BloodLines

Him rolling on top of her made her hold her breath. He didn't even need pheremones to make her forget how to breathe. She hoped he didn't notice.

"Eew, Minnesota." she grimaced. She reminded herself that she'd be with him the whole time. "Before we get to the airport I kinda need to pack a little more stuff to be ready to move." she sighed. "That won't take very long anyways, so you can wait on the fire escape and not deal with my room." she smiled softly. Unless he wanted to kiss her again, then he could come in.

"Did you like your presents, by the way? She hadn't remembered him going back and getting them, but the bag was set in the corner.

She idly swung her feet over the side of the bed. And where had her pants gotten to now?!

God, she hoped she didn't accidentally sleep sex. It happened a lot at home, so it probably happened. Luckily for Lucifer she was pretty sure vampires couldn't get morning erections. Super awk.

"So I wasn't kidding about being unable to sleep with pants on." she laughed.

“You can't even walk, how are going to get things from your room?” He asked simply. He did not think they will have time to either. Let alone what if the place had other Vampires or Magic already around? “Antje I don’t think going back to your house is a good choice… I am sorry.”

Pausing he heard her asked if he liked the peasants. Earlier he was the swallow she carved on his back, honestly he did not think the mark would turn into a tattoo, he thought it was going to stay in the form of an ugly scar. He was slightly grateful for that. Glancing at Antje, Lucifer noticed she was looking around, and pants less again. Picking up the pair, he threw it at her and smiled. This was going to be an interesting adventure, he really hoped she would be ok with not being able to go home.

“Look Tante packed this suitcase for you before we left after your blood bath. If you want you can go through it and see what you are looking for is in it or not.” He said, trying to be helpful.

Antje nodded and put her jeans on. She looked at the pretty big luggage bag that Tante used to use. She opened the zippered compartments first, and she was happy to find her iPod and charger, along with her phone. In the other zippered compartment was her industrial 'water bottle', and a large bottle of actual water. Tante knew Antje too well. She opened her bag and found essentially everything she would have packed, and some of the presents she hadn't opened were in there. She had no idea how Tante could fit so much of her clothes in there. She saw a carry-on backpack under it, and in it were her sketchpads and a few mechanical pencils rubberbanded together. Her jewelry box was in there (it was pathetically small), her photo album, her stuffed animal from childhood and her favorite blanket. Tante..She already missed her. Antje didn't even notice she'd started to cry until she let out a shaky sigh. It was all her fault.

Lucifer watched her, he could tell she missed her caretaker. Lucifer knew she would. He told her several months ago not to look down on her parents and caretaker. He saw in the background how much they tried to take care of her and protect her. He guesses she never realized till it was gone. That was not just a human mistake; it is a mistake the world made regularly, no matter what species. Possibly made more often by immortals because they live so long, they forget what loss is.

Walking close to Antje, Lucifer pulled her into a gentle hug. “You have to make sure you take care of yourself from now on ok? Tante would want that.” That was probably the best he could do to cheer her up, Tante might be dead by now. Another reason he would not want to go back to her house. He will leave as soon as she got herself composed again, but for now she might need to just cry.

Antje nodded and squeezed him tightly. He wanted to go soon before anything else happened.

Maybe she'd just cuddle him for the whole plane ride. That would help tremendously.

After a few moments she weakly stood up and grabbed her hairbrush to fix her crazy head. She took deep breathes, trying to filter out her sadness.

"You might wanna feed before we go..." she put her hair brush away and handed him her canteeny thing. "I doubt it would be possible to seduce someone into a commode and eat them." she smiled sadly. She was ready to go. They'd also have to link communicate the whole way, so virgin ears didn't catch any of their secrets.

I hope our plane doesn't crash. She said lightly.

Don’t worry about me, he said picking her up. It looks like you can walk a little so you can walk to the road, I’ll get a wheel chair when we get to the airport. You think you can make it to a taxi? He asked again, in a more gentle voice. Zipping up her suit case he picked it up and placed it on the rollers. He could carry all of this no problem, but it would not look very human. And Don't worry, the plane won't crash. He added on as an after thought.

