She frowned watching the two of them go off just shaking her head. “What job is gonna be looking for you and what family?” She questioned, heading out to the garage with her.

travis frowned but for up and followed anyway. “What’s wrong no-“ he got cut off when Charlieshifted in front of him and turned to attack, realising quickly that he needed to let off some steam so he shifted quickly too and went right back at him.

Max frowned some "I'm a freelance photographer, I didn't have an appointment set up. I could close down my site, I've got my parents and sister...I had planned on taking Travis to meet them." She explained as she walked with her

Charlie shifted and started in on Travis knowing he needed to train but he also wanted to test his strength now that he had his mate. He went in on him growling some as slashing at his chest before he pinned him down growling again aserting his dominance.

Carmen shook her head. “If they’re human they are never to come here. Ever.” She told her seriously. “You ever bring someone here we don’t know about and they will be killed so I make myself clear?” She muttered. “What do you think you need to do to be a good mate?” She asked her.

travis snarled back at him and got him off after just a few seconds, pushing back against him more now until he had Charlie pinned on the floor

Max gave a nod "I wouldn't dream of it." She explained before thinking it over "Well I think it means to be by his side, stand by him through thick and thin. To also keep him safe and protrct him. Like a good wife would do for her husband." She explained to her

Charlie growled trying to overpower him but was only able to after he used all of his force. Travis had always been stronger until he had become alpha. He grunted some and shook his head after he had gotten off of him and made his way to the youngsters

She frowned and watched her "And I hope you want kids because it's also your job to provide him with heirs. Especially is he comes from a line of alphas." She muttered, "Once you start your shift, we start sparring." She told her "Don't worry, I'll take it easy on you." She muttered, taking her back to where everyone else was and frowned seeing Charlie was limping a little, shifting herself and making her way over to him, nuzzling her head up under his chin, about half the size he was but she could always make up for it in speed.

Travis made his way over to Max once he saw her come back to the back yard, stepping up onto the porch with ease, barely a scratch on him now and pressed his head into her stomach. He'd overpowered Charlie that easily now, he would have to wait until after Max's full shift for him to be back to full strength andthen he would have to time it right that the rest of the pack would allow the challenge

Max gave a nod as she listened to her and smiled some at the thought of children. She had always wanted them but Travis never fully seemed like the child type to her. She laughed lightly as they made their way back and smiled some "Thank you for teaching me....it means a lot. I want to make sure I make a good mate for Travis and a good member to your pack." She explained before she watched her go off. She smiled some at the wolf that had pressed himself to her and ran her fingers through his fur already knowing it was Travis by his scent.

Charlie grunted softly as Carmen came over to him limping lightly as he started to heal from his sparring "He is much stronger now....got an upper hand on me " he muttered to her through their connection before he rubbed his face against hers

She frowned some watching him, "Be careful. Please." She told him before she heard Danny call her name and she headed back up to go talk to him, shifting back while Charlie started to run the training properly. "How's he doing?" She asked him, following him inside the house and towards the infirmary.

Travis shifted back and sat down at the table on their porch "Before Carmen came along we didn't have any of this... Sure the second house has a gym in it and everybody kept fit but her pack was destroyed, which is why she goes a little nuts on being ready and organised... What did she talk to you about?" He asked her, pulling her to sit in his lap.

Danny called for Carmen once Pedro had woken up again and walked with her "He is stable, looks like he might have gotten into a fight with anothet wolf. He is healing though which is a very good sign." He explained before he opened the door and let her in.

Pedro smiled wide seeing Carmen come into the room "Carm.....oh its so good to see your face." He said happily reaching out for a hug.

Max gave a nod and sat down with him wrapping her arms around his torso "I can understand that, if I were in her shoes I'd want to make sure my family is protected." She murmured before pecking his cheek "Asked me what I thought it was to be a mate, told me I am also expected to produce heirs for you." She explained biting her lip some "Do you want children? I never got the 'I want children' vibe from you." She said truthfully to him

He frowned. “If I take the alpha position it’s required.” He told her. “I want to be sure we have a stable life before we have pups though.” He explained.

Carmen smiled and hugged him tightly, sitting next to the bed and taking his hand tightly. “Pedro I,.. what happened? I thought you were dead, I waited by the house for a week and no one came by so I assumed everyone had died.” She told him, swallowing back tears.

Max gave a nod and kept close to him "I can get behind that. Why haven't Charlie and Carmen had pups yet?" She asked curiously while she watched Charlie train all of the youngsters

Pedro hugged her before he gave a heavy sigh shaking his head some "I got out by the skin of my teeth. I knew you had gotten out and when I did they were still on my tail. I didn't want to lead them towards you in anyway. I finally lost them two states over and I've been looking for you ever since." He explained to her giving her hand a squeeze "I see you found a mate, Alpha of this pack?" He asked having made the connection between her and Charlie instantly.

He smirked a little and shook his head. “It’s not for lack of trying... look... weres aren’t very good at having children. It’s not easy for any mates. It won’t be for us but she puts herself and everyone else under so much stress that she’s almost eliminated her chances completely.” He told her, “we might have better luck considering you were born human.” He mumbled, nuzzling his face into the side of her neck.

she frowned as she listened just staying close until he mentioned Charlie and she smiled a little. “I got really lucky. I joined a pack a couple counties over from here but they were awful. Tried to force me to mate with one of them which of course doesn’t work.... I came here half dead. Jack found me a couple hundred yards from the house. They brought me here and the rest is history. Charlie took over the alpha position a few weeks later.” She told him. “You will stay won’t you?” She asked him worriedly.

