Ghenitus
1x08_War_for_Olympus_Mount_Olympus_9.png

Ghenitus stood as a breathtaking marvel among the towns of the East Empire, perched high upon a rugged mountain. The city boasted a natural waterfall cascading gracefully from its peak, its waters flowing down from the base of a grand palace—an opulent residence of the local proconsuls. The palace itself, like a crown atop the city, glistened in the sunlight, its polished marble reflecting a legacy of power and authority.

The architecture of Ghenitus was reminiscent of ancient grandeur, with towering marble pillars supporting the structures that lined the city’s steep, winding streets. Everywhere one looked, there was an elegance that spoke of meticulous craftsmanship. The buildings, all of pristine white marble, were adorned with intricate carvings depicting scenes of conquest and myth, a reminder of the Empire's might and cultural sophistication. Among these structures, one stood out in particular—the city’s vast library. It sprawled across a sizable plaza, its colonnades inviting the scholarly and the curious. Gigantic marble bookshelves filled the interior, brimming with countless volumes of knowledge, their spines worn from years of study and reverence. It was a sanctuary for the mind amidst a city otherwise braced for war.

The streets of Ghenitus bustled with life, though the air was thick with an unspoken tension. Merchants haggled, children played, and citizens hurried along their daily routines, yet there was a palpable heaviness. Beastkin, shackled and subdued, moved among the crowds, a stark reminder of the Empire’s rigid social hierarchy and its relentless pursuit of dominance. The recent joint military ventures with their once-bitter enemy, The See, had left their mark. The alliance had come at a steep price, born not out of friendship, but out of necessity. Their common enemy, The Hive, a swarm of monstrous insects bound together by a twisted unity, posed an existential threat. The bugs, as they were contemptuously called, had carved out a domain of their own—'The Hive Nation,' though many would scarcely dignify it with the name of a nation. For now, the threat was dormant, their Queen slain, but the East Empire’s military leaders were not content to wait for the next eruption of conflict. They sought to cull the Hive, to press the advantage, and ensure the bugs would never rise again.

Ghenitus had been selected as the rallying point for this bold campaign. The city’s tall, imposing walls bristled with the preparedness of war. Atop them stood Centurion Alexas Maximus, a striking figure in the scarlet and gold armor of the legion. Though young, she commanded a presence that belied her years, her blue eyes sharp with determination as they scanned the distant horizon, where the unseen Hive stirred. Behind her, ranks of legionnaires stood at attention, their spears and shields polished, their crimson capes fluttering in the mountain breeze. The rhythmic clinking of armor was the only sound, as they waited, taut with anticipation, for the order to march.

The Legion

But the legions were not alone. The East Empire Adventurers' Guild had issued a call, a plea for reinforcements to join the military in this audacious operation. The Empire was no stranger to war, but this was different—an open call to those who would dare tread where even the disciplined ranks of soldiers hesitated. Adventurers, mercenaries, and warriors from distant lands had begun to trickle into the city, answering the summons. And so, Centurion Alexas stood at her post, watching the road below, her gaze unwavering. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm, orange glow upon the city walls, but her eyes were fixed firmly on the eastern expanse, towards the desolate lands claimed by the Hive. In that moment, the air was thick, not with dread, but with anticipation—a promise of what was to come, a storm of steel and fury poised to descend.

The journey was long and arduous. Traveling from the North side of the Kingdom of Rotia all the way to the East Empire... Was challenging to say the least. Surviving the harsh conditions while traveling through Rotia was more than hard enough as it was, all the while trying to evade the militia and the common folk of the country, not risking the chance that they may bring him back into active duty, now that he can again be capable of being in a war zone. But regardless, getting out of The Kingdom was the first step to freedom of any kind, as far as he was concerned.

Joshua's small size, relatively quick pace and his lack of need for food or sleep played a big part in being able to make this journey in the first place. Being able to take paths "normal" sized people could not, being able to travel both day and night, not needing money or using his time to obtain food. All were massive advantages to his little journey. If there was one thing he was concerned about, it was his inability to stop the flow of time itself. Honestly, he would have to find some way to prevent his brain from aging, lest he wants to die of old age in this body.

Although the journey he took did truly make him happy, happier than he had ever been in his life. Seeing the beauty complexity of the Western Empire was certainly a sight to behold, if he was still capable of producing tears, he most likely would have liked to cry the entire time he was there. Unfortunately, for now at least, he made his visit there as short as he could, in fear of being taken into slavery.

The Fae See was not much better in that regards, whilst it's landscapes were beautiful enough to warrant tears of joy, the treatment he received was not exactly most welcome. It was still better than being pitied by everyone you meet. Disdain was certainly more welcome than empty pity. Still, he swore to himself, that he would make his way back to this country, just for exploration purposes alone.