Antje laughed. You look like a packmule. Gimme my backpack before they think you're whipped or like, my manservant. And if anybody asks if we're married, say no, we're going to Minnesota from the UK. Clearly no married couple would ever go there.

He probably didn't think of that. But she was far from married. That would be hilarious, given her current predicament. She never really thought she wanted to ever get married. She sort of guessed he felt the same way. He probably had arranged marriages up the spout.

"I doubt they have vampire friendly hotels." she added, pulling on her hoodie. God, where would they live?

“I am your pack mule Miss Antje. After all you are now my Princess, and I am your Guardian.” Packing a few books and an extra pair of clothing into a back pack Lucifer smiled at Antje. “We’ll walk slowly ok? And you can hold onto me if you need too.”

They moved quickly through the cold until Lucifer manage to tag a taxi down. When he did he packed it up, asked to go to the airport and made sure Antje was fine. The trip was long because they did not really live all that close to the air port, but luckily it was uneventful. When they arrive at the airport, Lucifer put Antje in a wheel Chair and dragged their things behind him. “Did you want anything to eat?” Lucifer asked. It had been a while since she had human foods.

Antje smiled. "Uh, sure. We have time to kill. You ever eat normal foods?" she figured it'd be funny to see him try human food. She felt bad that he took so little with him. When they finally found a place she'd try to make it what he wanted. She'd never lived with a guy before. Maybe he'd want a separate room. She'd try to keep to candles and little night lights. They'd paint most of the place black, to block out the sun, but maybe she could paint some of the place instead of going outside. She still had no idea how they'd find anywhere suitable to settle down. They'd be outnumbered completely by the masses of humans in the US. They liked accents. And vampires. But she'd miss Rick. She almost wanted to take him with them.

She didn't like the wheelchair, but she was still weak. Luckily he didn't completely mimic her wounds.

“No thanks.” Lucifer said. Human food did not agree with his body at all, especially when he was low on blood. Believe him when he said he was low on blood. The last time he feed was four days before Christmas day, when everything happened. Its been about a week since then, making it almost two weeks since he feed. He might be able to go another week without feeding but he was sure it would start to show in his eyes soon. His personality as well, he will turn into a cranky mess.

Lucifer bought Antje a normal hamburger and let her eat on the way over to the air plane. When they made it to the gate to wait, Lucifer sat down and began to look around their soundings. He was beginning to feel paranoid. Never had he ever felt like a sitting duck, unable to escape with little choice.

Antje looked at him, sensing his sudden panic attack. She honestly almost felt the same, remembering being cut and slashed and tripped and beaten. Even if she weren't thinking about it it would some how creep into her thoughts. She could tell he was thirsty so she gave him her 'water' bottle. She figured he might not take it, but he needed it more than she did. How would he be able to protect her if he were thirsty? He wouldn't be able to get very fresh air, and it would take over a week to find targets. Oh god, he'd have to bite people for her.

She took his hand gently, showing him her reasoning to have him drink from the bottle.

Lucifer quietly took the bottle and held it in one hand. He swallowed, feeling really hungry. Looking up again he gazed around the area, feeling and seeing everything Antje wants him too. So much blood has a bad smell to humans, I am to scared to take it out for now. He said, handing Antje back the bottle. You can give it to me when we get off the plane and get a more private place to stay. Even humans can be sensitive to the smell of blood. Just keep the bottle shut tight for now.

Lucifer sat up in the chair straighter and help Antje’s hand tighter.
Don’t be alarmed, but I think a hunter just happen to stumble upon us. More like me. It probably looks like I have damaged you and I am taking you somewhere. I have a feeling he is going to sit down next to us in a little bit to have a chat with me about taking pretty women places. He laughed under his breath.

Antje laughed out loud. "I dare you to try and be friends." There wasn't much they'd have to talk about, but she'd rather make friends with a hunter than enemies. At least there's so many people here, he couldn't call us out and kill us and be like "I KILLED THEM. YOU'RE SAFE!" and they'd be like "AHHHHHHHHHGH."

