BloodLines

“Antje.” Lucifer called from the bed, pulling her onto his lap before she left. He hugged her tight and put his face in her neck. “You can go to college. I’ll sign you up for college. Heck maybe I could even go to college. Just because you look young doesn’t mean you are. Humans don’t look their age a lot of times.” Lucifer hugged her a little tighter, “Also, don’t bother with that stuff you look fine. Besides, tattoos ruin your blood, so don’t bother with those either. That is a personal request from me Miss Antje.” He wasn’t planning on drinking her blood, she knew it but blood was an important thing to vampires.

Letting go of her so she could go take a shower, Lucifer smiled at her.
Your parents can’t help us anymore, if we are going Minnesota, then they can’t help us. I can find people to make appropriate documents though, so don’t worry to much about it, it will just take me a little time. He said in her mind.

Antje nodded and grabbed a towel. She'd just dropped trow when she remembered it would be a good idea to bring in fresh clothes. She put the towel around herself and looked in her bag. If I were ever an heir I'd always forget to dress or something, and I think my parents know that.

She had a nice shower, happily shaving her legs and her arms. What was interesting was that if she marked herself, like she'd done before with other tattoos, nothing bad went into her blood. Something went into Lucifer's blood from her mark, which was why it burned him, but she was fine. She especially wanted to be rid of her stupid dhampire tattoo; the hunter had seen it, indefinitely. If it had been a younger hunter, she'd be dead. She wanted to replace it.

She got out of the shower feeling clean and less stiff, and she threw on her sleep clothes (a large tshirt and boxer undies). She left her hair in a messy bun and she stepped out. She only noticed that the colder, fresh air from the were making her arm sting and her knee sting. She'd apparently cut herself shaving. She hoped it wouldn't set Lucifer off, but she wouldn't ever mind giving him her blood; he'd saved her life. And he was her protector.

Lucifer watched Antje leave and he felt himself sigh. He wanted to make her happy but he knew the change was going to be hard on her. He was hungry and pretty aware of it. He can try and eat when they actually get to Minnesota. For now he will just close his eyes, maybe take Antje to get some human food later. Lucifer closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He felt a small sting realizing Antje had cut herself, but it did not even bother him because It was barley something he can call pain. Quietly experimenting with the small amount of pain he realized he can block out the phantom feelings completely. Through a bit more concentration, he also realized he could dull or amplify the pain she felt for himself, or even pin point the pain.

Before he knew it, Lucifer had fallen asleep long before Antje made it out of the shower.

Antje smiled to see him asleep. He looked pretty comfortable. She crawled into her own bed and made a cocoon of blankets.

Antje woke up crying. In her dream every possible, horrible fate had befallen her. She was bleeding to death again, her neck had been slashed, she was naked in the snow and in her dream there was no such thing as Lucifer, Tante, or her parents. Just Alistair and his knife and a thousand other nameless horrors chasing her down. She bleated in her sleep, finally allowed to cry out in her paralyzing fear..

Antje’s sudden cries in her sleep woke Lucifer up with a jolt. He thought something was attacking them. Gazing around the room he took note that no one was around the immediate area and Antje was in no pain. Sunlight was leaking between the cracks in the curtain and it stung at his eyes. Picking himself off his bed, the rolled over and slide into bed with Antje. Wrapping his arms around her, Lucifer pulled her into his chest. Covering himself with a second blanket to keep the sunlight away, he opened the link between them and began to send her images of her and him painting. He was tired and his head pulsed for some odd reason, he was already starting to fall asleep again.

Antje opened her eyes and hugged him, realizing it was a bad dream and she felt embarrassed. I'm sorry... She felt bad that she'd woken him up. She didn't understand how him simply crawling into bed with her made a huge difference. She wiped away her tears and snuggled up to him, feeling better. She took a little longer to feel sleepy again, still shaking from her dream. God, it was scary.

Don’t be sorry, he said in return. Gently he began to pet her hair. He needed her to calm down before he could actually sleep again. Lucifer fell asleep not long after Antje did. The next evening after the sun went down, Lucifer pulled himself out of the bed and began to pack Antje’s things, pulling out a pair of cloths for her so he did not have to wait for her to choose. He was egger to get going and find a safe place to stay.

