By the Kings Order

Alexandria smirked at there conversation and rolled her eye's. She kicked her horse away from them and up by Duncan. "You seem to know me and I seem to know you.so why don't we start over."She said and held her head high.

"I mean by decree we are to be husband and wife. So why shouldn't I actually know the kind if person you are. Aye? "She said she watched him from under her hood. Alexandria was very string willed and only trusted those she watched and listened to. She already disliked Angus and the other's. She was at least trying if he didn't talk yo her this was going to be a long ride. Her chest fell with a heavy breath as she rode next to him."I want to say I ran not because of you, because if me. I am not the best woman to know. I don't listen to orders and I tend to follow my heart and mind. This decree has bit ser right with me."She says

Duncan rode in silence, his eyes on the distant highlands. The talk of his cousin and the others came to his ears on the breeze. He growled at the name MacCain. Indeed it had been a black day for that clan. It no longer existed in the highlands. Their broken word had cost the lives of many men and the McClouds had disowned them as did the other clans. None were there to help them when they were attacked again and again by another clan. They finally packed all they could carry and retreated to the coast and took ships to no one knows. That had been before he had become the Laird. But he had lost a very good friend in the battle that the MacClain's had said they would help the McClouds fight.

When Alexandria moved her horse up next to him asking to start over, he just kept his eyes forward. Then again she tried to explain her actions which only made him more angry. "It matters not why you wanted to run. Breaking ones word is. Aye we are to be husband and wife, but how can I can I trust you know. You have lied and broken your word once and will do it again I am sure. A husband needs trust his wife and the wife her husband. That I canna do now. He was not in the mood to talk. But it seemed she wished it. "As for you knowing me, you do not! You know nothing of me nor of my clan. You think us dogs and barbarians. You have much to learn."

Alexandria glared at him from under her hood."I only was trying to make up for a mistake I made. I am human, but then again those who think of themselves of gods will think less of those who just try."She snapped and kicked her horse into a gallop. She passed him and didn't stop when she heard shouts. She wasn't running off again. Well she was, but not to run away. She was upset and wasn't taking much from her husband to be.

Alexandria was a strong willed girl and was not one to take kindly to accusations even if they were true. She finally slowed a bit and breathed. She pulled the reigns to a stop at a cliff side and breathed. She looked down and slipped off her horse and pet his snout. She looked over the cliff again and stopped her eye's spotted something in the rocks below. it wasn't making sense to her.She went stepped closer to have a look."Jesus marry Joseph. "She said. She went to step back when the cliff gave weigh. She let out a yelp and slid down the cliff face Alexandria grabbed on to the cliff side and stopped herself. She was half way to what she had seen. She let herself slide all the way down she cut up her hands in the process, but didn't care. She dropped to the ledge below and rolled. To her side. She opened her eye's and yelped what she had seen was a dead body in an X upside down bleeding out.She wasn't scared, but definitely a dead body was new to her.

Duncan waved his hands at Angus and the others. "Let her go. She is heading in the direction we need to go. He was not worried about her running off now. He had seen it in her face. She knew she had done wrong and now she was going to have to deal with it. She would have to do something drastic now to gain his forgiveness and as she had put it, start over."

"Well cousin, if she falls from her horse and breaks her neck, then you are off the hook. You have claimed her and you can not be held responsible for her riding off like that and having an accident." Angus tried to cheer him up. But it didn't.

She was now under his protection and if something did happen to her it would be on him. He shook his head and spurred his horse forward. He saw her stop at the top of the deep gully they need to skirt. Then she was off her horse and then waving to them as she began to slide herself down. He rolled his eyes and then put his horse into a gallop and puled up short of the gully. He dismounted and looked down to see her hunched over a dead body. He recgonized the colors of the man's clothing. He was of the King's Messengers. Something was amiss and he did not like it. He didn't wait for his men, who were not far behind. He slid down the dirt and rock side of the gully to where Alexandria and the body was. He could see that the man had been in a fight. He had a number of shallow wounds and a couple of very deep and serious ones. He had put up a good fight, like any good Scotsman would. He was dead and there was nothing they could do about it. Duncan opened the man's satchel he carried and pulled out some documents. He read them over and shook his head.

