Blood and Water (♠ Blue Suit ♠)

(I was ... And she was like "Look, I'm sorry, okay?" Which didn't help at all -.- But my dad reproached me if I was to be 'rude' with her, so hfdhufgdhfdg I was pretty much more frustrated than anything else)

Mia's brows scrunched together at the stares, what's with them? She felt anger boiling up within herself, and had opened up her mouth to speak, but was stopped by Tome when he had shooed her back inside. The young girl felt herself growing even more angry, but forced herself to focus on Joachim. He was a baby still, and she knew he wouldn't like it if he was to receive such looks from the villagers.

"I ... can ask" She replied, though each time they grew closer she felt as if there was a knot on her stomach. Gosh, she didn't know she could feel that anxious and that afraid. Finally, when they were close enough to the house, she intertwined her fingers together to stop them from slightly trembling and nodded to herself. "I'll go and ask them while you wait here, ok? So as to not leave Joachim alone" She stated, looking up at Tome, before hopping down the carriage. She could do it, it'd be fine, she could do it.

((Oh geez. Like that helps. I would've just holed up in my room for a while and blasted music or something to avoid blowing up on anyone))

Tome frowned when they got to the house, coming to a stop. He looked over at Mia when she got out, displeased with the idea of her going in alone, and shook his head. "Why don't we just pull up behind the house and if someone complains, we'll move it. Joachim will be fine if he stays in here for a few minutes. It's a familiar place, by now, so he should be all right without us." The upside of that was that no one would probably complain about something housing a 'ferocious', 'dangerous' creature like a dragon. They would keep their distance.

Tome sighed softly, reigns held loose in his hand as he looked at Mia, entreatingly. "I don't want you going in alone. . . You look pale already."

(Yeah, I wasn't the most fun person to be around during those days xD )

"Oh ... Well yeah, that'd be a good idea" Did she really look pale already? Not that it surprised her that much, but she was sort of hoping for it not to be that noticeable. "Thanks, Tome" There was no reason for her to refuse, because truth to be told, she really didn't want to go in there alone, and perhaps Tome would be able to give her courage, even by simply standing by her.

As such, the young girl waited there for Tome to pull up behind the house, either way she had already gotten out the carriage and was by the house's front door, so there was no need for her to accompany him to do that simple task. As she waited, she allowed for her eyes to skim all over the place, if only as a mean to distract herself. It wasn't any better, though, she could feel the villager's stares on her face and back, which she wasn't used to. They didn't intimidate her, more like angered her actually, what did they have against them to begin with?

Then it sank ... Oh! They didn't have anything against her, it was against who her company was. It made sense, of course her dad had chosen such a village, one in which non-human beings were looked down on, hated or feared. Such idiots She thought to herself rather bitterly. Something within her boiled, and it was amazing how she had been previously scared to be currently boiling with anger.

"What?" She snapped - almost snarled actually - as a woman and her husband passed just by her, muttering some things she couldn't understand while looking at her. Both of them scowled and threw her a reproaching look before walking away, mumbling still. Mia simply glared at them "Hateful people" She declared, arms crossing across her chest. For a moment there she had forgotten about her father and everything else due to the anger.

Tome made sure to waste no time, but didn't quite hurry, not wanting to upset Joachim by going too fast. He stopped the carriage at a place where he could tie the horses and made sure they had a bit of grass to eat where they stood before he could come out and move them again later on. He went to Joachim in the wagon after the horses were settled, and spent as little time as he could making sure the dragon was soothed. He told Joachim he and Mia would only be just inside that house there, and instructed the dragon to cry for them if he needed them, or if anyone approached the wagon, but otherwise to stay as quiet as he could until Tome or Mia returned. Joachim wasn't happy, and he cried quietly, but Tome gave him a kiss and an embrace and he calmed a bit.

With Joachim as taken care of as he could be, Tome walked back around the house to where Mia stood waiting, ignoring the looks he received with practiced ease. He was used to it, really. It didn't matter the onlooker's reasonings, that sort of reproachful, hating and slightly nervous look was all too familiar.