For good measures, Lucifer got in the shower to clean himself. It was a quick shower and made him no more on edge then he was since Antje woke him. He was not mad at her or anything, she had been having nightmares for a while, but the unsettling feeling of running and being caught at any moment still hung over him. He was ready to be safe again, he was ready for Antje to be safe and happy again. Lucifer realized that this move was taking a toll on him as much as Antje, he had just been far more concentrated on her.

After he got out of the shower, Lucifer pulled on some pants and a shirt, ready to take on the next aircraft.

Antje woke up and saw her clothes neatly folded and she saw him leaving the bathroom with wet hair. She smiled at him and stretched. "Hii.." she yawned. She put on her pair of pants and she turned around to change her shirt. She turned around and remembered that she'd had her nightmare. "Thank you for helping me... I'm sorry I woke you up." she stood up and hugged him. He was still a little wet, but she didn't really care. He was nice to hug. Before she let go she leaned in on her tip toes and softly kiss the corner of his mouth, which was what she could only really reach. She hoped that wouldn't annoy him or weird him out, but they both were kinda anxious. She looked down when she stepped back a little. "S-so..uh, when is our next flight?" she asked quietly.

The hug was a nice surprise, and being thanked made him feel a lot better. The kiss was something on its own though. It was an almost kiss, but it turned his frown into a small smile. She looked away from him, but she did not leave his presence. He wanted to pick her up and kiss her, or lay her down on the bed and kiss her. But both might be a bad idea. So instead he reached down and touched her cheek to lift her face up to look at him. He smiled at her and spoke in a tired tone, “We will be leaving in a few hours. We might arrive during the day, so I might need to borrow your hoodie to keep the sun from hurting me. May I borrow it later?” He asked. They should get her something to eat before getting on the plane. As soon as they landed, he will need to eat. He would have to apologize to her later because he was sure that it would make her uncomfortable.

Antje nodded. She hoped her kiss didn't make things weird, but instead it sparked something. She blushed, not needing the link to get the feeling that he wanted to kiss her. Which brightened her mood. Her hoodie would smell like her, badly, but if he could sleep so close to her he might be used to it. She remembered her bottle and she opened it and took a few sips before passing it to him. He looked like he was dying of thirst, poor thing.

"I feel a lot better today..." she smiled. Her legs weren't so weak and shaky, and she felt much more rested than before they'd left. Maybe him sleeping in the same bed made her heal faster?

Kissing him was almost like an anti depressant. Maybe so.

She put her big sleep-shirt in her suitcase and she slipped on her shoes. Even if they were leaving soon, maybe they should hunt. At least he should. It wouldn't make her feel anxious about how he probably got his meals if she didn't think about it. If she hunted men maybe he'd feel the same way. Or maybe not, because he was a grown vampire and he knew how to separate meals from romantic partners..Which they weren't even, so why was she trying to rationalize? It was just a dumb almost-kiss. Calm down.

Lucifer took the bottle grateful and drank the content. He drank a good portion of it, probably the majority of the bottle. It tasted great, and was just thinking about how hungry he was. He must have looked as bad as he felt. Handing the bottle back to Antje he took a deep breath and felt a tingle in his body. It had been a long time since he actually went that long fasting blood like that. “Thank you Antje, I really needed that.” He said with a smile. He felt some strength return to him and a bit of his anxiety dissipate.

“Come on let’s get a move on. We will move slow since you still feel a bit weak.” He put on her pack back and then took her suit case in one hand and her hand in the other. Giving it a little squeeze they made their way to the airplane. Since Lucifer got this ticket himself, they did not sit in first class but economy. So their shared the seat with another person. It was an elderly women that Lucifer had no problem talking to. For the most part the older women could not hear a lot, but she was sharp and witty. She reminded him of Antje a bit.

Antje liked the woman quite a lot, but she liked old people unconditionally anyways. The elderly and children were her favorite because they weren't scared of her. She was a sweet lady, and Antje almost wished she'd look that old someday. Immortality would get old pretty fast, and she didn't like the concept of being 16 forever. But she'd noticed a few subtle changes to her body, her face looking more mature, her breasts growing a little, things she wished had changed much earlier. The old lady was everything Antje had ever envisioned as a perfect grandmother.

