He frowned and said nothing until their mom came downstairs and told Charlie to leave him alone for now, letting her help him up to his room and get his lights out for him as he lay in bed groaning some, falling asleep.

Carmen was finishing up her bath by the time Charlie came upstairs, getting out and letting the water drain, going to get into pjs and ignoring Charlie while she lay down, facing away from him, still annoyed with him and just sighed quietly, feeling the bed dip beside her.

Charlie came in after his mother had made him leave and sighed heavily as Carmen ignored him. He stripped down to his boxers and layed next to her having his back facing away from her as he fell asleep

Max woke up the next morning and frowned some having not slept well at all. Something felt very off to her at the moment but she didn't know why

Carmen woke up early as usual, getting up and heading downstairs to get started on breakfast for everyone, looking up when Carlie came in from the back door "Early run?" She asked him, reaching out for him. she'd calmed from last night and she was never able to stay annoyed at him for long, pulling him in close to her side for a moment "Go shower then come get some food.

Travis woke up frowning some, feeling like he'd been hit by a truck and tried to get up carefully, his whole body shivering despite his temperature being sky high and rather than calling Max he only managed to lay down in his bathroom and press his cheek to the cool tile, shaking and struggling to breathe.

Charlie had woken up before the sunrise that morning and decided to go on a run to clear his head. He walked in a few hours later and looked at Carmen giving a small nod "Yeah...needed to clear my head. How did you sleep?" He asked softly as he wrapped his arms around her kissing her temple gently .

His mother had come in to check on her son and talk with him about the situation but when she found him barely breathing on his bathroom floor she quickly yelled for Charlie and ran to find him

Carmen smiled a little and shrugged. “No nightmares. Just bad dreams.” She told him. “Could’ve been worse. Now go shower you stink of sweat.” She teased him, looking up when she heard his mother yelling for him though, turning the stove off and rushed to get up there with him.

travis was in and out for a while, seeing different people over him several times and occasionally hearing his phone ringing with Max’s ringtone, at one point noticing he’d been moved to his bed, coming around to find his mother crying and he was still struggling to breathe.

Charlie gave a small nod and chuckled some before he heard his mother. He quickly rushed to her and followed her to Travis' room telling Carmen to go get Jorel, their doctor, while he looked his brother over. He shook his head some and moced him when Jorel told him to before he went out to talk with him

His mother sat there crying as she looked over her eldest son holding his hand "You have to change her Travis.....you'll die if you don't." She whispered to him

He grunted some passing out again while Jorel took Charlie to the side. “He needs her here. I understand he’s looking out for what she wants but if she doesn’t fully mate with him he’ll be dead within a couple days.” He told him seriously.

Carmen sat on the edge of the bed, gently dabbing his forehead with a wet rag to bring his temperature down some. “Where’s his phone?”

His mother gave her his phone and sighed heavily "She has called multiple times..." she murmured quietly before she held her son's hand again

Max frowned as she finally saw Travis' name pop up on her phone "Trav? Babe are you okay?" She asked worriedly

Charlie gave a heavy sigh and nodded some "Lete just hope she doesn't reject all of this when we tell her." He muttered

She frowned shaking her head. “Hey. You know how to get up here to his place? Cause you need to come here. Right now.” She muttered shaking her head some. “He needs you.”

he shook his head. “Look I’m gonna be honest and point out to you that even if she accepts, at this point it might be too late.” He told him. “But her accepting is the only chance he has.” He told him. “Call me back if he needs mre pain management.” He told him.

Max frowned some and gave a nod "Okay I'll be there quick." She said grabbing her things and rushing out to the house. She made her way out there thankfully not getting lost. She knocked on the door and looked at Charlie as he opened the door "Take me too him please."

Charlie sighed and gave a nofd "Yeah will do." He muttered before he went to the door hearing a knock. He frowned when he opened the door seeing Max there "Follow me." He muttered taking her up to Travis' room

Carmen frowned watching her come in the room. "Sit down. Do you know what we are?" She asked her, wanting to know how much he had told her before she let her close to him in the state he was in.

Travis was half conscious at this point but he couldn't move or speak, hearing Max's voice but not able to turn to look at her or let her know he was still there. He never wanted her to find out this way and he was expecting to have another few months before having to decide at least but the argument with Charlie the previous night had drained the last of his energy,

Max frowned as Carmen stood in her way from getting towards Travis "You're his sister in law, what is wrong with him?" She asked trying to push past her and get to Travis. She had this immense need to be right by his side right now.

Charlie frowned some and shook his head giving a heavy sigh as he stood next to Carmen "Max...we need you to sit down okay? There are some things you need to know right now before you see him." He said sitting with her and giving a heavy sigh "We are wolves....your kind like to call us werewolves but we just prefer wolves." He explained sighing again

Carmen frowned some, pushing her back and made her sit down, "So is Travis... This is a pack." She told her seriously. "And when we find our mate... That's it... That's our mate for life. We need them to survive and without them... Rhings tend to go bad pretty quickly. That includes if your mate rejects you. Which is what you've done to Travis by telling him you wouldn't want to live here with him. He belongs with his pack. He's dying because of you right now. The only thing we can do to help him is turn you into a were yourself.... You'd be bitten not born, not as powerful but you'd still get some benefits... and more importantly you'd get to live with Travis and save his life." She told her seriously as they started hearing weird noises coming from him while he was still trying to breathe.