"The assassins will not be far behind. The will be wanting these for sure." he place the papers back into the satchel and removed it from the body. He had not but slung it over his shoulder then two men came running around a bend in the gully towards them, splaching water from the stream at the bottom as they tried to get to Duncan and Alexandria. He took the satchel off and gave it to Alexandria. "Climb." he told her. "For once do as you be told." he told her and then drew his sword and dagger. The two comming at him were not Scotsmen. They had the air of being Englishmen. With a battle cry he charged them and engaged them in battle.

Alexandria was confused why was this man being strung up. She breathed in and out. Her eye's round. what on earth had she stumbled upon. She stepped back and felt the gully edge"what. What is this? Who do such a thing to a man."She asked. This was the worst, thing to see. She looked at Duncan when he told her to climb. With out hesitation; she turned and started to climb. Up the gully side she slipped once or twice as she looked back. She looked down at him. "Wait are you staying? "She asked. She wasn't about to leave him. She kept climbing though she wanted to turn back. She finally pulled her self to the top. She rolled to her back and looked up as sword pointed in her face. She crawled back a bit. she was dragged up by her hair and yelped. She struggles and elbows her attacker away from her. Alexandria ran and kept running, she vlung to the bag he had give her. she couldn't find Angus or the other's. Alexandria kept looking and ran she hid behind a giant boulder and breathed. She closed her eye's and breathed. Sge went to scream as a hand flew over her mouth. It was Angus, she breathed in looked at him removing his hand "your cousin.he is in trouble. "She said.

Duncan engaged the two men coming at him. They were no mean swordsmen that was for sure, but they were able to hold their own. It was two against one after all and Duncan was using every thing he had learned from his father and others to stay alive. This was not a fight with finese but a cut and slash type battle. But Duncan was the better swordsman and had one down after a few minutes. He had heard the yelp from Alexandria but dared not look up to see what was going on. Angus and the others should be there to help her up. He was wondering what was keeping Angus. He enjoyed fighting more then anything else and it was strange he had not appeared yet. With only one to face now Duncan attacked with a ferocity that the Englishman had not seen before. But it opened Duncan up to an attack that laid his side open. Duncan cursed and made the Englishman pay for it and soon he was down. Only then did he look up and what he saw was not what he wanted.

There were five Englishmen standing there looking down at him. Back at the Boulder Angus let Alexandria go and nodded to the other three. The five English soldiers had moved to the edge of the gully and were looking down. With a grin Angus and the others move from behind the boulder and at a fast walk made for the Englishmen and then with a war cry charged. The five turned to see Angus and the others upon them and the battle was on. Duncan could hear the clash of swords and then one by one the bodies began to fall down into the gully. Then it was quiet and he looked up again and saw the blood splattered face of Angus looking down. "Its about time you big ox." Duncan called out and scrambled up to the top

Blood flowed freely from his wound and after getting to the top and on his feet, Duncan staggared and felt weak. "Your wounded." Angus almost shouted and grabbed Duncan before he could fall and eased him to the ground.

Alexandria waited as she clung to the bag. When it went silent Alexandria peaked around the rock. She heard that Duncan was wounded. She got up and ran to his side."Angus grab me the wine skin and clean cloth. Go now. "She said. She moved angus away and removed Duncan's shirt gently.

She was given the wine skin and poured some in the wound. She had the men hold him so he didn't move. She took a needle from her hair and asked the men to start a fire and heat up the needle to make sure it is clean. then get the thread from her trunk. She waited for the needle and thread and went to work slowly. She had the men hold him again as she poured the alcohol over the wound again and patched him up. She took his dagger and cut the string.

Alexandria sighed and put the clean cloth on his side. Wrapping him up."yeah blood So freaks me out."She said gently and sarcastic. She gave him a small smile. She nods to the men to release Duncan."He needs to rest were not going anywhere for a while. Get him to the fire. To keep him warm."Alexandria said . She looked at them and wiped her hands on a cloth and wrapped her cloak around her shoulders as she sat away from them. She sighed and looked at her hands and tryed to wipe his blood off.

Irish Ice Queen

After Alexandria had stitched Duncan up and Angus made sure he was comfortable by the fire, he fetched a skin of water and too a cloth to Alexandria. "So you not be afraid of blood and can do a fine job of stitching a man up." He handed her the water and cloth and then sat down in front of her. "I thank ye for tending to Duncan. I know you think little of me, but this is the way I am. When I am not helping my father on his farm tending the flock of sheep and cattle or working in the fields, I enjoy my life the best I can. Being out here with Duncan is pure and simple pleasure. Gets me away from the farm and maybe have a bit of excitement, like today." He laid a wrapped bundle on the ground and undid it and there was a nice looking loaf of bread. He broke a good chunk off and handed to Alexandria.