"So why are you going to Minnesota, Ethel?"

"My sister died and I'm going to her funeral and I'm going to stick around a bit and visit with family...How about you two love birds?"

Antje smiled. "No love birds here! At least I don't think so.."she stuck her tongue out at Lucifer. Okay, maybe lovebirds..barely.

"Ohstoppit, you're practically magnetic, the two of you!" Antje blushed: it was pretty true... Especially since her hand seemed to be compelled to hold his every few moments. She wished that the seats were bigger so that she could cuddle him.

"I don't see it.." Antje smiled toothily. Her mouth hurt a little, the top part of her mouth aching.

The old women mostly talked about how her and him looked like love birds. Lucifer could freely admit he really liked Antje. Love… maybe is getting there. Romantic feeling wise, yeah… yeah he really did. Right now he just wanted to get them safe. Then a slight idea clicked, even after Antje had said she did not see them together. It kind of hurt, perhaps she was just picking up and the need be flirty as a vampire.

“Ah you must forgive Anna, she can be so shy about our engagement.” Lucifer lied smoothly.

“Engagement? Oh my you two! Congratulations! To be young! How old are you two?” The women was very pleased now.

“Well you see she is 20 and I am 24. Our story is quite a beautiful one.” He picked her hand up and kissed it, glancing at Antje. The comment about her not seeing them together slightly irked him now. He wanted to see how uncomfortable he could make her, or how much he can make her blush. “We meet a while back, a cold night in Britain and I think I feel in love with her smell. It sounds wired I know, but it was just how it happened. The next thing I fell in love with was her personality, I am sure you have found out she is very witty.” The old women was nodding, well enraptured by Lucifer telling the story. “After being together for so long I could no longer take it, I wanted her by my side. Oh but she would have none of that. She refused my marriage proposal so many times. Last night, was when she said yes.” Lucifer said with a toothy grin. The Women mad ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ and smiled at them.

“Oh but the only problem is we have no place to stay right now. You see my parents are incredibly abusive… they had made horrible threats to my fiancé… In order to protect her we have both picked up our lives and moved here to Minnesota to hide. Right now we have no place to stay… I was wondering if you can help us. You seem like you are familiar with the area. Perhaps you can find us a temporary home until we find something more permeate and I can find a job to support my soon to be wife.” The women was pretty much buying every word that was coming from Lucifer’s mouth. He had to give himself a pat on the back because he was such a great liar.

Antje had blushed so hard she expected her head might explode or laserbeams to come out her eyes. She'd only said they weren't together because her passport said 16, but the picture they had used was one of her at 14 and they were supposed to play brother and sister. Why did he do that? Unless he was hurt by her saying that, but she hadn't meant to do that. She needed better training.Lucifer? What are you? I didn't mean to say no to hurt you. You changed the story! Why did you do that? I'm sorry...Why had he changed the story like that? It was sort of a genius thing , but she felt odd hearing them talk about their "engagement". News to her. Then she started to wonder if he would ever really be engaged to her. She put her hair is a messy ponytail and leaned her head on his shoulder, quietly. Ethel clearly liked the Romeo and Juliet touch to the story, and all the little dramas with it.

(Sorry for the short response... be back in maybe three days!)

“Why I have a grandson-in-law who owns a apartment complex, I am sure I can get a place for you guys to stay for a bit.” The elderly women said. Lucifer made a joyous face and squeezed Antje’s hand. “Thank you so much, you have no idea how much this means to us.”
Relax, we can flip back to the story after we find a better place to stay. I just told her what she wanted to hear. One lesson of a Vampire, people are easy to trick when you tell them what they want.

But she'll tell the same story to her grandson in law, and so we'll kinda have to hold onto the story...I didn't say that to hurt your feelings, either. But now we'll have to like...get married? To fix the story... She sent through the link her bubbling romantic thoughts for him, but she immediately regretted telling him that. She'd make him mad or something. Ethel seemed very happy to help.