"Why are you yelling?" He asked, confused and a bit concerned, when he reached her. "Did someone threaten you?" He hadn't heard her words, only the sharp tone of her voice and the slightly raised volume. "Did someone approach you?" He knocked as he waited for her answer, knowing she wouldn't do so very willingly on her own. He didn't want to rush her or make her even more nervous, but he wasn't sure how long they could leave Joachim outside by himself before he started to cry or tried to get out of the wagon on his own without the ramp down.

"None of those, they just keep staring at us and I don't like it" Mia replied, tightening the grip around herself, as if she was trying to maintain the composure by doing so. Tome may be used to that, but Mia most certainly was not, if they had some issue with them, why didn't they say so right straight on instead of throwing looks and talking behind their backs?

She hadn't even noticed Tome had already knocked on the door until someone opened it before them. Mia's anger dwindled and her posture stiffened, but apart from that she didn't move an inch. "Oh, it's you" The woman's voice was just as cold and disdainful as ever. Mia turned her head to the front to meet Iris' icy green stare before the corners of her mouth twitched lightly "Yeah, it's me. You sent me that letter, didn't you?" The woman didn't make any effort in hiding the displeasure from her face, even her body language and the way she stood in the doorway made it evident "Unfortunately, yes. But you took ages" Her voice was sharp and not at all gentle.

For a moment, Mia's eyes widened. Iris did look wasted away, and her hair was not neatly done as usual. Had her father already ...? She couldn't finish her sentence. She lowered her gaze and unfolded her arms, allowing for them to weakly hang on her sides. "Well what exactly are you waiting for? Are you planning on standing there all night or are you going to come in already?" Iris asked, and Mia's heart skipped a beat before she looked up at her. Then she wasn't too late? She wouldn't be inviting her in if that was the case. The sandy haired girl's lips pursed together and her fingers wrapped tightly around the edge of the simple dress she was wearing.

She nodded before taking a step to the front "Hey, hey" Iris suddenly exclaimed while pressing a hand to Mia's shoulder, pushing her lightly backwards "You are not really stupid enough to believe that I'll let that into my home, do you?" Mia blinked, looking back while having no idea what was that woman talking about "I mean him" Clicking her tongue, Iris stated while pointing at Tome with her finger. Mia looked at him before she returned her gaze to the front. First, she frowned before she shot the woman a deathly glare "His name is Tome, not that, you better remember it" She practically spat, clearly offended, before letting go of her dress and slipping one of her hands into his "And you will let us in unless you want for me to simply go away and keep on forgetting I'm related to that man you call your husband"

Tome only raised an eyebrow when the woman looked at him, noticing the way her eyes flicked momentarily between his eyes and his ears. They were the most obviously different things about him, after all, beyond a slightly different skin tone than the usual human shades. He curled his fingers around Mia's when she defended him, and refused to budge only because he knew she needed him. If this had been a safe place, one where she was comfortable, he would have simply waited outside to avoid further conflict. But not with this woman. Not with the people that caused her pain.

He squeezed Mia's hand, gently, but his expression was harsh when he looked at the woman that stood before them. "And what, pray tell," He said, low and not quite threatening, "Do you think you could do to keep me out?" He let that hang there, without explanation. He didn't need to tell her that he could quite likely kill her without touching her. He could leave all of that up to her imagination. There was no need to make things even more hostile than they already were, but a bit of healthy fear couldn't hurt overly much.

Mia noticed Iris colour changing, from normal to red, and from red to white. If she hadn't been really uncomfortable with the whole situation to begin with, she may have enjoyed the fear that had washed over the woman's features. She hesitated, but finally, though reluctantly, moved aside in silence to let them in. Mia didn't even bother to look at her while both her and Tome stepped inside, because she already felt it, how Iris eyes were burning holes into the back of her skull. Really, she had never done anything to the woman, why did she hate her so much? Right, because her father felt just the same way. She felt something pulling at her stomach and her grip around Tome's hand tightened lightly.

