Being the Caretaker Again

Playing with his puppy in his chair, Sam "walked" and played with the dog, pretending to throw a ball to it and then Goldie "catching" it. Gleeful babbles filled the kitchen, and the angel adoringly observed his nephew.

(Skip to another time, or the next day, maybe?)

(Sure.)

The next morning, Dean is busy making breakfast for him, Sam and Cas. He'd invited Cas to spend the whole day with them, knowing how much he loved being around Sammy.

Sitting at the table, arms crossed in front of his torso, Cas watched the little one bouncing excitedly in his highchair. Chestnut hair framing Sam's face, it moved to its own accord, sometimes getting in the taller's face.

The former hunter was so happy. He, Daddy, and Uncle Cas were going to the zoo today. That meant he could see animals of all kinds; zebras, monkeys, lizards, anything. Internally promising himself that he'd be a really good boy today, Sam squealed rather loudly on accident.

Dean smiled as he tied a bib around Sam's neck and kissed his forehead. "You hungry, baby boy?" Dean asks, holding up a bowl of oatmeal.

Gurgling, the hazel-eyed baby ate all of his breakfast, already starting to be well-behaved. Daddy's cooking was the best.

Nuzzling in his Daddy's touch, the younger cooed before sucking on his fingers, gurgling, "Z-Zzzoo?"

Cas smiled, blue eyes crinkling at the corners, he knew as well as Dean, that the zoo was Sam's main priority.

"Yes, Sammy, we're going to the zoo, today. You're so smart." Dean cooed, as he lifted Sam out of the highchair and carried him to the nursery to change him into a clean outfit for the zoo.

Blushing at the sudden praise he was receiving from his Daddy, the long-haired baby wiggled and smiled while biting his lower lip. Babbling to his Daddy and Uncle, who was standing in the doorway, bubbles of excitement began to form in Sam's tummy.

Stalking closer to his nephew, Castiel smoothed Sam's hair, "Would you like to bring Goldie, little one?"

Nodding vigorously, the taller was given his best friend.

Dean smiled and grabbed Sam's diaper bag, then ushering Cas and Sam out to the Impala, wanting to get a head start to avoid traffic.

Scooping up his nephew, Castiel quickly buckled Sam into his carseat before sitting himself in the front passenger's seat. The angel couldn't have asked for a better place to be, with the two people he loved the most, and also just not having to worry about any business in heaven.

Playing with Goldie, babbling and saying simple words in the retriever's ear, Sam patted the window beside him as the scenery flew by.

As the zoo later pulled into view, Sam squealed loudly and was jittering with anticipation.

Castiel smiled at the excitable baby and exited his own seat, then removed Sam from his carseat, "Someone is very excited."

Putting Sam into his stroller, Castiel made sure the Sam had his blanket in case of any needed instance, along with Goldie proudly perched beside the little one.

Still making happy, rather loud noises of excited noises, Sam made grabby hands at both his Uncle and Daddy; planting hyper, wet kisses on both of their faces.

Dean smiled and kissed Sam back, ruffling his soft hair, as he gave him a pacifier to suck on, trying to keep him occuppied.

Rolling the stroller carrying their baby boy into the zoo, crowded with people and the sounds of the animals that inhabited that place, Cas was fascinated with it all. Of course, his whole time in Heaven as an angel, he watched from above, seeing everything. But it wasn't the same as actually experiencing it all.

Sam was also having a blast, seeing all kinds of animals like the ones in his books and going nuts at getting to look at each one. Sometimes he'd copy the calls they made too, like an elephant or a tiger.
