April Shorden

Blue eyes stared wide at the Google Calendar that laid on the laptop screen in front of April, her right hand holding her head up, propped onto her elbow while the other tapped on a cream colored coffee mug. The summer breeze blew freely through ginger hair from her seat on the cafe patio, sun slotting in through the overhang's bars. A social life was out of the question for her this year, it had to be. There was no way she was going to be able to keep up with friends, while still attending dance classes, mandatory pilates and yoga, religious studies study group, work, all while still managing her sanity. With a sigh, she pulled the laptop shut, picking up the coffee mug in both hands and looking around Marlin's Cafe. She could see the stress already flooding across the coffee house, student's already breaking out textbooks and highlighters, studying as if finals were coming this week, but no, this was just part of the rigorous work that went along with being a student at Atlantic University.

April knew all too well the pressure this college could put student's under. The Arts programs were even tough, though the university was known for it's advances in technological and scientific studies. Her professors had been professionals, revered in their field, and damn it if their students ever forgot. Even the thought of her upcoming ballet class made goosebumps cover every inch of her skin, the warm weather not being able to calm the nerves. All she wanted was a quiet semester, maybe hang out with friends, or hey, wouldn't it be cool if she could go out on a date? Meet a nice guy, have some fun?

A chuckle fell from rose pink lips at the thought, and April did her best to ignore her own self pity. This year was going to be great, she just had to make it that way.

Noah face planted into his textbook groaning, making out a few curse words. It's only the beginning of his junior year, but it was already beating him to a pulp. He was tired of studying the makeup of the human bones and didn't feel like staring at the inner makeup of bone marrow. Running his fingertips through the tips of his hair he picked his face up off his books and unzipped the front pouch of his backpack, grabbing his student ID. Which still had the same photo from his freshmen year of college and boy did he look rough. He shook his head looking down at the photo, having small flashbacks of his freshmen year, he was a wreck. He made it though, obviously, and is trying to think of way to pass organic chemistry this semester, keep himself fit for the soccer team, and still be able to manage a social life. He was able to manage it all in the past, barely, but this year it might just not happen. He might have to sacrifice something, but it won't be his school work. That's just how it is though and he gets that's what it is going to take to have his "dream" job. Sacrifices. The words "work hard now and it'll pay off later" replay in his head repeatedly in his father's voice. Probably the only decent advice the old man left him.

Getting up from his seat, he left his bag back on the table trusting that nothing would get stolen since he was just going to order. Making his way to the front cash register he ordered himself an iced latte, since it wasn't chilly or anything outside it was the better option, and a plain bagel with some cream cheese. Toasted of course, he couldn't fathom how anyone could just eat raw bread, not toasted and still enjoy what they were eating. After swiping his student card he waited for the balance to display on the screen so he could keep track of how much of his meal plan he was spending. He didn't have the biggest one, but he has the biggest appetite. Tucking the card in his back pocket he stumbled back to his seat and plopped down, resting his head on his palms and waiting for his name to be called.

waverly williams

Waverly entered the coffee shop and ordered a cold brew and a blueberry muffin. She waited for her order before sitting down, luckily being able to snag an empty small table. She pulled out her textbook, index cards, and colored pens. Classes had barely begun and she had a vocab quiz at the end of the week. She started in on making flash cards for each word. While she felt okay about the information now, these flash cards would definitely be handy for the exam and, eventually, the final. She needed to do well in school to keep her scholarship, plus she prided herself on her grades. She put the finished cards in a pile. She checked in with her dad through text message while she was making her flash cards. She talked to her dad every day, but she was lucky if she heard from her mother more than once a month. It was kind of odd knowing that her mom had a husband and two children that she talked to every day and cared about when she hardly spoke to her on a regular basis.

Being a double major, with a minor no less, wasn't easy. Despite the fact that her majors and minor were all related, she still had to work very hard to maintain everything. Her work has paid off so far, but she was constantly worried about missing an assignment or failing a class. She struggled with having no social life last year, so she wanted to work on it this year. Maybe make some friends, meet a guy, or at bare minimum talk to people outside of class. She was sick of feeling lonely. She sipped her drink as she finished up her flash cards before moving on to reading a chapter in her Francophone Culture book. They were starting off this semester with French speaking Canada, so she highlighted important concepts as she read.