Max gave a small nod and nuzzled him as well keeping close "What happens if they never have any?" She asked running her fingers softly through his hair softly not wanting to move away from him

Pedro nodded some and gave a small smile "I'm so glad you found somewhere." He said quietly but frowned as she asked him to stay "I....I'm not sure Carmen, I can sense I'm not welcomed. I'm okay with being a lone wolf, its worked okay for me so far." He told her trying to sound convincing but in all honesty being out of pack was starting to take a toll on him as a whole.

She rolled her eyes. “If Charlie tries to make you leave I will kill him myself. I can’t lose you again.” She frowned and hugged him again. “Get some rest alright? Please... please don’t leave.” She begged him and kissed his forehead like she always would when they were younger, leaving him to it after that, walking out to the kitchen to find Charlie stood there staring at her. “How’s your leg feeling?” She asked him quietly, pecking his cheek and getting a drink, feeling the worry and stress building again, knowing Charlie could feel it too

He smiled. “Then it would be passed to any children we have.... you want some lunch? You’ll want to build your strength for tomorrow. First shift and all. I’ll be there the whole time I promise.” He murmured to her, standing up with her and took her inside to get something to eat.

Max gave a small nod and got up followimg him into the kitchen "Is it as painful as being changed?" She asked as she looked through the fridge to see what they had to eat.

Charlie walked into the house after he finished training and frowned at Carmen as he made himself a drink "Its fine." He muttered before he chugged his water. The worry of his brother challenging him was creeping up fast and the lone wolf there as well did not help anything. He sighed heavily looking over at his mate and shaking his head some "How is your friend?"

She frowned, stepping over and slipped her arms around his waist. “He’s healing... he’s a good asset to this pack. He was our second best fighter... talk to me baby... what’s on your mind?” She asked him just standing with him in the quiet

travis nodded watching her while he put together a couple sandwiches. “But only the first one is. I’m gonna be there I promise.” He murmured kissing her head. “It’s your bones learning to shift.” Heexplained.

Charlie let his arms go around her and sighed heavily before he took her up to their room so they could talk in private. He never liked venting where people could possibly hear him "Carmen he overpowered me with ease....once she shifts I have a feeling he will be challenging me and I'm not sure if I'll win." He explained shaking his head some "Plus your friend...I don't know him and I'm weary about him and this new girl, I just want us and our future family safe." He explained

Max gave a nod and kissed him gently as he brought the sandwhiches over "Thank you....bones shifting huh? I'm guessing the transition becomes easier with time?" She asked before she started to eat

She frowned and watched him some. “And how many of this pack are going to allow him to be their alpha? They won’t listen to him. He hasn’t exactly proven himself to be useful.” She pointed out. “I can vouch for Pedro? If he’s unsuitable I’ll kick him out myself I promise but he’s like my brother... and he needs a pack.” She told him seriously, sitting on the edge of their bed.

travis frowned. “Yeah. After the first shift everything is okay.” He promised her. “And like I said. I’m gonna be right there.” He promised, looking up when his mother came in and pulled a chair out for her, getting her something to eat and a glass of water as well.

Charlie gave a nod before he sighed heavily placing his head in his hands "He'll ruin this pack if he becomes Alpha. I can't let him challenge me or win." He explained quietly

Max gave a small nod and smiled some at his mother "Hello, how are you?" She asked noticing that she didn't seem as lively as she had the other night when they had first met eachother.

She frowned some and just kneeled behind him, gently massaging his shoulders. “So we aren’t going to.” She promised and kissed his head. “Hey, it was a long week, we got w long day tomorrow, I say we have a nap.” She murmured. “No one has to know.” She murmured pulling him to lay in bed with her.

Travis frowned some getting her a pillow for her back while she was being quiet. “Mom why don’t you go lay down? I can bring you dinner tonight.” He suggested her, taking her back to her room and staying there a minute before going back to max. “She lost her mate, our father, years ago. Most people don’t live very long after their mate dies but she’s cracked on.” He told her.

Charlie gave a groan as she pulled him down cuddling close to her "Mmm alright I won't object to that." He murmured before he started to drift off

Max frowned some and gave a small nod "She must be very special then." She murmured resting her head on his shoulder "Do you ever get a chance to mate again?"

She smiled and gently ran her fingers through his hair soothingly, falling asleep soon after, snuggled into his side.

he shook his head, keeping her close and kissed her head. “No. At least not that I’ve ever heard of.” He murmured to her quietly.

Charlie gave a small smile before he passed out as well. He woke up later that evening and groaned softly holding his head as he felt a headache come over him "Shit.." he muttered

Max went on with him for a couple more hours until it was time for dinner. She started to set up food wanting to show she could make a good mate for him and their pack "Tomorrow could we go to my place and get my things?"

Carmen had left him to rest longer than planned, knowing he needed it sometimes and she'd taken a shower quietly to herself, coming out and looking over at him, "You okay?" She asked quietly, stepping closer and getting changed to go downstairs.

He watched her some as he came back from finishing up with the training and frowned. "What are you doing? I would get out of that kitchen before she comes down." He told her quickly, "A quick sandwich at lunch is one thing but this is Carmen's domain, I don't want her attacking you before you've had a shift." He murmured, tugging on her arm gently

Charlie shook his head some and gave a heavy sigh "No my head is starting to hurt." He mumbled reaching out for her just wanting her close

Max frowned some watching him a bit "Oh I was.....I was just trying to show I can do things too." She explained before giving him a quick kiss and putting everything away leaving the kitchen with him "So can we get everything soon?"

She frowned, slipping her hair back and moved to sit with him, pulling him to lay between her legs, gently massaging his temples "I was thinking, do you wanna tell the boys about the pizza night later?" She asked him, kissing the top of his head.

He nodded and pulled her into his side while he grabbed their coats, passing her one and took her outside to go for a walk, "Course we can, see how you feel tomorrow though, depends how early you get sore love." He murmured, "Might want to wait until the day after."