"He's upstairs" Iris finally declared, walking past them while practically pressing her back against the wall, as if she couldn't bear to even touch them by accident. "Just ... don't let Samael see him ... please" Suddenly she sounded way too tired and weary, and the look on her face softened in sadness when she mentioned Mia's dad. It was such a pitiful image, that Mia could feel herself feeling compassion towards the dark haired woman. But then her eyes filled with resentment once again as soon as they met Mia's and that feeling was gone. That woman hated her with her whole being and that was enough to make Mia feel almost the same, she couldn't understand her. "It is bad enough for him to see you, you'll kill him if he finds out you even resemble that wh*- woman in your preferences" Her eyes were on Tome when she said so. That's it, Mia didn't feel pity for her, not at all. Her chin tensed up, but apart from that she did not say a thing and simply pulled Tome upstairs with her.

Tome considered, for a long moment as they walked, both scaring Iris and going into the room just to defy her. But the man inside was at his deathbed, Tome knew, and even he had a sense of decency. He stopped outside the room and took both of Mia's hands in his, looking at her with concern. "Can you go in alone?" He asked, quietly and gently. "I can cover up and turn my back." The man would probably hardly notice Tome at all, given the weak state he must be in, but he could keep his inhuman features hidden if she needed him to be nearby. If not, he would simply wait outside the room and come in if needed.

(sorry it's short, off to work!))

Mia didn't want to go in alone, or at least that's what she had thought until the two of them were standing before the door together. But being there, with her hands in Tome's, she felt much braver than before. A small and faint smile crept over her lips before replying "I can go in alone" She nodded, giving his hands a soft squeeze before she pulled her own back. Perhaps by having him waiting outside the room would be enough for her to feel safe. She nodded again, this time while taking in a deep breath before she opened the room's door and slid herself inside, leaving the door just partially open in the process. He was ... Well he didn't seem like her dad at that moment. He was much thinner than the last time she had seen him, his hair was tousled and he was as pale as the blankets he was beneath of. She took hesitant steps towards his bed while nervously running her fingers up and down her arms. And then, when she finally kneeled down by him, she saw his eyes fluttering before he pried them open.

His blue eyes took in his surroundings before they laid on her, and just then she felt herself stopping breathing. He looked at her, and at the same time it felt as if he looked through her, as if she wasn't there to being with. She shifted a bit in her crouched position before speaking "D- Samael" Somehow she couldn't bring herself to call him dad, even though she called him that in her mind. The corners of his mouth raised into a weak smile, leaving Mia confused. Why wasn't he glaring at her? Her father hadn't smiled at her ever since she was just a little girl. He opened his mouth to speak but no words came out and Mia scooted a bit closer in hopes that it'd help somehow. Despite it all, despite the hate, the resentment and everything else, he was her dad, he was her dad and he was dying. "Gwen" His voice was hoarse and barely audible but Mia was near enough to hear them.

Looking down, eyes wide, she saw his hand on top of hers. He believed her to be her mom. But he hated mom, why would he speak her name in such a tender and sweet voice? "You've come, Gwen" He muttered softly. Mia felt the tears welling up, but didn't allow herself to cry. She couldn't tell her father it was her, not her mom, and with that thought in mind she placed her other hand above his. "Yes, I'm here, Samael" She said gently. Her father shifted a bit, his eyes softened before they glistened with yet to be shed tears. "Have you come for me?" He asked her, to which Mia could just shake her head. "No, not yet" Mia stated "Then why did you come?" His brow raised ever so slightly, and Mia's grip around his hand tightened a bit "To see you"