Adriel Levin
Adriel walked into the coffee shop and lined up behind a few other students. He was probably the only student on campus who didn't like coffee. He knew he was a rare breed and most people mocked him for his dislike, but coffee didn't hold a handle to hot chocolate. The student in front finally ordered their fancy coffees with words that he swore were a foreign language and, as an English major, he was familiar with languages. He stepped up to the counter and smiled at the worker. The lady had soft features and oddly long oval face. He ordered his hot chocolate and headed to a table by the window.

So far so good. His grades were high and consistent and he had time for friends, just not this week. With the essay due in a couple days and a lit review due tomorrow, he had plenty on his plate. He unzipped his backpack and pulled out his laptop. The free time he had right now would have to be used wisely since he had yet to start the lit review. He glanced up and noticed a red head sitting outside. He preferred indoor seating while using his laptop because he didn't have to worry about straining to see the desktop, plus, hot chocolate was meant to be drank inside in the air conditioning.

Her wild red locked blew in the wind. He'd seen her around campus before but didn't know anything about her, other than her name was April. One of the guys down the hall from him ogled over her from afar, but had not yet had the guts to strike up a conversation with her. He leaned back in his seat and turned his attention back to the laptop. He'd stared at her long enough. Resting his hands over the keys, he took a deep breath, he was ready to get this assignment over with.

April Shorden

It was funny to April, how many people were already looking as dazed and confused as she was. Hands carelessly running through locks of hair, palms pressed into bored cheeks, wide eyes and gaping mouths. The semester was already kicking some ass, but hey, college, right? Shaking her head a little, the blue eyed girl looked towards the beach that was just across the way. The cafe was on the edge of campus, away from all the hussle and bussle of classrooms, study groups, the library. This was a place that you could at least enjoy the ocean while you studied, and that was all that mattered to her for now. April spent so much time in mirrored rooms, the only sunlight coming in through tall windows that she couldn't see out of. She imagined many students felt that way though, holed up in their classrooms, unable to find any sort of relief from the suffocation of books and lectures.

Speaking of suffocating students, a guy that must've been around her same age looked to be doing just that. Laptop open, textbooks and study guys strewn along the patio table that he was occupying, the mess of a difficult major, she imagined. Not that every major wasn't difficult in it's own right, but even she didn't have that much homework going into the first month of school. Her table was much neater than his at least, only her laptop, planner and a time sheet for the dance studio on campus, neatly stacked. "Kicking your ass already?" The redhead quipped before sipping her coffee again, flicking some hair from her face and offering a welcoming smile. She knew all too well that waiting for social interaction was a bad idea, so why not try for herself?

Noah restlessly sat waiting for a "Noah" to be called to retrieve his drink, but it felt like it would never happen. Several minutes went by and he sat there bouncing his right leg up and down. He didn't understand what was taking so long, he understood that the cafe was always slow and understaffed, but barely anyone was here ordering anything or they already had their order. Either way it was out of his control so he decided to calm down a bit before he lost his temper. He was patient. Looking around he noticed another guy order something and swore if he got his drink before him he would most certainly lose it. Twiddling his fingers through the tips of his hair he looked up as he heard a voice speaking to him. Or at least he was sure they were talking to him, he was in a bit of a daze.

Caught off guard he peered up staring at the gal with her cherry red hair. He chuckled, "Is it that noticeable?" He noticed her, couldn't quite remember her name, but had definitely seen her walking around on campus before. He tapped his fingers on the table still anxiously waiting for a name to be called in the faint background, but nothing yet. He returned a sweet smile back, "How's it treating you so far?"

"It's not unnoticeable," The words welcomed a smile to her lips, her ring-clad fingers reaching up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. The guy was familiar, she was sure they had had a class together at some point, yet couldn't quite place her finger on it. He was handsome, his jawline firm and his skin kissed by the Virginia sun. The slight bags under his eyes and overall grogginess gave him away though, the pure signs of an exhausted college kid with too much to do and too little time. Taking another sip of coffee, April pressing her elbows into the table, propping herself up and straightening out her back.

The question of how the semester was treating her almost made her laugh. Her joints were tight, muscles sore, feet bruised from pointe shoes, mind fluttering. "It's uh... it's not being the nicest," April shrugged, reaching down to rub a sore knee before looking out on the ocean. "If only there were outdoor classroom though, y'know?" The thought was nice, bringing a calm smile to her fair, her complexion almost brightening at the idea of doing her ballet classes in the sun, or her lectures on Buddhism by the beach. It would never happen, but the thought was nice. "God forbid we get to enjoy ourselves when we live in such a pretty place though, right?" The poor stranger was just listening to her ramble at this point. But April needed friends, and he was friendly enough, so why not?