"We've given you a bit of a time haven't we." he grinned. "But that is our way to some degree. All in fun you know. Our women know this and laugh along with us. The ways of the highlands are a bit high spirited perhaps but must live life to the fullest. So take no offense we mean you no disrespect." He looked over at Duncan. "What you did hurt back at your farm hurt him. He is a man of great pride in certain things. He is a Laird with great responsibilities and he can not do what he does with out honoring his word and expecting everyone to do the same." Angus then got up and moved back to Duncan's side.

Alexandria watched angus. Walk over and hand her water and a cloth. She poured it on her hands and thanked him as she wiped her hands off. "No I am not afraid of blood. Why would I be?"She asked."I don't think little if you maybe not high, but definitely bot the lowest form if person on my list."She said and sighed. She handed him back the water and cloth.

Alexandria watched him give her some bread.. she thanked him, but set it next to her. She was not hungry. "I figured you were joking. My funny bone is hard to get to."She said. She sighed. "But I am not him. I have my own standards and he has to respect me as well as them as I would try to do for him. If he doesn't try then I see no reason for me to try."She said. She let Angus go and sighed as she leaned into the log behind her. Alexandria wrapped her cloak around her and starred up at the stars. She sighed and played with the edge of her cloak. She listened to the men. She just didn't care. She was to tired ti care. She curled up and closed her eye's.

Alexandria woke in the morning to first light. She looked around the men were sleeping m she got up and made her way to the river. She wasn't leaving, just cleaning up. She washed her face and hands in the cool water. She watched the water drip from her hands and sighed.Alexandria closed her eye's and sat back on her heels running a hand through her hair. She hated it feeling like a rats nest.

Duncan slept through the time he had passed out from the loss of blood until the next morning. He awoke feeling the pain of the wound and grunted. His hand went to the bandage and moved it over it. He looked around and saw three of his men sleeping. The fourth was up and walking about keeping an eye on things and a watch out for any more Englishmen that might have come north. Angus was the first to awaken after Duncan and he got up and moved over to him. "You gave us a fright yesterday. You know none of us know how to patch someone up. But she did and she did a fine job of it. She knew exactly what to do." Duncan tried to sit up, but Angus pushed him down. "You need to rest a bit more to recover your strength. You lost a nice amount of blood.

"Must get the satchel to the King." Duncan croaked out. "English Plans for invading Scotland." Angus looked at him.

"What plans Duncan?" he asked.

"The one in the satchel I took off the dead messenger." He looked around and did not see Alexandria. "Where is she. She has the satchel."

Angus stood up and looked around and spotted her. "By the stream cleaning up."

Duncan nodded. "Send Daniel north to the King with the satchel The king must be aware of what he will be facing."

"Aye I will. You just rest and I will see to it." Angus woke the others and took Daniel down to the stream with him. "Duncan says you have a satchel with important papers the King must see. Daniel here will take it to the King."

Alexandria heard footsteps and stood slowly. He asked her about the satchel. She nods to him and takes it from around her. She hands it to him quietly.

Alexandria watched them and sighed she walked back up with them. She walked over to Duncan and told him to relax. She went and got some clean cloth. She nods to the men to hold Duncan. She had water and wine and clean cloth. She knelt beside her soon to be husband.Alexandria undid his bandage gently and tossed it to the side she gently looked over the wound."you will be just fine, but no riding for another day or you will open this up again."Alexandria said. She grabbed her pouch and pulled out a green looking sap in a jar. She poured water over to clean the crusted blood away. She gently wiped and poured the alcohol to clean itm she saw him tense and the men strain to hold him.She went about her business and put the green sap on the wound and wrapped it in clean cloth. "Keeps it from getting infected."She said."I had the men warm up a animal hide. She said and walked to the fire.she grabbed the warm animal skin on his wound."there.now rest."She said and nods to the men to let Duncan go. She grabbed her things and went to get up and walk away. She felt a hand in hers. Her ocean blue eye's went from the hand up to Duncan. "Yes?"She asked him. She was confused, did want something or did he want to yell at her more? What had she done now.Alexandria waited silently for his reply.