She cuddled him still, her head on his shoulder. Maybe he didn't mind.

(Nice long post just for you love. Sorry for the long absence. Australia is Fanatic! I will hopefully post once a day, maybe even twice. :) )

Lucifer automatically felt a bit of regret and turned his feelings off for the link. He was happy about Antje’s feeling for him, but part of him wonders if it was a bad thing. He liked her, but what if she thought he was only a Lancaster try to get her blood. What if she thought he was just manipulating her… or what if… there were so many what ifs. Lucifer’s paranoia hounded him.

In response to her, he pulled her closer to him and took her hand
. We won’t stay there, we will move towns when I figure out a safer place, and if this place is the best place we can just remain fiancés as long as we want. It’s no one damn business why or when we marry. He said, trying to calm her down a bit. He did not really deny or accept that she did kind of hurt his feelings, but none the less he tried to make her feel like he did what he thought was right.

When they got off the plane, Lucifer helped carry Ethel’s things as well as Antje’s. They caught a cab and drove for about 2 and a half hours out to a small city. It was the middle of the day and Antje’s jacket was not much help for blocking out the sun. When they arrived there was Ethel’s entire family there. After Antje’s and Lucifer’s ‘life story’ as told, the family was more than willing to help out. Their new land lord’s name was Kenny. They had to stay for part of a Funeral party for Ethel’s sister, but soon after they took a 40 minute taxi ride to a small apartment complex. Kenny took them to a small available room that had a bit of furnishing in it since they knew Antje and Lucifer had nothing with them.

The room they had been given had a small kitchen, a single bathroom with a shower and a combined living room and bed room. Inside the living room had a small TV, a couch and coffee table and a full side bed in the corner. It was not much but it was better than nothing at all. Lucifer felt like he truly lucked out.

Lucifer thanked Kenny for the help and then promptly closed the door, excusing themselves to retire for the day. It was almost night and Lucifer had a bit of sun burn on his arms a face from whenever they had stepped outside, the burns on his face where around his neck and collar bone, his forehead, nose and cheeks.

Lucifer took off the jacket and laid down on his back on the couch, letting a painful sigh escape his lips. He was in a lot of pain right now. Good thing the Guardian link was only one way, Antje could not feel what he was. He wouldn’t want her to, it sucks. “Let me rest a little, then we can get some human food for you later. In less you are thirsty, but I think you still have a bit of bottled blood left.” He said quietly.

(Yay! I'm glad you're having fun is Australia!)

Antje could sort of sense that she'd hurt his feelings and she was so stupid to try and tell him. She liked the little apartment, it could be a home. She was worried about his burns, but he seemed like he'd rather deal with it himself. She unpacked her stuff neatly. She quietly paced around, bored, and worrying if they were okay in this new place. She finally decided that she wanted to go get human food for the fridge, and maybe some proper bedding, and if rumors were true, that all butchers in America were commissioned to sell the blood of animals to free vampires, she could get some to fill the fridge for emergencies.

Antje had nervously shown the butcher her tattoo, and she found herself some medium sized containers of cow and pig blood. Even though it wasn't nearly as healthy as human blood, it was probably a lot like tofu. She also got a bunch of cuts for Lucifer. She wasn't sure what to get for human food for herself, so she decided on a loaf of bread, meat, cheese, and peanut butter. She found some dark sheets they could put in front of the windows, and she got a good deal on an entire bedset and pillows for them, but unfortunately they were pastel colored. Oh well.

She came back fairly quickly, and she quickly put away the groceries. Lucifer hadn't woken up, but that wasn't a bad thing. If he woke up and she wasn't there his heart would start. But she wasn't a prisoner anymore.

She gently slipped a pillow under his head, trying desperately to not wake him up. She carefully put the comforter on him and she stopped to look at him. His silvery hair was mussed up, and his red eyes were closed. He was the same porcelain shade as she was. She put her hand on the least burnt cheek and she smiled, and before she could really stop herself she kissed the corner of his mouth like earlier. She got up and sat on her little bed diagonal from his, she'd already made her bed and when Lucifer woke up she'd make his bed, too.

Antje put her headphones on and listened to some of her quieter music.