Noah let out a soft laugh. "Well I was hoping it wasn't." He rubbed his eyes a bit, they were super dry from reading out of his textbook all night long and staring at a laptop screen for hours. They were on the verge of being completely bloodshot red except for the small areas of white still left. He really needed to work on his sleeping schedule, it was out of hand. Last semester this happened and he started to sleep through important classes. That can't happen again since he can't afford another "bad" grade. His version of bad was anything lower than a B. Getting just an average grade was bad. He was definitely hard on himself and didn't believe in the whole 'C's get degrees' motto other students happily spoke about. I mean their GPA coming out of college might not matter, but he knew his counted. Only the top student could qualify for the med schools he was looking at, even the bad ones are hard to get into. It seemed almost impossible, but not for Noah, he knew he could pull it off if he really wanted it.

Bringing his focus back to the red-headed girl he studied her face, she was pretty. Big eyes, a perfect button nose, her fair complexion and red hair were basically meant for one another. "Yeah, no that would be nice. I know the astronomy class gets to come out at night, look up at the stars and stuff. At least its something ya know?" He said looking at her and then out at the ocean view that seemed endless. He missed sailing, he took it up as a hobby when he was younger, but never kept it up. He still remembers most of the basics though if he could just get back out there one day. "If I were to get a break though I wouldn't miss getting back out on that water..." He paused for a few seconds gathering his thoughts and looked back at her. "Ever gone sailing before?" He asked raising an eyebrow at her.

Blue eyes brightened as the handsome stranger mentioned getting out on the water, sailing in it's waves, getting out to sea and leaving the land of the university behind. Okay, so maybe April had romanticized the idea of sailing, but none the less, it was something that interested her. For years she watched the boats go in and out of the harbor she lived near, out her bedroom window where some came and went and some just simply, went. "I can't say I have been, but I'd like to," She cooed before turning her attention back to the boy across from her, setting down her coffee and shrugging her shoulders. "Not that I could ever have the time to go out and teach myself. Two majors with one of them that is all physical doesn't allow much room for leisure," Her sigh told it all as she reached to shut her laptop, giving up on looking at her schedule for now. Dance was great, but it was physically tasking and always left the redhead tired and uninterested. Part of the reason she wanted more of a social life. Maybe people would force her to go out.

"I'm April by the way," The petite girl gave a small wave then, realizing they still hadn't exchanged names or majors. "Doubling in Dance Performance and Religious Studies. Twice the work and four times the all-nighters." And damn was it true. The redhead spent most of her study time split evenly between the dance studio and the library, always leaving both not sure if the hours spent were productive or not. But her grades were holding high, and her professors seemed happy enough with her work, so who was she to complain?

Noah looked at her wide eyed in disbelief. Two majors, he could never keep that up, he can barely keep up the work for the one he has now. She looks great for having a double major, not sleep deprived at all. He wondered what her secret was and how she manages her time. "Wow you have yourself quite the schedule." He wondered if she ever went out or if most her time was spent studying like himself. No there's no way, not with a double major especially in dance, he knew it was rigorous work. Especially on the body, soccer wasn't that tough on him. "I'm Noah..." He smiled at her and then continued on. "Well, I am in no way as talented as you are so I just have my one major in biology and a minor in computer science." He knew it was still a lot of work, especially since sometimes his lab classes went on for four hours plus and then coding could take up to 15 hours an assignment. Again, he was hard on himself and he knew there were other people out there working harder than he ever could which is why he sells himself short. A high grade point average, a slice of a social life, and still being able to stay in one piece wasn't something he could complain about. Even if he did look like he just rose from the dead.

In the background he heard his name called. Finally he thought, it took way longer than it should have. Even the guy that placed his order after him had his before him. Trying to not get to upset though he rose from his chair and looked down at her. "One second, let me just grab this." He said shoving his chair out of the way and walking inside to retrieve his potion of revival. After grabbing it he thanked the employees even though his drink was way too late and then walked back over and sat back down in his seat. "Sorry about that I ordered this half an hour ago." He said shaking his head and getting himself situated in his seat before taking a sip. After gulping some more down he felt refreshed. "Also, I do have to say you should try sail-boating. I know we just met and what not, but I do remember some of my basic training on how to drive one. Just putting it out there if you wanted to, I guess, tag along sometime?" Shutting the top to his laptop he slipped it into the back of his book bag. Placing his elbows on the table and his hands around his coffee he softly blew into the lid to cool his drink down. It was steaming.