Max looked at them like they were insane and shook her head some "You're all crazy! Just let me see him damn it!" She said pushing past and rushing to Travis looking him over letting a few tears fall when she felt pain rush through her "Trav? Oh god Travis...." she whispered taking his hand in hers as she watched him

Charlie sighed heavily at her reaction and shook his head some "Shift....show her." He muttered to Carmen letting her go to Max and followed behind after Max screamed when she saw the wolf "This is Carmen....Max look I know this is a lot to take in. My brother didn't want to tell you like this but if you love him and you want him to live.....you'll have to change. It will be painful but I can do my best to make you as comfortable as possible." He explained

She frowned some as she watched her, knowing the feeling all too well from times Charlie had been taken out protecting their pack, especially in the beginning, but nodded and stepped in front of the woman, crouching and shifting, rolling her eyes when she screamed, just padding back over to her own mate and rubbed up against his legs affectionately.

Their mother came back into the room frowning some "Stop asking her and just do it for crying out loud." She snapped at her youngest son, shaking her head a little and went to sit by Travis with a fresh bowl of water to help cool him down.

Max frowned more as his mother came in, however when she looked at Travis she knew she couldn't live without him. She looked to Charlie and gave a small nod letting him get it done for her.

Charlie sighed heavily shaking his head at his mother. He knew Travis would never forgive him if he changed her without her okay. He gave a sogh of relief when she okay'd it and quickly got her to lay next to Travis before he leant down and took a chunk out of her throat

Carmen grumbled, walking out of the room and shifted back, heading downstairs to see if anyone had cleared up from breakfast, frowning when it was all still out and she looked at Josh and Danny on the couch "Is that gonna clean itself?! Do I look like I've had time to be down here cleaning?!" She snapped at them a little "Come on, hop to it." She muttered, shaking her head some and going to get a few logs in from the shed so they could light a fire that evening.

Travis was starting to feel better and he found he could breathe within an hour, another two and he was starting to wake up, still feeling a little like he'd had the flu but a lot more alive than he had been and he started realising what must have happened, just looking over at Max laying with him, frowning some "I'm so sorry... I didn't want to tell you like this." He murmured, reaching out to cup her face gently.

Charlie sighed heavily and got downstairs frowning when he saw the place a wreck "Don't fucking sit there get up!" He yelled to them seeing as they were still sitting after Carmen had told them to get up.

Max lay there in agonizing pain a fever breaking out over her. She smiled lightly at him panting softly as he cupped her cheek "Hey.....its okay...you're okay now thats what matters." She said quietly before she pecked his lips some "Is it always this painful?" She asked quietly

He frowned and shook his head. “It’s because I’m sick... one of the ways mates are connected is through physical pain.. as a were you will f el this stronger.” He mumbled holdingrr her to him and trying his best to soothe her.

Carmen got back in shivering a little and went to find Charlie in the basement, slipping her arms around him from behind, kissing the back of his shoulder. “You doing okay?” She asked him quietly

Max gave a small nod and curled into burying her face in his chest "I love you.." she whispered before started to fall asleep completely worn out from the change and now feeling everything Travis did.

Charlie felt how cold she was and pulled her close to get her warmed up "Yeah just....a new mouth to feed, new trainee....not to mention Travis has a mate now...what if he tries to challenge me?" He rambled all of his thoughts just coming out all at once

She frowned, gently cupping his cheek and making him look at her "My job to worry about the logistics alright? You worry about training her and if your brother tries to challenge you... I highly doubt he'd win this time... He never has." She pointed out to him, kissing him gently, "I love you, no matter what happens ever, I love you and you mean everything to me you know that? Not just because you're my mate either." She murmured. "I'm gonna go down into town, get my nails done, I'll be back this evening okay? Call me if you need anything." She murured, pecking his cheek and headed out.

He frowned when he was being woken up late into the afternoon with someone shaking him, looking up and seeing Max's face above his looking like she'd been given an injection of caffeine "Hey... New senses kicking in huh?" He chuckled quietly, gently pulling her to straddle his waist a little.

Max had woken up later and quickly shook Travis awake smelling and hearing things she had never been able to before. She gave a nod and smiled wide at him as he pulled her to straddle him "Yeah....its like...I hear everything." She said giving a small laugh before she leant down and kissed him lovingly

Charlie gave a heavy sigh and nodded some kissing her gently "I love you too Carmen, more than anything in this world." He murmured before he went upstairs with her and walked her to the door "Be safe out there okay? I love you." He said before letting her go off

Carmen smiled and gave his hand a squeeze, heading out quietly to go into town and get a few errands run.

Travis smiled watching her "Mmm... Steady, it'll take a minute to get used to it alright? I think probably first things first let's get you some food... And me... I haven't eaten since last night." He mumbled, sitting up carefully and started to head downstairs with her, leaning up against the wall by the time they got down there, having to take a minute to steady himself before going to the kitchen

Max gave a small nod and got up with him "I'm starving." She whispered before she helped him down the stairs frowning as everyonenstared at the two of them. There were more people there now and she guessed they had been from the other houses Travis had mentioned "Are they apart of your pack too?"

Travis nodded some and managed to get sat down in the kitchen nodding to her, thanking one of the youngsters as they passed him some water "Thanks... Yeah, this is our family." He told her quietly, "there are ten, well... eleven of us now." He told her, frowning when Charlie walked over to them and pointed at the stairs, "Charlie, come on, I'm fine I can be down here." he muttered, standing up and trying to prove to him he was fine again but stumbled and had to grab the counter to stop from falling over.
