Fandom Broken Cycle (Legend Of Zelda)

A smile appeared on Kylista's face as the twili spoke. She was definitely more agreeable than the wide one. Her smile quickly shifted to a look of pure shock as Zephale asked her own question. "You . . . Don't know what potatoes are? You poor thing . . . We''ll fix that right up!" She figured that such a delicious food would surely be the first thing introduced to any traveler and the only reason it wasn't used as the basis in all meals was due to the concern of eating all the potatoes in the world. That would be unforgivable. Unless she was the one who ate them all at least.
She felt the need to quickly educate the new twili on the wonders of potatoes. Clearly, she'd been deprived of such things. Tossing a glare back at the man Zephale entered with, she reasoned that he was a dreaded potato hater. There was no other explanation. She pushed into the mess hall and headed straight for the cauldron of stew, talking along the way. "Well, potatoes are the single greatest food in this world. I still can't understand why we don't have any in the twilight realm . . . You can boil them, mash them, fry them, stick 'em in a stew. The possibilities are endless. They even have a defense mechanism by looking like the most plan, uninteresting thing you might ever consider eating, kinda like a brown rock. Oh, and they burrow underground which makes them hard to get sometimes so it's usually best to make someone else get them for you." Arriving at the steaming food, she followed her previous actions of pulling forth two bowls (one for each of them) and filling them with the contents of the cauldron. An extra helping of potatoes followed into each bowl. Hopefully the others wouldn't mind too much.

Holding one of the bowls towards Zephale with magic, she pointed at the chunks of potato within the brown liquid. "There. That's a potato, or part of one anyways. Try it, try it!" She stuck a spoon in the middle of each of the bowls and promptly scooped up a bite and dug in. She whimpered at the intensely hot stew. She'd forgotten just how hot it was in her excitement. Chewing and swallowing quickly, she eyed Trex's table and gave him a wave and a smile, followed by stealing a few of the remaining quartz and dropping them gently into each of the bowls. She stared expectantly at Zephale, silently commanding her to eat, and love, the potatoes.
"You seem to really like potatoes...." Haron said to the Twili to his left as he walked over to get himself some food. Haron had spent a good few weeks on his sister's trail and then a good weak getting here. All in between he'd had no proper rest or even food. He was ravenous and didn't even wait to sit before tearing into his bowl of stew.

"Potatoes are good though..." He added with a mouthful of them.

Zephale

Zephale listened as one does when they have no idea how to reply to someone's ramblings. She nodded slowly, brow furrowed as she tried to process what Kylista had said.

"Like a brown rock.." she repeated under her breath, slightly less enthusiastic about trying this thing called potato. Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew...

She eyed the steaming pot of stew with suspicion as she came to a halt before it. But her gaze was quickly distracted by the bowls floating up to be filled with said stew. How did she get her magic that perfect?! Zephale silently stared at the effortless display of magical prowess, eye twitching.

But she took the bowl out of the air, hesitantly lifting the spoon as she watched Kylista take a bite. She winced slightly, seeing how she realised a little too late how hot it was. She was about to pull her bowl away before she could drop the crystals in it, hissing slightly as they fell in. What the hell? Am I supposed to eat those?

She shot a quick glance at the other Twili, feeling rather uncomfortable at the intensity of the stare directed at her, and slowly began fishing out some of said vegetable. She removed a lump from the rest of the liquid, balancing it on her spoon. She stared at the potato, brow furrowed.

She looked up again as Haron spoke, jumping slightly, not realising he was there, before looking back at the potato. She raised it to her lips, but lowered it again. Up, then down. To eat or not to eat? She noted uncomfortably that Haron was certainly tucking in. Stalling, she looked back up to Kylista.

"I don't know.." she said, looking back down at it. "It looks... Suspicious..."

Tell me your secrets, potato.. The intensity of which she stared at it would be enough to burn a hole in solid stone. But she sighed. Nothing else for it. She shut her eyes and took a bite.

She froze there for a while, face contorting into all manner of shapes. Eventually she swallowed, the rest of her body remaining still. But quickly the rest of the soup followed the potato as she wolfed it down, only just remembering to chew instead of inhale. She looked once more at Kylista, eyes sparkling.

"This is the weirdest food I have ever eaten... And damn it's amazing..."

(Late once more I am. Get better at timekeeping I must :3 Kaelto may/may not follow soon, haven't really got enough to write about him. Waiting for Amice before I continue with Shas.)

"Eep! Potato thief!" Kylista jumped at the same time Zephale did, though much more noticeable. She'd been much too involved with explaining potatoes to her new friend to notice the newcomers presence. She put up her fists in a poor fighting stance and made several jabs in his general direction. "Come on, you potato bandit, you. I'll show you spud justice!" Moments away from delivering what would no doubt be a fatal blow to the poor man before her she abandoned her strike to turn back to the other Twili. "Ahh, come on now. Potatoes aren't suspicious." She chided. "HE'S suspicious." Her slender finger indicated the man who appeared seemingly out of no where. "So eat, and embrace the glory of the potato! We must bring them back to the twilight realm one day. No place should go without them. They're potatobly the most spudlicious food in all the lands."

Kylista went back to staring intently at Zephale as the would be thief was deterred enough to go get his potatoes elsewhere. At the girl's first bite, she smiled wide and found herself nodding to the man's words. "They are aren't they. Exactly why you'd steal them!" She accused the poor man. However, her smile only grew wider as Zephale wolfed down everything in her bowl but the few pieces of quartz. "Sooo . . ." She drew the word out, more than eager to here the opinion, despite the fact she already knew what it was. No one could dislike potatoes. "See?" Kylista asked smugly. "Trust me. I'm an expert on these sorts of things. More?" Without waiting for a response, she filled Zephale's bowl with another helping of stew, extra on the potatoes. "Just make sure the shady one doesn't get your potatoes. Who knows what sick things he does to them." She cradled her own bowl in the nook of her arm, shielding it from view from most everyone else in the room. I'll protect my potatoes. I'll make sure the nasty thief doesn't get his grubby mits on- She froze and looked down at her bowl, finding it empty. "Nooooooooooooo!" The man had succeeded in stealing her potatoes while she was distracted with Zephale. The traces of stew at the corner of her mouth told the whole, tragic story.

Haron was... Well confused didn't even come close as he stared, mouth agape, at the Twili accusing him of...potato... thievery...

"I...uh...what? Thievery? Bu... what?" He asked, still trying to get ahold of the situation.

"You do know that there's more right there... right?" Haron asked, indicating the stew pot. (Unless I'm dumb and they're not near the stew. But I thought I read it that way.)