Alyssa Anderson

Alyssa entered the coffee shop and got in the long line of students. She tapped her foot lightly, hoping that the line would go fast. There was a paper for her art history class she needed to work on and she wanted to get started as soon as possible. She was constantly occupying herself with doing the best she could on her assignments, and doing the best she could was doing her assignments to perfection. For her anything else was simply unacceptable. That's how she'd been all throughout high school and her freshman year and she didn't see why that would stop now. Still, Alyssa knew she should at least try and make a few friends. She was just unsure how to go about doing that. She yawned and tucked her wavy hair behind her ear as the line advanced a bit. She glanced around the coffee shop, seeing many familiar faces but no one she'd ever talked to often. Not that that was a surprise, she never really talked much to anyone.

The line advanced and Alyssa stepped up to a counter, ordering a ginger tea. She couldn't stand any sort of caffeine, which was surprising considering how often she pulled all nighters. After she ordered, she looked around for an open table. The coffee shop had gotten so crowded that she couldn't find one. She stood, waiting for her tea and keeping an eye out for anyone leaving a table. After a couple minutes, she sighed, getting a bit impatient. She needed to get work done, she shouldn't've come here. She considered just leaving but decided to stay for her tea. After all, it shouldn't take long to make. She stood, lightly tapping her foot, waiting.

April couldn't help but chuckle a little as she watched the stranger's eyes widen at her mention of a double major. Most thought she was insane, and maybe she was, but the blue eyed girl was a strong believer in having a back up plan. Dance wasn't a surefire career path, not for the long term anyway. Things could break and dislocate, styles and company needs could change, it was a world of competition and it just wasn't something you were guaranteed. Which is why she had Religious Studies as a backup. It was something that she was incredibly interested in, being agnostic herself, and was something she didn't mind studying. If anything, it was her enjoyment away from her dance studies, since studying was always something she had to do.

While the boy, now known as Noah, stood up to go get his coffee, April gathered her things and moved to sit at the same table as him, seeing no use in conversing across the tables. She settled in comfortably, smiling up at him upon his return. "I don't think it's talent, I think it's insanity," Her words were grumbled, paired with an eyeroll. Though it was quickly replaced by Noah's generous offer. Not many people invited April out, to go do new things, to adventure, which sucked because it was something she craved more of. She craved some sort of social interaction outside of her realm of dancers, who she saw plenty of. "That'd be great!" She quipped with a wide smile, nodding her head once before running a hand through a ginger river of hair. "I wish more people wanted to just get out and do something. I feel like I'm rotting away between my time in a one bedroom apartment and the dance studios. It'd be nice to just... I don't know, get out more."

Kim
Interacting: Lizy Lizy

Kim lent back against the wooden fence of the little cafe panting and puffing and dripping with sweat. Since early, she'd been running and now she was absolutely knackered. She used her towel to wipe her forehead, stretched a little to warm down and then headed into the cafe for a smoothie. This was a popular hang out point for uni students, so she often came here just to scope out the crowd. But they also did a killer Banana and honey smoothie and she ordered it nearly every time. Without paying much attention to her surroundings initially, she ordered herself the drink and then turned to look for a seat. To her surprise there wasn't one available, plus there was another girl waiting.

By the time her smoothie arrived she noticed a couple of students leaving their seat. She walked over to the lady waiting impatiently and got her attention with a wave "Hiya! Obviously you were here first so it's up to you, but do you mind if I share that table with you? I wont be long, just want to sit down and finish my drink then I'll get out of your hair" She said politely, gesturing towards the table that just became free. "My name is Kim, by the way" She chirped, cheerily.

Noah moved some of his things over to one side of the table so she could place her belongings freely, he didn't want to be a hog. Scratching the stubble on his face he listened taking another sip from his coffee soon after and then licking the flavor off his bottom lip. The taste was one of his favorites, he loved coffee, but he loved vanilla syrup in his coffee more. Hated it growing up though, the bitterness of it, until he realized it could be sweetened to his liking. One time his mother tried giving him coffee when he was sick, he still doesn't know why she tried that, but either way it was spit right back into the mug. Disgusting. Obviously, he has grown to accommodate the taste now. After chuckling at her little joke and sipping some more, he listened before peering up from his paper coffee cup. "Really?" He look bewildered that she actually took up the offer, for some reason he thought the suitcases resting under his eyes would lead him into a pit of doom. Guess they weren't as bad as he thought, just noticeable, but not scary.