Having said that, something shone on her father's eyes, and she recognised a bit of the man she had known before mixed with the one she had came to hate. "To see me?" His voice was a little steadier than before, but the tone he used was pained, and Mia had to fight the urge to scoot away. "Why would you come to see me? Why? After all this time? What for?" Mia nibbled down on her bottom lip before she replied "Because I wanted to" Her father shook his head at her statement "No, that's a lie. You've come to mock me, right? Finally, you get to laugh at me as you did all those years ago" His voice was still a whisper, but it was hard and ruthless "Like when you left me for that elven king and got pregnant with his child. I loved you, Gwen, you were my life and you betrayed me" Mia winced when her father squeezed her hand "No, no, I-" She started to excuse herself, but was cut off when her dad raised his hand towards her, causing for the words to vanish as she watched his hand in horror "We had a child, we had a little girl, Gwen, and now I can't bear to even look at her" She could tell by his voice filled with resentment that he was suffering and for a reason unknown to her, she was paralysed as his hand closed itself around her throat "Why? Was it because he was the elven king? Was it because he was a king?" Mia's eyes were wide in horror, and she quickly raised her hand to stop him from choking her, how could someone that weak have so much strength to begin with? "Answer me goddammit!" She scratched his skin, as she tried to get away, but she felt so weak, so tiny and so weak.

(No worries! c: Sorry if mine is very long though ^^')

Tome was tense from the moment the man started talking. He could all but feel Mia's tension, and it was driving him insane. Having not wanted her alone in the room with her father in the first place, he was even angrier when he could hear the sadness and strain in her voice. Could this man never stop torturing her, not even on his deathbed? And Tome couldn't do anything about it, against her wishes, which ate at him too much inside. He'd spent too long taking care of her, and before that taking care of Fawn, to stand for any sort of abuse such as this. But he held back. Because she wanted him to.

It wasn't until he heard movement, and a choked breath, that he finally took action.

He hardly had the presence of mine to flip up the hood of his traveling jacket as he walked into the room, and keep his head angled down. He needn't have bothered. The man's attention was on Mia, and Tome had only to keep himself turned to the side when he took the man's wrist. His ears and eyes hidden from view, he pushed his thumb into the pressure point on the man's wrist until he released and Tome could pull Mia away. There would be nothing broken or otherwise injured, not for more than the next hour or so, and he still had her free.

"Don't you dare touch her again," Tome hissed, though he knew the man was likely to never get the chance again, given his health. To think, Tome had considered, however briefly, offering what little healing magic he had for the man. Not anymore. There would be just a bit less suffering in the world if he let this man die.

As soon as she was released from her father's grip, Mia scooted closer to Tome, wheezing. She ... she had really been chocked by her own dad. She took a few seconds to return her breathing to its normal pace, and when she did she just stood up in silence, remaining close to Tome.

Her father looked at Tome for a moment, confused, but after a second or two he laid back down, his stare acquiring a distant look. Mia looked at him for a few longer before she looked away. Seconds ago he had his hand wrapped around her throat in an iron grip, and now he was back to his weak and sickly state. She didn't get it. Just what kind of disease did he have?

"Didn't I tell you not to let him in?" Iris voice was heard on the doorway before she stepped into the room, seemingly horrified. Mia's brows scrunched together as she looked at her bending down near her dad, occupying the place she had been occupying before "Oh, my love, what have this two done to you?" She asked him with concern as she ran her fingers through Samael's sandy locks of hair. "Get out, you have done enough for one night" Iris didn't even look at them while she shooed them with a wave of her hand, as Mia's dad looked just ... lethargic.

Mia raised one hand to her neck, wincing a bit at the touch of her fingers, it felt as if it would leave a mark, at least for a few days, she didn't really know a man on his deathbed could have that much of strength. With her other hand she tugged on Tome's clothes so as to get him to leave the room with her, she didn't notice it herself but her grip was shaky due to the shock "Let's leave" She muttered, she really wanted to leave that house now.

Tome started to move as soon as Mia spoke, ignoring Iris until Mia told him to move. He took her outside, and once clear of the door he picked her up into his arms and just carried her through the hall, down the stairs, and out the back door. He took her out to their carriage and climbed easily up into the back of it with her to sit with Joachim and hold her in his lap, cradle her close and try not to overreact. He wanted to kill that man, but sickness would claim him soon no matter what, and shortening that sentence wouldn't make her any happier.