Thankfully, he at last found a place that didn't look at him with disdain, just a few odd glances here and there. Well, he couldn't exactly blame anyone for that, but himself, as the design choice of having his amazing brain on display was a choice of his own, both to show off his first real achievement in life, as well as to... No, that was it actually. There was no greater meaning.

Although his exploration of the country was short lived, when Joshua noticed a request for adventurers to fight off.. bugs? After a brief consideration, he realized he had heard something about that and sighed, or more accurately, would have sighed, had his body the capacity for such actions. At least this meant, he was not, most likely, the target of said request. It did explain the strange looks from people, he was effectively a mechanical bug walking around... Regardless, it was not his issue to deal with, or so he thought until his curiosity got the better of him and he checked it out a bit more in-depth. The City of Ghenitus.

He had seen a picture of it once and henceforth decided to leave off for the city immediately. He simply had to explore a city as beautiful as that in person, not to mention, maybe he could get some favor with the locals for helping out, certainly seemed like a good idea. If had some favor with them, perhaps someone would be willing to give him a tour! He, of course, could simply try and hire a guide, but alas. His knowledge of the world outside of his room was quite limited. Limited enough that he was not aware of such a profession even existing...

There was also the simple matter of not understanding what the threat was exactly and wanting to test out his new body in proper. Whilst on his travels thus far, Joshua had avoided any and all conflict as to not damage his freshly made body, but insects? As if some insects could damage his imperfect and potentially error report riddled body.

When Joshua finally made it to Ghenitus, he felt an overwhelming amount of excitement, skittering around, taking in the scenery, the architecture and most importantly, the library he ended up finding. He wondered if and how he would have to go about obtaining a library card. Whilst he had never been in a library himself, he did hear about the existence of such cards, perhaps he could obtain one if this bug extermination went well.

But that was for later. For now, he had to focus on finding where the local military personnel were, so that he could offer his assistance. So he made his way over where it looked like they had gathered. Once he made it up there, he could not help, but skitter over to the very edge of the walls to appreciate the view in proper. Truly, there was quite something about seeing things from high up in the air that would make his stomach, if he still had one, feel as though it was full of butterflies fluttering around.

"Ah, truly, this is what living is all about!"

Caesar had left the a Sootspire circus fiasco with a feeling of discontent. What he expected to be a fun stroll into nostalgia wound up turning into him stumbling into a criminal enterprise, and nearly getting killed by a scarily powerful Baroness. Still he felt a little bad for the people who were innocent and had suddenly lost their livelihoods. Nonetheless he had to get home as his parents were likely expecting their horse back. So he would make his way north across the Ryke countryside towards Brenners pass.

He would make it from Sootspire, Through Brenners pass, Before Stopping to rest in Pesaro. It was here that he would find the Request from Ghenitus on the Adventurers guild board. He wouldn’t initially pay it too much mind, stuffing it to the back of his mind he would stable his old horse and rent himself a room for the night, settling in his room with a meal and a bit of Mead it wouldn’t take long for him to drift to sleep.
~~~
His dreams would be a frightening blur of his two lives, he would find himself back in Mexico city about to step into the ring for his championship fight. He knew he was expected to take a knee but his sons voice would echo in his mind, “l Know your gonna win papa, your a hero!” So Caesar would enter the ring but as he did he would notice the crowds were loaded not with screaming fans but rather armor clad warriors with stern faces. Soon his eyes would shift to the other corner of the ring and he would see a massive chitinous horror of an insect barreling towards him. “Your a hero!” Would echo in his mind and he would likewise charge forward to meet his fate…
~~~
When Caesar awoke he found himself covered in crumbs and sweat, he was always told as a child that dreams were gods way of speaking to his children. Thus he knew better than to ignore this clear calling from God, It looked like he was going to Ghenitus. He would drop the last bit of his coin with a courier and send him on his way towards Valeetiz with a letter to his parents. Taking the old horse from the stables and ensuring his provisions were sufficient for the journey Caesar would begin to ride south towards Ghenitus. He would ride for three days across the border of the insect territories keeping a careful eye out for threats but was fortunate enough to find none.

As the Grand city Became visible on the horizon Caesar would pause for a brief moment observing the Mountain city with a mixture of Admiration and trepidation. Reaching into his saddlebag he would draw his mask and cowl. Donning the mask, strapping the cowl, and removing his shirt he would ride the last few miles to the gates with his head held high ensuring. Arriving at the gates shortly afterwards he was sure he looked a but odd, a masked man in costume atop an old and clearly exhausted horse still he would make sure his voice held a firmness and pride as he said to the guards at the main gate. “I am Surpann, i have come to answer the Call, i hear you have bugs that need Squashing.” He would say smiling boldly beneath his mask.

