Fandom Boku no Hero: Peace Sign Academia OOC

I think people often jump the gun in calling something bad writing when the problem is them and not the writing. There is a lot of bias towards certain types of shows in particular but that also spread to pretty much every other that have to do less with quality and more with the particular order in whcih people watch stuff. Add a sheep effect to that
Yes, they are popular for a reason. And often they really hold up. Something like Kill la Kill or code geass really holds it's ground. But when I am haunted by fate/stay nights, ghost's in the shell, welcome to the NHK, soul eater, melancholy of haruhi suzumya, Toradora, SORA NO OTOSHIMO... these are all good shows but they don't hold a candle to many recent ones that get thrown under the bus in terms of writing.

And I get it a lot of these were pretty ground-breaking. At the time. But being pretentious is not the same as exploring a theme and being "different" is not the same as being good. The problem I get is that legitimately good and innovative ideas get thrown out because people are focused on lick gundam's feet. Because subtle differences are not appreciated and instead bygone craters are loved. Because something so much as feeling old can get people to praise crappy stuff for no reason (looking at you, Magician's Bride's opening animation) while some pretty interesting ones die under the asusmption of "it's another X"

I'm not sure if I would go that far, shows that are great will get recognition whether or not their modern, take steins;gate and Kill la kill. Personally I kinda feel the writing as whole isn't quite as good as it was before, but that's just personal preference. Overall, it doesn't matter if a show is new or old, the writing is really the only thing that matters

Your Lie in April is beautiful though! D:

Also if any show should get dumped on, its SAO. The creator admitted he did zero research on the subject of games. Those games are awful and would have been Sonic 06 Levels of bad, if not Atari bad.
WE AIN'T STUPID, WE SEE YOU AND YOUR BAD MENU DESIGN SIRRRR
Sao is just bad in general, sucks that it's the premier "Game" anime when No game No life and Log horizons exist

Not particularly true. Just belonging to a particular genre or vaguely reassembling something else can often be enough for a show to be throw out the window. And I'm not saying there aren't poorly, VERY poorly written stuff out there nowadays and very formulaic too. But if we atributed this lack of popularity to the lack of writing quality we'd be forgetting how senseless it is to say something is bad because it has a formula. Formulas work for a reason and understanding that reason and refining is as much of an art piece as any other in the same genre. It's the same kind of thing as the normal inspiration, only applied to structure.

And yes, many great shows will get aclaimed but the problem is not that none do, but that not nearly enough do and many get shat on before people even think about the actual writing. This is because writing is hardly our real criteria now. We confused how we feel about something with what is actually there. So no wonder many great shows have this different art style or adapt some hyped sourced material.

My main complaint and the thing I get worked up about the most is that a show being good is no grounds to milk it like beaitng a dead horse and then go and call anything with ok writing shit. It's hypocritical to say companies are milking formulas when at least the people working there have the decency to make some variation and productiveness out of it instead of using it for the sole sake of sounding superior and often ruining the experience for others. If people are going up to newbies and telling them "go watch the best thing out there first" and then they go and see "oh everything else is worthless now" because everyone else is telling them that the cycle is perpetuated.

Ghost in the Shell was ok, the original fate/stay was quite subpar. Honestly by bigger feud with ghost in the shell has to do with people bashing the movie, which wasn't great but having seen the the original literal hours before the other one quality wise they were not that different, just set on different stages.

So where's simj26 simj26 been? I know that we aren't supposed to be in the infirmary and stuff, but I'd like to finish the interaction before we just up and leave you know?