"Let me see." He said gently, once they'd settled, and pulled her hand gently away from her throat. He touched his fingers very lightly to her skin, expression worried, and tightened his other arm's grip around her shoulders. "Let me heal you." He could do at least that much. He didn't want her to struggle to breathe, or even to feel the ache in her throat, or see the bruises if she caught sight of her reflection. Quietly, Tome muttered incantations into his palm, and when a small light was there he touched his fingertips to her throat again, let the light sink into her skin and soothe her hurts.

". . . Let's go home." He whispered quietly, as the red marks started to fade, the inside of the carriage ever so faintly lit by the magic's light. "Do you want to go home?" Being here wouldn't make her happy. Her father was already gone, whether she recognized that or not. By the look he'd seen on her face, he had a feeling she did.

A sigh of relief had left Mia's lips as soon as the pain was gone, she'd have been able to cope with it if it was to be healed on it's own and over the days, but she was grateful to Tome for taking care of it. She gave him a thankful smile before automatically running her fingers across her neck again, it was all better now.

When he suggested for them to go home, though, her smile died out at the same time she lowered her eyes. Yeah ... her father was gone already, that much she could tell, and he had actually tried to choke her a few minutes ago but ... "I haven't said goodbye yet" She finally stated, voice low at first "I haven't said goodbye as his daughter" She wanted to do that much, even if it was only to say 'I'm your daughter, goodbye' or something like that. This time she wouldn't be as foolish so as to approach him, though.

Having said that, she settled against Tome's chest "Tomorrow after I do so, let's leave" She added, she didn't want to overstay either. "Would that be okay?" She asked, knowing that perhaps he wouldn't like it, but it was just her last chance, she wanted to say goodbye to her dad for good.

Tome listened to her closely, intently, watching her expression and trying to piece out all the information he could. He shouldn't be analyzing her, but he needed to know if she truly wanted to be here. But though her words were sad, they were sincere, and he bit his tongue for a moment to avoid saying anything callous before he could think it through. He wasn't very good at it, usually, but he had been trying harder for her.

". . . Okay." He said, softly, holding her close with both arms around her. "Okay, if that's what you want. . . But I won't have you alone with him again." He would cover up and stay out of the way but he wouldn't leave her, not even with a dying man. "And we leave as soon as we can."

Joachim, having sat up as soon as they entered, rumbled worriedly at them and stretched out as much as he could in the carriage to rest his head against their legs, looking up at them with big, sad eyes. He made a mournful sort of sound and scooched closer to lick at one of Mia's hands, resting his head on her lap.

Tome sighed and stroked a hand over the dragon's head. "Let's sleep outside, where he can move freely. If we stay behind the house and behind the carriage, it's not likely anyone will notice." Joachim would be more comfortable sleeping outside on the grass, and Tome would let Mia sleep in his arms if it made her comfortable enough. He could sleep most anywhere, if he did decide to sleep. He just wanted them both to be okay.

Mia nodded, silently agreeing with Tome's conditions before Joachim caught her attention, causing for her to look down at him. It was nice, being comforted by the two of them, that is. She shifted a little before she reached for him to gently caress his head. She had just lived a pretty terrifying moment for her, but right now, in the somewhat small carriage space she felt happy and safe.

"Okay" Mia nodded when Tome suggested sleeping outside, and crawled her way out of the carriage before jumping down "Let me get this down" She exclaimed before setting the ramp down for Joachim. A mild breeze blew gently against her body while she waited for both of them to get out of the wagon. At least, while they remained on the back of the house, they wouldn't get unwanted looks from the villagers.

She ran a hand through her hair before she threw a bit of a tentative glance towards the house. It wasn't that big actually, though it wasn't small either. Truth to be told, it was bigger than her childhood's house to say the least. Suddenly, something caught her eye, a curtain being slightly drawn back and a face appearing just by it. Mia made an attempt to quickly divert her gaze, but her eyes met that ones of a little girl, they were a pair of big and round emerald green eyes.