Ghenitus
1x08_War_for_Olympus_Mount_Olympus_9 (1).png

Time drifted slowly, and with it, a growing sense of anticipation spread throughout Ghenitus. Little by little, adventurers, mercenaries, and sellswords began to pour into the city. The call to arms had echoed far and wide, summoning those with the fortitude to answer, those willing to risk life and limb for the promise of glory, coin, or simply the thrill of battle. As the sun crept higher, the city's streets and squares brimmed with a diverse array of warriors—some clad in gleaming armor, others in dark, shadowy garb, but all drawn by a singular purpose: to face the Hive.

Among the throngs of foreign fighters, two figures stood out, catching the discerning eye of Centurion Alexas Maximus. The first was a peculiar sight, even in a land accustomed to the fantastic—a tiny, mechanical construct, its body a marvel of gears and electronics, with a transparent dome atop its form that housed a floating, pulsing brain. It was a sight that made even the seasoned soldiers blink twice, a being of science in a realm of magic. This was Joshua, an enigmatic entity that seemed as much a curiosity as it was a warrior. Beside him was another figure, equally arresting but for different reasons. Clad in a colorful cape and a mask that obscured his face, Surpann carried an air of mystery, his attire an oddity in a land that favored armor and visible steel. Together, they embodied the eclectic mix of the 'Irregulars,' a term that the Legion had bestowed upon the adventurers who had answered their call.

Alexas Maximus
Alexas Maximus.jpg

As the assembled warriors gathered near the city’s gates, Alexas took a step forward, her armor catching the sun’s rays, glinting like polished silver. She turned her gaze to Joshua, her eyes momentarily narrowing as she studied the mechanical warrior’s form. There was something almost alien about him, yet a resolve she recognized all the same. "Commit this view to memory," she said, her voice carrying a firm, commanding tone, “for this is what we are fighting for today.” Her words, though simple, held weight, as if to impress upon the construct the importance of their mission. She then shifted her attention to Surpann, the masked man who had quietly observed the proceedings. “That is right, Surpann. Today, we will be squashing as many of those bugs as we can stamp out.”

With a slow, deliberate motion, Alexas drew her gladius from its scabbard, the sound of steel scraping against metal ringing out, crisp and clear. She raised the blade high, its edge gleaming brilliantly in the afternoon light, a symbol of the Empire’s might. "Today, we march towards the land occupied by those pests! Irregulars, you will be assisting and fighting alongside the Imperial Legion, as one united force!" Her voice echoed off the marble walls, a thunderous proclamation that belied her slender frame. There was no doubt in her words, no hesitation—only the unyielding confidence of a leader who knew both her own strength and the strength of those she commanded.

The gathered adventurers and mercenaries felt the energy ripple through them, some gripping their weapons tighter, others exchanging glances. They had come from all corners of the world, answering the Empire’s call for different reasons, but in this moment, they stood together, poised to march as a single entity. The air crackled with anticipation, as if the very stones beneath their feet were bracing for what was to come.

Alexas lowered her blade slightly, her eyes scanning the irregulars with a sharp, assessing gaze. "Irregulars, are there any questions before we begin our march toward the contested territory?" she asked, her tone firm yet inviting. There was a brief pause, a moment of silence that hung in the air, heavy with unspoken thoughts. It was a final chance for clarity, a moment for doubts to be cast aside or for last-minute queries to be addressed. Yet, beneath it all, one could feel the tension mounting, like the taut string of a bow ready to be loosed.

The attention he received was certainly most welcome, even if he understood that some may have given him odd looks, like the people in the city. However, it changed none of the facts. Despite whatever glances they threw at him, none could deny the prominence of his genius. He even started to for a few brief moments wonder if throughout heaven and earth, his intellect alone was.... No. He had to remember reality for a bit. Specifically the giant metal machines that were ever-present in Rotia. Whoever created those was almost definitely smarter than him. As painful as it was being grounded to reality, it was also important to not ultimately suffer a tragic fate later down the line.

Although with a view such as this, it was easy to forget small worries such as whose intellect is how gargantuan, but there was a little something missing. Albeit, he only experienced the sensation from the open window and the relatively short amount of time he spent in Rotia, but he did miss it. Wind. Couldn't really feel much wind when the one part of your body that could experience it is covered in reinforced glass and metal... But surely enough that would not be a permanent problem. I mean, he managed to resolve the issue of sight and sound, so surely a sense of touch would not be too difficult either, comparatively speaking. Joshua was forced to admit, however, that luck certainly played a huge factor. Perhaps divine intervention was at play even... No. That was the on possibility he had to forget about and thankfully there was just the person.

A warrior lady that was every bit as intimidating as she was... Intimidating. Joshua had never really met a Spartan or even seen one, due to being born in an age where they no longer existed, but if he had to guess, this must have been a pretty close match to what they were like. Although, it was nice to see that despite her appearance, or perhaps even fittingly with her appearance, she too could appreciate the finer things in life. No, that was wrong.