Duncan laid there as Alexandria removed the old bandage and tended to the wound and rebandaged it. It was quite tender and hurt when she poured wine over it and put some sort of green stuff on it. When Angus and his men had let go of him he looked down at the dressed wound. She was about to leave as she picked up her things and he reached up and took her hand and smiled up at her, "Thank you." was all he could say before again his body made him sleep.

Daniel took the satchel and sling it over his head. "Ride and ride hard. Duncan thinks these papers import and needs to reach the king. It be three days hard ride to Edinburgh. The young man was soon galloping off to the north east and Angus returned to Duncan and saw his hand in Alexandria's. "Ah I see you two have finally made up." he grinned and placed a hand on her shoulder. "You know his mother is going to be all over you for helping him like this." He chuckled. "You're not going to want for nothing with her." Angus then left her with Duncan as him and the other two went down to the stream to see about catching some fish for lunch. They returned later with fish and from the pack horse they retrieved flower, honey and salt, to make some fire cakes to go with the fish.

Alexandria looked down at him and nods."least I could do not a monster. I won't let you die."She said. Alexandria left his hand in hers and stayed sitting by him.She sighed as she watched over him. She took her cloak and covered him gently. He needed it more then her.

Alexandria pulled her hand away as Angus walked over. She looked at Angus as he spoke. "But why? And I already want for nothing."She said m he left her with Duncan and she frowned all she did was patch up a man in need. She was use to it. Her sister had been ill a lot and always seem to be injured so instead if calling a doctor. She learned, what was what and how to take care of things.Alexandria felt Duncan move his hand. She moved from his side to clean the things she used. She went to her horse and looked through her pack and put things away. Alexandria finished and sat near the fire, but still far enough away from the men. She was still not comfortable. Alexandria looked over at the sea her head in her hand as she surveyed the landscape. Alexandria was never, quite. But around the men she had nothing to say.Alexandria shivered, having given her cloak to Duncan while he slept. She wasn't about to move or complain, it wasn't like her to complain out right. She pulled her legs closer, for a bit more warmth.Alexandria hadn't eaten much since they left. She wasn't hungry. She didn't feel hungry.

Irish Ice Queen

Angus brought Alexandria a bowl of fish stew and a couple round fire cakes covered in honey. He also brought her a blanket and put it about her. "Can't having you catching a cold or becoming sick." he told her. He sat down and began eating his food. "You should come join us. After all you are going to be the wife of our Laird and you need to get to know the people you and Duncan rule over." he looked over at Alexandria smiling, "You asked why his mother would make sure you wanted nothing. Duncan is her only son. She loves him dearly and since her husband, Duncan's father died, he is the only thing left of him. Ahhhhhh now there was a love that was strong and enduring. One the story tellers I am sure will make songs and tales about." he laughed. "His father had a temper at times but the soft touch of his mother's hand on his arm calmed him. I have never seen such a thing since."

He looked over at Duncan and shook his head. "He's a good man and has a good heart. Since he has become Laird, the people have come to love him as they did his father. " Angus looked out over the land towards the Highlands. "Talk to him as you would any other. I think once you get to know him better you will see him in a differnt light." When he had finished his meal he rose and took his bowl back to be cleaned and stored.

Alexandria thanked him for the blanket. She put the food down, she really wasn't hungry. She thanked him again and sat back she leaned into the Log.Alexandria listened to Angus talk about love and Duncan's parents. She bit her lip and looked away she hated love stories.Alexandria finally looked back at him."I do not wish to be a tale or in a song. Never was my intention. Like I said I want for nothing already. I am simple as long as there is food on the table I am okay."Alexandria said.

"He may be a good man, but I am not right for him. I'm not the person he wants me to be nore will I ever be."She said. Alexandria watched him finish up and go. She slumped back into the log. She was annoyed more at herself. She looked up to hear hoof beats on the ground. She stood slowly and walked over the blanket around her shoulders. She saw a man and recognized him as he got off his horse.Alexandria pushed past the men and ran to his arms."Uncle so glad you came, but what are you doing here?"She asks.