She'd never met a hunter before in her life. She actually feared her high school bullies more than a hunter. She was a nervous. So I'm pretty bad at pretending to be human...How are you at it?

Lucifer laughed out loud in return, louder then he meant to. If facing hunters with Antje was going to be this fun, then he was pretty sure they will going to live life together just fine. Challenge accepted! He laughed through the link, you can’t hinder me though; you actually have to help me make friends with him too. Also you don’t have to pretend to be human, you are more human than I am.

As he predicted, a man soon came and stopped right in front of them and leaned down to meet Antje’s gaze. This hunter was no fool, he knew something was different about Antje with one look. This scared Lucifer at first, now Antje was in just as much danger as himself. He calmed himself though, this might work to his advantage. But he was just as confused as Lucifer was when he first meet Antje. “She not human if that is what you are wondering hunter.” Lucifer whispered with a smile. “And she is not under my spell either. This is my friend Antje, I am her guardian Luke. You can sit down if you want, well since I am sure you are going to threaten me about taking women away from their homes at night.”

“Your sarcasm Vamp—Luke, is kind of refreshing from the usual right off the bat threats I get.” The man said, he was not laughing, but frowning deeply. He sat down in front of Antje and looked at her closely. “Can she talk?” He asked.
He is being curious about you, Lucifer said, squeezing her hand gently. This could be very good for us. This guy is not an armature hunter, but he is in no shape to fight a vampire of my caliber.

Antje smiled shyly. I can barely make friends with my own kind. Hoooooow do I do this?

"Erm, hi..." she said awkwardly. She had no idea how cute she was, even to the hunter. She looked at him back a little less curiously. She held Lucifer's hand.

"She speaks. What's your name?"

"Anna." Guess I found my fake name. She pronounced it more like Anya, which was a nickname for Antje. The hunter looked even more curious. He had a deep voice and a light accent; but she liked Luke's better.

"What accent is that, my dear?"

"Anglo-Saxon." he looked at her. "I'm from Germany."

The hunter nodded and relaxed a little. She was very different. And so was her guardian. Perhaps harmless.

To Luke, Antje was being absolutely adorable, to the hunter she was probably looking like she was trying to pull off like every vampire does, charismatly trying to get out of a situation. To every hunter, Vampires are just pretty faces and smooth words, So when you meet one, be straight with them. Don’t try too hard to hid anything and bend your words. Got it?

“So what brings you out here Luke and Anna?” He asked. Of course he had every right too, for the sake of people on the air plane. “Oh, I am running an errand for the Magic. Nothing special.” He said,
Not a lie, I am protecting you for the Magic, or from not sure yet.

“The Magic… asked a Vampire, to run an errand for them?” He said, obviously not believing him. Lucifer leaned closer to Antje and pressed his face on hers and then looked at the hunter. “Yeep, I need to get this girl safely to America. Anna is my top priority. They would never let some rinky dinky changeling handle a job like this.” Lucifer’s voice dropped a bit and it went dark, “Or a normal Darkling.” That was obviously a threat to the hunter to let him know that he was no match for Lucifer if he picked a fight.

The hunters eyes narrowed at Lucifer , picking up on the warning in his voice. He started down Lucifer, gagging what he said and gazed at Antje one more time. He stayed quite for a bit, then took a deep breath. “You are not here to cause trouble?” He asked. Luke laughed, “of course not, trouble to Anna is trouble for me.” He nodded taking the answer, which caused Lucifer to lean away from Antje’s face.

“Oh I do have one question for you hunter.” Lucifer said, just before the hunter started to move away. “What?” He gruff voice asked.

“What is your favorite color?” Lucifer asked with a smile. The hunter looked at Lucifer with a very quizzical look. That was the most emotional he had seen in the hunter since he sat down.

Antje had to cover her face to hide her laughter. She hadn't expected that at all. The hunter didn't get the joke, obviously, and he probably felt like they were making fun of him.

"Black." he said, crossing his arms, testy.