"I certainly wonder. How different will the view be once I have actually protected it?"

Although a stupid, rhetorical question, considering this is nothing more than a simple insect infestation, he did wonder about the sense of pride he might feel over it and whether it would make the view feel any better than it already does, even despite the minor achievement. As it stood now, Alexas certainly could enjoy the view a lot more than he did now, or so thought.

There was one specific man that piqued Joshuas interest. As somewhat of an enjoyer of culture and by now someone who considered themselves a professional tourist, he couldn't take his gaze off of the masked and caped, yet bare-chested man. Even with the various characters gathered around, he looked like someone who appreciated culture. No, reveled in it. Or so Joshua assumed, walking up the caped man.

"Hello, good sir. I was quite curious about the outfit you've donned. Would you be willing to tell me a bit about it? Ah, my name is Joshua Wincent, apologies, got a bit of ahead of myself there!"

It seemed that the warrior lady from before had given a few short words of encouragement, before they set out. Whilst he could not usually stand the sound of encouraging words, there was something different about them, from the usual ones he'd heard. Perhaps it was the context, perhaps it the was the person saying them. Regardless, he could not help himself from making...
a few audible bubbles

in his tank whilst getting excited. Sure, it was nothing more than insect extermination work, with overly overqualified individuals, but what the heck, he was more than up to going along with the ride. Or perhaps it was simply his own hubris in being recognized as irregular.

Although, he did not see the need for any questions, for a simple bug extermination. The only bugs he would ever need to worry about would be those in his software. As if some ants, cockroaches, termites or whatever other bugs would be a threat to his very imperfect and experimental body, so he chose to remain silent for the question. That should be enough of an answer. Especially in the military, as he very quickly found out back in his time at the Kingdom.

With Joshua's rhetorical question lingering in the air, the group readied itself to march. Among the foreign sellswords present, one man—grizzled and weary—grumbled at the prospect of payment. Standing beside a towering, armored figure that could have easily been mistaken for a suit of armor with a hidden occupant, he muttered under his breath. "Hopefully, I'll get a few Rykes out of this with you in the ranks. Imperial coins don’t quite hold their shine where I’m from." He sighed, casting a quick look up at the imposing construct beside him. "Well, act like you know what you’re doing. I figure you’ll handle yourself just fine." He nodded at CXI, showing little interest in joining the fray himself but trusting this mechanical find to carry the burden into bug-infested territory.

Alexas Maximus
Alexas Maximus.jpg

And then, without delay, Alexas Maximus raised her gladius high, the blade flashing like a beacon in the midday light. Her voice rang out with unbreakable resolve. "The time has come! Let's begin our march!" With her words like a spark to dry tinder, the assembled legion and irregulars surged forward, a unified tide of soldiers, mercenaries, and adventurers advancing toward the bug-infested borderlands.

As they drew nearer to the contested territory, signs of the Hive’s devastation loomed ominously. Fertile fields lay barren, their crops stripped to the root. The twisted remains of villages and farms dotted the landscape, their charred outlines stretching against the sky like skeletal fingers. The air grew thick with the sour stench of decay, and the silence of the ruined land seemed to press in around them. The Hive’s monstrous horde had left nothing in its wake, consuming all with the voracity of locusts. The closer they got to the border, the clearer the sense of urgency became—the land they stood on was a scar, left raw and bleeding by the swarm.

Bugs.png

Soon, the assembled forces began to catch sight of the creatures themselves. Their ranks shifted restlessly as the bugs appeared on the horizon, a swarm of grotesque shapes, limbs and mandibles bristling with deadly intent. The creatures varied widely in size and form, ranging from dog-sized scuttling horrors to hulking, horse-like behemoths. Yet, even amid this writhing mass, one figure caught Alexas' eye—a hulking insect that dwarfed the others, its bloated, armored frame moving with the slow, deliberate menace of a tank. She narrowed her gaze, her focus honed on this monstrosity, the one she would personally see crushed beneath her blade.

“Keep a close formation and show no mercy!” Her words rang with the cold bite of steel, sparking a steely resolve in those around her. With no further delay, she gave the order to strike.

The legion moved like a well-oiled machine, their ranks closing into a tight formation as they advanced upon the swarm. Spears jabbed forward, clashing against powerful pincers and glistening black chitin. Shields held fast, deflecting slashing claws, while the disciplined soldiers pressed forward, driving the bugs back in disciplined waves. Nearby, Joshua, Surpann, and CXI found themselves face-to-face with a massive beetle-like creature. Its dark, glossy carapace reflected the sunlight, the surface nearly obsidian in its polish, while its razor-sharp pincers opened and snapped shut with vicious intent. It charged toward them, kicking up dust as it barreled forward, its thick shell seeming resistant to ordinary weapons. [All adventurers under attack]

The battle surged around them, cries of soldiers and the sickening crunch of carapace meeting steel filling the air. The campaign to cull the Hive had truly begun, and with each strike, each swing, the fighters carved a path through the writhing mass, their collective strength pushing back against the relentless swarm. It was a struggle for survival and dominance, a clash of flesh and steel, and each warrior knew that only one side would walk away victorious.