He smiled. "Ahh my sharp silver tongued niece. I come with some grave news from the village."he said. Alexandria face fell."what is it?"She asks. He looked at the men and pulled her aside he looked at her."your barn and house were burned to the ground. With your mother and father inside. The English said they were committing treason. They have your sister, but what will happen to her. I do not know."He told her. Alexandria couldn't breathe. "Tell me it's not true you are lying. Liar, traitor you promised you protect them.why didn't you stop it?" She yelled at him. He grabbed her by the wrists and pulled her close."I know and I tryed."his grip was tight. She tryed to pull away. "You promised traitor, you be dead right now if you tryed."She said. She saw one of the Highlanders step between her and her uncle. Alexandria actually stood behind them. She moved towards Angus. She would of moved to Duncan's side, but he was asleep.

Irish Ice Queen

Duncan had awoken at the sound of a horse approaching. He propped himself up on one elbow as he listened. A snarl touched his lips as he heard what the English had done. Typical of the English. Raiding farmsteads and killing people to cause fear and anxiety. Hoping that the people would have the King sue for a peaceful solution. Duncan knew what that would be. As the talk between Alexandria and her uncle became heated, he pushed himself up on to unsteady legs and moved towards them. As one of his men stepped between her and her uncle he drew his sword and took a deep breath. "How many and where be they now." his tone of voice was full of anger and his eyes blazed with it. The English had attacked and killed those he was to protect and that did not set well with him.

Her Uncle looked at Duncan, "You are in no shape to be going and fighting."

"The English has killed my wife to be parents and have kidnapped her sister. This...." he touched his side with his free hand, "is nothing for a highlander. Now where be the English filth?" Duncan looked hard and long at the man.

"They are moving south along the old Roman Road. A dozen of them." her uncle said.

Duncan Nodded. "Pack it up boys, we are going hunting." Angus and the others moved quickly and soon everything was ready. "You may come along if you wish he told her Uncle. He looked over at Alexandria, "Cana you use a bow?" he undid his along with a quiver of arrows and handed it to her.

It took a bit of doing but he made it up into his saddle and once seated, spurred his horse south. Depending on how fast the English were moving he hoped to catch up to them before they crossed the boarder into England. He knew his men were behind him, but not sure if Alexandria and her uncle were with them. He was concentrating on what he was going to do when he reached them. He was thinking and almost ran into the group that was on the road ahead of him. He reign in in time. Before him was Connor MacAmally the Laird of the MacAmally clan with one of his sons, and a half dozen men and a young woman that would be the wife to be of his eldest son.

Connor leaned forward in his saddle and looked at Duncan. "Duncan McCloud, now where be you off to like a demon is chasing you?"

The MacAmally's were not on real friendly terms with the McCloud Clan. A problem with a land dispute that was causing a lot of tension between the clans. "Connor." Duncan acknowledged the man. "The English raided the farmstead of my wife to be and killed her parents and took her sister. We be going after them." A pain shot through his side and he doubled over and then gritted his teeth. "Now if ye kindly give us the road, time be wasting."

"You not be in any shape to be fighting!" Connor said as he noticed the blood on Duncans shirt. "But if ye be like your father ...." he laughed. "Well we be with you on it." he turned his horse and the others of his clan did the same and at a gallop the two groups were off.

Alexandria looked at her husband to be.he was in no shape to go racing after the English. Alexandria looked as he handed her his bow and quiver. She had used one on a few occasions. She wasn't supposed to know how. She how ever did and nods to her husband to be.

Alexandria hoped on her horse with a glare at her uncle and rode quickly after her husband to be. She kept up and when they met up with another clan. She looked at Angus for him to sum it up for her.Alexandria watched as they joined them the girl with the other clan was quite and she knew her. Alexandria rolled her eye's m this girls head was empty as a flower pot and knew nothing of the world.Alexandria glanced at her, and kicked her horse to ride up by her husband to be she looked at the other clan with a sharp gaze."who beith you?"She asks her some what friendly demeanor gone now well towards this clan atleast. her uncle had followed and gave her a look.

Irish Ice Queen

Angus had rolled his eyes when Duncan said he was going after the English. His cousin and his Laird was weak and needed to rest more before going into battle. But he knew his cousin was stubbron. He raced after him and rode beside him till they came upon the MacAnallys. Connor was one you did not mess with and he had a temper to. When Alexandria looked to him he knew the look. As they rode he explained. The MacAnallys and McClouds are quarling over some land. Each Clan claims it and it be a nice piece of land with a forest and good land to plant on." he then shugged his shoulders. "But I be guessing the English are a matter that puts such things aside for the time being."

