Futuristic Brain Burger

"Nathan. You should honestly get back to bed..." Norman said to him after watching him stumble to the counter.

"I'm fine..." He spluttered, Norman stood up and walked over to him, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"You're not. I can see that..."

"I'm FINE!" He said as he shoved Norman's hand away and stormed out of the room; he walked through to the gym with the mindset that he was going to prove further that he was ready to start moving about and helping out again, but Norman was quick to follow him - interrupting Belinda and Tony's little sparring session, Nathan stumbled in with Norman charging in a few seconds after. Nathan frowned and ignored him as he went over to the weight rack and inspected them for a moment.

"Nathan. Don't even think about it, kiddo." He said to him, Nathan grunted and picked up some of the lighter weights so that he didn't overwork himself.

"I said I'm fine..." He muttered to him, Norman sighed and walked in further, sitting down on the weight bench and leaning forward, wiping his face with his hands before looking up to Tony and Belinda.

"Good morning." He said simply. (@firejay1)

"Morning, "Dying."" Belinda said with a shrug, moving back as their sparring session was interrupted. She made no move to continue her previous training.

Tony smiled and went over next to him. "I know you're fine and all, but you sure you don't want to rest. You did spend most of yesterday throwing up and passing out."

He said nothing to Belinda. He looked up at Tony and shook his head, sighing. ".. I'm just fine--.. My head hurts, but I'm okay..." He said as he lifted one of the weights for the third or fourth time; it was then that his arm gave away and it fell to the floor, and he almost when along with it. "For Christ sakes!" He tossed the other weight down onto the floor and then sat on the bench that was adjacent to Norman's; his hands and arms were shaking and he looked pale, but at least he was up. (@firejay1)

Tony smiled at him gently and sat down next to him. "It's okay to not always be fine, you know. That's why we're all here: to take care of you when you need to lean on us."

Belinda smirked and said, "Here's a tip, kid: no one believes you when you say "I'm fine" after you spend the last two days crying, throwing up, passing out, and in general displaying symptoms of: "I'm Dying, Just Kill Me Already"." In truth, she was concerned, but acting macho was, to her knowledge, not the best way to go about living after 48 hours of all of the above. She'd never been one to hold her verbal punches.

".. I'd hate to be an inconvenience." Nathan said to Tony, looking across at her and smiling. He then looked to Belinda and took a deep breath. "Well, it didn't stop you, did it?" He said boldly to her, hinting at how she was on death's door several days ago after getting stabbed; he didn't mean it out of a offence, and it sounded more as if he was stating a fact rather than trying to insult her. (@firejay1)

"You're not an inconvenience at all." Tony said, gently. Then laughed. "Actually, it's less of an inconvenience when you stay in bed."

Belinda let Tony finish before starting. "Big difference there, Dying. I was stabbed once and got a mild concussion. I spent most of the two days after that in bed eating mild foods and drinking tons of water through a straw. I didn't throw up or collapse in the shower. I definitely didn't start crying and screaming "I'm dying!"" Her snarky response was just the way she spoke, she wasn't trying to offend him. At least, not anymore than she ever tried offending people. It was true that her hands were still covered in scabs, but those were minor, outside wounds. "More importantly, I'm up here to try to regain my physical strength so I can go back out there as soon as possible. I'm not trying to prove anything." The last statement was pointed.

Stewart wakes up,

"A-Am I freakin tucked in?" Stewart found this quite the anomaly since he never tucks himself in. Either way, he gets up and gets his clothes on, then he walks out into the hall which is when he notices Clary,

"Hey, Clary." He says as he walks over.

(@Vaila)

"Tony's right though, Nathan... We're here to take care of ya' - That's sorta' what we do for each other 'round here." He said softly as he lied down and began lifting the weights that were above him on the bench. "Whether it be feedin' you soup, givin' you water, medicine - Jesus, maybe even makin' sure your pillow and bed are comfy enough at night. We ain't all here to sit around and let you hurt yourself, y'know?" He said, continuing to lazily lift the weights up and down. "Heh. After that statement, I think we should be a post-apocalypse Motel, or somethin' - that'll be our motto or greetin' sentence for guests." He smirked and gave a quiet exhale of a laugh for a moment.