During combat players have 3 actions they can take. These actions can be used for a multitude of things, example: moving, blocking, dodging, attacking and using abilities. When acting, remember to always put a summarization at the end of your post, like the following example:

Actions:
1 - Used 'Flaming Sword' against the attacking bug - Fighting Style F, Blight [Fire] F - Grade F Cooldown 0 - Strength E (2) + Sword F (1) + Ability F (1) = 4
2 - Combo Basic Attack against the attacking bug +1
3 - Combo Basic Attack against the attacking bug +1

For reference, this is how much, in numerals, each grade is worth:
F = 1
E = 2
D = 3
C = 4
B = 5
A = 6
S = 7

In this RP, we will be using the experimental dice rolling for combat. You will roll 3 dices: one for your stat, one of your item and one for your ability. If the stat you are using is E, which would be a 2, you will roll a 1D4 (number of faces is the double of the value). Items and abilities will work the same. Any doubts, ask me in Discord.

HP: 2/2 / Armor: 1/1 / Weapon: 1/1

Bug rolled a 6 (ignoring the perfect rolls which most likely were a bug)

Upon reaching the city gate it didn’t take long to find the mustered forces, all the shiny bronze and Steel was a dead giveaway. He would take his spot amongst the other Irregulars and listen to Alexis speech puffing his chest out with barely contained pride when she used his words. Having no questions for her he would remain silent and fall in place as the march began. The city streets seemed to vibrate ever so slightly under the weight of unified feet trudging towards the, hive. Under the sounds of marching Caesar had almost missed the small mechanical spider thing with the brain jar as it spoke to him. When he finally did notice its words he was glad he had not missed it.

His eyes would light up with blatant enthusiastic awe. “Dios mio…your a brain…and your jar walks!” He would exclaim clearly impressed. It took him a moment to register what this creature that called itself joshua had said before he would respond. Taking the cape and holding it out so that the feather pattern was visible he would grin saying “This? Of this is the Flying serpent suit. I made it myself. Where i come from the flying serpent is a symbol of wisdom and righteousness. I am hoping it will bring me a little bit of both. So i made my luchador outfit based upon this mythical creature from my home.” He would explain to the strange being as they walked, leaving the city limits and heading towards blackened mounds of earth that he could only assume were the insect creatures he had heard so much about.

As they journeyed forth he would continue to chat with Joshua while slathering his skin with Oils made from animal fats. He went on inquiring how joshua found himself as a brain in a jar, what he planned to do when they had finished this little adventure. Even asking if he had any family waiting on him. Yet the further into contested territory they marched the less words he could find. The barren fields set a somber tone, and the burned out ruins of villages set Caesars mind into a bit of a boil. How many people, families, and lives had been ruined by the senseless brutality of these creatures. He could feel himself growing more and more eager to enact some form of vengeance upon them.

Thus when the lines collided and steel rang out its defiant cry against Chitin caesar was looking for a target himself. He would he pleased upon the realization that one such target had found them. He would quickly leap into action matching the creatures charge with his own, Swinging an uppercut to meet and hopefully turn its razor sharp pincers. Then quickly positioning himself just behind the head and reaching out to take its antenna in one hand, and the top part of its armored shell in the other more for leverage than anything else. “Quickly Joshua, loose your mechanical fury upon this monster!” He would should out digging his heels into the earth in a strained effort to wrestle the beast to a standstill.
Leap- Jump F. leapt between Joshua and the Insect.

Uppercut- Natural weapons F, Piercing F. Chin checking the beetle.

Grapple- Natural Weapons F, Tangle F. Trying to stop its advance and take its attention.

V-CXI

V felt lost and disoriented. Very much so. After all, his memory bank was damaged. He went into stasis quite a long time ago, only to be unearthed by a wandering mercenary looking for treasure in what V assumed to be the ruins of his once prosperous home. The man who found him dragged him into a military environment of sorts, which unsettled the rook. He had no combat module. All these people around him seemed battle hardened enough. And then there was him. An old and damaged relic, which barely had any functional modules to help himself in this "bug hunt".