"Black's no fun! Why do you like black?"

"Because darklings' eyes go black when you kill them." it chilled her, but she'd seen it first hand. And he was sort of reacting to Lucifer's threat.

"Dully noted. What's your opinion on Twilight?" she dared. He relaxed a little again, amused. Luke probably didn't know her reference. She got that witty look that Luke loved, and she was sort of doing better dealing with him. I really hope that he's not on the same plane. As soon as we'd get off of the plane he'd pull out the stakes and knives. Or if he asks where we're going we should tell him the place we're supposed to go.. God, she was way too tired to be scared. She hoped the hunter wouldn't be a major bother. She couldn't survive another attack.

Lucifer was smiling, she was getting more confident as she went. The hunter’s eye comment did not even faze Lucifer, because he liked when vampires eyes turned black too. When she said twilight, he thought she meant the setting of the sun, but the vampire hunter seemed to laugh.

“I am glad they don’t do that, then the sun would let them walk around like they own the world.” The hunter replied back. Lucifer gave Antje a questioning look. “What do you mean Anna?” He asked quite seriously. That only made the hunter’s frown twist into an appreciative smile. What ever Antje asked him seems to have made him a lot friendlier. He noticed Antje smiling as well, her clever little smile. He wanted to kiss her forehead and tell her she was doing a good job. “So what is your name hunter?” Lucifer inquired.

“My name is Charles.” He answered simply. Lucifer smiled a toothy smile which mean him frown. “Relax, I bring no trouble. I just wanted to know.” Sighing, Lucifer leaned closer to Antje. He could tell they were out of danger now. The hunter Charles no longer seemed interested in killing them.

oh! Twilight is a horrible vampire romance novel series that's pretty much everything vampire's aren't, and it's just a horrible series. Instead of burning in the sun the vampires sparkle around like faeries. She explained. She was mostly amused that he knew what she was talking about.

"If I ever start sparkling, maul me to death, respectively." she grinned. Charles chuckled.

"The Magic want to protect YOU? From what, being a comedian?" Antje's face fell a bit. Of course he would be sort of insulting, it was his job to kill vampires. But it was still a put down.

"I dunno. They like to **** around, Y'know? But Luke protects me. Nicht Die Zauberers." she got the weird feeling that Lucifer wanted to kiss her or something. That was weird, seeing as he didn't seem very interested like that.

"What's your favorite color, girl?"

"I like color pallets. I paint a lot, so yeah. I like bohemian colors..." she shrugged.

"Draw me like one of your French girls." he grinned. Antje laughed. "That movie wasn't very correct, silly."

"Oh? Were you a survivor?"

Antje shook her head. "I wish! No, I'm circa 1980." She doubted he's swallow that lie with her looking so young, but Luke said she was doing good.

When does our plane leave?

Try to show less emotional when you talk to hunter. He is baiting you to tell more about yourself. Keep it simple. Flip questions back to him. Lucifer couched, this suddenly turned into a lesson on how to deal with hunters. He got the Titanic reference, lucky for him. He laughed in his head at the comedian joke. “The Magic might want to hire me to protect you from being a comedian too, Charles.”

Charles smirked and looked at Luke, he almost forgot he was there, Antje has started to fascinate him so.
Our plane should board in a few minutes, we get to get on first because you are in a wheelchair. “I do hope you are on out flight Charles, I love listening to Anna talk to people. You are her first hunter experience; I sure hope to keep it to her last as well.”

“You have not killed recently have you?” The question was very sudden and very quite. Charles waited for Luke to answer respectfully. “The only thing I have killed was another vampire and his changelings because he thought it would be funny to play
games with my little Anna.” He said truthful. He broke his gaze to look at Antje, he had not brought it up since it happened. He felt the pain or nightmares she’s had over the whole situation. Luke leaned over and hugged Antje into his chest. “Sorry Anna, but I won’t let anything like that happen again.” He was telling a lot of truth, a vampire hunter should never minds when vampires kills each other off. He also really did not want to upset Antje by making her thinking about the event, although it would help her cause a lot more than anything else.

