Milus felt his knife fly out of his hand and stepped backwards to avoid the sweep. "You're not smart, are you?" He asked, whipping out another knife with wicked looking ridges and holding it close to Lew. "If your buddy over there wants his brother to die, then by all means, try again." There was little emotion in his voice, but the man was losing his patience and a little shaken by how quickly Raiko moved. He wasn't expecting that.


"Even if you are, why would you want to hurt her? Over what, some trinkets and some fruit?" Rav'n pressed, raising his hands in front of him in a disarming gesture. In a pinch he could still use his bending from his position, so it wasn't much of a risk. But Kazu didn't know that.

Amita perked up when she heard Rav's voice. It echoed in her ears, as if he was far away, and yet she could see him standing there, maybe a foot away or so, give or take. His hands were raised, and he seemed to be trying to talk the boy above her into letting her go. "Rav...?" she mumbled, her eyelids drooping.


"Is that you?" She squinted, and could hear Milus' voice, she guessed talking to the other airbender. "Where's Kala?" she asked the thief, looking at him, almost to the point of glaring. She hadn't seen her friend in what seemed like forever, but then again, that could just be due to the after effects of her being knocked out.


"Where. Is. My. Bison." she repeated, angrier now, which was unusual for her. As she started to regain control of her body (as in she could see clearer), she adjusted herself in the boy's arms until she could blast herself out of them if she needed to. But she wouldn't if she could help it. She'd give him the chance to back down first.

 

[Kiotaro]

Raiko stopped trying. "Don't hurt him. Just let him go." He dropped his claws to the ground and was ready to use his bending in case he needed to. "It's a trade off. Okay? Drop the knife."

(Sorry, the database was backing up this morning and I've been working all day... it's been an odd day. I'll probably be on to post around 11 or 12 if that's cool with y'all) 
(Maybe Lew should wake up soon?)


Milus looked at the boy, wary to lower his weapon. "How can we trust you?" He asked, looking Raiko in the eyes.


Rav'n heard Milus's question and turned away from Kazu to see his friend still holding Lew with a blade against his neck. "Mal, what are you doing?" He asked fearfully. "You..." The boy stopped, emotions warring within him; fear for Amita, anger and disbelief at Milus, sympathy for Kazu and Lew. All of these threatened to overwhelm him and he fought to keep them in check. The tables had turned it seemed, giving them the advantage, yet the airbender only felt sick to his stomach as realization washed over him. They were playing with lives over some lost bags.


When Milus still didn't drop his weapon, Rav'n made a decision. "Mal, let him go." The boy said quietly.


"Don't be stupid Rav, they'll try to-" Milus protested but was cut off by his companion. "No, you don't be stupid!" The boy yelled, his voice seeming to echo through the area. His speech dropped to be little more than a whisper. "I don't want you to be the bad guy. Let him go. Please."


Milus stood still with his world spinning around him. The bad guy? Is that who I am? He asked himself. Shame filled his mind and heart. The one person who still had faith in him, and he almost shattered it over some stolen food. The realization struck him like a ton of bricks.


With a clatter the knife fell to the ground, bouncing harmlessly away from Milus and Lew. The man looked at Kazu and then back to Raiko, the shame apparent in his eyes. "I... Here." He offered up Lew to the boy. "Your friend for ours." Milus looked at Rav'n gratefully. Somehow this boy always knew how to bring him back from the darkest of places. "We don't need anyone to die..."

Raiko breathed out with relief. "Thank you young one. You have saved the day! May I ask your name?" He said as he walked slowly to Lew and picked him up. He walked towards Kazu and told him to let the girl go.

Amita's eyes widened in hope when Milus called her his friend, then watched as the man released the lightning bender. She was so happy that no one had to die, but she was also still scared. Would these people still let her go? "R-Rav...?" she whispered, her voice a bit scratchy. "...Thank you..." She smiled softly.


She started to get out from this boy's grasp, then looked at Milus and Agito, who had only just run up. "You too..." she said, still unsure as to if everything was going to be okay. "I said you could keep my bag, you know," she added, now directing her voice to the thieves. The unfriendly(?) airbender told her captor to release her, to which she obliged gratefully.