He smiled at her in glee and set his cup down on the table grabbing a phone from his back pocket. He supposed this would be a good opportunity, since she said yes and what not. Unlocking his phone using his facial profile he slid his phone across the table.
"Just so I can let you know when I get a boat going." Letting off a nervous chuckle he realized it was probably weird that he felt the need to explain himself, it was just a number. He didn't know why he was all angst up about it. Pushing his empty cup aside he continued the conversation, "So what kind of dance do you do?" He asked curiously and peering over to see if she would even give him her number.

"Yeah really," April lifted a brow, a wide smile on her face as she took the phone in her hands and quickly typed in her name, putting a tulip emoji next to it, followed by her phone number. She could feel her heart beating just a bit, the threat of a rosy blush tempting beneath her skin, though she quickly dismissed her body's turmoil. It was just a nice guy, Noah was just a nice guy, who wanted to hang out. Nothing more than that, right? Right. April was so hung up on the idea of sailing with the handsome man across from her that she almost didn't hear this question. Shaking the previous thoughts of pretty-boy-Noah from her mind, the redhead reorganized her brain before handing the phone back.

"Mostly classicaly ballet with some contemporary mixed in," She sighed, resting her cheek into her palm and looking over to the boy. Most people were bored with the idea of ballet, not that April could blame them. It wasn't something that many had a taste for nowadays. It was classical music and flexible girls in tutus, though she was positive it was only one of the two that was scaring away young audience members. Though, it could have been the people part of ballet that gave it a bad rep. Most ballerinas, in April's opinion, were stuck up princesses, who partied more than they let on and thought the world owed them a favor, justifying their run up credit cards on expensive cocktail dresses to wear to B-List events. She didn't live under that same philosophy though. Her days were spent reading on her apartment's balcony, cat in her lap, soaking up sunshine with a cold cider and soft music on. And sure, it got lonely, but it beat partying. "Pretty boring huh?" April asked, as if to prove her point, staring down at her coffee mug. "What did you say your major was again? It has to be more interesting than either of mine."

A smile appeared on his face as she began to casually type her contact information into his phone. Why was he so excited? 'It's just a number...' repeated in his head as he brought his focus back to the conversation. Taking his phone he looked down at the information put into it, he smirked at the little tulip, but then brought back a straight face hoping it went unnoticed. After checking to make sure the number saved he pressed the button on the side to put his phone to sleep. Twisting back to his bag he gently tossed it inside so it wouldn't be a distraction. People constantly checking their phones mid-conversation was something he found quite rude. It made him feel like they didn't want to be talking to him in the first place and that he was just being a burden. He wouldn't want anyone else to feel that way so during outings he keeps his phone on 'Do Not Disturb' except for his emergency contacts. Which is only his mom at the moment, his father didn't make the cut.

He watched as her cheek fell into rest with her palm falling into a short daze before fading back into reality. "Uh no actually, ballet is beautiful in its own way. The only ballet I have ever watch though was The Nutcracker with my parents when I was a kid, but I enjoyed it." He didn't really know what he was talking about, ballet wasn't his strong suit, but he didn't hate it or find it a bore. He was open-minded. Adjusting his position, he moved his arms onto the table and leaned his chest over the table, he was intrigued by the conversation they were having. "Just biology, nothing fancy like ballet." He chuckled a bit, "Unless you find dissecting a pig "interesting" then I guess I do have you beat." He rested his chin on top of his coffee cup and peered up at her with his big blue eyes. "Can I watch you dance?" He asked raising both his eyebrows as he asked the question.

Just Biology? The words didn't even feel right as they stuck to April's tongue, her eyes growing wide and her disbelief shooting into her veins. Noah was meaning to tell her that he was not only an incredibly attractive young man, but that he was also studying Biology at a university known for their Pre-Med programs? It was true then, this was just proof - there really were hot doctors in the world. Or at the very least, hot men studying to one day become doctors.