The girl returned Mia's stare with curiosity and a hint of fascination, and Mia realised the little girl didn't seem to hate her just yet, perhaps because she didn't even know who Mia was. She waved her little hand at her and Mia couldn't stop herself from smiling before she raised her index finger to her lips, so as to tell the little girl to keep quiet about them. The little girl nodded, mirroring Mia's gesture by pressing her own finger against her lips with a knowing look. As the little girl copied Mia's actions one couldn't help it but notice just how much did the two of them resembled one another, even though they were just half-sisters.

Tome soothed Joachim into standing in the carriage, promising him it wouldn't move, and pet the dragon a bit before finally coaxing him out and down the ramp. Tome paused, looking at Mia as Joachim made his way down and wondering who she could possibly be looking at in the house. Frowning, the half breed followed her gaze towards the building, and the crease in his brow smoothed into a sort of confused surprise at the sight of a small girl in one window. He thought for a moment that he should cover up, or push Joachim back, but they were both out of hiding and that was done with already.

She was . . . cute. The little girl, despite the difference in age, shared some of Mia's features, and he had a thought of her looking like that as a child, even as he debated whether or not to mention it to Mia at all. Joachim, curious, looked where Mia was looking, and took longer to find the girl than Tome had, but perked up when he noticed her. He sat back on his hind legs and reared up a bit to flop one of his big paws up and down at her in a wave - Mia had taught him that, when he was still small, and he seemed to like doing it to humans because they usually smiled when he did. He did like children, though Tome knew the dragon hadn't learned his strength quite well enough yet to be trusted with them without supervision.

Sighing softly, Tome hopped down and put the ramp up again, a blanket thrown over his shoulder and a jacket in his hand. He kept his back to the girl even though part of him wanted nothing more than to look at that little version of Mia again, not wanting to scare her. ". . . Here, put this on." He said quietly to Mia, holding out the jacket to her. "Joachim will help keep us warm." But he knew Mia wasn't as resistant to cold as he was. He would hold her and stay in Joachim's little sleeping ball he usually positioned himself in, and they could wrap up in the thick blanket.

When the little girl had seemingly let out a surprised gasp before covering her mouth with both of her hands, Mia's eyebrow had shot up in curiosity before she looked back. Ah ... so that's why? Well it was most likely that the girl wasn't used to dragons, much less to waving dragons. Mia returned her gaze to the window just in time to see her little 'sister' chuckling before she returned Joachim's wave, quite effusively so.

"... Here, put this on." Mia diverted her gaze from the house once again and her eyes met Tome's before they lowered to the jacket he was holding out for her "Thank you" She said with a smile as she took it from him. She put it on right away, enjoying the warm feeling it gave her.

Then, she threw a brief glance towards the house just to notice that the little girl was already gone. She sighed a bit, before she turned her head back to Tome and Joachim. "Let's go to sleep" She declared with a pretty much content smile as she softly caressed Joachim's head and looked at Tome.

Tome watched Mia for a moment, wondering what she was thinking, then finally just nodded and waved Joachim with him. He directed the dragon to the area behind the carriage, where he would sleep, and waited while Joachim tamped down the grass, spinning in a slow circle and dragging his tail around before finally laying down. He settled curled almost fully into a ball, but with a space open in the middle for them, and kept his head up to watch them eagerly.

Tome took Mia's hand and pulled her gently with him, taking a seat on the ground and leaning against Joachim. When he was comfortable, he gave her hand a little tug, so she could sit in his lap or lean back against his chest, or just curl up with him. Joachim would keep them warm, for the most part, and they had a blanket or two to wrap up in together. He just wanted to get some sleep, so she could be ready for the next day's events, and their trip home.

Mia smiled a bit before she opted by sitting down by him, never letting go of his hand in the process, instead taking a hold of it with her other hand as well as she leaned back into Joachim, hers and Tome's arms pressed against each other "Thank you for accompanying me today" She finally declared with a low sigh, tilting her head to the side so as to rest is against his shoulder.

