I'm going to condense everything we discussed in the discord server before the RPN update for streamlining (and so we're all on the same page):
  • Reopening the role-play once we arrive in Glewick City. WlfSamurai WlfSamurai said that we lost some people already, and has considered the idea of reopening the interest check to acquire one or two more newcomers. Still undecided on this one. Do we want to keep the group as is or do we want to recruit again?
  • Character arcs! Someone brought up the idea of doing them once we arrive in Glewick City. In short, it would be you—the writer—becoming a GM for a limited time as you take your character on a journey (maybe something about their past, where they came from, what they believe, how they go forward, et cœtera) and peel their layers. Why is doing a character arc (or an equivalent) a good idea? 1. Role-play plot. 2. Show off your character! You are the centre of attention and get to learn about them! How you share them is entirely up to you! 3. Sub-plots, character bonding, world-building, et cœtera!
  • The 'Lore' tab: it's up! Though ... empty.
    • Human characters: @ArisenMoon has already started thinking about possible lores, and he brought up the idea of doing something about races. It's bare-bones right now, but there was a 'Human Rebellion' notion tossed around. Regardless of where we decide to go with that, that means that all human characters must have a unified background. You can't have someone saying 'This human king is the King of A' and another going 'This human king died millions of years ago and A is in a state of disrepair'. Point is: make sure it's discussed so there's an agreement and a unified history. As for the other races who are stand-alone, up to you!
    • Royalty characters (e.g. Teh Frixz Teh Frixz and Silvana Silvana plus any more that we don't know about), in lieu of what was previously said, we discussed a symbol that identifies the royalty. It can be royal papers with a seal, it can be a house sigil, it can be anything. PJ-Flash PJ-Flash brought up the idea of using the Major Arcana tarot cards (since that's very Gothic) as a way of identifying royalty. There are 22 Major Arcana cards, but with history (let's say some houses married together or were wiped out), there would be 11-ish nobility houses left (again, up to the group to decide on this. We do not have to write out all the houses. We can just decide a number and only 3 actually emerge in the role-play). Each house would have a card: The Hanged Man, The Chariot, The High Priestess, et cœtera, and it would serve as a house sigil, as a well as the identifying symbol of the nobility. There was also the idea of using an actual deck of 52 cards as a nobility identifier (King, Queen, Ace, Red Heart, et cœtera).
TL; DR, read the bolded statements and share your thoughts/opinions!
 
Ronan Ronan , a reply is forthcoming. I'm sorry I haven't been active in the RP lately, I've been preoccupied with coding and moving slowly because of the update. The layout is awkward on mobile.
 
I also would like do to flash-backs as separate scenes/episodes outside the main RP. But more on this when we get there.
 
I’m gonna start a discussion about the previous post I made so we can get the ball rolling.

  • Personally, I think we should clean up the CS thread before recruiting one or two more, but I’m also comfy with the cast as is.
  • I am 100% yes for character arcs! Some of you have made really rich characters and I would love to see and learn more about them!
  • The lore thread about background races. I’m honestly not sure where I stand on this one. WlfSamurai WlfSamurai mentioned at the beginning that he wants to keep the role-play open without ‘hard’ set facts. If we set up a ‘This is what happened before the races became divided’, then everything we write going forward will have to adhere to that. Maybe something a little bit more flexible? Something only about the recent years?
  • Royalty identifiers. I actually like the Major Arcana idea. It’s autonomous and grants the royal characters creative freedom to do what they want with it, which is the most important thing. So I’m a yes for this!
Anywho, please discuss. Feedback, ideas, agree/disagree, let’s build on the role-play!
 
Apologies for not posting these past few days, got a sudden load of responsibility heaped on me at work. ANYWAY

I agree with Ronan, the cast we have feels pretty cozy and plenty diverse (in spite of the fact that, like, half of us are hunters of some kind). Eight's a pretty good number, I'd say.

Characters Arcs yes. I thirst for sweet, sweet, background stories/character development.

Will discuss lore in lore thread, must first make an IC post.

I also like the idea of using the Major Arcana to identify Royalty. We could even use the Minor Arcana to identify noble households, people who are above the common folk but not quite royalty either.

Second, I love all the ideas and things I'm seeing. There is really only one hard and fast rule in terms of content. Nothing is concrete or true until it is established in our shared fiction in-character. And even then, we have the right to go back and change things if we like. So, let's keep the ideas rolling. If you're really into an idea, we'll find a way to get it established.
 
So, I’d like to finish this scene where Angel is coming with/tagging along etc. Then we’re going to cut forward to a scene at you’re encampment. Kind of an aftermath scene.