And then to make matters worse, attractive studying-to-be-a-doctor boy asked to come watch her dance, big blue eyes peering up at her like a puppy at the pound. Normally April would say no, insist that she didn't know when their next performance was going to be (which was always a lie) or that she wouldn't be in the upcoming dance concert. Another lie, but this one less avoidable. The redhead was a humble girl, yes, but that didn't mean that she didn't have a reputation for being top of her class, featured by professors and loved by the local dance companies in Virginia. Who was she to deprive herself of acknowledging that years upon years and channeling parental hatred into hard work actually paid off? So with a sigh she looked down at her new friend, trying to hide a wide smile at how adorable he looked.

"I have a performance next Saturday." Red hair blew back fro her face as a gust of wind came by, her eyes not leaving Noah's. "And for your information, a biology major is absolutely just as fancy, if not fancier than ballet. You're actually wanted to save lives and help people. I'm just breaking down my body and broadcasting it onto a stage."

Noah smiled taking note of her performance date, which hopefully he would be able to attend as long as he was free. Luckily, it is on a Saturday which means no classes and more time to study. Also soccer hasn't started yet, but tryouts are next weekend which he should probably start practicing for if he wants to make the cut this year, the competition is rough. Of course, he strives to be one of the best on the field, but since he joined the university he noticed just how many good talented players, like himself, were out there. Plus, instead of being in the gym practicing he was normally stuck studying or in labs dissecting some organism. Not going to lie though he did enjoy the dissections, like he should if he wants to become a surgeon some day.

Noah laughed at her comment, "Well, I bet you breaking down your body looks beautiful out there so I am excited to watch." He wondered how good she really was at the whole ballet thing, he wouldn't know the difference though since he didn't know much about the subject matter. Either way he was sure she was a star, she seemed like star material or maybe he just found her stunning which could be clouding his judgement. He didn't care though, he was ready to cheer her on or whatever happens in a ballet performance. "All I am saying is anyone with the right books can be a doctor. Not everyone can be a dancer, it takes a special talent." He said pondering on the thought, which he agreed with. Anyone could be a doctor with the right textbooks and will, even if they hated it and were just forced to do it. Not everyone could be a great dancer, sometimes those type of things just don't work out with body types and what not. All he knew was you'd never catch him twirling around on a stage. He'd be sure to eat it in front of everyone.

Well now he was just flirting. It was clear as day, wasn't it? Laughing at her jokes, saying he'd attend her performance, calling her beautiful, this had to be what flirting was. April couldn't believe how naive she was to all this, how to interact with a guy, how to piece together his intentions. Not like she could've known before she was twenty-two, her life being spent in a studio that was 98% women, while her free time was spent on her studies. It was even that way now, in her adulthood, and while this wasn't a first time she wondered if a guy was maybe making a move, it surely was the first time she actually sort of enjoyed it. Noah was cute, and he probably knew it. And he wanted to be a doctor!

"All dance is is twisting your body in funky ways and trying to make it look graceful. Being a doctor takes years of schooling and someone who genuinely cares about what they're doing," And the words rang true in that red heads of hers, her lips pulling down at the corners a little bit. "I know so many dancers in the program here that don't absolutely love what they're doing, and it's kinda heartbreaking. You go to college to pursue something you want to do and learn in and build a career out of, right? So why would someone go to college for dance of all things if they didn't truly like it?" April's brows had pulled into a furrow now, her semi-long nails tapping against a ceramic mug filled with cold coffee. Though her rant was unwarranted, she had meant every word. Thoughts like that weren't for settings like this though, so with a blink of blue eyes, she was quick to change the subject.

"So Noah," A content sigh fell from rosy lips as April tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, a smile meekly tugging at the edges of her mouth. "You're studying to be a doctor and you like to sail. What else?"

Noah laughed again, thinking to himself how he hasn't laughed like this in a good while. He's been so focused on school and soccer that he forgot what it felt like to actually enjoy life. After listening to her rant he nodded in agreement, "You can normally tell the difference between the two. Someone who is forcing it on themselves and then the person who is in love with what they are doing." He said thinking about how people who normally hate what they are doing come off as a jagged edge, but those who truly have the passion for what they are doing flow like water does mindlessly.

Coming down from the subject Noah kept his stare fixed onto her and licked his lips as they were starting to dry up a bit from the unwanted breeze. Stretching his arm over to the chair where his backpack rested he reached into the front pocket and went for his Vaseline tub. Yes, an entire tub. Opening up the lid he applied a good amount onto one of his finger tips. "Uh, I mean I'm not that interesting. But but I do play some soccer, tryouts are actually next week and I'm a little nervous. Just cause I've been studying more than practicing. Do you play anything?" He said applying the gel onto his lips slowly and then rubbing them together so the gel evenly spread across his lips. He cared about his lips a lot and could never leave his apartment without his jug of Vaseline. Chapped lips were his enemy that he only met in his nightmares.