"Whatever, Norman..." Nathan said, shaking his head with a smile that sort of said 'you can't be serious'. ".. Besides... You're too busy doin' other stuff, man." He said to him, Norman briefly shook his head.

"In what way?"

"Well... You're busy makin' sure we don't get killed for one, you're talkin' to most the people that arrive here, sittin' up most nights to make sure nothin' happens, then you're busy worryin' about everyone else here." He stated, Norman remained silent for a moment and then shook his head once again.

"Heh, I just care about people, pal... If it means makin' life that little bit more normal or enjoyable for someone then yeah, consider me busy." He said, struggling to merely shrug under the weights. Nathan sighed and glanced at Tony, followed by glancing over to Belinda once again.

"My name's Nathan. If you could refer to me as that rather than 'dying', it'd be appreciated. Because I'm not dying, and hopefully that ain't gonna' happen too soon, either." He said to her. (@firejay1)

"If you say so, Dy- I mean, Mr. Nathan." She emphasized the last two words just to be annoying. "So, are you planning to stay here taking up space trying to prove you're not dead? A fact we already know, I might add." She pulled out her combat knife and began flipping it blade over handle in her hand.

Tony shot Belinda a glare, not liking the older woman's attitude, before turning back to Nathan and Norman. "Yes, Norman. You have been busy. You've been so busy taking care of us that you've left Nathan by himself. It's alright. We don't need a father figure. Just focus on being a good older brother." She said smiling at him, hoping he wouldn't insist that they really did need a father figure and Ash especially totally needed him, because as far as she was concerned, Ash was her responsibility, not Norman's.

He instantly dropped the weights onto his chest and let out a splutter before throwing the weights off of him - the bar and weights went down with a slam and he quickly stood up, speed-walking out of the room and going upstairs without any words. It didn't take much to realize that he was upset, angered, or offended in one way or another; he went to the Dispatcher's Office and slammed the door shut after almost charging past all of the other rooms. I think it would have been safe to say that the gym room would have fallen silent for a few moments - Nathan sighs and places the tips of his fingers on either sides of his head, closing his eyes.

"I'm thinking." He said simply, shaking his head while doing so. "Yeah. I'm not gettin' involved with whatever the hell that was." He said, slowly standing up and going to the window; he leaned forward onto the frame and peered out at the blizzard-like weather. (@firejay1)

Tony rolled her eyes. "I'll bet it was something like "no goddamn appreciation"" She quoted Nathan from before. Wagging her finger at him, Tony told him, "You brothers get mad so easily." She said it gently, to show she meant no harm by the comment.

He didn't laugh but didn't look angered by the comment either. He looked more upset by it, but not upset to the extent where he was offended. He shrugged and took a shaky breath in through his nose. ".. I guess we do..." He muttered softly, still staring out at the snow. He shakes his head and sighs again. ".. I'm guessin' Norman never told you what life was like for us... Before all of this, I mean." He said softly, leaning over slightly more and crossing his arms; he placed his head atop his arms but didn't move his eyes from the window. (@firejay1)

"He told us about having to become a father for you and all that." She shrugged. "Doesn't that mean he should be more calm and responsible? Not always angered by every little thing?" Belinda listened in silence, melting into the background as the two teens talked. It didn't make sense to Tony. She shook her head in some frustration, not joking anymore.

"Yeah, I know... Norman's weird like that... There's more stuff that he didn't mention to you, but... I ain't gonna' be the one to explain all of that. Sometimes he'll just get... Angry or upset, or offended, I don't know - just by one thing... He can't help it, it's just... He's just--.. He doesn't talk much about how he feels about things." He said softly, shaking his head. "I'd go and talk to him, but this sorta' thing was always somethin' that happened to him, on good or bad days. He just locks himself away for a while and just... He just sits there quietly, to be honest." He explained to her, sighing once again thereafter. He turned away and walked to the door, looking back at her for a moment.