The machine followed in the direction as everyone else. After meditating on the words of the one who found him, his visual sensors lit up in a pattern, which were accompanied by some noises. "⠊ ⠁⠍ ⠁⠋⠗⠁⠊⠙ ⠊ ⠙⠕ ⠝⠕⠞ ⠓⠁⠧⠑ ⠁⠝⠽ ⠉⠕⠍⠃⠁⠞ ⠅⠝⠕⠺⠇⠑⠙⠛⠑ ⠁⠧⠁⠊⠇⠁⠃⠇⠑" These sounds were likely to not make any sense to anybody, but they vaguely sounded like the modern construct language. Very vaguely. To top it off, they distorted or were cut off at times. Likely making it increasingly harder for V to be understood.

The landscape slowly turned more and more devastated as the group marched. A grim reminder of his own story, or what wasn't lost, at least. It made V wonder if his main directive was actually the one his savior thought of him. Was he a combat, or a labor rook? A mix of both? Something else, perhaps?

Nevertheless, the worried rook stood along a masked man and a fellow construct. A more modern one, by the looks of it. It was unlike anything V saw in his time. They chatted in a friendly manner. V wondered if he should try to socialize in such a context. A disappointed, glitched out beep came off him, as he had no chance to try to interact with them. As the leader rallied the troops to charge.

Unlike most of the other troops, V stood silently for a moment. Analyzing to the best of his ability the opponent before him. It was then that he realized something. No matter how good his assessment was, his damaged voice components would hinder communication too much. He had to act.

V, slowly, ran towards the large insect the masked person was attacking. Then did his best to mimic the first strike the masked one used against it from the side, in order to not hit him. It was sloppy, slow, and unrefined. but it was better than nothing.

Joshua had certainly been glad he started the conversation with the "luchador" as he put it. Whilst Joshua had no knowledge of what exactly that was, he was interested none the less. If people dress that fancily, there must be something amazing about them in one way or another, that's something he knew quite well.

"Oh? Me? I simply wished to abandon my feeble body in pursuit of science!"

It was not entirely a lie. Despite the circumstances forcing him into such a position, he undoubtedly did do it whilst pursuing science.

Fate certainly liked keeping Joshua on his toes, never quite giving him the satisfaction of enjoying life, or at least doing its best to ruin any plans he might have for such. This time, he was prepared, however. Even if he felt annoyed by the situation he was now facing, it had a few silver linings, in particular being able to experiment with his new body in a somewhat controlled environment. He had not really gotten the opportunity to do such on his travels, much preferring to stay safe and sound during travels across the world, rather than risking his life needlessly.

The bugs size was certainly a problem though, he did somewhat figure they would be no normal insects, but assumed they may be some sort of invasive poisonous species that came about and started terrorizing the locals. This was on a whole different level than some simple invasive species, whatever these things were, they could do proper invasions with that size.

Now came the hard part of the whole escapade. Actually fighting man-sized insects. For someone of Joshua's stature, it was an experience, having to face off against bugs larger than yourself. Much larger at that. Regardless, he was already here, left with little choice and his newly acquired acquaintance was asking him to unleash his fury upon a bug wrestled to the ground..? Not a sentence Joshua would think he'd ever think on.

So Joshua skittered right up to the two of them and decided to go with the less damaging option towards Ceasar.
"Apologies Ceasar, this may hurt you as well."
So he began generating up his shield in an attempt to entrap the 3 of them inside it. Joshua figured and hoped that an insect would definitely not mind running into whatever it perceived as being trapped by rather than attempting to harm them first. Depending on where the man in the armor stood he may also be perhaps under the barrier, but due to the limited size of it, they most likely all would not fit inside it.

Multiple F grade abilities can be used in the same round as long as the character has Energized F and the skill is also included in the ability. Any action that uses a skill is an ability. Considering Ceasar's Tangle for advantage purposes.

As the clash around them raged on, Caesar, CXI, and Joshua pressed their counter-assault against the monstrous beetle.

Caesar, swift and precise, darted in close to the creature, narrowly avoiding the jagged edges of its formidable pincers. With a powerful uppercut, he struck against its armored mandibles, his fist connecting with a solid impact that sent a tremor up his arm. The chitin was tougher than expected, its glossy surface barely dented by his blow, but Caesar was undeterred. Seizing an opportunity, he darted forward and grabbed the beetle by its antennae, yanking them taut with a sharp, controlled twist. The grapple halted the beetle's thrashing, buying a precious moment for his companions to strike.

Taking advantage of the opening, CXI lunged forward with clunky determination. The mechanoid’s metal fist collided with the beetle's side, producing a resounding metallic thud that echoed across the battlefield. Though lacking finesse, the sheer force behind CXI’s strike cracked a section of the beetle's chitin, causing the creature to emit a shrill, agitated screech. As CXI assessed the beast’s reaction, an uncanny insight flickered through its processors—the beetle was driven purely by instinct, its mind a void of complex thought or self-preservation. There would be no retreat from this relentless foe; it would fight until either it or they fell.