"Thank you," she said to the one the thief had called Kazu, and then made her way next to Rav, still a little wobbly. "I think I need to sit down..." she half-chuckled, before sitting down, back against a tree. "We need to find Kala..." she said, closing her eyes. Her heart was racing; she couldn't believe this was all after a few bags!

Rav'n grinned and rubbed the back of his head. "I just didn't want anyone else to get hurt... I'm Rav'n. And I'm not that young." The boy already wanted to trust Raiko, even if he'd just squared off with Milus. "What's your name?" As Amita came over and sat down his grin faded slowly. "Are you okay?" He asked her, concerned that she might be hurt.


Milus let Raiko take Lew then walked over to Rav'n and Amita. He was still keeping an eye on the strangers but didn't want to provoke another response in the young airbender. As the man got to Rav'n he tussled his hair and pulled him close. "Sorry. Thanks." He said, never more proud of or glad to have met the boy. He really was something else, at least to Milus. The man released his friend and then looked at Amita. "Are you okay?" He echoed the airbender's earlier question, then sported one of his rare smiles. "And don't worry, we'll find her."

(Fair, but I'm teetering on unconsciousness, so if I don't respond I probably passed out on my taplop)

She nodded and smiled a bit when she heard Rav's concerned, "Are you okay?" "I'm okay," she replied, smiling up at him with her sparkling blue eyes. "Thank you again." She was grateful he was here, and she was glad to be able to call him a friend. "Are you okay?" Milus said, and again Amita repeated, "I'm okay."


"Don't worry," the man smiled, "we'll find her." Amita hadn't seen Milus with a full-on smile since they'd met, and seeing it now made her want to soar up into the sky. He looked so good when he was smiling, and she wondered why he didn't do it more often. She nodded, looking at the airbender and the two brothers.


"I'm Amita," she said, extending her hand to the closest one, smiling. "We kind of got off to a bad start, huh? What's your name?" She was quick to forgive others, and after all, they hadn't done much harm to her... aside from knocking her unconscious... but that was beside the point. She was always up for making friends.

Lew slowly started to wake up," ugh" the fire bender couldn't see very well and every thing was blurry for a bit, but the one thing that hurt most was his head... Then he remember ," w-where's Kazu!" He exclaimed

Raiko helped Lew up on his feet and carefully took Amita's hands and shook it. "Raiko. That's Lew and His brother Kazu." He said pointing to each one of them. He walked over to his claws while watching the others, picked them up and returned to Lew and Kazu. He was skeptical of this bunch. Not sure if they should be trusted.

Kazu walked over to Lew," are you okay?" He questioned Lew, he turned to his brother," I feel like I was hit by a rock to the head... Yeah, I'm still kinda dizzy too" Lew said as he placed his hand on his head. " well maybe you should sleep it off?" Kazu stated," I probably will later"

Milus looked up as Lew stammered out a sentence. "He's right here, and he's fine." He said, letting his smile disappear. The man hadn't planned on saying anything else, but Rav'n nudged him with his elbow in the ribs. "Oh, and sorry about the whole knocking-you-out thing..." The man finished, looking away. He wasn't even close to forgiving the firebender for attacking Rav, but a sense of civility seemed like a good approach now. The man didn't wait for a response before copying Raiko and going to find his knives and sword. It seemed that neither completely trusted the other.


Rav'n gazed at Amita, momentarily lost in her bright blue eyes. "No problem! Can't have one of my friends getting hurt, can I?" Even after everything that had happened, somehow the airbender couldn't stop smiling.


(Sorry, I'm passing out. If I keep on my writing is only going to get worse. Catch you later, everyone!)

"Nice to meet you, Raiko," Amita said, grinning. She looked at the brothers. "You too, Lew, and Kazu." When she heard Lew complaining about his head, she couldn't help but joke about it a bit. "I know what you mean," she smirked, rubbing her own head. "Being knocked out isn't something I want to make into a habit."