"I'm... I'm gonna' go and... Um... I'm gettin' somethin' to eat... So... If you need me I'll be in the kitchen..." He mutters before wandering out and to the kitchen area where he just sat at the table. He didn't get any food like he said he was going to. He just sat there with a cup of coffee which he poured for himself when he first entered. (@firejay1)

Elizabeth slowly started to stir from her sleep, yawning slightly and uncurling herself from her cocoon of blankets and getting up to change her clothes quickly so she wouldn't get too cold and decided to go check on Brianna and Annie. Jogging slightly to warm herself up, she made her way to Brianna's room when she heard a slam of a door and stopped. Brianna slowly wakes when she hears the door slam and looks up as she sees Elizabeth and blinks slightly at her. Elizabeth looks at her and shakes head to say she doesn't know and decides to go see what the door slamming was about. Brianna gets up and yawns slightly before pulling on a large sweater and sweats before making her way downstairs to the kitchen where she found Nathan. (@DrTrollinski)

Annie hasn't slept for a few days now, still busy, working away on her mechanical arm, moved rooms so that Hunter could get some sleep and so she could have a bit of space while she worked. The two still haven't spoken since she had brought up Sara and she wasn't about to make nice when she was so close to finishing her new arm. (@Huntrey)

"Oh... Hey, Brianna." Nathan said softly, giving a gentle smile at her as he sipped on his coffee.

Elizabeth would have seen that the door-slamming would have been the door of the Dispatcher's Office. (@Soul OMU)

Brianna nods and starts making some soup and some tea for herself and Elizabeth. "Hey Nathan, you seem to be doing much better today, that's really good." she said and gave him a smile back.

Elizabeth makes her way over to the Dispatcher's Office, knocking softly. "Norman...?" she said softly.

".. Yeah... I'm feelin' a bit better today. I can walk, so that's a start." He chuckled softly and smiled at her.

---

"What." He called out to her, grunting as he done so - it was clear he was moving something or carrying something heavy just by how his voice sounded. (@Soul OMU)

Brianna smiles a bit. "That's good to hear." she said while stirring the pot slowly while waiting for her water to boil.

---

Elizabeth stays by the door, leaning against it. "You alright?..." she asked softly. (@DrTrollinski)

".. Did you sleep alright last night? We don't know how long it was snowin' for so it got pretty cold." He stated to her, scrunching his face up slightly as he took a sip of the bitter cup of coffee that he'd prepared for himself. His free hand tapped softly on the surface of the table.

--

"Just PERFECT!" He called out to her. "I'm just--.." His voice weakened. ".. I'm gettin' rid of the stuff that ain't needed." He finished, letting out a heavy sigh as he dropped an object on top of another one, creating a large thump. (@Soul OMU)

"Oh hey Stew," Clary said, looking up at him. "What's up?" she asked, crossing her arms to keep from fidgeting. (@Stew)

Stewart glances back at his room door,

"Uh, did you see anyone go into my room last night? I woke up and I was tucked in." He rubs the back of his neck.

(@Vaila)

Brianna nods. "Yeah, I slept fine. In Illinois we get pretty bad winters too... Probably cuz we're so close to Canada." she said in amusement while pouring herself some tea.

---

Elizabeth blinked slightly as she got off the door. "Do you need help?" she asked softly, worried slightly. (@DrTrollinski)

"Yeah, but we never usually get snow this early in New Hampshire." Nathan said to her, shrugging.

--

"Christ--.. Yeah, sure! Come on in and see the shit WE DON'T NEED." He called out to her, kicking one of the objects that was on the ground while he walked over and threw the window open. (@Soul OMU)

Brianna sits down with a bowl of soup, two spoons and her tea. "Then we're in for a heck of a ride..." she said while sipping her tea.

---

Elizabeth lightly pushes open the door, looking at him. "Norman." (@DrTrollinski)