Nearby, Joshua’s Electromagnetic Shield crackled to life, arcs of contained lightning dancing across its surface as he channeled energy into the device. Thanks to the close distance between all those engaged in battle, there wasn't friendly fire through its usage. The shield dissolved in a brilliant flash, leaving behind a potent crackle as electricity surged across the beetle’s body, sparking along its carapace and lancing into its joints. The beetle’s movements faltered as the electric current locked its muscles in an agonizing spasm, its twitching limbs jerking violently under the onslaught.

The beetle, having taken considerable damage from the concerted assault, began to thrash and shake its massive body, desperately trying to dislodge Caesar from its grip. Despite its frantic efforts, the grappling hold proved effective, and it struggled in vain, hampered by the entanglement. The creature, now enraged and disoriented, lashed out wildly, snapping its pincers with ferocity against the trio.

Caesar could feel the insects shell resisting his blow and its struggle in his grip was something he had never experienced before. The tremendous impact of V-CXI was more than he had anticipated and he almost lost his footing as it reverberated through the creature causing it to shriek in agony. For just a moment Ceasar felt bad, yet ye steeled himself as he recalled the destruction on the towns they had passed. When Joshua came with his warning Caesar braced himself, struggling against the creatures spastic motions.

Somehow he was not harmed by the electricity of Joshua’s attack…perhaps the bug was dense enough to absorb the bulk of the shock. Still the creature was not finished. Taking advantage of its Struggles Caesar would wait for a break in its struggles and the moment he got it he would push forward on the insect before releasing it as it attempted to shove him back in its attempts to free itself…yet he would not move sideways or backwards, no no. Caesar moved upwards leaping Nearly ten feet straight up as he shouted “SKYWARD SNAKE!!!” And came back down upon the creature elbow first aiming at the side of its back nearest to where V-CXI had struck the monstrous creature.

Having gathered an initial assessment of the creature, the only conclusion V could draw, was that it was a mindless monster. It certainly explained the scenery its kin left behind. "⠊⠍⠍⠊⠝⠑⠝⠞ ⠙⠁⠝⠛⠑⠗ ⠙⠑⠞⠑⠉⠞⠑⠙". After stating this with another round of distorted noises, V's determination to slay his target doubled. He still lacked his own combat knowledge, so he opted to observe and imitate the masked man's offensive.

Since his companion in arms jumped up, V adjusted his position. Giving room for the diving elbow strike to impact as intended. While, once again, V used his whole weight and focused his might in holding the monster still. The rook's visual interface lit up yet again, along with more garbled noises. "⠇⠑⠁⠙ ⠥⠎ ⠞⠕ ⠧⠊⠉⠞⠕⠗⠽ ⠍⠁⠎⠅⠑⠙ ⠍⠁⠝" and put more strength in his grapple, trying to crush the part he was holding after Caesar struck.

It seems his highly experimental electromagnetic shield was a resounding success. Joshua could not help, but feel proud of this great achievement. Regardless, it certainly was not enough to fell the creature, merely cause it some suffering. But honestly, he did not care. No, that may be inaccurate. He enjoyed it suffering. Insects should never grow to this size. Joshua simply hoped that they wouldn't encounter a two meter tall mite next. At that point they may as well give up really. A creature going around at nearly Mach two is certainly not something anyone here could handle from what Joshua had seen thus far.

Putting the insect situation as a whole aside, Joshua decided his next course of action to be quite simple, trusting in his own engineering ability as well as the sturdiness of the materials he picked up, on the off-chance the bug decides to attack him. So Joshua simply charged in and poked on of its legs with his own electrocuting the insect. I may need to install a flamethrower in the future.

The coordinated assault proved devastating. Caesar's "Skyward Snake" elbow drop struck with thunderous force precisely where V-CXI had previously cracked the creature's carapace. The impact sent spiderweb fractures across the beetle's shell, the sound of breaking chitin echoing like shattering pottery. V-CXI's follow-up crush, combined with Joshua's calculated electrical jab, created a perfect storm of destruction. The beetle's legs buckled, and with an otherworldly screech, its massive form collapsed to the ground, twitching violently before falling still.

Alexas Maximus

From nearby, Alexas's voice carried over the chaos of battle, "Hold the line! Press the advantage!" The young centurion was visible between clashes, her armor stained with ichor as she methodically wore down her own opponent. The discipline of the East Empire's military training showed in her calculated strikes and defensive maneuvers.

The battlefield itself was a testament to the ferocity of the engagement. The ground was scarred and torn, beetle carcasses lay scattered about, and the air was thick with the acrid smell of their internal fluids. The legionaries, working in practiced formations, were steadily gaining ground against the remaining insects.