Connor MacAnally rode beside Duncan as they galloped down the road in pursuit of the English and Alexandria's sister. The sun was setting when they spotted the campfire glow in the distance. The English were very sure of themselves for they were still on Scotland soil. As they rode on, Duncan told Connor he would take the right and for him to take his men and go to the left and catch them between them. Connor smiled and laughed. "Aye, that we will." He took his men and moved off to the left and Duncan turned to the right of where the camp was. It was night now when the two groups made it to where they wanted and charged towards the camp.

The English soldiers were drinking and laughing and playing dice to see who would be the first with Alexandria's sister. By the time they heard the horse hooves on the ground and were up drawing weapons, both the McClouds and MacAnallys were upon them. "Angus see to her sister." Duncan called out and Angus turned his horse to place himself between the English soldiers and the girl. Twelve English against 10 Scots, and with Alexandria that made 11 Scots. They stood no chance. Angus was off his horse and standing before the girl when two of the English charged him. Angus was not an excellent swordsman, but he was powerful. His first blow knocked the Englishman back several steps as he turned and cut the second almost in two. Duncan fought from his horse cutting deep into ones head and helping take down another. The battle did not take long. The twelve Englishmen lay dead and Duncan having over done it, slipped from the saddle and fell to the ground.

Alexandria had took her bow and arrows. she notched them and killed two English that were hidden. She was deadly with a bow and showed all the men there she was no flower that had to be protected. Alexandria slipped from her horse and went to Duncan's side."Brancles for brains. You should if stayed out of it."Alexandria said and sighed grabbed her water. She poured it in his face."you need to stay awake.I thank you for saving my sister's life. You how ever have opened up your stitching and I need you awake to stitch it. It may hurt."Alexandria said.Alexandria had the men warm the needle and give her alcohol. She had to pour it in the wound again and take out her thread and sew him up again. She told Angus to give him a drink as she did so. She also had men hold him down. Alexandria hated this but it needed to be done. When she was finished she wrapped his side and sighed. "You must rest, I can't allow you to move yet"she said. She sighed and put her cloak over him again as she went and put her stuff away. She heard a small whimper and tyrned seeing her sister. Alexandria ran and hugged her she gasped. "Your okay. My dear sister.I am so sorry."She said her sister clung to her and burried her face."what will become of me?"She asks. Alexandria hugged her. I do not know, come you must be freezing."Alexandria said and took her sister to the fire and sat beside her.Alexandria let ger lay her head in her lap. She whispered in her ear and ran her hand through her sisters hair. She spoke to her gently.

Angus had cut Alexandria's sister loose after the battle and looked down at the girl. She was a bit younger then Alexandria and had the same good looks. But he had no more time to look or say anything to her. Duncan had slipped from his horse and to the ground. Again he and the others held him down as Alexandria did her work on him. Connor MacAnally watched it all as he posted some of his men on guard duty. He raised a brow at how she had neatly taken out two englishmen with the bow and now tended to Duncan. When she was done he moved up to where Duncan lay. "Aye just like your father, going into battle wounded and winning the day." he laughed and slapped the side of his leg.

He turned to a couple of his other men and told them to make a litter that could be dragged behind a horse. "My Son and I and our men will accompany you back to Castle McCloud." He looked at Alexandria, "I'll make sure he stays on the litter and doesn't try nothing stupid. Wouldn't want you being a widow before your married."

When all was settled down Angus exchanged the cloak for a blanket and brought another blanket and Alexandria's cloak to her. He put more wood on the fire and undid a couple bedrolls for Alexandria and her sister. He had heard what her sister asked and said. "You be coming with us to the highlands and be staying at the Castle with your sister. Your parents land will be seen to and made sure it remains in your family." he smiled at the girl.

Alexandria thanked him and put the cloak around her shoulders. She looks at Connor with a dark look and put her hand on Angus."I need to speak with you." Alexandria said. She did not trust this other Scott's man. Her sister, made a small noise."I will be back. Your safe. If you must go sit near Duncan."Alexandria said abd stood nodding to Connor "make sure you handle my husband to be with care or I will notch arrows in thee."She said and walked away with Angus. She stopped a bit away."I do not trust them and I do not wish to travel with them, but if we must I want you watching him at all times."Alexandria said."Duncan is in no state to deal with them and I will if I have to aye?"She said.

Alexandria sighed and looked at Angus "thank you," she kissed his cheek and walked back for her sister.