April Shorden

A guy who wanted to be a doctor and currently played soccer. The redhead's smile grew wide as she listened intently to Noah, refraining from hanging on his words. Though her trance was quickly interrupted by the vat of Vaseline that was pulled from his backpack. She did her best to contain a look of shock, and then pure hilarity. A laugh threatened to burst from behind her lips, biting at the edge of her lower lip to help conceal it. Never in a million years had she seen something like that, and she had seem many-a weird thing.

"Is the tub of Vaseline one of those 'can't-leave-home-without-it items?" April asked with a small chuckle, tilting her head inquisitively. Everyone had their quirks, their habits that no one else would ever understand. Hell, she was even guilty of such things. April had a weird fascination with the freckles that scattered her arms, drawing pictures on them when bored, and yeah, maybe sometimes she had every intention of making brownies but ended up eating all the batter instead, but a four year supply of Vaseline? There was a story behind that, one she was waiting to here. April moved to prop up onto her elbows a little more, leaning in as if Noah was going to spill the biggest secret ever. "Or is the tub your secret weapon?" Even she couldn't contain a laugh then, turning her eyes down to the table, desperately trying to contain herself.

Leo liked the beach. Where he lived it was nothing but shit pubs and red dirt as far as the eye could see. He was currently waiting for a video edit he’d finished up to render, and had plans to visit the beach afterwards.

It was such a nice clip too. Very pastel. He wanted to create a music video with pop’s of bright colour against a background of noir greyscale. His classmate had done a fucking mint job of shooting this thing. It had taken him hours to do.

Shouldn’t be long now...

Any second......

Annnd done!

Time to play it all back just one last time. He stood up, turned off the lights in the empty room, hit full screen and pressed play.

Noah’s cheeks flooding with a light pink, he realized how weird it was to just bring out a whole jar of vaseline from nowhere, without any context. Stuffing back into his backpack he looked at her as she was trying to hold her laughs in, emabarrased. “No!” He said shaking his head and chuckling a bit, he figured it’d be better to laugh with her than be embarrassed about the whole situation. “Well...I guess it could be, my lips are super soft so you know, it’s my weapon to kissing I guess?” He said skimming the top of his lips with his fingertips and quirking one of his eyebrows up. “No one wants to kiss someone with chapped lips.” He said laughing a little bit, remembering his first kiss and how the Vaseline tub started.

During middle school he had a crush on a girl in a grade above him, an eighth grader and he couldn’t believe she liked him back. Her name was Sky? It’s been a while so it’s hard to actually remember the entire thing, but he knows they shared a first kiss and his lips were chapped. After that no one wanted to kiss him after she spread around the school that it felt like she kissed cardboard. Ever since then he carries around the big tub with him so it would never happen again. He also had a pocket sized one, but didn’t have it on him at the moment.

It was April's turn to blush as Noah spoke of his 'kissing weapon', her eyes averting down to her hands as she became fascinated by her rings. The amount of time it had been since the redhead had been out on a date, been complimented by a guy, been kissed by a guy... well, it was almost embarrassing. She was twenty-two years, old, incredibly fit, tried her best to smell like cherry blossoms, and even still, the attention of men seemed to escape her. Or maybe it was just bad luck or poor timing. Speaking of timing, blue eyes flickered to a white iPhone wrapped in a daisy case, April tapping it's screen to check the time.

Shit.

"Damn it, I'm so sorry, I gotta go," The words were hurried and panicked. April wasn't someone who was known for being late, but not only that, she had never in her life been late to a dance class. The studio where Advanced Ballet II was held wasn't far, but still, she would barely make it. April looked up at Noah with an apologetic smile, stuffing her laptop into her book bag. "I'm so sorry, I have a dance class," She muttered, pulling her hair back into a quick bun with a few strands coming down to frame her face. The petite blue eyed girl was just about to turn to head to class before a wave of subtle confidence hit her, turning back to face Noah and shouldering her bag a little more. "You have my number? I'd like to take you up on that sailing offer sometime. Text me." And with a smile broad on her lips, the redhead turned and started towards a ballet class, pointe shoes and partnering being the last thing on her mind.
