Futuristic Brain Burger

"Heh, nah. He was just fuckin' with us on our first day here, that's all. He gave us trouble before we finished him. It was lucky we saw you gettin' carried in though." He said to her. (@firejay1)

"Maybe...." Belinda said, doubtfully, reverting to quietly eating her soup. She didn't want to pursue that chain of thought. "So, how many people you got here? I seem to keep meeting new ones."

"Most of 'em via radio, I think Elizabeth's the only one who didn't get here by radio, she was the first person to stumble into me and Nathan a day after we moved in here." He said softy, setting the black plastic bag down on the nearby table. (@firejay1)

Belinda raised her eyebrows as if she really really cared and was shocked by the information. "Wow. What a stunning story." She said in mock melodrama.

"Oh, right. Yeah. Nathan went and helped save his ass and then had him at gunpoint for an hour." He chuckles awkwardly. "The kid was on edge." He added.

Noah had left the room not wanting to intrude any longer. He walked back to his room without bothering closing the door. He wondered how long this temporary location would last. He knew better than to get use to one place. Life was movement. They couldn't stay here permanently, that was a certainty. But for now, he would enjoy it. He mentally noted to go and talk to Norman for arrangements. He didn't understand how come that man just simply accepted to keep them there without anything in return. Something was off if that was the case. Noah never accepted such kindness because it always hid something.

Noah pulled out a chair and sat on it turned around. He could see his sister in pain. What happened back at the drug store was still on his mind. How he had killed a whole family just to save her. Was it wrong? He didn't think so. They tried raping her and he witnessed it. The woman with them, the supposed wife, seemed to be just a pawn that lead people into their trap. It hasn't even been a few weeks and people were already disgustingly filthy. He despite it.

(I stayed up for four nights in a row recently. Bad move. I'm still recovering. Night!)
"So. Where are you gonna' be goin' once you leave?" Norman asked her while watching her eat; he plays about with the small black plastic bag on the table for a short moment. (@firejay1
(@32sillylight32 You around?)

Belinda looked at him in surprise honestly having not thought about it at all. "Wandering." She told him seriously. "Just wandering. Like I've been doing since the beginning." (@DrTrollinski)

She nodded. "Yup. That life suits me best. I can't stay with large groups."

Belinda looked straight at him. "You really weren't listening when I was yelling at "Pedo" were you? My dad was a serial killer. He would lure women home, take them to the basement and dissect them alive. When I was little I didn't know. As far as I knew my family was perfectly normal, excluding my mom being obsessed with my ability to defend myself, hence the knives. But I saw it once. I watched him do it. Watched the knife slide through the woman's skin so softly, gently, almost hypnotizingly slowly, and the terror in her eyes as she stared at my father's demented ones. People realize I'm from that kind of a bloodline, it sows the seeds of doubt. At first they're fine with it, then something happens and the next thing you know, they all have their guns pointed at poor innocent little me with nothing but my knives. Besides, it's hardly like I have ever had any reason to trust again." Not when the last person I trusted betrayed me too. She thought to herself. "Even the most normal looking ones can hide terrible secrets." She shrugged, pulling her push dagger out of its holder and tracing patterns against the table.

He'd remain silent for a moment, followed by sighing. ".. I feel like sayin' I understand what it's like, but... I don't. I'm so sorry, that just sounds... It sounds horrific. My father was an alcoholic, most I ever saw was him and my ma' hittin' each other, but he died in a drunk-drivin' accident a month after Nathan was born - I had to be the kid's father, but... It ain't the same, but I killed my mother a week after all this started - I had to do it." He remains quiet for a moment and looks down at the bag, rubbing the side of his face before looking back to her.

".. I'm gonna' be a daddy soon, Belinda. Not just--.. Not like I was for Nathan. Like... For real this time... I don't know what your reasons are to not trust anyone, but... We've got people here who never trusted us, we never trusted them, but over time we realized that whatever we had to hide sorta' showed in the way we acted around others, the way we did certain things - They all trust us now, and I can assure you if you ever came back or you ever just wanted to stay... We wouldn't screw you over. That's a promise I make to everyone, includin' myself." He said with a nod, leaning against the table that has the plastic bag on it. (@firejay1)

Belinda grinned at him, then threw her dagger upwards, and as it fell, smacked it on the handle, so it went whizzing a foot past Norman, thunking into the wall a fair ways behind him. "Some of the people here came in later than I did. I hate it when people make promises they're not sure they can keep." Finishing her soup, she put the bowl away and retrieved her dagger. "Good luck with keeping a group this large together for longer than a month." Without another word, she went back to the gym.
