face again turned as red as his hair and beard. His mother smiled broadly and lovingly at Claire. "Well what ever it takes to make you and him happy is the most important thing." she said. His father looked at Angus and laughed heartedly. "Well me boy, it looks as if we are going to have a bigger family." Angus could only smile and hold Claire to him. It seemed all was settled then, just the date had to be arranged.

Alexandria listened to him and nods her thanks to her soon to be Husband. "Thank you my love."Alexandria said and kissed him on the lips."you are sweet, how may I repay thee? "She asked him. Alexandria watched him as her hand traced over his hands gently. She sighed her heart was content her mind at ease. Alexandria only looked at him with love and care. She thoroughly enjoyed his company. "And thank you for not being superstitious when I did make you well again. "She said.

Claire smiles and nods.to his mother."thank you."She said. She looked at Angus and got up and sat in his lap. She kissed his cheek."no more going wild on me."She says and kissed his cheek again. "Now I guess all that is left is the final asking and the date which I am sure if you asked your cousin we could do it in the day of the other's. "She said to Angus."I could ask my sister, but I think she is not all to pleased with me getting married so young."Claire said.