"Meet Me On The Equinox" started to play and it certainly made her think of Lucifer.

(Sorry I was a liar liar pants on fire. :( Here’s a post for ya!)

When Lucifer woke up, he sat up and looked around. He was slightly surprised when he was cover in the blanket. Gently touching his face he let out a small hiss, the burn was not that bad but it really made him feel a tad weak. Look for Antje he noticed her laying on the bed, she had obviously been out. Lucifer could tell she had gone and got some things, he could smell everything new. He would need to buy shirts more appropriate for sunlight, like turtle necks and gloves. Picking up the blanket he put it over Antje and then took out one of her headphones, “I am going out for a bit before dawn comes.” He said to her. “Don’t wait up for me.” Lucifer then left closing the door behind him quietly.

It was possibly several hours after sunrise when Lucifer actually got home. When he walked in the door and turned around and locked it. He got a bit of burn again in the same areas as last time, but not as bad. The morning sun did not burn as bad as the afternoon sun. Lucifer walked into the room and placed several large packets of papers onto the coffee table and then sat on the couch. “I am home.” He said in a tired tone, gently rubbing his face. He was happy to be back, and it made him happy to say that he was home. It was strange not being alone anymore, but welcoming.

Antje rolled over to look at him, and his burns looked painful. Why had he gone out again and gotten burnt worse?

"Hi.." she said quietly. He looked just as tired as earlier. Maybe worse.

"I bought some food earlier..." she motioned to the fridge, happy she'd gotten somethings for him.

She was curious about the packets of papers he had, but it was overlooked because of how she was worried about him. When he said "Home" she definitely felt the same as he did; they'd found a place where they could be themselves, not worried about hiding from each other. She had more than one person to look out for. But that realization reminded her of earlier and her stupid confession of affection. Which he sort of had yet to address...

(Make him answer for his crimes xDDD)

Lucifer smiled at her, “I smelt earlier. Where did you get them?” He asked, the darkness of the room was rather pleasant to his eyes. Patting a place next to him on the couch he motioned for Antje to come closer to him. “Come here, let me show you what I got. Also… I need some burn anointment to ease some of the pain.”

Antje got up and stretched, immediately groping for her pants on the ground. She found them easily enough, and she slipped them on. She didn't really know how he'd get any sort of anointment now; even though it was comfortingly dark in here the sun was starting to climb higher in the sky. It was easier for vampires to be burned in the winter than the summer; the sun was closer to the earth in the winter.

She sat down right next to him and before she really noticed, something clicked; she could see in the dark this time. How did that suddenly happen? Earlier her eyes weren't even hurt in the sun. But she could see in the dark blue blackness of the apartment...

She looked at the packets curiously.

"So what are those?" she whispered. She didn't know why she whispered, but it felt too early to speak normally. Or maybe she just liked whispering.

Lucifer smiled a bit and pulled out the papers in the folders. “This paper here is your high school degree. This paper here is an acceptance to a college in a small town called LittleFork. We will catch a cab there tomorrow most likely. Tomorrow I will be leaving to go see if I can find a place to stay, so I need you to stay inside tomorrow night. In less you would like to come with me to the city to find a place to stay?” he offered her.

Antje smiled at his thoughtfulness. "Yes, please. We could buy some paint and tag places we think could work." she beamed. She stretched, raising her arms above her head. She was still very tired from the attack. Human blood would fix that, but sleep killed time better.

"So do you think you'll go to the college, too?" she asked with big green eyes. She wanted him to go with her. Then she realized how clingy she felt. But ever since he had her mark, being away from him felt..wrong.

Lucfier shook his head, “No, I cannot stand the light like you. I burn much too easily. I could take night classes, but that would really mess up you. In less you really want me to, then I guess I can. We will need money eventually though.” Lucifer was going to be a whipped dog by the end of the year. “You might be able to get a part time job at your school if you wanted too.” He added on as an afterthought. Maybe he could get a job at the college. He could be a professor if he wanted to, he had the years of knowledge. It would make hunting a bit harder though. Lucifer leaned closer to Antje, her sent was drawing him in a bit. She was changing again, he could smell it. “What do you want Miss Antje?”