For a brief moment she remained in that position, before she actually raised her head a little to look up at him, at his face, and soon she found herself staring at his eyes. She had always thought they had a really pretty colour, like liquid gold, and she liked it, well more like she liked him if she had to be absolutely honest. Sometimes, that feeling would just flood her heart, and it'd warm her up with the most sweetest sensation she had ever experienced. It was sometimes ... and right now was one of those 'sometimes'.

The more she looked at him, the more she liked him. She did not only see his face, she saw everything that made up who he was, and she couldn't stop herself from loving that more and more, even the things she hadn't like in the past, even those because they were also part of him and of who he was. Just then she'd really feel the urge to...

She nibbled on her bottom lip and before even noticing it herself she was already opening her mouth to ask the question "Umm Tome can I...?" She paused and couldn't really bring herself to finish the sentence. No ... it'd be really embarrassing to ask for that sort of thing out loud, and she really wanted to ... Well why to ask in the first place? She pulled her head away from his shoulder, stretching her neck a bit and, after having caught his attention, it was easier for her to lift her face a little and press her lips against his. It was a soft kiss, a gentle touch that didn't last long before she pulled back, smiling a bit and rather tentatively as she looked up at him, hands curled around his hand still.

Tome was never really sure what to do when someone thanked him, because they so rarely did. When Mia thanked him, he could only look away a bit, unsure and uncomfortable, and make a quiet sound of affirmation to show he'd heard. He didn't look at her until she spoke again, and then it was only to frown at the look on her face. There was something unsure there, something hesitant, and yet a determination he couldn't place.

When her lips touched his, his cheeks began to pink almost immediately. He was so . . . unfamiliar with things like this. To date he had comforted her and been close to her and touched her but had never thought of anything overtly romantic. He loved her, truly he did, but . . . through his life it had never really occurred to him that anyone would want to touch him so tenderly.

His eyes shifted away, uncomfortable and unpracticed, but he reached up to rest his fingertips against her jaw, to keep her gently in place so as to kiss her again, soft and short. He just wanted to hold her, and be safe somewhere.

Uneasiness ... Yeah, that's pretty much what she had felt when she noticed Tome uncomfortable. She backed away a bit, so as to give him some space, fearing that she had done something incredibly wrong. But then she felt his fingertips pressing against her jaw and she froze, eyes slightly wide in surprise as she turned her gaze to meet his.

She closed her eyes when his lips brushed hers and even trembled, in a way she hadn't done when she had been the one to kiss him. She loved him. She yearned for his touch, and it hadn't hit her that much up until that night. She had told herself it was enough, but it frankly surprised her and sort of scared her just how much she felt herself wanting to kiss him, to hold him and never let go. She had never wanted someone else's touch as much as his.

Mia raised her hand to place it on top of his while she used her other one to press it against his cheek, their foreheads brushing ever so slightly. However, she couldn't push him to feel the same. She didn't have experience with all of this but she knew Tome was even worse than her on that matter. He was much more unexperienced than her. She sighed softly "I love you" She exclaimed, and would keep on repeating it over and over again, because she just couldn't hold back her feelings.

Tome kissed her a few more times, after he gathered the courage for the first. Her hands over his had his mind struggling to keep up, to accept the idea that she wanted to keep him there, that she didn't want him to stop. He nuzzled her gently when she broke away to speak, and only ducked his head low when she continued to profess her love for him, ears burning.

"I love you too." He managed faintly, hardly a whisper to her continuous repetition of that same phrase. He hid his face in the crook of her neck, arms curling tight around her to hold her close as he could get her, and he couldn't make himself let go. If he let go, the ache in his lungs would never stop. If he let go, his heart would never stop hurting. If he let go, he would look at her, and if he looked at her he wasn't sure he would like what he saw.