While Raiko went to retrieve his weapon (rather fascinating claws, which puzzled the girl, since he had airbending after all), Milus apologized, and then did the same. "I'm sorry too," Amita said, lowering her head in shame, "I didn't mean to chase you. I kind of got a little caught up in the moment, if you know what I mean."


"No problem!" Rav grinned, and the girl wondered how. "Can't have one of my friends getting hurt, can I?" Amita smiled back, and shook her head. "Of course not," she smirked, "and neither can I." She glanced back to the three newcomers. "So... are we friends now?" she asked, a bit uneasily, as she was still unsure. You could never be too careful.

Lew turned to the girl and laughed,"Yeah, Not the best Habit to learn" Kazu giggled a bit as well," That would be bad"


Kazu walked over to the girl and shock her hand,"I'm Kazu.... although I think Raiko already pointed that out.... that's Lew as you already"

Raiko replied to their apologies, "No, we are sorry for stealing your things, we have no where to go and it's just us three." Raiko noticed that Amita was looking at his claws. He asked her, "You like them?" while smiling and showing them to her. "So what is a group doing in this small town? I know what we're doing here, but you?"

"Nice to meet you Lew, Raiko, Kazu!" Rav'n said, looking at each as he spoke their name. "I'm Rav'n, and this is Milus." He gestured to the man who didn't even acknowledge the others. The boy sighed. It would be hard to get Milus to trust these three, especially after meeting on such bad terms.


"We're passing through towards Ba Sing Se!" Rav exclaimed, then smirked. "What about you? Causing trouble?" He tried to make it sound like a joke to avoid another conflict.


Milus returned to the small group with his weapons back on his person. "Not to interrupt this little meeting, but we still have a body in the woods and a bison to find..." He said shortly, looking at Lew. "And thanks to our firebender here," The verbal jab preceded a split second pause before the man continued, "We can't identify the former and might have a forest fire to deal with."


Rav'n frowned, glaring at Milus for a second. Why would he try to provoke the boy's new friend like that? He sighed again, mouthing the word 'sorry' at Lew.


"Wait, did you say body?" The words finally hit Rav'n, causing him to turn to his friend sharply.


Milus cursed himself for bringing it up. "Yeah." He said gruffly, looking first at the boy then to the others gathered around. "We still don't know where he came from."

"You like them?" Raiko asked, after noticing Amita staring at his claws. He showed them to her, holding them out. "Um..." She put on a smile. "They're... different, and very... um, sharp." She stared at the airbender, appalled at how he could use such vulgar objects. "What do you need those for when you have your bending?" she asked.


"So what is a group doing in this small town? I know what we're doing here, but you?" Raiko asked, and of course Rav was fist to reply. She rolled her eyes, smiling. "We're passing through towards Ba Sing Se!" Rav explained, smirking. "What about you? Causing trouble?" Before anyone else could say anything, Milus snapped them back to the real world.

"Yeah." he said, "We still don't know where he came from." Amita stood up. "Well, we can always go and find out together, right?" she suggested, giving a weak smile. She wasn't exactly up for examining a corpse. She was really interested in recovering her bison.

Amita swerved, barely dodging the blast of wind the airbender had shot at her. "Whoa..." she muttered to herself involuntarily, and she hoped Rav was okay. She hated having to leave him on his own, but she had no other choice. He better have left that lightning-bender alone. She saw a flash of color down below as it dashed under the leafy canopies of the trees.
She descended, slowing herself down by controlling the wind currents around her, and she landed gracefully where she had last seen the pair. "H-hello...?" she called out, after snapping her glider back into its staff position. "Please come out," she pleaded, though she knew it was useless. "I don't want to fight you, I just want to talk!"


She turned around, suddenly realizing she was lost. Kala wasn't here, and neither were her new friends. She hugged herself and took a deep breath. Taking her staff in one hand, Amita took a step forward. She placed the wooden contraption down and then stepped back to where she had been. "See?" she called, raising her hands in surrender. "I need your help."