Irish Ice Queen

Angus smiled broadly at Alexandria when it seemed she took charge even though she was not married to Duncan yet, she was assuming the mantle of authority. "Aye my lady." he said with reverence and bowed. "But me thinks that Connor is not in the mood or wants trouble at the moment. He be a man to contend with but he like most of the lairds can not abide doing anything when one is in Duncan's condition. It has to do with honor and the like. But I will be on the watch. You go tend to your sister. She seems very distressed and it is understandable. What is her name by the way?"

Connor sat down next to Duncan, "Me thinks you have gotten the better deal in this decree. She seems to be a firey one." he laughed. He then looked over at his son and his bride to be. She sat by the fire and looked scared. Duncan looked up at the big man that Connor was. "That she be." he said. "She has a mind of her own and I think is beginning to warm to to my Clan." he smiled and looked over at her talking with Angus. He raised a brow when he saw him give her a bow, like he was accepting orders from her." He watched her go back to her sister and just laid there watching her.

Alexandria smiles at him Angus had just given her what she wished for.she turned to him."Claire and thank yoy Angus you have given me everything I asked for. I appreciate it and you."She says. She went back to her sister and held her in her lap. She sung her sister to sleep with an old lullabies. She sighed and leaned back. Her eye's landed on Duncan and she sighed. " You should be resting."she said. Alexandria pulled her sister closer and laid back. She wrapped around her and sighed. Alexandria loved her sisterm she kissed her cheek and sighed. Alexandria finally fell asleep by the fire.

In the morning Alexandria woke. She looked around her and lifted her body up. Most of the men were asleep. Alexandria got up slowly. she fixed her hair and went to grab some water from her pack. She walked slowly back to the fire and saw Angus awake. She walked over and sat next to him. "Good morning, have you not rested?" She asked him and gave him some water."you must be thirsty. Here."She said and smiled slightly

Angus took the water and drank some down. "Oh I got a couple hours of sleep. We took turns watching last night, and was my turn again." He looked over at Duncan. "You know he will be wanting to ride. He is hard headed at times. But I think what he did yesterday impressed Connor. Not an easy thing to do but by the way he was acting last night I say he was." Angus then went over to where Claire was gave her some water. The MacAnally's finally started getting up and moving about and packing up.

Duncan woke up and tried to get up by Connor pushed him down. "You lie there on the litter and heal up. We still have things to talk about and you need to be of sound mind to do so. " he walked past Alexandria smiling at her. "Not even married yet and ye taking command of his men." he laughed. "Now that be a rare thing indeed." he shook his head and walked on by.

"I can ride." Duncan said. "I'll not be taken home like this." Againg he tried to sit up.

Alexandria looked at "Connor I will not have my husband to be's clan fall apart nore will I give any of that power to another Clan. I may be a woman doesn't mean I dont have the heart or mind to lead. "She said. She brushed past him and went to kneel by Duncan.

She sighed. "If you must insist on riding home then let me make you comfortable and less in pain or this ride will be longer than anything you have endured thus far."Alexandria said.Alexandria got up and grabbed a few things and came back. She handed him a leaf chew. "This will numb the pain enough for you to ride, dont be getting any Ideas it only works so far."She said as she rebandaged his side and cleaned it out." There should hold till we get to the Highlands, glad to see it isn't infected. Means what I am doing worked."Alexandria said. she sighed and got up slowly. She looked over to Angus and her sister with a sigh. She looked at her soon to be clans men. "Help him up onto the horse no matter what if he refuses your help ignore it. I will not have another stitch busted, because my husband to be can not rest for 5 seconds."Alexandria said and walked for her horse. She repacked her saddle bag and hoisted herself onto her horse.

Claire Thanked Angus and watched her sister. She was still as fiery and hard headed. She drank the water great full for the save. She didn't know her sister could shoot. She was very impressed. She looked at Angus. "You are very Kind I am sorry if my sister causes trouble. She has a mind and will of her own. Sometimes I wish I had more of that." Claire said. Claire looked over at her sister and sighed. "I also do not know how to ride. Like she does I always sit behind her and cling for my life. My dad always said what I do not make up in strength and smarts like Alexandria I make up for kindness and love.Alexandria definitely has the beauty out of the both of us. She is definitely a wild card, one of a kind. Only wish I could be like her at times." Claire mused.