Joachim, sensing the strange but somewhat happy feelings coming from his surrogate parents, swished his tail a bit next to them and made a curious sort of growl. He folded a wing over their heads to keep them protected and close, and twisted to nuzzle into Mia's side because he couldnt quite reach Tome. He wanted in on hugs, too.

Mia's heart as if it'd burst out of her chest at any time. Her face was flushed, blood rushing to her cheeks, and her heart was hammering so loudly that she feared it it may warn Iris and her father about their presence. Each time he kissed her, she wanted to kiss him more, and that sort of intimate feeling between the two stunned her quite a lot.

When his arms wrapped around her, and she felt his face hidden in the crook of her neck, she breathed in softly. Without noticing it herself, her arms were already around him, and her fingers had curled lightly around the back of his shirt. She closed her eyes, and just enjoyed the closeness in silence. Her body was practically pressed against his, but she didn't mind, on the contrary, she liked it. She liked having him that close more than she should have.

It felt like eternity had gone by when Joachim nuzzled into her side, as if both her and Tome had been frozen in time. A pleasant feeling actually. She shifted a bit, though not completely, because she didn't want to let go just yet. It was enough, though, to unwrap one arm from Tome's back and use it to somehow reach for the dragon and bring him closer to them tenderly and carefully.

(Gosh, sorry, Nala. Due dates for my projects started popping out so out of the blue that I could only spend my time in finishing them in time all along D: They were killing me! Fortunately, finals are next week and I'll be free!)

((It's okay :) I've had a busy schedule as well. I had to go for a jury duty summons today D: And they didn't even pick anyone! They brought us in, made us sit around for over an hour so all the late people could come in, waited longer, finally brought us into a courtroom, spent forever taking roll call, and then the judge went over some basic things of what to expect from jury duty, told us the bare basics of the case, gave us a questionnaire to fill out, and told us to come back again on the 28th. It was so stupid! DX I don't wanna go back! I wanted to get it over with TODAY))

Joachim rumbled happily once Mia was touching him, and just sort of rested his head there, content with his involvement in the embrace that was happening. He licked her hand a few times, excited for the new thing Mommy and Daddy were doing by sitting so close to each other. Now he could use the wing around them to keep them both safe and warm, without having to pull them together himself.

Tome pulled a bit away when Mia moved, relaxing slowly and looking at Joachim where the dragon was looking at both of them. "Do . . ." He paused, nervously, and patted a hand gently against his own leg. "Do you want to sit here?" He asked quietly, wondering if it would be seen as forward, or just strange. "The - The ground will be cold as the night goes on. . ." He just wanted to be sure she would be healthy and comfortable.

((Sorry it's a tad short))

(A jury? :o Wow! I mean, it does sound like a drag to have you going over and not being done with it, but being a jury sounds so ... serious, I don't know xD If you don't mind me asking, what's the case about?)

Mia rested her chin against Tome's shoulder before she tilted her head to the side, her hair brushing against the crook of his neck. Maintaining their embrace, she looked over Joachim, eyes softening when he started licking her hand. Even though she hadn't gone through the most pleasant experience just a couple of minutes ago, this moment, this so very precious moment, washed away any negative feeling that could be lingering in her heart.

To be honest, the young girl couldn't remember when had been the last time she had felt so ... secure in somebody else's arms. And even though her father had been one of those who had given her that sort of comfort, with Tome was different. It was not only that sense of security she hadn't experienced in a long time, it was a sense of completeness she hadn't experienced ever before. Not only him, Joachim had helped in feeling a void in her heart, making him absolutely important for her. In a way, she did feel him as her own child.

When Tome pulled away, Mia allowed him to do so, though a part of her was rather reluctant about it. When he started speaking, she turned her head to look at him, their eyes meeting as her brow raised slightly. His question, though, surprised her, and she blinked as she looked down at his leg. Now ... she kinda felt like a child. But ... She hadn't been pampered in ages ... What was wrong in allowing it a little? Slowly, she returned her eyes to his before nodding. "If you don't mind" She replied, smiling a bit.

(It's not, don't worry ^^)