Oh, sorry... I don't think it's so much that I'm talking to a hunter, it's just that I'm not good at talking to people in general...

His hug made her feel better. The loudspeaker called for their flight, and Charles didn't move an inch.

"I'm not on your plane, unfortunately. But it was nice to meet you." he nodded politely and then walked away. Antje settled down in her chair, with her backpack in her lap.

Well, that was interesting...It's too bad we can't cuddle on the plane...

She blushed a little, starting to become comfortable saying things like that to him.

“Nice to meet you too.” Lucifer said. He had to say, that was the most pleasant hunter experience he had ever had. Then again the older ones think before they attack, while the younger hunters see a vampire and just jump on them without thought or reason.

Standing up, Lucifer pushed Antje towards the dock, gazing back up to where the hunter went. He was not watching him, Antje had convinced him of their innocence.
We will be able to cuddle, as much as you want Antje, we should be sitting next to each other. Lucifer tried to calm her. The anxiety about the plane crashing was starting to aggravate him. That was the least of their worries, but he tried not to let it show. Luke had never been on an airplane before but he knew there were very few airplane crashes in history.

Lucifer took note that her parents had gotten them first class; he also noted that the named on their passport were linked by last name.
From now on, we are considered brother and sister. He thought to her, that’s what our passports say. Making sure Antje was in the seat closes to the wall, he took the one right next to her. At least the ride up there was going to be a comfortable one.

Antje put on the seatbelt, and she happily found out how luxurious first class tickets were. The seats were large and cushiony, and there was leg room, and a privacy curtain that didn't quite reach the butt of their seat. There were things to plug into to charge things, and a small screen that could let you watch a movie with headphones. She put up the seat divider and put her head on his shoulder/neck. I wonder what Oregon is like. Maybe it's not as bad as it looks. I heard Minnesota is pretty boring...but that means less trouble for us... Other people began to board, and Antje lazily watched them fill in the cabin. She liked people-watching, but she'd never been so close up before. Barely anyone looked at the two cuddly vampires; they were too self absorbed in their flight.

The flight was for the most part a lot of Antje sleeping. When she was awake Lucifer tried to give her the finer points of surviving as a vampire. Such as: know what age you look like, use it to your advantage. You look 14, not 18 so you act like a cute clueless child. As a pair our act would be the adorable little sister and the super responsible brother. Simple as that. Lucifer also tried to tell Antje how to properly survey her surroundings. You look like you not looking. If you look to much you will look suspicions, look to little and you are asking to get killed. Vampires are easy to spot for hunters; hunters are normal humans so they hide much easier than us.

wouldn’t doubt that he quickly bored her with endless drowning of things to do when surviving. He had no idea what he was going to do with her. Possibly enroll her in school again. Maybe send her to college instead, though a lot of those needed identification. They had minimal identification on them now, but enough to get a job. When they landed, Lucifer immediately booked a new flight for Minnesota that would leave the next day. He then booked a hotel room for the night. When he had settled Antje in for the night he asked her what she wanted to do in Minnesota. He had no idea if she would want to try and school more in college maybe or start working.

“I am not going to baby sit you 24 hours a day not lock you in an apartment or something like that, those days for you are over. You can do whatever you want, as long as you stay within range of me to get to you in times of need. We will have emergency plans and what not, but I am not going to hold you on a leash. I will most likely find a job, during the night of course. Still I have no idea what you are going to do, so I am asking what do you want to do?” He asked, taking off his shirt to get ready for bed. They had separate beds this time.

Antje thought for a moment. "I wish I looked older. Then I could go to college. My parents will get us better papers soon, they know the best people for fake stuff. They can get me my diploma, and I'll have that, so maybe I could do afternoon classes. I know I look really young, but a lot of humans do and they go to college....." she sighed. "I can dress a little older, too. Maybe get like...A wonderbra? Besides, I'm planning on more tattoos. That'll help." she was trying to not show how much she honestly hated herself. She stood up to go to the bathroom, realizing she wanted to shower.