A thunderous crash drew attention skyward. From over a nearby ridge, more beetles were appearing – larger ones. Their massive forms cast shadows over the battlefield as they scrambled down the slope, mandibles clicking ominously. Alexas's voice cut through again, "Regroup! Form defensive positions! Second wave incoming!"

The new threats were noticeably different from their fallen kin. Their carapaces bore strange, almost crystalline growths, and their movements seemed more coordinated, less instinctual. These weren't mere drones – they were something else entirely.

Having dealt with the massive creature was certainly wonderful, however, it seemed they were not quite done yet. There was still work to be done to deal with this situation, especially as the second wave came crashing in. Joshua's victory bubbling was short lived as always it seemed. Nonetheless, if there was work to be done, he'd simply have to do it. All for the potential access to the library card and potential tour guide. Well, at this point it was actually about survival, but he had confidence in his own work and genius that it would be of no issue.

The new wave of attackers seemed a bit off compared to the others. But that wouldn't stop Joshua from rushing to the front lines this time, creating a barrier around himself, attempting to fortify the defense line.

V-CXI

The ancient started at the dying beast for a moment, contemplating the effects of the tandem attack. And then turned to the masked man "⠺⠑⠇⠇ ⠙⠕⠝⠑ ⠍⠁⠎⠅⠑⠙ ⠍⠁⠝" the glitchy audio echoed in unison with the lit pattern on V-CXI's lenses. His focus shifted to the smaller construct "⠽⠕⠥ ⠞⠕⠕ ⠏⠑⠉⠥⠇⠊⠁⠗ ⠍⠁⠉⠓⠊⠝⠑" Were he able to sigh, he would've done so in relief.

But the calm didn't last long.

Upon seeing the next, visibly more powerful, wave of monsters, V would look around. Upon locating the remains of a petrified tree, the Rook ripped it off the ground. wielding it with both hands. His face quickly went from the brain, to the masked man, and back to the enemies ahead. "⠏⠇⠑⠁⠎⠑ ⠇⠑⠁⠙ ⠞⠓⠑ ⠺⠁⠽ ⠍⠁⠎⠅⠑⠙ ⠍⠁⠝" the distorted audio stated.

As the bug fell caesar would smile a sense of accomplishment welling up within him. Excellent job mr joshua and Er….metal man.He would say before his gaze shifted to the hill ahead and his eyes widened. His heart would feel like it fell into his gut with a heavy thud. For a brief moment he actually contemplated turning to run. Yet he quickly chastised himself internally for even letting the idea cross his mind. Finding his remaining courage he would straighten up and take a deep breath.

“the forces they are coming in are dangerous…we must find a way to split their numbers so that the soldiers can better intercept them.” He would say as he scanned his allies, Joshua, V-CXI, and the soldiers following Alexas. It was in the latter that he found a glimmer of hope. Near the line of archers were About a dozen braziers spaced out along their line and filled with oil. Caesar didn’t consider himself a learned man, but he had never known a bug to be fond of fire.

He would break into a sprint dashing as quickly as he could towards Alexas. “Commander Maximus…i may have a plan.” He would say turning to point to the braziers. “if we move the formation back behind the braziers we can spill the oil on the ground form a defensive line behind the oil. When the enemy meets your shields…you cook them. If we do not give them room to push forward they will roast or retreat.”

Alexas Maximus

Alexas, dispatching her opponent with a decisive thrust of her gladius, turned sharply at Caesar's approach. Her eyes narrowed thoughtfully as she processed his suggestion, quickly analyzing the tactical merit. A thin smile crossed her face.

"Clever irregular. COHORT, CONTROLLED WITHDRAWAL!" Her voice carried across the battlefield with practiced authority. "Archers, prepare the oil! Shields, maintain formation!"

The legionaries began an orderly retreat, their discipline evident as they moved in perfect coordination. The irregulars and support units followed suit, creating a new defensive line behind the braziers. The approaching beetles, sensing their prey's withdrawal, increased their pace, their crystalline growths catching the light in an almost hypnotic display.

As the oil was being prepared, a peculiar phenomenon became apparent. The crystalline formations on the beetles' carapaces began to pulse with an eerie, bioluminescent glow. The air itself seemed to thicken, and small stones on the ground started to vibrate. One of the legionaries called out in alarm, "Centurion! They're doing something!"

The largest of the approaching beetles, its shell adorned with particularly prominent crystal growths, reared up on its hind legs. The crystals on its body flared brilliantly, and a visible wave of force rippled through the air toward the defensive line.

The battlefield now presented a critical moment of decision. The oil strategy was nearly in place, but this new threat demanded immediate attention. The strange energy emanating from the crystal-adorned beetles suggested these creatures possessed capabilities far beyond their previously fallen kin.

Alexas's voice cut through the tension: "Irregulars! We need to disrupt whatever they're doing! The formation needs more time!"
